Terrace Cafe in Plymouth

Amazing view on the ocean. We had breakfast. A little bit of wait but the food was ok. Service was basic.

I enjoyed the view and the hot chocolate with the mini marshmallows. The music really sets the mood

Tried booking a ticket for a gig there. paid via paypal etc. All looked ok my end. Venue said I hadnt paid and sold out. So they then removed my polite comment re this issue on facebook then blocked me. There are other cafes on the Hoe.

Had a great afternoon drinking with an a amazing view.

Ordered five drinks in two orders. They forgot one order. After waiting ~20 minutes, I went to the bar. Hostile encounter, had to prove payment. Abysmal service, made to feel awful despite spending a lot. Wouldn't return. Tables upstairs were dirty.

Ordered 4 drinks and some sandwiches and Nachos! On arrival the nachos had hard cheese on top almost cold! Then on asking where the guacamole was? I was told I’ll ask the chef to have them come back and say “oh there isn’t any” the key ingredient and not even told before ordering. Terrible service and very bland food. Would go for a drink and to take in view and that’s it next time!!!

Poor poor poor! Arrived for breakfast at 11am had to wait for menus- fortunately asked to order drinks immediately - these then took 15 minutes. Finally ordered breakfast and after waiting for half an hour politely enquired how long they thought it would be for our food to arrive ….To be told a further 25 😂 I was slightly shocked at this and enquired why we weren’t warned the food would take up to an hour? Staff unhelpful. we won’t be returning. Spent about £65 on five breakfasts and drinks and would much rather go somewhere we would actually enjoy! A real Shame-if the waitresses seemed interested in taking your order and being efficient could probably make a killing in tips and turn more tables Probably down to poor training Lovely view but would give it a miss!

Really liked this place! Stunning views and the food was miles better than the breakfast we were served, staying at the crown plaza just a short distance away. Friendly staff too, would definitely seek this place out when we are next in Plymouth.

Ventured into the cafe by chance and it did not disappoint! Lovely breakfast, perfect poached eggs, lovely friendly staff and the atmosphere is great. What more could you want - breakfast with a beautiful view, definitely makes a good start of the morning.

Big thank you to Mel and all the other lovely staff at the terrace, looked after us when we arrived late, no reservation, to watch the fireworks and have something to eat. BBQ was restarted to give us something to eat, washed down with the free drink that came with the ticket(s). Looked after by the wandering waitress who was lovely...sorry didn't get a name. Thanks again, when next we book for the fireworks it will be with you!

In our usual yearly trip to the Hoe we had to visit our favourite spot to have a coffee and a breakfast bap. Good views and chatty staff, nice atmosphere 😁

Booked a table at The Terrace for the Fireworks Championship. What an amazing evening, the staff had everything so well organised and were friendly and fun too. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made sure everybody had a great time. The ticket included a drink and a BBQ which were also good. Highly recommend this venue.

Overpriced , food average long wait time and staff not interested in the customer. Only good thing is the view

Stunning place to sit and have breakfast on a Sunday morning whilst looking out to sea. The breakfast was delicious, the small wild birds are very cute and friendly and will drop by to say hello. I’d have happily sat here to eat and drink all day.

Fantastic views over Plymouth sound. Staff were very good, although a bit stretched as rain all day was forecast so it was a skeleton crew. Both Erika and I had a cheese and chutney sandwich. Disappointed as they was not much cheese and very little chutney and no butter for £8-50, I expected better. They do dog sausages, but are not free at £1-50!!!! normally they are yesterdays sausages. Maisie our Jack Russel did enjoy it though.

Had my 30th birthday at The Terrace with friends and family. We was there all day and night and had the best time. All staff were so helpful, friendly and went above and beyond. Food was lovely, music was spot on and the view you have whilst sipping a beer was sublime. I will be coming back many more times, highly recommend to anyone who has not been.

Vastly overpriced I had a prawn sandwich, my bread was stale, received a replacement. Husband's was ok

So disappointing, had to wait 20 minutes for coffee and 45 minutes for a bap and then had to ask in case the order was forgotten. It was not busy with customers but clearly not enough staff. (the staff were polite and friendly) I will not be going there again for some time despite its wonderful position. My advice, is don't gamble with the time you allocate for parking.

Visited The Terrace whilst on holiday. What a gem of a find. The friendliest staff, delicious food (coffee was 👌) and the most idyllic views.

