TGI Fridays Derby in Derby

Appeared short staffed, vv. long wait, only had a starter for me & childrens meal for granddaughter. Poor communication & customer service, felt like the food was just thrown at the table with no thought, v expensive for a v basic meal! Childs fishfinger meal & I had nachos, both had soft drink and cost nearly £30! Defo won’t be going there again or recommend, it used to be quite a good experience years ago, defo gone down the pan so they say!😩

Went today 6th Oc 24’ - Sunday afternoon with 2 friends. Service was very very slow, drinks took ages, food took ages - wouldn’t mind but it wasn’t even busy. When my chicken burger came it was warm-ish - maybe because it had been on the side for ages. It was there when our starters came out 🙄 my two friends had burgers but they said theirs were okay - hot!! People were walking out. The toilets are disgusting, they don’t work, taps are dirty (limescale). The general cleanliness of the place is not good. It was cold in there too. Dread to think what the service would be like if they were actually busy. I will not be in any hurry to go back there!!

Booked a table for 6pm for my partners birthday. Seated after around 5 minutes of waiting and staff walking passed us. Once seated a lovely lady took our order. We waited around 15/20 minutes for the first lot of drinks to come out. We then finished these and ordered more. After waiting another 15 minutes the lovely lady came back and said our cocktails had been given to someone else and that she would personally go and make them for us. An hour and 20 minutes later some of our food began coming out to us. Sesame chicken strip and fries, cold. Asked for it to be taken back. The manager said he would get fresh fries for it. Another sesame and fries, this one was hot. A burger on its own, cold and potato tots 5 minutes later, these were hot. The 2 sesame chicken got exchanged but my partner was that fed up with the waiting he didn’t want his exchanged. The table behind us had the same problem, another woman walked out as she was fed up of waiting and I heard a few more customers complaining too…. All this while there was around 15 plates of food sat under the hot plates ready to be served. The food was all left under the hot plates for around 15- 20 minutes with 2-3 staff members stood by them not knowing what they were doing. Rubbish service apart from the one lady that was very helpful and gave us complimentary cake as my partners birthday meal was ruined.

Just been to TGI Friday Derby, they where so disorganised, food was being put on the hotplate but nobody knew who's food was who's. I have never seen so many people getting up and leaving due to cold food and long waiting time.

Went to this tgi on arrival there was a couple of people waiting Behind us for a table, we sat waiting 3 mins for a table got the table waiting an extra 20 mins before our order got taken most of the staff was talking with each other, or taken other peoples order we seen people orders get taken before us and once the order was taken waited an extra 20 mins for our drinks to come. And the wait for our food to come was even longer. Won’t recommend this tgi 👎🏽👎🏽 mean while there was orders wait on the shelf for the waiters to serve

Came in at 1pm on a saturday it wasnt overly busy. This place is without a doubt understaffed. This review isnt a reflection of the waiting staff as they were very friendly. Our drinks were left on the side for a long time, other people were judt getting up and fetching them off the side of the bar as there wasnt enough staff to fetch them. My husbands burger was raw... Extremely raw and once I pointed that out the lady next to us checked hers and it was the same. We saw quite a few burgers going back in after this so I'm not sure what was going off there. We complained and got his food taken off the bill but for an extremely slow service we still paid almost £40 without his meal which was pretty awful considering. There was many others complaining too when we were leaving. The member of staff was very unapologetic but clearly something needs to be done about the staffing issue. We never had this problem before at this branch but we wont be returning again after such a poor experience today.

12:17 Monday afternoon. Doors still locked. Staff sat down inside playing tiddlywinks on their phones. Doesn’t look like they have any intention of opening the doors. Shocking. Large groups of people waiting to get in.

