Amazing Staff who make you feel welcomed, combined with mouthwatering addictive food.

We had a ramen and a katsu chicken curry with a beer and a Japanese soft drink. Service was friendly and courteous, food was delicious and portions very filling. Will be popping in again for sure.

Lovely warm welcome as we came in. Drinks served quickly then time given for us to peruse the menu. Delicious fresh food, well presented which we enjoyed in an unhurried atmosphere.

Excellent sushi selection. Very fresh and tasty and really good portions. Service very friendly. Will come back for sure.

So sad to say that this previously incredible restaurant has gone downhill in a bad way. Service is terrible, food is not as good. Such a shame.

My girlfriend is a big fan of sushi so I took her here. She said it was the best sushi she has ever had. I had the katsu curry and that was also the best I have had. Service was also great

Popped in for a takeaway order as online options for restaurant was poor. I regret doing so. Was incredibly disappointing. Opted for the Bento box. £19 for a small portion of rice, piece of katsu chicken, 2 small gyozas, 3 small kani maki (which was imitation crab and I couldn't see it on the menu outside of the Bento. Was disappointed but understanding I couldn't change the type of maki) very basic salad and a miso soup. Lot of stuff you normally get included with meals for free. No sauce or dressing for anything so was all quite dry. And plain for the most part. Did come with ginger and wasabi which was fresh and nice to be fair. All in all though terrible value for money. Good quality was fine but just wasnt good enough (or portioned enough) to justify the cost. Hope the sushi is better because the Bento box certainly wasn't worth it

We visited as a family. 3 children aged 11-15. We eat at Wagamamas but fancies a change. This place was awesome. The sushi was fantastic. We really loved the maki rolls and hosomaki. The kids slurped through the ramen and we had really nice yaki. I would thoroughly recommend it - we will be back. Only thing that let it down was the white wine wasn’t very chilled. Maybe we should have stuck to beer?

Genuinely the worst dining experience of my life. Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy, food was awful and the service even worse.

We were looking for a place to eat in Cardiff, and we’ll definitely come back. The sushi were excellent and fresh. The spicy beef ramen was delicious. The service was great and quick enough, even though the chef had to deal with my boyfriend’s allergies and said it would take longer. And the staff were very kind.

Had heard great things, but was very disappointed to be honest. Food was not bad but not great, atmosphere was akward and service was too..Would not recommend I am afraid

We haven’t been for years as it really went downhill on the service front back then. We’ve returned to see if much has changed and not only is the service just as bad but the food now also. Worst Japanese food in cardiff by a long shot. Very poorly made sushi (falling apart and rice not fresh or perhaps cheap?) rubbery ingredients and terrible ramen.

food was nice , service was a little poor, as we was asked what we wanted before we was given any menus, food took a while it wasnt that busy. very dull atmosphere you all sit pretty much at ok long table with the odd few tables at the side . not a romantic restaurant , ok for lunch with friends I suppose

This restaurant is by a very long distance the best Japanese restaurant on the whole of Cardiff if not Wales. I live a half hour away so i don't frequent it as often as I would like but for me it's more than worth the trip every once in a while. The char siau chahan and spider maki is to die for. Hats off to a consistently excellent establishment

Nice food, but expensive for what it is. Poor ambience, slow service, and difficult to get the waiters attention, despite it being very quiet. At those prices you'd expect better.

Had Ramen and I definitely have had much better Ramen. Edit: Went here again to check how they were doing and it only got worse and nothing better.

Well presented and very clean this wonderful sushi bar is a hidden gem on city road. Service is swift and friendly with staff happy to answer questions if you're not very familiar with sushi. Warm sake is delightful along side the tasty and varied food. I usually take a bento box for easy variety with a few extra sushi but have also tried various rice bowls which are so well filled I've never quite finished one! Highly recommended

This is such a cute little sushi bar perfect for celebrating a birthday with my teenager who requested going out for sushi! I opted for the prawn and mango sushi it was very fresh and delicious 😋 we will definitely be going again!

Ramen tasted and looked horrendous. I don't know how can you serve something like this. They didn't even bother to roll sushi properly so it was falling apart. Rice was overcooked. No check back from any of the staff. £55 pounds for 2 inedible soups and really bad sushi. Sadly a waste of money and our evening.

Delicious gluten free Japanese food! They had menus with everything GF marked making it super easy to order, and all was fresh and delicious. They even have GF soy sauce! Will be back, although reservations needed.

I have walked past this place so many times and always gone to the chains in the centre of Cardiff. I took my Mum here yesterday and I will not be going back to the ones in town. The food is incredible!

