Tesco cafe, Bar hill in South Cambridgeshire

Steve and his team were absolutely amazing. Steve helped us set up a last minute gathering with about 40+ people. The food was superb (we'll come back another time for dinner!) and the staff were all kind and so helpful. Thank you so much for helping us make it a good day.

At very short notice, the manager and staff sorted us out with food and drinks for a wake. Wonderful team with wonderful service

Three of us had a really lovely lunchtime meal, wednesday 25th September. Perfectly cooked. Haddock and chips, battered halloumi in a brioche bun with chips, and sausage and mash. We all absolutely enjoyed it. Very good value too. Thank you

What a wonderful experience with our friends from London. Living ourselves in the sticks in the far North of Cambridgeshire I wanted to find a venue midway between us. This can always be a little hit or miss, but here it was most definitely a hit. The food is excellent, good portions well cooked, and hot. The atmosphere suited us as we were able to enjoy a good catch up without having to shout over blaring music or tv’s. The bar staff were polite, friendly and welcoming, and as for the person who gave a dismal review because they were left sitting for 15 minutes, I suggest that they learn to read before they criticised. It clearly states on every table on the menu holders that you go to the bar to place your order. There you will receive a first class service, with a bit of friendly chat which added to the joy of our experience. We have already booked a return visit for another get together with our friends.

Absolutely shocking! Awful food, coffee comes out of a machine and the man serving,I wouldn't give a job to if he was the last man on earth. Why did Tesco get rid of the lovely cafe they had before?.Great staff, lovely coffee, great selection of food and replace it with a Greg's!? The worst food imaginable. I would give it 0 stars but that wasn't an option.

An unpleasant experience, I booked two weeks ago to celebrate a special day, and since we arrived it was unpleasant, the first thing was that no one greeted us at the entrance, we were standing there afterwards We went to sit down and guessed our reserved table, and over 15 minutes and no one came next to us to take our order. There was a person at the bar eating as if there were no customers without Finally, in the end we got up and left.

Attended this pub for the first time, with family for a wake Pro's: * Friendly and approachable staff who where very accommodating * Plenty of free parking * Large spacious pub * Staff provided a buffet - which I thought was good value for money * Entire venue was on the ground floor with no steps, ideal for those with mobility issues Negatives: * In my personal opinion this pub has limited curb appeal * No atmosphere, however it was early afternoon on a Wednesday so limited customers Would I like to return: No, but only because their are other pubs nearby. I personally would rate it 4/4.5 star

Have no idea what the food is like as have tried to book twice now on the blackrose website who didnt have the courtesy to even reply. Useless company.

Nice restaurant with diligent staff. Good food

Great place to go, staff and regulars are friendly to talk to and that Veronica persons review, have no idea what she is going on about, the Fox shuts at 11pm on Thursday and Saturday and the Manager calls last orders at 10.30 on both those days and if they close early they will make it perfectly clear, but good environment and you can have a laugh with all the staff.

Says close at 11pm the Stuff is very a racist told us they close at 9pm then called last order at 10pm not very kid friendly would not Recommend.

Really slow service to get served and receive food and taste is a pass. Coffee is the only good thing there. I think there will be surge of customers relocating to Greggs when it opens.

A staff member there intimidated us and caused a scene after we ate some food (as well as ordering from the teaco cafe itself) that came from the tesco the cafe is located in. We did this due to a member of our company having dietary restrictions. She stared at us from across the cafe and until telling her manager who did not really care. She raised her voice and had the rudest attitude ever. She made a small thing into a big deal for no reason. Other places like the Greg's we went to after did not care at all that we brought food in. If you value customer service, don't go here.

Cheap drinks and friendly staff but the whole place needs a revamp inside and outside. From what I saw of the food, I wouldn't be in a rush to eat here.

Breakfast uninviting Cold Greasy egg bacon sausage fried bread only thing edible was hot hash browns won’t order breakfast again .

Great place with great mates and Ashley and Claire are the best hosts :) Would deff come back again.

Great meeting place friendly and clean Lovely welcoming pub , nice decoration for Christmas, nice layout of pub. Usually visit once a year to meet family. Well done everyone and the service we received.

Friendly staff, great overnight stop.

Big thank you to the Fox Bar Hill for your nice food, drink and overall excellent customer service. We were a group of 15 people visiting the pub to celebrate a friend's birthday and were positively surprised by the warm reception and outstanding hospitality of the staff.

