TGI Friday's - Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham

We love TGI Friday’s. When we heard it’s gone into administration we booked a table to get our last meal here. However, it was awful. You could tell the staff had lost their jobs and they wasn’t bothered. They was more interested in talking to each other. It took them 20 minutes to seat us. Even though it was empty. When our food arrived it was cold, they forgot our cutlery and the food was basic rations compared to their usual portions. The menu had also been changed to save money. When we complained they didn’t care. So we just got up and left without paying. We then went to Pizza Hut and had a fantastic experience. Sad as we used to love eating here Even if it does survive I won’t be returning.

Good choice of food, service was good. A bit too expensive, but a good visit.

Standards have gone well down it's an shame because I love this place I hope it's gets better

This dinner was for my Grandson's Birthday treat. Our booking was for 6 o'clock. We had all arrived by 6. We ordered our food and had to wait ages for our starters, which wasn't great as some of us didn't order starters. My son and son in law had ordered the same starters, but they looked completely different. My son's food was cold and didn't look the same as my son in law's, it didn't even taste the same. We told the chef and was told that my son's starter had been on the side in the kitchen for ages.... great !!!!! By quarter to 8 we still hadn't had our food and 2 of the party had to leave as they had other committments and after 2 hours some of us had had no food at all so we left. The service is appalling. My Grandson was crying as we left without our food, so they ruined his birthday. As we left they were singing happy birthday to someone else. They are an absolute disgrace. Other people had come in an hour after us, had a starter and main eat it and had left. Disgusting service.

Delivery was awful, extended the original delivery time by an hour. I tried to cancel but just eat would still charge me as the food had already been prepared, which is ridiculous as the food would obviously be cold and stale if it was left for an hour. Food finally arrived and obviously it was cold and stale, I could not even eat it.

Very dissatisfied with my food as it came cold, I don’t even live far from the restaurant so I believe there shouldn’t be a reason it should arrive cold.

We had libbie ( Sutton Coldfield) she was really sweet and made sure everything was okay. Also the food was delicious as always.

Very poor quality and food was very cold

TGIs have gone through a lot of changes which I don't think are great. The food portions are a lot smaller. The cocktail are full of ice which then tastes watery after 10 minutes. I wouldn't recommend going to any of them to be honest. The service is long as in waiting long for food and staff to serve. I used love this place but it's not for me anymore. The app rewards can be good if you go regular.

First time we came here when it was quiet normally busy waited 30 minutes almost for a drink not good But the Plus side the food was fantastic the staff very polite

Rich was a great server and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us! We had an appointment to get to and he made sure everything was super fast for us :)

Rich was great. He was the only person working on the restaurant floor but he was all over it. We never waited for anything, he was always there. We were indecisive about what to have (my daughter is very fussy) but he was very helpful and even gave us some of the glaze to try with a few fries first to help us decide

Food was dry. Did not find chicken or fries very nice. Staff were ok but will not be returning.

Lindsey was absolutely outstanding. Despite being the only staff member on duty during the busy rush hour, her efficiency and professionalism made it feel like the place was fully staffed. The service and hospitality she provided were impeccable—10/10!"

Haven't been to TGI Friday's for age's so was really looking forward to going. Last time we had been was December 2023 and was lovely. The guy who served us was polite and nice enough. When the food arrived it all looked good. What a disappointment 😞 it turned out to be! Food was bland. Had what was supposed to be chargrilled bbq corn ribs in maple syrup etc, well they were below average, very watery flavourless corn. The kids cheese burger was Overy cooked and mostly likely re-warmed as the bun was hard to eat. The sesame chicken was delicious and mozzarella dippers but that was it! The waiter did ask how it was when we asked for the bill, because he must of notice all the uneaten food that was left. We voiced our concerns and disappointment with the food and how bland and watery the corn ribs were his reply was he never even knew they were on the menu!! Don't know whats happened to TGI Friday's it's shabby, not very clean and lost its attraction. Can't believe the difference in the quality of food and overall experience. Shall not be going back, we left hungry and felt robbed! 🤨

Anna P was friendly and helpful. She made my friend and I feel welcome. I haven't been to Friday's in a long while . I probably wouldn't go again. In a very saturated and competitive market, the food isn't that good!. You need to return to your 1990's menu and reinstate the wonderful, Fisherman's basket!