The food was average at best, no real ambience of the restaurant. We booked the table online after seeing gorgeous food, arrived on time we was quickly ushered to our table and given a menu by a very polite young lady. We was offered a drink quickly and then asked was we ready to order, we politely asked for 5minutes to browse the rather large menu. I should add the chefs were quite rude to the young waitress and shouted at her infront of us, we ordered kimchee and he told her he didnt have it, she didnt quite hear him and he shouted at her, not the sort of thing you should be doing with diners there. We changed the kimchee for squid, they didnt have the deep fried squid but could do salt and pepper squid instead which was fine. The food arrived and it was very averge didnt realy taste of much garlic, ginger essential japanese seasoning, the whole order come to £65 everything was very rushed, the restaurant was freezing cold, the chefs were not authentic japanese and we would not be returning.

Went here to try the ramen 🍜 and although service was good and the place was clean and looked nice the flavour of the noodles were far below par, I had the Char Siu (Roast Pork) and my partner had the Vegan option. While there was plenty of Pork and garnish was nice there was an overwhelming amount of seaweed in both dishes so avoid if you don't like the flavour of seaweed. The broth in the roast pork was horrible think one part soy sauce to two parts hot water, that was the flavour. It wasn't enjoyable at all and felt like drinking / eating a bowl of soy sauce, egg noddle were not the right type for this broth and while I normally don't like leaving food, I couldn't finish it for the flavour. My partner had the Vegan ramen and that was worse, the vermicelli noodles again were sub par and the broth was like a weak vegetable water. It definitely needed a stock to add to the flavour. Overall I judge a place by the food and if you asked me if I'd come here again I'd say maybe but I definitely wouldn't bother with the ramen section of the menu.

Best sushi restaurant in Cardiff! Have been coming here for years and we have tried others in the area, city centre and the bay but nothing compares to this restaurant! It will always be our go to sushi restaurant in Cardiff! Highly recommend

This place never fails to impress. Every time me and misses are in Cardiff we visit this place almost every day before we go back to London. It is the best sushi place in Cardiff if not the whole of UK. They are so consistent with their food. Customer service is always excellent.

Thought the food was expensive, disappointing Katsu which was totally different to any Katsu I’ve had before, felt like out of a bottle. Wouldn’t go back in a hurry/ feel Yo Sushi is better

Great service and really, really nice food

Sadly, I had a very disappointing meal here recently. I’d been looking forward to trying the sushi based on the good reviews I’ve seen, but it did not live up to my expectations. The fish tasted bland as opposed to fresh, the ingredients used seemed cheap, and the nigiri fell apart immediately when picked up. Had some side dishes which were undercooked and, again, bland - there seemed to be little flavour in anything used. Perhaps a better place for noodles or other dishes, but I’d avoid the sushi.

Amazing food, fresh fish, nice chicken and beef meals too. You can order all the traditionals meals and for sushi it's really good quality. Just make sure to ore book if you go as couple and want a table just for only 2 people! Or if you like sit with other people that's fine. Really fast service and customer service it's really nice too. Really worth it and price is affordable for everyone!

The worst Japanese food I've had anywhere. Sushi was terrible only had a few pieces and gave up on it. Turned to noodles, got about quarter way through before stopping. Left the place with a full plate and an empty stomach. It wasn't cheap either. Maybe I just hit a bad day but I won't be going back again that's for sure

Really enjoyed my meal here. Sushi in England is usually overpriced for the quality you get. Got vegetable gyoza, chilli edamame, avocado and cucumber California roll and a vegetarian (turned vegan) maki platter. All really exceeded expectations and (a sushi bar first) left not feeling ripped off! Would come back.

I’ve visited here so many times and have never been disappointed. The most delicious katsu around and the staff are always so lovely. You can always guarantee you’ll have a tasty meal when you book in here ☺️

Place was clean, service was good, and food came out quickly. Very average bowl of ramen. Broth wasn't 'omg amazing' level. Was more of a 'meh'. The ramen itself was ok. They give you a LOT of char sui, too much char sui to ramen and broth ratio imo. The char sui isn't great either, pretty bland and verrry fatty, the meaty parts were a bit tough as well and not tender. No marinated egg either. The ramen itself gets a 2/5. The sushi wasn't anything to write home about, not much better than grocery store sushi. Also, I understand the vibe they're going for of a Japanese izakaya, where different groups of people sit at the same tables, but the pandemic isn't over. We literally sat next to strangers at the same table less than 2 feet away from us. I know restaurants do have bad nights in terms of food quality, maybe this was just one of them.

Went for a meal with my partner and ordered the Spicy Beef Ramen, Nigiri platter and Mixed sashimi. The only issue I had was I wished I could eat more. The food is lovely and I will definitely be going back :)

Me and my better half had dinner here on the other day and it service was exhalent and our meal was perfect, can't wait to visit again.