Currently writing this review at the table I am sat at while waiting 38 mins to have a food order taken! Tables being sat down after us currently eating their food. Customers are having to walk round the restaurant to find staff to pay the bill, advised 20 mins to be sat at a table with 50% of the restaurant free… missing cutlery at freshly made tables so customers are having to ask for forks and knives to eat their food and 70% of the drinks menu not available due to stock… there no wonder it’s going into administration… won’t be returning… Frankie and Bennies is 1000% better

Me and my husband had a meal booked for 8pm last night (Friday 27th September). We have been a fair few times even though the place isn’t very clean the food used to be beautiful. Last night upon entering the hslf empty establishment, the First Lady was lovely and seated us fairly quickly. The tables were filthy, piled with dirty pots and food, on our table my fork was absolutely filthy, and food was all over the seats so I had to wipe it before I sat on it. After observing 5 staff members and what looked like a managerial person (the only one in grey) either talking at the kitchen stand, standing in towards the fire exit on their phones messing about and gossiping it took over 20 minutes for someone to even take out drinks order (that’s only because I asked a girl that was walking past and her reply was “oh I don’t take orders”) then we eventually made our order, we were bought the wrong order at first, another gruntled customer got up and confronted a staff member that he’d been waiting a considerable amount of time as staff were still in and out the fire exit messing around, our drinks order didn’t come full and my husband had to go to the bar to ask for his drink which was sat on the bar. After the right food came disappointment wasn’t even covering it, the chicken wings were burnt to which my husband wasn’t happy (couldn’t tell any staff as they disappeared and didn’t come to check to see if our food was ok) I ordered the loaded fries with “cheese sauce” and maple bacon… there was no cheese sauce just grated cheese chucked on and looked like it had been blasted in the microwave it was rubbery and not very nice. Shame as we’ve been a few times mainly because I love the cheese sauce on the chips but after last night we won’t be returning again, service was awful and food wasn’t nice at all. Attached a photo of the loaded fries with chilli cream, GRATED CHEESE and maple bacon. And no one came and asked if we’d like another drink! Shocking service

Booked table for 18:45(6:45pm) got seated at about 6:45pm got served for food and drinks at 19:15(7:15pm) drinks arrived 45mins later food arrived about 1 hour later with a wrong order and not a clue about vegans and vegetarian dishes. Poor service won’t be dinning there again. No wonder they’re going into administration 😂😂

Had a fantastic meal there this evening, 24/09/24. Our server was Hayley A. Very friendly, Great banter , a great service. Will definitely return for more banter Thanks Hayley.

Jenny our server was excellent. She tended to all of our needs, brought out a balloon friend and cake for my son who was celebrating his first birthday. Food was lovely. Little pricey but kids eat free which softens the blow. Fabulous experience because of Jenny.

We came here for a birthday and it was absolutely lovely. Definitely would love to come again. The service was brilliant and the food even better!!

Honestly, the menu ranges poor from what it used to be, and the famous sauce is not the same anymore. And the cost for what you get poor. I was looking forward to today, and I won't be back. I get a better meal for less at my local burger bar. A review I definitely thought I would not have to do. O and cleanliness on the table at the edges bad . Service awesome music a bit loud.

Worst experience we’ve ever had, the food was nice but the problem is it’s sat on the side for at least 15 minutes before it comes to you and if you wanted to send it back you’d have to search the place to find someone to take it back to the kitchen to heat up. Just no organisation, over half hour wait for the first drink to come out and then another 15 minutes until the other 2 drinks came out. Having to find someone to even order the food and drink, the guy who I presume was in charge decided to have 2 people on break at the same time so there was only himself and a young girl serving but she seemed more interested in speaking to two guys who must be regulars or something as she sat down with them the whole time we were eating. We were here for 2 hours and only had a main and 1 drink, I’ve never known such bad service! Get an extra member of staff in, ensure the staff you have servicing care and want to be there and have 1 behind the bar constantly making drinks and it would naturally sort itself out. What made it worse was seeing everyone else getting such a terrible experience, a party of at least 10 for a birthday were there and you could see how annoyed the woman was as it was as if they were invisible yet they would have been spending so much. People across from us asking over 3 times for the bill, the family behind them waiting over half hour for the bill and watching the mum and young child walk out in frustration, seeing people wanting to be seated walking round the restaurant trying to find someone who worked there, I’d be so embarrassed working there and felt sorry for the chefs as they were the only positive thing from our experience yesterday