£32 for 2 drinks !! This place is located in a retail car park in Sutton Coldfield, not in Mayfair London..greedy business, nice evening but won't be returning.

There was no welcome/greeting. We had to get the attention of a worker. Seats and tables were all sticky. Cold inside with the aircon on whilst we had a child. Food come and was cold. And only half a piece of chicken in the Cajun pasta. And a handful of chips with the Jack Daniels chicken. Had to get the waitress’s attention and ask 3 times for a refill on our drinks. Quick enough to stand and watch when paying to ask you to add a tip! Will not be revisiting, Unfriendly visit and the ladies name was lorenza. Will travel further away to the next one in future. Avoid.

We had the bottomless chicken strips deal (£15 for all you can eat)! Our server Terrell was amazing - so lovely, looked after us and made sure we had plate after plate, even when we were sat outside. He made our experience - thank you!!

Overpriced and limited selection Service was good but although we had a free dessert offer off app, they still tried to charge!!

Really enjoyed the food and had very good service. The burger and the chicken strips were particularly good. We weren't rushed and the server Harriet was friendly and polite. Rather bizarrely the bill didn't add up and they didn't seem to understand why when I queried it. You can see that the bill should have been £58.95 without a tip but the total was £65.35 (see picture). Probably a system glitch but how many people have been overcharged ?

I’ve not been for a while and it’s just nothing like it used to be at Sutton Coldfield. The value for money is extremely poor. Cocktails are about right, but it’s a bit of cheat charging for two under a BOGOF offer, we would have rather have had the option to buy one for £8. A round of drinks with the meal for 3 for £50 was a bit out there. The drinks are mainly ice. The menu prices have shot up to almost double and the portions have been massively decreased. The starters have a fork full of salad. I ordered the full rack of ribs… I was absolutely given half, when I asked I was told it was a full rack. It looked nothing like the photos showing a full plate. An egg cup worth of coleslaw and a handful of chips. It’s really wild that TGI think people won’t feel short changes. It’s rare I feel the need to write a review, regrettably TGI value and feel good has gone. £170 for 3 people to dine and leaving feeling hungry isn’t great. I’m a very disappointed in the clear misleading of customers. Yes… increase prices to cover a great experience, but don’t expect customers to enjoy minimal offers for a premium price. I couldn’t justify visiting again.

Came out here last night for a late dinner and I have never been here before. The ambience was lovely. The food was a little bit expensive for what it was (in my opinion) and nothing amazing, just nice. I had the half rack of ribs & other starter plates such as the king prawns and hot wings. The calamari was my favourite. I did not have any alcohol but the coke was non refillable. However, the service was pleasant and quick. :)

Staff were friendly and decent service but food is very overpriced and average quality. Looks a little dated inside. Wouldn't bother coming back here again.

Food quality was below average at best. Service was inattentive considering it was 5pm and about 6 tables occupied. Wont be visiting again.

Not very impressed with the service, which is usually amazing at TGIs. Food was nice, but just so incredibly overpriced - I do not think we will be attending again in honesty.

BIG UP TERRELL!! He did an absolute brilliant job tonight. His customer service is spot on. If I could rate more it would definitely be over 5 stars but for me that was not enough praise. He genuinely deserves a pay raise. BEST SERVICE I’ve experienced at TGI’s so far! Always smiling and friendly⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Waited ages to be seated last night Friday 10th may at quarter to 5 (bearing in mind it was almost empty)!! Took ages to take order, didn’t have dairy free for a childs milkshake and was told it’s not worth them getting any in as it’s not that popular!! What about people with allergies!! Food was substandard and portions much smaller than in the past. Will not be going here again, what a shame as this place used to be a great place to go!

