Great filter coffee....you cannot get filter coffee anywhere anymore and I would visit here just for the coffee!...lovely friendly staff too 😀

This is a pleasant spot to sit and chew the cud. But there is only filter coffee available - no latte/cappuccino, since they say they haven't sufficient power to the hut!! What an excuse. In the past they served really nice bacon butties- but no more. And sometimes the milk curdles! Poor, poor show from the National Trust (assuming they are the owners)

Pretty spot but full of dogs. The coffee was filter coffee (or instant for decaf) and they were all disappointing and quite overpriced. The milk was slightly curdled, too.

Lovely little cafe in nice location by the pond. Shame about the hot dogs we had, very disappointing, no onions served in baguette and the sausage was so dry and crusty it was like it had been cooked the day befor and kept warm. Expensive too at £17.60 for tea, hot choc and 2 hot dogs.

Having lived in the area all my life I have always visited the big pond over the hill but today we decided to take some photos round the little pond and see what it's like Parking Parking was ok but not sure what we are paying for? No clear parking places no security and all parking machine cashless, as you are between two hills surround by thick trees I had zero signal. So well thought out ( slow clap) It was close to the end of the day but we thought grab a drink from the cafe and sit and watch the sunset Cafe area was very poorly set out benches all over the place and very few on a level plane so sitting was problematic at best I spotted for the older person, sooo much scope to add decking area to show the pond but I had to make do with rats running about instead Cafe was super!! Expensive £6 for a hotdog that was nothing more then a "medium" sausage in a dry roll to add that was cold like it came out the fridge NOT worth £6 more like £2.50. I did ask if it could be cut in half as it was the only one left so my wife could had a snack with me, I was told by staff " we will not be cutting it as we don't want any argument who has the bigger half" I laughed and said well I will give the bigger half to my other half, then I realised she was serious... I mean it's half seriously how hard can that be and do you need a ruler to find that out 🙄 Luxury hot choc was over priced and could not use different milk as its in choc powder already so we were told. Not sure how choc powder and hot water was spray cream and 6 tiny marshmallow came to that price and to make matters worse the lazy staff did not ever stir it so just had a clod of dry power ot the bottom of my cup quite poor at best given the price 100% will not being going back next time I will bring a coffee and snack from home 👍

A well hidden cafe in the Frensham woods, by the Little Pond. Despite it being a hot summers day, it was very quiet. Food of coffee and a pasty was good, but not exceptional. Downside was the awful pay and display machines in the car park. OK as a National Trust member who gets it free, but appalling for those trying to pay, particularly when using a phone to pay with minimal signal.

We love this place. It's great to be able to have a cup of tea and something to eat after a walk with grandchildren, or before! We arrived with a grumpy grandson who perked up considerably after a bacon bap.

It's great in this covid time to be able to sit outside, socially distanced. The filter coffee is good, and the bacon sandwiches were excellent. BUT.. there is no latte here, and they had run out of baps! As it used to say on school reports: "could do better"

Nice bacon butty and a coffee and tea...I do prefer a cappuccino but they don’t do speciality coffees! Staff ok although not overly friendly, quite expensive, we usually walk over to the cafe at the big pond, Philip who runs it is a friendly character and they do the best cappuccino! Although I would return to the term cafe again!

Avoid this cafe - use the Great Pond facilities instead. Had to stand in queue for well over 30 minutes just to order lunch (at 12:30 on Sunday). Organisation was appalling, nothing was prepared, sausages and bacon were still being cooked despite the 30 minute waiting to order. no soup despite advertising such. when it was my turn, I asked for what was already made up - the only answer was a ham sandwich (£3.85), which I accepted - and then the server went off to make it - but it wasn't my order he was making - it was the previous order anyway! This cafe requires better management.

We stop here on a regular basis, being fond walkers of the area. The coffee is nice and there is always a good selection of food choices. The tray bakes are particularly good. On the weekends they have youngsters staffing the cafe, and quite often they close up early, like today when we stopped of at 16.00hrs looking forward to a restorative cuppa, very disappointed again to find everyone had gone home..... it had been raining earlier in the day but by 14.00 hrs it was dry! No way to run a business in my humble opinion.

We think well worth a pop in for drink and or snacks. I do think Nat Trust are a tad overpriced but had pleasant and quick service and loved that we could sit outside in sun...in February!...watching the bird wildlife react to spring. The walk round the lake afterwards was fun, with half term families greeting us as we passed - a lovely afternoon.

Visit here every weekend for the beautiful walks. The national trust cafe is a nice addition to frensham ponds. However everything they sell is extremely expensive and sadly completely unjustified. The quality of food is just very average and doesnt warrant the prices they charge.

The woman who runs this is so rude and lacking in customer care. I would seriously not waste your money at this establishment.

