Th Royal Hill Inn in Shropshire

Went for Sunday lunch a carvery. Quite disappointed as potatoes were hard/ overcooked & lamb was very fatty! The broccoli was basically raw! Because of this I would not go again or recommend it to anyone looking for a nice Sunday carvery...

Lucky to call this pub one of our locals, it’s our go to place for Sunday lunch, the carvery is very tasty and excellent value. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they have a good choice of beers on tap. The location next to the river is also great - I'd recommend booking as it's very popular (and you see why).

Nice pub near the river and local caravan park. Enjoyed a great meal at a reasonable price with good service. Chose your food from the menu and order from the hatch. Waiting time although fairly busy was fine. Overall good value for money.

Great Evening at The Royal Hill I visited The Royal Hill this evening with my partner and my partners son and it was a good experience. We were thankful to find this place as many other establishments don't serve food on Mondays between 5 pm and 8 pm. The Royal Hill, however, had a nice atmosphere with plenty of tables and a fantastic view of the Shropshire countryside. The food was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly and we left feeling very satisfied. For a main course each and a soft drink, our meal totalled £58. I recommend The Royal Hill and will definitely be returning!

Amazing is what I can say about this pub, Kelly and Andy could not do enough. We were a party of mature 14 ladies who were staying close by for a Hen Party and booked lunch for our first stop off. We needed a taxi but Kelly told us they could pick us up in the pub mini van and return us back to our cottage. We were slightly delayed as some of the party got stuck on the M6 but that was no bother for Kelly and her team.We had the side front dining room so it felt like a private dining area. We drank them dry in Baby Guiness shots and the cold prossecoo was constantly flowing. We all pre ordered our meals which were all beautiful and came out altogether. Cannot recommend this place enough... you guys were amazing and made the start of the Bride To Be's weekend the Best 👌

last week 56 of us went to this pub for a late lunch. i had pre booked it but had no idea if it was any good or where it was. It is quite a long way from the main road, but well worth the detour. Kelly and her staff served all of us in one sitting and the food, which had been pre-ordered and booked was excellent. Between us we had chosen 5 dishes from the mains menu and 4 from the dessert selection - no mean feat to serve that variety in one sitting.The food was hot and all home cooked, and we were given generous portions, all at a reasonable price. Well done to everyone at the Royal Hill.

We stopped of to reminisce and to get some lunch however we were too late for lunch by 5 minutes. We were regulars at the pub when Ruby was still with us and we had a caravan in the field.

Excellent food dedicated hard working staff made for a very enjoyable evening. Some people should go to the Royal hill to see how ir should be done.

Friendly and helpful staff, and good beer. Generous portions of food, one of our party had fish and chips which looked amazing as did the vegan chilli. The "Royall" burgers were disappointing, they came out medium cooked at best, medium is okay for steak but burgers shouldn't be pink in my personal opinion and I couldn't stomach it so took it home for the dog. It took away from the otherwise positive experience which is a shame but I feel 4 stars is a fair score.

Decided to take part in pizza night. Despite being vegan and my partner dairy intolerant the pizza was great. Washed down with decent beer and good service!

Really lovely, friendly place. Amazing beer, good, affordable wine and good pub food. Lovely warm log burners. River view. If you want to eat, remember to book. They will try their best to get you in, but it is very, very popular. As nice outside as it is in.

Given 4 stars because of the look of the Royal Hill and the beautiful natural unspoilt area it sits in. Did not go into the Royal Hill but will next we are there.Will be very soon. Will put some pictures on for you to see what natural nature is. Cheers Chris H.

Absolutely amazing carvery in a beautiful setting. Food.....Fantastic! And i had a small portion. It was loads. Best bit....they have potato dauphinois. Love it. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely place. In 10 years, I've never been able to fault this good quality British pub. Summer or winter it's well worth a drive off the main road.