Have been to The Terrace many times and thoroughly enjoyed it. However this was VERY different. Ordered our lunch (for 5 people) and were told there was a 30min wait. 45mins later we asked our waitress if there was any sign of our food. She went to check and came back to verify what we had ordered. She then disappeared, to ensure our order, we thought. 1hr 20mins later we checked at the counter. They had no record of our order. They gave us our money back but no recompense for ruining our afternoon. We were due to go into town but it was too late by then. Would think twice about going there again.

Took 20 minutes wait before having to find a waitress...waitress that I had managed to let know we were ready to order told me she was clearing tables now not taking orders! Was told by the 1 waitress taking orders it was table service and she was working her way down the tables..not a very fair system as people arrived after us were being served before. When she eventually arrived at our table she told us, without hint of apology, it was 30 min wait for coffee, 40 min wait for food. Ridiculous. Needs more staff and staff with better or even some customer service skills!!! Highly recommend the promenade where we went instead and had most delicious food, served quickly and with lovely staff. Terrace take note!!!

Great location nice place to sit out next to the sea

Arrived, looking forward to a nice breakfast! No greeting, sat at table, waited over 15 mins no-one came to ask me what I wanted. It seemed as if there was only one waitress in attendance. Gave up waiting in the end, walked out, went to pier one next door, got served immediately fabulous breakfast.

Spoons do better food than this place Cutlery was dirty , my eggs were still raw , beans were cold toast was burnt , coffee was Mank coke wasn’t even proper.

We visited here for lunch with our children. Service was quick to take our orders and payment, however after 45mins of waiting for our food, we enquired on how much longer it would be, and received a hurried 'it'll be right out' response. A further 15mins and our order eventually arrived. The place was probably half full. The food itself was acceptable, however overpriced in my opinion (£11.50 for a jacket with chilli). Also even considering it is an outdoor venue, the tables could have been a lot cleaner / wiped over. A shame as the location has a lot of potential.

Went today for breakfast, 1 veggie, 1 meat, and they were absolutely delicious! Coffee was hot and tasty. Service was really friendly and professional. A must visit!! Jude

Staff were incredibly friendly, providing water and treats for the dog. On a nice day, the setting is perfect, and the food is amazing. £30 for two meals and two drinks, considering the quality of our meals especially, was amazing value.

Absolutely love The Terrace, the service of the staff is just the best, the manager just goes over and above she’s so lovely. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is perfect, winter or summer really do enjoy going there. Can’t tag that we’ve had breakfasts and lunches there as well as enjoying music and the fireworks too

Fab venue for our breakfast meeting, the food is amazing, the view just like something from a postcard, though seemly short staffed they all worked so hard given just how busy it was (but I'd take that as a good sign to still have a booming client base) they still managed to keep smiling despite the downright rudeness of another customer. Hope they won't take it to heart and see its more of a reflection on the customer then their team and venue. Special thanks to the manager for being so accommodating of our party with its allergies. Highly recommend, will be back again soon!! Thank you all x

We had a really disappointing experience here yesterday. It seems that the nice weather had caught the cafe off-guard as it was very busy, but service was so slow. We waited over 30 minutes to be served and when we asked one person if we could order we got a sarcastic ~along the lines of "Yeah I'm only collecting cups, you need to ask her, we're actually really busy". It's perfectly understandable to be busy, but the attitude and tone was poor. Eventually we like others just gave up and left. Such a shame because it's usually quite nice here and the food has been good in the past. There's usually not really any nicer place to drink a coffee and look out on the sound.

I had a great experience at the terrace, Sunday DJ, great food and the drinks. Everyone in the group had a fab time and the staff where fantastic. cant wait to return.

Visited this lovely cafe on one of the lasts sunny days of the year. Taking in the absolute stunning views of Plymouth sound. The service was top quality with really attentive and happy staff. Will definitely be back.

Great place, whilst I waited for the car to have its annual MOT took a walk to the terrace for breakfast, lovely place right by the sea, meal was great too, and very friendly staff also. Will be back in the near future.

We ordered an English breakfast (+ black pudding) and a vegan English breakfast. Got two hot drinks - one of the cups had a red lipstick smear on it. When we did finally get the food (took a bit more than you would expect) - the disk was cold. Also, for a surplus of £1.50 you only get a slice of black pudding. So until now we had discovered that: 1. The place had dirty plates/mugs 2. Overpriced- even compared to London 3. Food was cold and soggy So up until now, bad experience but not horrible - NOPE - an hour or so after both myself and my girlfriend felt ill - for the grand finale………..food poisoning!!!

