Tesco Cafe in Spelthorne

It is our local Tesco for all the everyday needs but thought to try the cafe. Food was ok but could be better. Staff and service was very good and cafe was clean.

Terrible cafe. You have to order via a machine, which given the cafes 'older' customers, means long lines. The same person making the drinks had to help customers to place their orders. Only one person serving. The management should be ashamed of themselves.

Much better than the old cafe, well done.

Great food, and nice coffee. Great selection of cakes, particularly the lemon muffins.

Not an improvement. Self service screens doesn’t allow for customisation. Food soggy, chips hard & undercooked. Manager needs lesson in dealing with customers - tone curt & unhelpful. Food choices limited to previous cafe. Kids meals have shrunk to small toddler portions. Only cans, no bottles & no glasses or ice offered. Overpriced cans compared to store underneath the cafe. No toilet sign, so constantly hassled by people asking where the toilet is! Cafe had a make over but not the toilets - they’re still dire! No mobile signal & tesco wifi patchy, so don’t assume you can work & grab a coffee/food. Food choice compares to old menu is limited. The only element of this whole visit that made it bearable was the beautiful staff member Liz - that lady needs a promotion!! This cafe user to be a little hub for the elderly. The self-service screens does not cater for this age ranch & they user to go because the staff were helpful & friendly & probably the only human contact they might get in a day. Staff & manager so focused on screens with orders & whipping them out to tables in a certain timeframe, there is no time for those kindly chats to the elderly, to help them to their tables, to even check the food is cooked fully & edible. screens & time targets do not make an eating establishment successful - people skills of staff, care & attention to food & your customers, knowing your clientele esp your regulars & menu choices- along with being clean make all the difference. Tesco, whoever decided in management that this change was “for the better” needs sacking & someone who understands the demographic & clientele of its cafes & their wants & needs. needs to be brought in instead! I purposely used to come into the Ashford/Stanwell Tesco location because of the cafe to meet friends/work rather than my more local one at Sunbury, because there they have Harris & Hool another overpriced, lack of choice establishment. When I read Harris & Hool had not won a re-contract I was looking forward to Sunbury possibly changing back to the one like Ashford, but if it turns into this new self service monstrosity - I won’t be bothering with that either - 15+ years of loyalty, ruined in one visit by unthought out changes which were not consulted on with the very people who frequent the original - Tesco management needs to really rethink this particular strategy. They are not mcDonalds. Their regulars don’t want it to be McDonalds & if they’re trying to emulate them, there is a LOOOOONG way to go before they can claim to be as good! This has got to be up there. as one of the worst “upgrades” ever!!

If I wanted a fast food experience I’d go to McDonald’s! I want to place an order in person and to be able to tweak an order, eg teabag on the side or no beans with the cheese & beans jacket. New interim manager was rude, don’t like the new setup at all. Toastie was soggy, chips were under cooked and soggy too

Terrible customer service the lady that was on till was keep telling me on ironic way slow down when I was making my order , very disappointed

Tesco Ashford Middlesex.. Absolutely disgusting and health hazard waiting to happen.. I order a normal fried breakfast with pot of tea, before I even had a chance to get my sauces and sugar the member of staff put my breakfast on my tray before I even had sat down? Obviously the breakfast had been sitting for god knows how long? Stone cold and rotten! Thinking of taking it further to be honest! Worst I have ever seen 😡😡😡

Had a breakfast.. not worth.. just a burger & coffee cost 7.25£.. its crazy. If u go to pub breakfast less than 7.25£ & will get huge breakfast..

The best food I ever try. Everything was fresh and cooked perfect. The cappuccino was great. Most friendly staff I ever met

It's just consistently good. I like that I can clearly see the calories on the menu. Just a easy place to get a coffee before a shop.

Where to start? The worst food I have ever had at a tesco Cafe anywhere - not a patch on the Solihull one. Good points - the avocado and haloumi muffin was good, reportedly, and the napkins were a good size. The hash browns were OK. The bad stuff - The Breakfast - lukewarm beans; nearly cold sausage; tough, dry bacon; fried bread a cross between ancient leather and reinforced concrete - deep fried, overcooked, leaking an oil bath, and so solid the fork stood up. Most of this appalling food seemed to have been sitting around going cold or tough for an hour before serving. Oh, and despite 1000+ people dying from covid every week right now, not one of the staff had a mask on. pot luck what they breathed all over your fare..... ...if I wasn't so hungry I would have abandoned it all .... ...I should have.....

Awful service I bought pic a mix lunch for my granddaughter her sandwich was hard and awful dry bread so I asked for fresh sandwich they returned the same sandwich teeth Mark's included the'd warmed up in the microwave which I know becaus when I went to complain again the manager was talking about me rudely behind the counter and re warming again I was shocked watching and listening when I also said the hollandaise sauce wasn't fresh she came to our table and proceeded to argue getting very close to my daughters face being very intimidating I asked her to leave never have I witnessed such appallingly service and to upset my daughter and scare my granddaughter i went downstairs to inform customer services who couldn't be more apologetic total lack of health and hygiene checks and disgraceful lack of customer service from totally unprofessional cafe manager shocked is a understatement

Horrible service.I went for coffee with my friend. We ordered mocha but unfortunately what we get was horrible hot chocolate. The barista didn't know what kind of coffee bled are using..Shame

Staff are friendly, place is lovely, but the coffee is among the worst unfortunately! Almost cold and flavourless. I hope they try drinking what they’re selling.

Order a jacket potato with cheese and beans came out with just beans asked two members of staff they both just looked confused never did get cheese 🙄🙄🙄

It's a standard supermarket cafe that's made an effort to appear a little bit special. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

Yuck, the service was good but the food was appalling, if that's the best Tescos can offer then they need to get their food from Lidl, Iceland or Aldi for the cafe.

Comfortable cafe. Have always found the staff to be friendly. Food is fresh and tasty.

Some days better than others. Friendly staff but when under pressure tables get missed from being cleared and orders are sometimes delivered incorrectly.

A very ordinary cafe trying to punch above its weight. Staff appeared indifferent.