Riverside pub with fabulous views of the River and Great home cooked food We came in for a Sunday evening meal after the carvery had finished. Quick friendly service for good quality food, good prices for the quality of the meal. Good sized portions and good arrived piping hot

Cracking country pub ,we went for Sunday carvery and it was delicious, the roads were flooded around the pub and they pick you up in an Army truck to go through the flood water to get to the pub

Great old pub that's been extended but still easily keeps its charm. Three TVs in a 'sports' part at the back with two pool tables and darts. Shows skysports. Reasonably priced pints.

This pub is set in picturesque Shropshire, right on the the river Severn. It has a lovely caravan park next to it. Food was brilliant the menu is varied and very reasonably priced. The food was plentiful and we were not disappointed. The only thing I would say is the service could have been a little better. Personally I don’t like having empty plates left on the table for near on 15 mins after I’ve eaten, to be fair to them they were busy and had new staff in training.

Do like this place and their Steak and ale pie is highly recommended. Short pastry as it should be

Gorgeous pub in the river. Lots of cosy little rooms to sit inside, and plentiful seating outside to enjoy the sunshine by the river with good views. Excellent local cask beers. Have been for the Sunday carvery and it was really delicious and v reasonable.

We went here with our friends and there children. They had never been before but I came around 10 years ago and always remember it being good! They loved it, it was very child friendly food was amazing and very good value. We will definitely be returning.

This is a busy little countryside pub as it is attached to a caravan park. Nice outside seating to use on a sunny day with some views over the river. More seating across the road, which is right beside the road, although the road isn't very busy. Didn't eat here, so I can't comment on that. Toilets clean. Staff friendly. Large adjacent car park. You can walk a little bit beside the river, which is across the road from the pub, but the grassy meadow is reserved for the caravan park residents and has lots of signs to this effect!

Excellent, well priced and presented food with great efficient and friendly service. The dining facilities were vast with both inside and outside options and excellent parking.

Kayaked from welshpool for a pint, lol. It didn't disappoint. Great beer, good service. Sat outside on the lovely benches. Plenty of seating, lush pizza on a Tuesday night and also do pork pie bar snacks. Yum. Definitely recommend.

This pub is a fantastic example of a real old village community Ale House with exceptional food and very reasonable prices set in a beautiful part of the world overlooking the River Severn .

Used to stop here regularly, camping overnight on the Severn Canoe trail. Had planned to stop here for a beer after today's paddle but some research shows that the owners are no longer kayak friendly. Consequently we finished our paddle higher upstream and went elsewhere for a pint.

Lovely place right on the river. Great landlord and landlady. Burger nights, pizza nights, quizzes, local fundraising, 5k walk/run, good food and good beer.

Top pub, and good beer selection including Three Tuns, Shropshire Gold and Wye Valley. Tuesday night is pizza night and they’re great value and delicious. The pub is very popular so expect to queue for food!

Two separate visits provided two different experiences! We ate here in an evening and then the following day for lunch whilst staying at the Campsite. The evening meal was very good, nice food and attentive bar staff especially the Polish girl. For this visit I would have scored four stars! However lunch the following day was marred by the attitude of a very brusque barmaid, (she was a brunette, slim and had a wire haired terrier). There were people queuing to get in at 12 noon, and the front door was open at 11.59. We observed a man ask the lady in question if the pub was open? She replied “we open at 12”. Not very welcoming! My wife ordered two pints! One three tuns and one Shropshire Gold. Once poured she placed them on the bar! My wife asked which one was which? The brusque bar lady said they are in different glasses! My wife looked at the glasses and replied they were both in Salopian glasses!! The bar lady embarrassingly muttered something and then said which one was which! Again no need for this attitude! You are in the hospitality industry! We ordered a fish finger sandwich which was very average with little taste and at £7 overpriced! This visit would have scored 2! So therefore the two visits score 3. A shame really that the lunchtime trip spoilt our overall experience!