Didn't get to try the food as we were too late . Arrived in our motorhome and parked overnight, having had a few beers . Friendly staff will definitely be popping back .

Niets gegeten dus geen sterren daarvoor ... hing een formele sfeer toen wij er waren. Er zijn twee aparte ruimtes, althans zo komt het over. Één voor tv kijken en te poolen, andere als zit ruimte.

Wat een teleurstelling. Volgens de informatie hier is de keuken open tot 21:00. We arriveerden hier om 18:05 en kregen te horen dat er geen eten meer geserveerde werd.

£6 a portion for the size I got was very pricy. But nice more like £3.50 really.

Met up with a friend for long overdue catch up. Had chicken & veg skewers on bed of couscous, side salad & pitta bread. Really delicious

Good wholesome food at a reasonable price

Waited over an hour for the food, after some very pathetic excuses we got our money back and left.

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE FOOD INTOLERANCES OR ALLERGIES. Their staff clearly needs training to do a thorough check of *all* ingredients in a dish. In my case I asked for no onion and they simply removed the onion listed in the dish, but failed to consider that the tomato sauce has it already incorporated, so I have gotten sick as a result.

Only used it as a pit stop before playing The Cambridgeshire, which due to being used as a 'government hotel', had limited facilities. Two ales on, reasonably priced. Would use again when playing the same golf course.

Just popped in for a cup of tea at 10am before work. Staff were very friendly.

I personally like the fox and have been going for years. Recently the food has gotten a lot better and is very nice for the price. Drinks are cheap and the servers are very friendly.

The chicken and gravy I had was sublime, made KFC look like amateurs

Scampi & chips were lovely. Nice and hot. Black Forest Sundae was yummy. Service lovely, threw in a pot of tea for each of us which was a nice touch. Shame pub was a bit quiet but then it was a Tuesday. Definitely be back.

Very nice place, friendly atmosphere and all the people were lovely. Food was nice but was some oil on the plate which was a little down but is value for money and would recommend and just off A14 was easy to find and nice brake from driving.

Delicious food with various options.

Me and the local car group have started coming here on evenings to chill out, have some food, drinks and play some pool. Food is top quality, particularly the chicken is my favourite! Thanks to Lee for always looking after us & not getting annoyed when we ask for the pool cues😂

We visited the Fox in Bar Hill recently for lunch and must say had a wonderful afternoon. The food was very reasonably priced and very well cooked. The staff were very polite and friendly and especially our waitress Sammy and supervisor Claire who was very professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about the finer details of the menu, ie gluten content etc. Will definitely return for a further visit.

Nice food but slow to arrive, even though there were only a few others dining on an early Thursday evening.

Easy to reach from A14. Service a little slow and meals not all brought out together so cooled before eating. Had to asked a couple of times where it was!

Visiting a supermarket was never high in my day out top ten, but bar hill Tesco, near Cambridge, has a little secret tucked away upstairs that eases my pain quite significantly. The cafe, is an oasis of calm, nicely set out, rarely busy, with a menu to please everyone. The staff are particularly courteous and attentive, I must give special mention to Constantin, polite, friendly and having worked in retail myself, I don't know how he manages to stay so upbeat. Food is tasty and delivered in minutes, can't fault it!

Just walked out of this pub for a disgraceful lunch. Ordered a child's penne pasta, a caesar salad, chicken tenders, and a steak dinner. We waited approximately 30 minutes before someone came out and said there was no tomato sauce for the pasta. Guys.. There's literally a Tesco across the road, go buy some if you're out? And why would you wait 30 minutes after you've cooked it before telling us? Then the caesar salad came out... With hardly any lettuce and half melted Grated mozzarella on top. The menu said 'hard cheese'. When questioned on this, the server said: we don't do hard cheese. Finally there was a big black hair on one the mushrooms on the steak dinner. We gave up and asked for a refund and left confused and disappointed.

The food was delicious and great value.

The food was really nice, freshly made and lots of it! I had single chicken burger and it was large- there is also an option for double and triple! Service was also amazing, super nice and kind. Did I mention that prices are really low? Very much recommended :)

The pub was very spacious and not many people were there in the daytime, so not sure why the coffee's took an age to arrive.. Beer (Madri) was fine.