Went in tonight 15/09/24 and the service was shocking we had to seat ourselves at a table and no one come to give us any menu's after 15 minutes we ended up getting up and walking out and going somewhere else there was one worker who looked like he had no clue what he was doing running around like a headless chicken in the dining aira it's not even worth the 1 star will not be going back and I most definitely will not be recommending this place to anyone!!!!

This has to be the worst restaurant experience in a long time. I was left for 10 minutes waiting to even be acknowledged so not a great start. Sadly it got worse. The table I had booked wasn't ready, the food stood for 20 minutes on the hot plate before we were served, we didn't even have all the cutlery on our table. The food was over priced and not great quality and the staff seemed more interested in chatting to a couple of regulars than making sure the rest of the customers were ok. We got up 4 times to chase up things we had already asked for. Safe to say I won't be returing. I very much regret choosing this as a place to celebrate a birthday and also paying the bill for such an experience.

A really great experience and we will return any time we’re in the area.

I went last night (15/9/24) and it was the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant ever. I love the TGI brand but this was an unmitigated disaster. I took my wife, daughter, son in law and the 2 grandchildren and over 1 hour later our drinks arrived and after a very odd experience where the server didn’t write anything down the food started to come in drips and drabs . The food when it did arrive was either Luke warm at best or poorly presented and that was after the staff stopped arguing between themselves … what is going on!!!!, and what a sad state of affairs for a once great venue 😔. Thanks for a disappointing night and a waste of over £150

Shout out to justina who works on the bar I didn't know what to drink so said suprise me and ended up with cherry liquor it's made amazingly would definitely have again the ice cream celebration brownie ice cream is really filling for it's price and full of great flavour every bite staff join in with chats and like having a joke and fun allways will stay for the atmosphere and food here

Burger was fire but for some reason you couldn’t order the chicken strippers separately which is thought was strange but the waiters were very nice and it was a good vibe.

food was amazing you have to try the big cheese burger and garlic chips those were amazing and purple rain was made perfectly would definitely go again the atmosphere was great it was an ideal temperature too Staff were amazing and helped explain some things to us and were patient with our friend thinking the person I want to shout out is Cameron the staff person for making amazing ice creams and helping us through the whole experience

Great food. Went in before it got busy. Good cocktail offers and fantastic service from Jenny who was great with our boys. Kids raved about the food they ate and asked to come back. Parents will know that this a great review but dangerous for parents wallets lol

Service was awful waited 15 minutes to get a menu another 15 for order to be taken and 45 for the bill was charged for mapel and bacon fries I never got also the restaurant was dead so I don't get how the wait times were so terrible 😒

Honestly don’t even know where to start. I’m not sure if we just visited on a bad day but from looking at other reviews, I don’t think this was the case. We arrived at 5pm, there was 3/4 other tables in the whole restaurant. It took 20 minutes before someone came to take our order and then a further 25 minutes for our starter to come out. We wouldn’t have minded waiting if it was busy. The food was not as good as always - maybe that’s because I had heard a man come out the kitchen and say to another table that he wasn’t a chef? 🤔 why are people cooking food if they aren’t qualified chefs? Service was just poor - had to go to the bar to get a refillable drink & had to ask for our main courses. For £70, I don’t expect to be sat waiting around for someone to come over in an EMPTY restaurant. Complete Waste of money. Creds to the young man who was working in the kitchen and trying to take our order though. Could tell he was the only hard worker there 👍🏻