Received a parking ticket when it says on the front door that customers are entitled for 3 hours of free parking My family and I had dinner at TGI Fridays Sutton Coldfield (4 Newhall Walk, Sutton Coldfield) on the 6th of May, 2024. When we went back to our car after dinner, we noticed that a privacy notice was left on the windshield. Upon checking with the staff in th restaurant, they told us that we parked in the staff carpark, and that we will receive a fine later in the mail. The truth is, when we arrived at the restaurant it wasn't clear that it was a staff carpark and we did see at the front door that as customers, we were entitled to 3 hours of free parking, that’s why we parked ou car there. Apart from leaving a review here, we have also sent a message to TGI Fridays through their website, and if I do not hear from them, I would be very disappointed as big restaurants like them should have their customers’ back. And customer service was horrendous as well, having to speak to 2 different staff to simply get water for our kids (all adults ordered drinks). I specifically said that I needed water for the whole table (6 people) and the staff only brought us one glass of water. After asking for water for everyone again, he still only brought one more glass to the table, so I just gave up and get the kids to share the glass of water. Service was horrible and we will never come back again!

Repeat Birthday celebration visit as lady year we were really impressed. This year was appalling. Had to get our own cutlery from another table, service was very slow. Selected a steak from the menu, worst l have ever had, not cooked to medium rare and chewy gristle, shameless of them to ask £20 for that. If it hadn't have been my son's birthday l would have said something, but l didn't want to spoil his day.

We went on a busy Saturday evening as a table of 2. Terrell was our server and went above and beyond to look after us. We were originally sat next to a children's party, which was a bit loud. When we asked Terrell if we could move table, this was no issue for him and he fulfilled our request. Despite it being a busy evening, he always had a smile on his face and was friendly and kind. In regards to the food, everything was tasty and the portion size was fair. We waited a reasonable time for the food to come out.

No complaints about the food- yes it’s a little more expensive but always good. The service however is so slow - one server for a large area who also appeared to be fronting the reception area as well. Once the food order was eventually taken ( it took a while for the server to come back) it came out pretty quick - trying to get anything. You may need (condiments etc) proved difficult. Staff very friendly. One other gripe - please clean the tables and chairs . I appreciate that they get dirty but I want a clean one.

Great evening. Great service and a nice atmosphere. Wasnt too busy for a Friday and food was pretty fast. Enjoyable experience all round

It's tgi's in Sutton. Staff are always great here the service is superb. It's a bit pricey for what it is and the menu seems to get smaller everytime we go. I might be getting old but the music was more get up and dance than enjoy your meal.

Visited this restaurant with a friend yesterday evening and we were left standing for ages waiting to be shown to a table despite the fact that half the tables were empty. A couple came in after us and the “front of house” waitress just ignored us and showed them to a table despite the fact that the couple pointed out that we were waiting first. After seating them, she disappeared so we walked out and went to Pizza Express instead where we received a warm welcome.

Missing bits again from - A full rack of our baby back pork ribs with your choice of style, served with slaw and corn on the cob brushed with butter and your choice of house fries or sweet potato fries. NO corn or slaw yet again!! £24.95 to receive bits missing, not the first time either. I'd like a refund back to my original payment NOT just eat account, thanks.

We were served by Anna P tonight for ur joint birthdays and she made it very lovely with a piece of cake each. She always serves us and and is always so talkative and professional, thank you for an amazing night !!!

Nice afternoon and Anna P was particularly helpful with our neurodivergent kids. Fresh food, really tasty. Good experience.

Disappointed with our visit. Not been for a number of years and very suprised by the changes. More of a criticism of the chain this, but the menu now seems very limited to what it was and the prices are silly high. Particularly given the smallish portions you actually get. It was never a cheap place but I do remember you at least leaving full. Service was also quite poor with a number of errors made on the order. Seemed busy on Saturday evening so some people must like it, but I certainly won’t be rushing back.