We had heard good things about this Royal Hill in Shropshire so decided to make the journey and visit o have dinner. On arrival we could not believe the gorgeous location and decided to have well deserved drink and the beer was fabulous. I was disappointed with the menu NO STATERS any way dinner came it was OK the only downfall was the land lady and landlord no smiles at all .Not what I was expecting .

Absolutely a lovely experience and meal arrived quickly, was more there than I could eat . Would visit when that way again 😊.

Husbands Gammon was lovely, my lasagne was disappointing, not made on site, just bought in and microwaved, very dry and tasteless. I didn't pay for it and staff apologetic Lovely pint of Shropshire .

We visited here on a Friday night as we were staying at the Royal Hill Caravan Park/Campsite next door. Menu is varied with something for everyone and the food and atmosphere, are both great. We did have a large party next to us, but as we ate earlyish, this didn’t really spoil anything. The pub seems to host lots of events which is great to bring the locals together and I’d imagine it being extra busy in the summer months when the campsite is more occupied. We’d love to stay in the campsite for longer next time and we’d definitely eat in the Royal Hill Inn again!

All I'll say is if Ruth is working I'll be walking straight back out. Hideous attitude and really shouldn't be front of house. Four stars are for the other lady working there, she was very lovely and made us feel welcomed and the food was great...would if been 5 stars if not for Ruth.

Really very good, busy atmosphere, good service. We did question the texture of the Chicken Dish which did disappoint and I would wonder why they have chosen to poach as it turns a chicken breast into a mushy tasteless meal. Gammon,Sirloin Steak, Scampi excellent very good value.

A popular pub in the wilds of Shropshire and understandably so. Visited with friends at peak time on Friday evening, at same time as a large group arrived. A warm welcome from the hosts. Waiting staff were lovely and took our orders. Kitchen got everyone's food out in good time (to their credit given how busy they were). Great to see a menu not overcrowded with too many choices but that had something for everyone. Presentation and quality of main courses was great. Desserts were amazing and we'll be back to sample the home made pavlova again. Keep up the excellent work.

Always a top pub/restaurant, our party of six today enjoyed excellent lunch. The Gammon was amazing, served as gammon and pineapple and on top gammon and egg with all the usual additions, all the other selscted meals first class, all at very reasonable prices, service also top drawer. This has to be the best in the county for value and setting overlooking the River Severn.

We had a great night!! We were advised by Sam where we’re staying to come here after we arrived later than expected as we arrived it was busy, so we knew it was popular! It was pizza night so we both got a pizza :) And some chips of course as we’re on holiday. Got served by a shy but very polite young blonde waitress. staff all worked clearly very hard running back and fourth to serve their customers. Great family vibe, beautiful views and a lovely change to our usual busy lifestyles! Would recommend 100% to anybody looking for a bite to eat or just a drink! Nothing to fault.

Turned up on spec on a sunny Sunday evening , although it was busy around the bar area, immediately spoken to, I asked about food as I could see lots of reserved tables , were allocated a table , drinks served , food ordered, came within 15 minutes , really nice nothing fancy but thoroughly enjoyed a pint and a quick meal . We ordered 8 pizzas & one was incorrect, ham & chilli missing. Waitress argued the toss! Should have either made a new one or refunded but chose to correct the customer instead! Foolish given the amount of custom we could send in this direction!

Loved it here and enjoyed the campsite behind the pub which is a separate business. The meal was of good quality and the real ale choices very good! Booked again to return soon.

Arrived just for drinks, as we didn't think we'd get in for food with the weather being lovely and the gorgeous setting. Pleasantly surprised, we got offered a table outside and our food was ready very quickly! Lovely atmosphere, happy staff. Will return with friends and family in the future.

Visited today for lunch was greeted by Andy the manager who gave us a warm welcome. We had drinks and food from the light lunch menu I had the. beef lasagne which was beautiful very tasty and we'll presented. My husband has Ham egg and chips again lovely food and appetizing. Would Definatly reccommend the Royal hill and we certainly will be back. Thank you Andy & Kelly.