£15 plus for nachos and some beef chilli and it showed up with about a table spoon of chilli on, had to ask the waiter for chilli. Basically a bowl of Nacho chips with a little bit of cheese and salsa. Had to constantly get up and look for a waiter to place an order. Very disappointed wont be rushing back

I visited for breakfast today with my husband for our anniversary and a lovely girl Sophia gave amazing service, such a shame her manager was barking across the restaurant, we were sat at the very end but could hear her screaming! The food was lovely...

Me and my friend visited this place on a nice afternoon. As they were preparing for a private event everything was all over the place, you couldn’t sit where you wanted and had to leave at the specific time (might aswell they should have closed)...

As a regular visitor to The Terrace today's experience fell well below anticipated standards, not only for my 7 guests and me but also for customers at neighbouring tables on the upper terrace. The waiting staff were as charming and attempting to be as accommodating...

After a fabulous time in Plymouth my train home was scheduled for Mid day and I was looking for someplace to have breakfast and I wanted to pick somewhere overlooking the sea. So I picked the Terrace. My choice for breakfast was the Terrace English breakfast. It was very tasty the egg and small pieces bacon was cooked nicely. The Sausage was juicy and it was great to be given a decent sized portion of baked beans. The view overlooking the sea is incredible and as it was a sunny day it couldn't of gotton any better. The staff are well mannered , friendly to talk to and the wait time wasn't that long either. Overall I had a really good experience and I am so glad I picked this fabulous location known as the Terrace.

Great spot for a drink with a view!

First time I visited here happened to be during the Sail GP event. The service was very good and the pizza I had from here was incredible. Good choice of drinks and food. Lots of little birds that are keen to beg for some of your food but that adds to the coastal feeling of this place. Will be visiting again!

I came here this evening for the first night of the British Fireworks Championships. All of the staff were on it, was welcomed at the top of the terrace and got given my wrist band and drink token. Well worth the entry fee, spectacular view...

20 minutes to get a take away drink, absolutely ridiculous!! . Staff standing around doing nothing or looking at orders on the bar whilst people are waiting. Never again

Horrible customer service, water was really rude and didn’t want to serve us. We came for holidays and I never had such a bad experience.

Waitress fussing around other customers quick enough to take drinks order but forgot to come back for food order. I watched my food order on the hot plate sat for 10 mins. When I asked if that was our order the chef said to wait for the last dish to be completed. Brilliant so the rest of the dishes go cold. Overpriced will not be returning nor would I recommend to anyone local or anyone on holiday.

Below average. Quite expensive for what it is. We had toasties but they were hardly toasted .. just warm. Iced coffee was disgusting too. Nice view though and some of the staff were friendly.

If you are a person of colour, I would not recommend going here. After witnessing a friend of mine being searched by security, overseen by the manager, I was disgusted to learn that the owner herself was explicitly racist. She asked my friend where 'the other one was', my friend informed her that the person he came with (a white man) was sitting over there, she informed him that 'no, I meant the other one', by which she meant the other person of colour in the group. Absolute abhorrent behaviour

Servers could do with some training. Rather rude in general and leaned up against me to get something from the table. Get ya mitts off me! Good view and beer though 👍

Lovely views across the Sound. Perfect place for a drink outdoors with friends and family

Had a lovely breakfast yesterday morning. My little dog sat on the chair next to me. A member of staff with the biggest smile greeted me. She even got water for my dog. The breakfast was yummy. The only felt I could find was the concrete paving could do with a power wash.

We enjoyed a tasty hot breakfast, good fresh tasting produce, not greasy, good portion size and cooked to perfection. It was very busy but we were looked after with staff being very friendly and accommodating especially working in the heat... (as we sipped on our refreshing ice lattes 🫣😋) We had a lovely table with a stunning view....how lucky we are to live in Plymouth! Thank you guys we will look forward to coming back!

We come here most sunday mornings for a peaceful coffee, The staff are always friendly & the coffee is great with a lovely view too! They had some issues with the card machine today and the lady in charge very kindly let us have our drinks for less as we didn't have enough cash which was really nice of her. Recently enjoyed excellent crab sandwich & a prawn sandwich. They were superb and the service from the young waitress made the whole late lunch experience really great.

Today we went to the Terrace for breakfast and have a meeting. It was my first time at the Terrace, I've walked past it for years living in Plymouth but never stopped. Breakfast was fantastic and the views over the sound are beautiful.