My heart sank when I heard they were going to open a cafe at Frensham Little Pond as I thought it would just be another assault on the wallet and on a local beauty spot. However I make an exception for the Tern - a lovely place to bird watch, good cakes and friendly efficient service - it's actually added to the attraction of the area, not taken away from it. Now it's a place I love to go for a quiet cuppa and beautiful views.

The setting for this cafe is wonderful on its own, add in Tern cafe's offerings and you have yourself a fabulous place to stop after a walk at the lovely Frensham Little Pond. Rebecca's Goulash Soup is devine and the cakes she has on offer are absolutely yummy! It's become a regular visit for my Mum and I who can happily take the scrabble board and while away a couple of hours. Friendly, helpful service with a great selection on the menu. I recommend popping in as a little post/mid walk treat.

I planned a visit to the Tern Cafe during a guided walk that I was leading today (Friday) - always good to have a coffee stop somewhere along the way. I checked the internet for opening times and the NT were showing 10 - 3 Sunday to Saturday, Trip advisor (this page) shows 9 - 5. I found an email address and sent an enquiry but nobody bothered to answer. As it is now Winter I thought I'd play safe and assume 10 - 3. We arrived after 6 miles of walking to find the cafe shut. Fortunately 2 ladies (both Rebecca) were there and were happy to open for us. They were only there because they'd arranged to feed and water a bunch of 'Children in Need' walkers who were yet to arrive. Otherwise it would most definitely have been shut. Apparently it's only open at the weekend this time of year. PLEASE update the websites as it's most disappointing (and embarrassing for me as a guide) to turn up and find the coffee stop shut. I've only given this 5 stars because the Rebeccas were only too happy to cook (very nice) bacon butties for us and supply us with hot drinks.

Amazing little cafe selling lovely homemade produce. Have visited as couple and with family (always with dog!), and great everytime. Lots of thought put in, down to the box of binoculars and toys for children to use. Staff on weekdays very friendly. Young staff on weekend visits less so and sadly seemed completely disinterested. At the end of a long walk around Frensham ponds area we discovered by chance that the old Warden's cottage at the end of the Little Pond has been turned into a NT café. It offered very friendly and helpful staff and a short but perfect menu for a cold day. Fabulous home made soups for vegetarian and meat eaters and home made appropriate pasties to accompany the soup. Great home made cakes. A lovely little spot and we will be going back. There were tables outside and, a great plus at any time of year in this country, an open barn with hay bale seating to get out of the wind and cold (there is no seating inside the café). For this month the Cafe is only open on Saturdays and Sundays but fingers crossed for longer opening as the spring advances. Dogs are welcome.

We take our dogs for a walk round Little Pond quite regularly, but haven't visited this little café until the weekend before Christmas. This was a spontaneous pit stop, and we're so glad we did! There are benches to sit on, and if it's raining or over crowded there's a little shelter with hay stacks to sit on instead. It was quite busy when we got there but we managed to get a bench! Dogs had the freedom to roam around but ours were too excited to leave off the lead, however, the cafe offered dog treats which ours appreciated :)Anyway, let's get on to the most important things... Service and food! In short, both were fantastic. We think it was a mother and daughter team working in the cafe, and both were very helpful and smiley, which was lovely. As it was the weekend before Christmas, they were doing special bacon and brie or sausage and stuffing baps. We decided to go for two bacon and brie baps, mince pies for him, a caramel shortbread slice for her and a tea and coffee. The total came to about £15, which was a bit overpriced but definitely worth it in the end. When the baps were ready (didn't take long at all) they were oozing with brie and the bacon was cooked amazingly. We would have happily gone in for second helpings!Definitely worth another visit, and hopefully won't be long until we pop in again for the delicious food and wonderful service :)

Fabulous pub, great service and so welcoming to a large group (16 adults). We prebooked a few weeks in advance (with no deposit despite previous comments) as we knew other pubs would struggle to accommodate us. When we arrived, the staff couldn't have done any more for us; we were welcomed warmly, served promptly and had utterly delicious food. We will definitely return, and it was a truly wonderful place to idle away a Sunday afternoon in such a comfortable, beautiful venue. Thanks to all the staff, very much appreciated!

5 out of 5! First visit, lively and friendly. Fantastic, tasty, hot fresh food. Starters, calamari, and chicken wings were delicious. Mains, kofte kebab, and pork kebab are also excellent. Buffalo fries were stunning. The two veggies with us had superfood salad and a sweet potato dish, which I was assured were really good!!! Good choice of beer and wine and delightful staff!! Cost us about £72 per couple, including drinks and gratuity, which I considered very acceptable for the evening we had! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We will definitely be going back! 👍🏽

Lovely woodland setting with very pleasant outside seating. But the cafe facilities were rather poor. Two "hot" sausage rolls were taken from a cold display case and were barely warm. a "cream tea" came in an assortment of pre-packaged plastic containers. This plus a couple of coffees came to over £20. Along with a disappointment with the arboretum itself, this did not make for a good day. We are not quite sure why the NT is even managing Winkworth, let alone currently expensively now expanding its facilities.