Absolutely shocking. Arrived at 13:35 and left 15:55. The service is horrendous, the state of the restaurant and so is the quality of the food. We waited over 30 minutes to be served, having to get the menus ourselves. Once we ordered it took another half an hour for our drinks and an hour for our appetisers. Once we were finished it took another hour for our main meals. The quality of the food was both poor and greasy. We did not enjoy our meal. As for the state of the restaurant, when we arrived there were tables filled with dirty dishes which remained uncleaned our whole visit. I don't think I've ever seen such a dirty restaurant. When we arrived the restaurant wasn't busy and neither was it when we left. There's no excuse for this... Definitely would not recommend, the food isn't worth its value.

Where do I start... firstly the table was booked for 7:15.. we were seated at 7:35 waiting in a queue by the door. It was a total of 55 minutes until we received our drink, please tell me why my starter came out first - I had mozzarella sticks which had clearly been left out too long. Tables were dirty, blonde staff member was rude it appears we had the rude waiter of the day who ignored our empty plates twice and we asked her for our drinks received none and to ask again. It's called a bottomless drink but is not bottomless because we waited 50 minutes for the first one lmao. Will never go here again I have never been so disappointed in a service of food and drink in my life. Not to mention the table near by were so noisy! Felt like I was eating in nursery. Will never dine at a TGI's again because of this it's put me off, and sitting on the toilet the morning after was not the surprised I wanted either

When we got there had to hang about to get shown to our seat. When sat down the couple next to us got up and left. Wish I had done the same. Service was terrible took 30mins to get asked for our drink order and food order took an extra 15 mins for food to turn up. Tables left uncleaned for long periods of time people not getting served as well as other customers walking out due to food taking so long to come as was sat under the lights for long time as we could see it.

Absolutely appalling service and experience at TGI Fridays Derby on 22/08/2024. The wait on the food was an hour and a half and we had to ask the staff to come and take our order after waiting 30 minutes. People were leaving the restaurant because the staff were not coming to take orders and left us sat there. Complaint raised and feedback given via the website, complaint was acknowledged on 25/08/2024 and the manager asked for further information on where we were sitting and what we ordered. This has been provided and no update to this since. I have chased this up but still nothing. This is not the first time this level of service has happened at this restaurant, hair was found in food in previous visit and we had to send our food back to the kitchen. Something needs to be done here and the head office needs to get involved. I expect a response to the complaint already raised.

Avoid. Went with the plan of some late lunch and a drink at 2.30pm on a bank holiday. Waited 10 minutes plus for someone to even seat us (must have been only 5 tables being used so cant even say it was because they were busy). Person who sat us had no customer service, walked us to a table and walked off without a word. We walked out after a further 15 minutes of waiting without anyone having come over to even take a drinks order. Went across to Pizza Express instead. Everyday may be Friday in there but I would think even on a Friday the service would be better 🙄

Not satisfied with the service at all. Also the food wasn’t up to standard as most of it came to the table warmish or cold. Went for lunch on a Sunday (25082024) and it wasn’t full so would never expected to leave 2 hours later. After we sat down, it took more than 20 min to get our order and then 30 min later we got the kids drinks. One of the drinks was not the one requested, but it’s fine we understand that mistakes happen. 20 min later we received our starters, cold by the way. Cocktails came well after we finished the starters. The mains came 20 min later when we also ordered a couple more drinks and asked for the kids drink that was still missing after the mistake. Our drinks never came (the kids drink came almost right away) until we nearly finish the food as my other half decided to leave with half of the ribs still on the plate since we was very thirsty to carry on eating. We have been to Fridays in Derby many times and really have enjoyed so far, but this time, unfortunately, I believe will be the last. If you don’t have enough staff (only 3 this day) don’t accept more people in. Also, no table was being cleaned after people left which is kind of disgusting. When we left and after showing our frustration with the lady at the till, we ended up not paying the drinks, the kids and my other half meal. I know that in a way we were compensated by not paying for most of the things we had, but we would rather have paid the lot and have a great experience, like we’ve had before. It is a shame…