Out of 2 vegan dishes but what we had was nice

I find it really expensive here but wanted to try it for the ambiance. I went with my child who ate a burger and an ice cream sundae from the childs menu along with a pepsi half pint. I had a starter as wasn't all that hungry and an alcohol free 2- 4 -1 cocktail. Just over £40 for that. Ive eaten at pesto on a night out with wine for 65.00 so i think its overpriced personally. The place is nice inside and the waiting staff friendly amd forthcoming. Service was a little slow considering it wasnt that busy. The menu is pretty much what you'd expect from an american style diner and the cocktails look amazing. Be great to stop off here for drinks on a night out as their 2 4 2 offer is all day every day! 👍

The food was nice for what it was, the menu seems a little limited compared to a couple of years ago it’s literally burgers or chicken or steak/ribs now. No fish , they always used to do salmon and a few different dishes. Service was ok for a Saturday afternoon, the prices however are ridiculous. Add a slice of garlic bread- £6.30. Small house salad in a little bowl - £5.20. Chicken sharer starter £16, it was not worth it and I have spent a lot less at much nicer restaurants over the Easter break. We didn’t have dessert, again very samey menu just brownie or fudge cake kind of stuff. As it’s out of our way to come here I don’t think we will bother again any time soon.

There is nothing worse than being handed an absolutely filthy menu. No excuse for a company as big as TGIs. We chose to leave.

Food is okay, took time to be ready but it is just staff, they are not really welcoming.

We really enjoyed the Cajun spiced chicken fajitas, they were delicious and great value at 2 for 1 for fajita Tuesday! Unfortunately my boyfriend couldn’t have a mocha as we were told the hot drinks machine had been switched off, but it was only 7:30pm...

In my opinion massively overpriced for what it is. It really isn’t anything special. Service was slow and waiter had to be reminded a few time of what we had ordered as he forgot.

Milan was amazing has been the best server I have had in tgi’s. Kept us going with drinks and didn’t have to wait to long for drinks, which was really important as we were doing bottomless brunch.

Bottomless brunch, amazing experience and great food. Charlott made our night , supplying us with everything we could need, super friendly and attentive. Drinks were good too, expecially the June bug

Food is massively overpriced, we were 2 of only 6 people in the restaurant and service was really slow. The waitress apparently had to make the pudding herself so god knows what the others in the kitchen were doing, well aside of swearing loudly!

We've been regular TGI customers for over 20 years. But today we're thinking it's the end ... Absolute rip-off in Sutton Coldfield today. One of our favourite dishes Jack Daniels glaze sesame chicken strips now comes in at over £20. Same recipe, but the portions are disgraceful and the 'salad' (which has gradually been decreasing despite being the cheap part of the meal) had to be found! Want to upgrade your fries to sweet potato fries... Yes for £2.90! Check out the menu... standard fries are £5.00, sweet potato fries £6.30. £1.30 difference not £2.90. Asked server to clarify, she promised to come back with answer and totally ignored it. Hardly anyone was dining in Sutton Coldfield restaurant on a Saturday lunchtime... This used to be peak time. I can see why not now, and I'm not surprised. TGIs used to be worth the pennies, good food, happy staff and great atmosphere. Today we had unhappy looking staff, absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever, it was so cold the few of us in there were eating with our coats on and we had the delight of paying over the odds for our food. Shame on you TGIs, loyal customers we've been, but you're losing us with your greed and decline in customer service.

Long wait for a table, nice but very noisy atmosphere, friendly staff and good service . Don't forget to validate your car before you leave.

This was my first visit in a long time and it will be my last. Could not believe the prices and quality of food, £16 for eight small potato skins and £10 for some pathetic chicken strips and as for desserts. Cheesecake at nearly £9...

First time at a TGI Friday, just stopped in for some food in Sutton Coldfield. Food was great, really enjoyed the cocktails, Amazing service by Anna :) Would come again!

Lindsey was brilliant, amazing welcoming manor and made us laugh loads. Food was spot on and cocktails hit the spot defo returning.
