Absolutely abysmal. How disgusting. Why should I pay the full price for serving myself? I expect, when I go to a store, to be served by a human. This Tesco's is an absolute disgrace. I don't understand the people who in some semblance of English informed me I could pay. After using a machine to serve myself! What the hell is happening? I will never use this store again. Disgusting and dirty, isles filled with cages. Produce everywhere. An extremely horrendous experience. Why have tills? When no one is there? Do the staff get extra pay for looking after machines that take their jobs? Give me a human, someone to say hi to. Someone to appreciate. No machine has a human interface. I am a human. Not a robot. Tesco's, you are disgusting!!!!

As a local, I've been witnessing the downgrading of this store. Rocketing high price of everything. They try to trick you by making everything yellow labelled, but people are not that stupid. Today was the last time I go to this store, after going regularly for the past 7 years. The stone-faced old lady at the self-checkout till acts like everyone owes her money. Carefully checking your age even if you've got a 5 year old daughter with you. She must think you gave birth at 13 years old or even earlier? Either she couldn't think or couldn't serve people non british.

We went today to do the weekly shopping at Tesco Extra Abingdon. All went great and fun. We used the self scan to scan all our stuff so we can benefit from the use of the scanner. All went smoothly until we went to self checkout and try to pay for everything. The system actually asked to rescan everything again, all the 68 products and put them on the scale(whichdidn'tfit anyway)!!! I just wanted to leave everything and leave the shop, but eventually, I went to a normal till and put all the products on the counter. So, next time when you are visiting Tesco, don't bother to use the self scan, it's just a waste of time!

My experience at this branch was not the happiest. We go to the bother of self scanning so that we can get in an out rather than queueing. At the self scan check out today we scanned 61 items and yet store help had to rescan 42..... what was the point of us doing it ourselves peoperly to have almost all of the shop rescanned? I understand random scans but 42 out of 61 items....ridiculous.!

Staff are great, produce good. But avoid Sundays- the mgmt don't seem to think people shop on a Sunday!! The Dot com operatives were struggling, the managers need to do a shift in their shoes! That was just the chicken shelves ... it was similar for the mince and other areas too. (Pic taken at 10.45am so not long after store opening!)

I was in store by 7am, the car park was virtually full. Absolutely disgusted that so much stuff wasn't available. Half my shopping list, including goods required for Christmas, were not in stock. Appalling experience shopping at the automated tills. Ludicrous forcing of customers to scan shopping utilizing a belt not fit for purpose. A large trolley purchased but with great resentment. Put staff back on before you lose your customers. If I wanted to scan my own products I’d get a job being paid to do it. I want the shop to help me. Think of your shoppers- we are tired and do not need our lives made more difficult and our lunchtime taken up standing in queues using rubbish scanners

We went to shop there today and of course all the staff operated tills had really long queues so we had to go to the new self service tills as we didn’t have time to stand in a queue for ages. Little did we know this way of scanning was so much worse. We couldn’t pack the trolley immediately, we had to scan the items then move it onto the scale so it can recognize the item, meaning our shopping was towering to the ceiling. We had to keep asking this poor lady for help as every other item we scanned “was not recognized”. The overall experience with this new way of scanning and paying is the worst thing tesco has done, even more so the manager wasn’t even on site to talk to. Please tesco just hire more people and get rid of these systems, no one in our queue liked using it. We definitely won’t be doing our Christmas shop here, or coming again until these systems are removed and we get the staff operated tills back. I’m sure I speak for a large amount of your customers, please listen to us.

In a world where the cost of living is increasing and stores like Aldi and Lidl are providing lower cost products. Tesco is combating this by increasing its prices and providing a steadily worse service. Here in Abingdon, the kiosk now closes at 9pm, the garage only has two pumps open and the staff at the self serve tills stand around gossiping and looking at their phones, rather than handling the eight customers who are stuck because the tills can't recognise a banana. Perhaps a rethink of the strategy is in order?

My little boy fell over and hurt himself in the meal deal isle, there was no sign up so I went to ask someone if they could come and put one there as my little boy had hurt himself and she said 'i think someone's going', didn't even ask if he was ok. Waited a couple of minutes and nobody came so I went to the bathroom and found a wet floor sign myself so nobody else hurt themselves. First time visiting the store, won't go again :(

Like all supermarkets, prices have skyrocketed. Most of the staffed tills are closed, meaning there's usually a choice between very long queues for a staffed one or long queues for self service. The only really decent thing is their post box often has knitted toppers on.