Arrived to an almost empty restaurant, got seated at a very sticky table, handed a menu covered in sticky food and kids' drawings, and then waited over an hour to get our food. When it finally arrived, the chef came out to tell us he had accidentally marked our order as complete when it hadn't yet gone out, and told us as compensation he'd get us a round of drinks the next time we go there, as if we'd ever come back! We also paid for refillable drinks but the staff tactically avoided eye contact and never came to check if our food was okay or if we needed another drink (after an hour since our drinks first arrived at our table), so we were never able to ask for a second round and had to go and buy a drink elsewhere after our meal. Some dirty tables were left uncleared for over an hour as well. Appalling service, understaffed and kept letting new customers in despite not having served those who had been there for 1+ hours. Will definitely never be returning, especially as it's quite a pricey restaurant to have such terrible customer service. We went as a treat and were genuinely upset after feeling our money was wasted. Date of visit: Sunday 25th August 2024

Absolute joke of a place. Drinks order taken then nothing, waited 15 minutes and then head somebody complaining that they had waited 45 minutes and no starter. With the prices charged you would think the service would be second to none. No excuse with the staff there. Dirty, sticky tables. We walked out and went to five guys. Won't be visiting again

Today's day is a drama, we waited 30 minutes before someone came to ask if we wanted something to drink, when we placed an order we waited over an hour for food, which was standing and waiting and no one was going to bring it to us, we had to remind them several times, generally there was chaos, there was a mess, the staff walked back and forth aimlessly, not serving the customer. I do not recommend, when I wanted to talk to the manager a lady came explaining that we had been waiting for 26 minutes, and from 2.30 to 3.40 is probably not 26 minutes, she explained that they were very busy and only 7 tables were occupied, the toilet was all wet and flooded, madness.

Absolutely atrocious!!! We waited 1 hour for our food before we got up and left because we saw our food in the window being touched by the chef after he licked his fingers!! All 4 of us ordered refills but no one came round to ask us if we wanted a refill and when we brought it up with one of the waiters he still charged us the full amount! Terrible food terrible service and terrible hygiene. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

My order has come and missing everything but onion rings nearly 30 pounds worth of food now I won’t get nothing back from just eat

Was waiting a while to get a table then waited for drinks order, eventually came and brought drinks. Waited an hour and a half for food to arrive wich was cold and not at all appetising. Terrible service. One person delivering food three girls just serving drinks and clearing tables. Very poor service.

We use to come here all the time and use to be my favourite restaurant, not been in a while so thought “let’s give it a whirl” not very busy and lady that served me was very nice. However the food and menu is not that great anymore. This place has kind of lost its USP and very overpriced £10 for a starter, £20 for a standard burger and £16 for a cocktail! Over £50 per person for a “meh” meal! Bring back the old TGI’s we miss you!

Awful , vastly understaffed . Seated .. waited 20 mins for drinks and order .. not once had a refill .. food took 50 mins .. after 30 mins was told we don’t have the kids pasta etc meals came out wrong and no veg sticks . Adults meals no sauces .. 2 staff on and 1 new who didn’t have a clue . Food sat on pass whilst staff kept going up and looking at the. Walking away . Manager was in kitchen yet food still going out wrong .. staff also should be checking it’s correct . Really poor all round had to get manager out today we wouldn’t be paying the full bill . Wage % apparently not high enough to staff the place .. head office blamed for making changes Also the app is misleading kids eat free not allowed to use for both kids as told it’s one app per each kid ?!??? Doesn’t say that anyway in the app Just says 1 kid per main meal why would you need two app codes ??

Very very disappointing taken kids out for birthday meal and it was the worst i have ever had. 20min to order drinks 1hr for food. Would not recommend..

