Eclectic decor, gorgeous food. Small cafe with charm!

A confusing but satisfying place to eat, Tel's cafe is decorated with a cinematic feel dedicated to 50's icons and Italian gangsters of the silver screen, but the food is mix of comfort foods like shepherds pie, lasagne and all day breakfasts. I had a bacon and cheese omelette which skimped on nothing including taste.

Hotel is located in a good location on the High Street in easy reach of Tonbridge station which is just 10 minutes walk away. Ideal if you are planning to go into London by train. The room we stayed in was in an outer building, accross and overlooking the hotel's private carpark, so nice and quiet as not directly above the noisy main road - which is quite busy during the daytime. Staff was pleasant, always smiling and helpful. Easy checking in and out, and luggage deposit available after check out. The hotel is an historical building: main building is old but charming, rooms however need a bit of updating. I would recommend modernising the basin taps and improving the lighting in the bathroom. The bedroom decór was a bit worn out, but all in all it had all the essentials for a quick stay. Towels and bedding were clean, wifi worked very well, nice black-out curtains, pleanty of space and hangers in the wardrobe. Room felt a bit cold, even when turning the heater on maximum, but the duvet kept us warm. Breakfast was included in our booking. There was a buffet available until 9 am (10 am on weekends) with teas, coffee, juices and an assortment of cereals, bread for toasting, jam, butter, fruit, croissants and muffins. One could also order a hot english breakfast from the menu, eggs were nice, but there is definitely room for improvement and finesse when cooking the mushroom and tomato. I would also suggest changing the thermal flasks to ensure the water for tea stays nice and hot. My total vote is good (3/5 stars).

Absolutely shocking. Desserts look like they are from Brake Bros. My children can present food better.

Food was all burnt, so myself and my partner couldn’t manage to eat much of the food at all. Ordered a garlic butter dip and staff member walked away and said to the kitchen “she wants a garlic butter, who has garlic butter with margarita pizza”. Very unprofessional but very unsurprising considering all staff on the shop floor were very young and were all huddled together giggling and gossiping. Felt like I was eating in a secondary school canteen, with the same quality food as well. Tap water was great, no complaints

Sunday lunch disappointing. £19-£21 is towards the higher end of Sunday lunch prices & for that you'd be expecting near perfection. This target was comfortably missed with a plate that contained rock hard roast potatoes matched by a rock hard Yorkshire pudding. I'm assuming that the smear of gravy provided was to entice a request for some more, which would cost an additional £2

Poor. One of worse pubs I've visited in a while. London Pride was nearest they got to an Ipa, and it was absolutely awful, like it was off. Won't go back.