Food was so fresh and service was quick! Absolutely love visiting Tenkaichi, it’s the best sushi bar in Cardiff! If you love sushi they have a huge variety and they’re happy to cater to additional requests where possible. All orders made fresh to order. The Sashimi is especially delicious!

Dear Mr Tenkaichi and Lloyd, Our meal tonight was incredible. My girlfriend and I were blown away by the tastes and quality of the food. The staff were super nice and attentive, and the service was top class. I was especially amazed with the chicken gyoza, which immediately took me back to my time in Osaka, and even unlocked some memories. The Tenkaichi Maki was truly incredible too. My girlfriend and I had never tasted anything quite like it. We will be back again when we are a little richer! My warmest regards, P.H.

This is the best ramen I've had in my life! I've been traveling around the country and Europe ,for work,and never have I found anything, as close to that taste! Knowing that my partner surprised me with a trip to Cardiff, just so i can have that experience again. I think he got annoyed by me saying every place we go " it's not as good". Makes me sad I can't visit on regular basis, but i have to say: Thank you, for the best ramen 🍜 in my life! P.S. I wish I knew how to make it myself lol

Go there to enjoy good company and outstanding food, not in a rush, tbh. Service is great, the appearance does not really go with the high level food they offer. Best quality rolls, great size and perfect cut sashimi, everything is delicious, the battered octopus (hot!! Wait to eat it) and the squid tempura are a must!! Sushi in general is our favourite, but the bentos and other things we've tried are really good too. Everything is fresh and made to perfection. In pics: Philadelphia maki, with salmon and extra caviar (roll with avocado and soft cheese) Mixed sashimi (salón and tuna) Takoyaki Osaka (octopus battered balls) Kara age ika (squid tempura) Ebi tempura (prawn and aubergine tempura) Spider maki (eel tempura roll) All recommended!! Brought takeaway to a friend that simply loved it too! We'll keep going again and again

As a student of Japanese, immersing myself in Japanese culture is very important, and that includes through food. The food at Tenkaichi was just like the food I had in Osaka, the food capital of Japan. The noodles were soft but bouncy, the takoyaki were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the chicken katsu was very tender. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Tenkaichi is the best place for sushi/Japanese food in Cardiff. There are some other killer restaurants, but I always find myself back at Tenkaichi. I've been visiting once every couple months for the last 3 years (minus lockdown), and I absolutely love it. I usually get the sushi here which is very tasty and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend their maki with beef (I can't remember the technical name), california maki, panko prawn maki, tuna maki; but everything I've had so far has failed to disappoint. I've also tried the katsu ramen here and although the katsu chicken becomes soggy (as you would expect when added to a ramen), it is very tasty. The shoyu broth is moreish and the serving sizes are well worth the money. All in all, I can't recommend Tenkaichi enough! I went here for one of my last meals pre-Covid; it was one of the first places I went after Covid rules relaxed; I've had a birthday meal here, and I've taken friends here when they visit Cardiff. It is excellent!

I love Japanese food with a passion, however this place was disgusting, we ordered the katsu curry, which was absolutely vile, the sauce lack flavor and has an bitterness, it seem like they use the tiniest bit of curry paste, there was no creamy aroma of a katsu curry. The next dish was the spicy tuna roll, it was absolutely disgusting! They clearly add a few drop of siracha in the roll, which had the bare minimum of tuna, literally a tiny cube, when preparing a spicy tuna roll, the sauce is consist of siracha with mayonnaise and chili flake to get it a creamy taste, this wasn't the case. Honestly I can go on about this restaurant, but the main issue was the rice, it clearly contains too much starch, which indicates that then either didn't wash the rice or not throughly. Also you can tell every was bought in e.g. the miso soup contains the smallest amount of miso paste, the gyoza was frozen. Never again!

This restaurant has prioritised catch phrases and trends, over practicality, and service. The establishment resembles a workers cafeteria, except it takes 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Menu is cut down, and you'll struggle to find the diversity of options that is anticipated from a common sushi restaurant.

Solid if not remarkable Japanese food. Service is middling but fine. Generous portions of ramen and donburi though.

10 years ago this place was heroic. Quality food, decent price, authentic through and through. Now, with new management, the recipes are sub par, the portion sizes are smaller than what they used to be, prices are absolutely ridiculous for what you get and it no longer feels Japanese. More like a student canteen.

If you like your food to be next to none, and always on the amazing side, then here is the place for you. I always go for the chicken and rice, because I'm that boring guy in the back, but all my friends go through the menu and never been disappointed. Nice to have a restaurant like this only up the road.