Go in and demand to be served by Cameron (you'll know it's him because he's got a scouse accent mate). He's the best thing to come from Liverpool since Cilla (Surprise surprise). He put up with 8 tired hard work people needing a laugh that gave him a lot of stick. He took it all, including our hubcaps. He deserves more than a sundae for being employee of the week.

Cameron was great from start to finish. He went above for my pregnant friend to make sure she had drinks and food appropriate. Service was fast and efficient. Very friendly!

There's nothing quite like a TGIF before the movies

This is the second time we’ve given this place a chance and never again. We’ve literally just visited on a Friday night (8:30pm), booked a table thinking it would be busy but it was so quiet, probably more staff than customers. We were sat down at a table and there was a couple of dirty tables around us which, considering it was so dead, was surprising. We sat for around 15/20 minutes and no one had even come anywhere near our table, no drink order. One member of staff was sat at a customer table chatting to them the whole time we were there. After looking at the menus we realised they’ve upped the prices again (now £20.95 for a main) and we decided to leave. We headed next door to wagamama and have now got food on our table at 9:02pm. Honestly disappointing and I’m surprised anyone’s visiting there anymore, staff need training or something needs to change. Won’t ever bother visiting again.

Amber was lovely, she is so nice she gave us an amazing experience. Service was amazing, food was amazing. Will definitely be returning.

Very poor service. Had to go and get our own refills every time. We had to ask for clean cutlery. Very deceiving with the kids eat free with every adult meal. Read the fine print before you go. They will scam you out of money. Will never go again. Absolutely shameful and embarrassing they should feel

Table service was slow and when they did turn up, you couldn't hear a word they was saying as the music was far to loud. Food prices are shocking for what you get, it's pretty much on par with JD Weatherspoons but triple the price. I use to love TGI's but service, Atmosphere and price has put me off and a fair few others I know too.

Visited as a large party to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday evening and was disappointed from start to finish. Drinks were ordered and took nearly twenty minutes to be delivered to the table, then drinks were missing which took another ten minutes to sort. Food was ordered, read back to us and confirmed however they then couldn't provide an item on one of the meals which we weren't told about at time of ordering. This meant one of our party had to substitute for something else. As we waited for the food to arrive, which again took longer than expected, we watched a lot of our food sat there on the pass with the staff just walking past completely disregarding what was in front of them. When the food order came over most of the food was warm at best, it also turned out that one of the meals was missed regardless of the order being read back to us earlier in the evening. This just happened to be the meal of the birthday girl... We were informed this meal would be taken off the bill but had to query that as when the bill arrived this hadn't been rectified. Cameron had tried his best and was positive and attentive throughout our visit, the same however can't be said for one of the management team who when we queried the missing meal said "perhaps you should have gone to Nandos". Poor management and leadership in this restaurant led to a poor experience. Wouldn't return in a hurry and would gladly spend the price of the meal (£200+ bill) elsewhere.

I had bottomless sesame chicken, ot was delivered on point every time. Our waitress(Amber), was very polite.

The food, excellent. The atmosphere, amazing. The service, not so good, they were a little slow bringing me meals out. However overall, our server Amber, was excellent and she is brilliant at her job.

Kalam was attentive, service quick food great that’s all you can ask , top job👍🏻

To begin with we were sat at a table by a chap and didn't see him again. Waited a while to be served, however when we were served (by Izzy) the service was great! Couldn't fault her, perfect service. Garlic bread was not great. Everything else met expectations :) we didn't come here for gourmet cuisine, we came here because we were hungry and it perfectly did the job.

Cameron and Alisha gave us a great service, he was really lively and made sure we had a great time. But the food wasn’t really good as I didn’t like the burger

We dined and were served by Izzy, who was wonderful! We were able to order our food and drinks quickly, and it was great! Quite enjoyed the atmosphere too, music isn’t too loud.

Shocking service.. waiting 35 mins with my children at the table to order drinks and food as staff was serving people that came in after us. 🤨 we left… Bad service!!!