Still quite a lot of "staffed" checkouts but it turns out they are all closed, including the "kiosk" until 8am. On my visit today there was also a sign on the self checkouts saying they were card only due to "technical issues". So I was going to leave my shopping and go elsewhere but it turned out there was ONE self checkout taking cash, which I grudgingly decided to use. But the Tesco staff lady put my few items through that. Pointless as in their computer it no doubt registers as "customer was happy to use self checkout", which I most definitely wasn't.

Very disappointed that you have converted a lot of the cash points to self service. Purchased a basket full of items an spent ages putting items through the till and had to get a Tesco person to authorise putting items in the bags. At the end the till did not give me my club card discount nor my points so had to go to customer service to get these refunded. I was told the last few tills still have a PERSON to put the items through. But there were long queues at these points. I think you are going to lose a lot of customers who do their weekly shop and want the items put through by a PERSON. I think this constant reduction in cashiers has gone too far and you will lose a lot of regular customers myself included.

We visited Abingdon store today 10/01/23 & unfortunately my wife lost her watch somewhere in the store between 1030 & 1109 or in the cafe between 1109 & 1130. I have tried contacting the store at least 10 times since discovering the loss on getting home our only stop. I can not get past the automated system. We live 11 miles away so it would appear that we have to return tomorrow. Unsatisfactory customer service experience.

This is the best Tesco I've ever stumbled on. It's massive and the cafe is really nice. We were driving on the A34 and needed to make an emergency unplanned stop to feed our daughter. The service here was so good and the prices obviously so much better than normal roadside services, that it's made us plan to stop here on future journeys

On Sunday the 31/07/22 I went down to this store to pick up a few things for the week and noticed a pricing issue on the Heinz tomato sauce. I always look at the price per 100g before deciding which size product I purchase, and immediately saw an issue. the 910g per 100g price was 34.7p, correct, however, the 700g bottle was marked at 30.7p per 100g. I quickly used my phone to get the accurate price, and was actually 39.9p per 100g, making it quite a bit more expensive that the bigger bottle. I looked for an assistant to query the pricing, and when I mentioned it, she literally bolted from me, making me think that this is something that possibly happens quite often. after paying for all my groceries, I proceeded to the customer service counter and asked for the store manager, and the only available person was the day manager. I explained the who story, and he said sorry and would look into it. I thought that this was quite weird, as I expected for him to take my number and give me proper feedback, so I became suspicious. Today, Thursday 4th August I went back to check, and it was still the same, so my efforts meant absolutely nothing, and all this was, was false advertising and trickery to buy the more expensive product, which is cheating and fraud. I do not trust this store any more, and only because of their actions. I gave them the opportunity to correct the issue, and nothing was done, confirming that it was just trickery. Well, goodbye Tesco, Aldi will be finished soon, and you will never see me again.

Please please sort out and update your scan and go system . I have lost count the amount of times I go to that shop and they are not working. So frustrating when the store is busy and people queuing 4 deep down each aisle. Never have this problem in Sainsbury’s. Maybe developing a app for your phone which can be used as scan and shop , like Sainsbury’s smart app , will be good for customers and when the hand held scanners are not working in store ( which is all the time) customers have another option.

Lovely big store with ample parking. It used to be a good place to shop, get in and get out quickly. However, it is let down lately by the horde of "Pickers" with their oversized trolleys jostling and jousting making it difficult for normal shoppers to get around. Its like supermarket bumper cars using BMW drivers. Then to add to the insult of difficult navigation of the store and that there are more Tesco employees then shoppers clogging up the aisles there are unbelievable queues at the checkouts normally manned at less than half capacity. Train some of the pickers and get them on the tills please Tesco. If you want a more pleasant experience as a normal shopper go in the evening.

Whenever I go here I can't move as there are hundreds of order pickers clogging the aisles to the extent that in-store customers cannot move. The latest farce was coming here wanting to buy some prawns. 11.30pm. the entire 20m section of fresh fish was TOTALLY empty. Not one single product. I mean WTAF !! Just came back from a month in Thailand and the contrast between Customer service here and there is astonishing. We are totally 3rd world in that respect. Just came here tonight 00:20 CLOSED despite 4ft high letter misleadingly stating OPEN 24 HOURS. FFS Tesco !!!

When I was under the weather Tesco Extra Abingdon was the only one to offer myself any help Sainsbury and Boots didn't want to know shame on them the store is very clean well stocked and the staff so friendly and helpful.

It’s a great place for real coffee. Sometimes you might need to tell the barista to make your coffee at Costa standards. Once I had to return my coffee. Overall, it’s a lovely place but the owner should continuously train the baristas.

Just visited the new restaurant/cafe. Looks great. We ordered bacon and brie ciabatas. Very disappointed. Virtually cold, brie was still a slice unmelted and the bacon had to be searched for. At £9 a go I will not be going back.
