Nice staff or what few there are left. But is now a faceless screen ordering place. No cash ordering either. So rubbish acess for many older people and given the stress caused to someone with a learning disability who was there today caused by the money grubbing based change, useless there too. They'll have us stocking the shelves next too. Avoid. Is now awful.

New CREAMS@ CAFE TESCO GATESHEAD My First Time Trying Creams desserts, We Ordered Through Just Eat, and they were delivered to the Door. I've used the Tesco Café in Gateshead, many Times Fantastic Staff & a charming Manager always Happy. She Recommended Creams so we gave it a try, and we were Not Disappointed. I've Never had desserts as good as this in my life absolutely amazing. If You have a Sweet Tooth Creams is a Must. We Ordered Strawberry & choc waffles, Royal Crepe, Large scoop Shake and ice cream. It was Really Indulgent, Such a Treat & a Meal on its own. The waffles and crepe were so fresh and the ice cream was still frozen when it arrived. We will definitely be ordering again :)

Called for a late lunch after visiing the Baltic; the staff were very pleasant, the area was clean, and our food was very good. Prices are competitive.

a decent choice of snacks and meals, and counter service; although there was a problem with trays. Service was very slow even when just serving tea and coffee - and the cafe wasnt busy.

My hubby and I popped into Tesco cafe Gateshead recently for a cuppa and a scone before heading to the pictures. I was so surprised at how good my coffee was and looking at the menu it was so reasonable. Will be back again for food next time.

I’ve dined here a handful of times over the last five years or so and each time I hope that the experience can’t possibly be worse than the last. Each time I’m disappointed. Sunday lunchtime and the place should be doing brisk business yet there’s only a handful of diners and a chunk of seating cordoned off presumably to save the staff some cleaning work. The issues, as ever, begin at the counter as you find that each item of the kids meal has to be verbally announced to the till operator to update the POS to generate a barcode that can be charged through the till. This takes forever as items are added and we establish that the kids meal button hasn’t been pressed first so they have to be voided and entered back in. All the while barely a word is exchanged. A small queue forms. A kids meal needs to be swift with a time pressured parent and a six year old. This was anything but. Eventually we make our way out to one of the few tables not festooned with debris and tuck into fairly average fare from what is now a vastly skimmed down menu. Midway through the meal a member of staff sees fit to chastise the child with no reference to me for allowing her shoe to come into close contact with the seat pad. Not sat with shoes on the seat, sitting on the chair and because of her size her shoes are closer to the upholstery than an adult. It is not your place to discipline children... if there’s an issue talk to the parent directly instead of mumbling something about keeping new chairs nice as you walk away. Utterly abysmal experience from start to finish.

My partner and I went to Tesco Gateshead for a sandwich before going to the Cinema. I selected an egg and my partner had tuna and sweetcorn. My sandwich had very little egg in it and no yolk/yellow part. There was a smudge of tuna and we counted 5 pieces of sweetcorn. Very disappointing. I wanted to complain there and then but my partner is not a complainer.

.. except the choice of better cafes in central gateshead is limited. Tea was OK, the coffee very bitter. Prices a bit steep.

Best tesco cafe i have been too in a while..excellent customer service staff all friendly.. great value for money.. food is cooked much better now and presentation is much better massive improvement in recent months i would defiantly come back..

Sensational value breakfast. Choose any 8 items plus a pot of tea for less than 6 GBP. Please bring Tesco to Australia!

This is the biggest Tesco I have seen everything you need in there need more time to spend in there the cafe. Amazing

They have changed the fayre over the years to become too ordinary. They used to do Sunday roasts and that was good value. They used to do branded coffee and that was nice. But nothing to write home about now. The staff are good and efficient.

First time we've been in here, although in all honesty it's not very often we shop in Gateshead centre. We had coffee and scones, nice and reasonably priced. Will drop in again if we down.

Me apareció en un sándwich de tocino alrededor de las once de la mañana. También me dieron un café americano. El personal era encantador, rápido y eficiente, y mi café era agradable. Sin embargo, el bacon sandwich llegó rápidamente y el tocino era tibio. Me lo mandaron de vuelta y dentro de un par de minutos la misma a ponerla en y todavía no todo lo caliente. No sé cómo se puede cocinar su comida, pero que necesita para mejorar y cumplir con las leyes de la temperatura de la comida.

I visited here today and had my lunch with friends the staff were really friendly and I love the Christmas display. We all had the roast turkey lunch and cant complain for a fiver each it was really nice.

I occasionally come here for lunch when I am in the area for work, and I've left it too long to eat so hunger leads hope to triumph over experience. The alternatives are Greggs, Burger King or the takeaway Tesco salad bar - the last is the best option but you can't sit down. The prices are a bit too high, the service at the counter is a bit too slow (some staff very friendly, some not and there are not enough of them), the portions are small, the tables are often a bit dirty and there are piles of crockery left for a long time... and the food is not very good. I don't blame the cooks for the poor food - it is not the cooking, it is the quality of the products. I never enjoy the food, but sometimes I just want to sit down and the other choices are poor. The other customers don't look happy either.

Popped in here for food after a bit of shopping. I had fish and chips and in honesty, it was deplorable, massively overpriced and of poor quality. With my work I pop into places like this a lot as I'm on the road but I wouldn't return.

I have been here a few times now, I stop off with my son after school when we have been shopping. It always seems better than the fast food options for him.As soon as we walk in the staff greet us like friends, pay at the counter and the staff bring food over to the table, they are very attentive. the place is always spotless and no matter how busy it is the tables are always kept clean.Its great value for money and more like a restaurant than a Cafe.We will be back