Well, I liked the Chicken and Ham hock pie, with mash, brocoli, peas, beans, gravy. Was very nice! Local to where I stay for work so will be returning definitely. Pretty decent!

Nice, enjoyed a ham n cheese toastie, was a posh one haha, I even ate the salad as that was good too. Carling £2.50 a pint, footy on the tele, but i don't do girlball... so had 2 pints n headed back to the 6' X 6' box for bed... a very good 4 stars.. thanks..

Food was well presented and nice and hot. I was there with friends on Sunday lunch time, it was disappointing to see it so empty.

Always a good hearty meal and great value too. Lovely piece of fish, Chef. This is our first choice when we are on the way back from London. It is a shame we don,t live closer. Lively sports area or quieter restaurant to suit all preferences. The small staffing team work very hard to please. Thanks guys.

There was myself my son my daughter in law and four of my grandchildren, I'am 61 and used to go there occasionally when I was 18, it brought back fond memories 😊 all our food was great, we all had such a lovely time, staff lady behind the bar was really friendly we chatted about old times, I am going again in just over a week, with other family members and really looking forward to it 😊

Nice quiet pub, was hoping for Sunday roast which they don't do, but the pie and mash was lovely and the sticky toffee pudding very good. If they did a roast dinner on a Sunday I'm sure it would be much busier.

Shocking service. 1 hour for a meal with only 10 customers on the pub. Rude staff. Stay away.

Nice boozer. Lovely lady behind the bar today. Toilets are a disgrace though. If they were sorted it’d be a great place.

No atmosphere and the food wasn't up to much but the company I was with was excellent!

I've only been here once for a work meal. I had a good time and the food came out at a decent pace especially since there more than 15 orders. I had the chicken burger with garlic mayo and chips, it was ok but couldn't taste the garlic mayo whatsoever. The staff members were nice and friendly, would recommend this pub.

NICE LOOKING PLACE BUT NO FOOD !

Oh my word what awful food! 😖 Fish was over cooked and so dry. Think the chips were cooked last week and reheated but almost cold. Tartare Sauce and mushy peas were nice though. Took ages for food to come out to the table . Certainly won't be going there again!

Ordered £65 worth of food waited an hour and no food. Went up to ask for an ETA to be told it would be at least another hour because none of it has been started to be cooked. There was one other table that had ordered food that got told the same. We wouldn't of even known about the delay if we didn't ask. TERRIBLE WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!!!

So many lights outside but clearly suffering from the staff hiring issues. Staff are polite but focused on socializing and some of the customer were quite loud and play fighting. Food was ok. Chicken gravy was ott spicey . Good was tasty and hot. Knives were useless on chicken breast

Very busy Halloween kids party!

The pub was pretty empty and the 3 members of staff on duty looked stressed & ready to quit. They put on a brave face & did the best they could. We had one lady behind the bar, a young lady waiting on tables & the chef in the background praying no more food orders came in!!!! Food menu was very limited with no stock available. My burger was ok. My wife enjoyed the pie & mash. Such a shame as the pubs in a great location & could do well if it was funded & supported more. I wouldn't rush to go back.

Been waiting an hour for our food, place wasn't even busy when we ordered. When we asked they say they're plating up the food, that was 10 minutes ago. How long does it take to make a sandwich and a burger? *Update food is here finally, no apologies from staff, food is bland and definitely not worth the wait.

Disappointed with the menu now hardly any choice

Visited one night while down at a nearby hotel on a weekend visit. The staff at The Fox are extremely friendly and welcoming and seemed to be busy around the pub while not serving. We ordered food here which was extremely well priced and I was pleasantly surprised to really enjoy my dinner, so much so, I noticed the Chef behind the bar talking to another staff member so I went over to thank him and especially for the chicken gravy!!! The pub is very spacious so you can hide away if you want, has a garden area too plus a TV if you want to watch sport programmes. Lots of parking and a nice setting. I would go again in a heart beat if in the area.

Good helpful staff beer and food Good

Inexpensive, spacious and very good food with a decent selection. Most important of all for us, it's a dog friendly place which even provides a bowl for the dog.

Went for breakfast. They stopped doing them after covid. Doe'th... Shame about that. Walked in and walked out after a quick coffee. They only comment that was made is that the place looked spotless. Shame. Maybe if I am that way in another three years I may check first. Fingers crossed.

Basic at best, but the food we ordered was hot and tasty, and was bought to our table with a smile. Would go back again.
