Stopped here for lunch with my Dad who has onset Dementia and struggles at times in unfamiliar places ,I cannot Thank the staff enough for being so understanding and caring they certainly made my lunch experience very enjoyable. The Homemade Mushroom Soup was super and my Dad ate all his sandwich which was highly unusual as half normally goes in a Napkin and taken home for later as he states “I don’t eat much anymore “ 😂 , Then he wanted some of the Home baking and obviously some to take home for later. Looking forward to our next trip to Lanark. Keep up the great work .

This is a brilliant wee cafe in the centre of Lanark. Bright and spotlessly clean. Staff are so helpful and friendly. Coffee as we waited for breakfast was excellent, and the cooked breakfasts were just great! Hot meals, and well cooked. This is a place you must not miss … it’s a gem of a place, with lovely staff.

My mothers side of the family are from Lanark, and was visiting the town for the first time in ages. Was in need of something to eat, but mainly for on the go, so popped in to Tea Time to grab a morning roll and coffee to take away. Great little cafe just at the bottom end of Lanark main street, and sure of a warm welcome from the great staff as soon as you enter. Ordered a breakfast roll to go and was freshly prepared in no time and was VERY tasty. If in Lanark again, will be sure to visit again.

Visited today with family for the first time but we had a poor experience. We were seated for 30 mins before someone came & took our order. Once our order was took, we waited another 30 mins for our food, it was a little busy but not over run busy. I asked the staff about our order & they didn’t know what I was on about, only later for them to apologise as they “didn’t have our order in” Once we received our order, we needed cutlery which they “Forgot about too” our food was cold & cutlery was dirty. It was a very hectic experience & Un relaxed. The waiter appeared untrained & the staff in the kitchen seemed to be running around like headless chickens… overall, we had a poor experience which was disappointing.

Stopped in on the way back from Livingston and had a light lunch. This was our 2nd visit and that tells it's own story. Staff are great. The food is tasty, fresh and a wee bit on the unusual side. I had a plate of home made soup and a sandwich. My wife also had soup and some pate. And very nice it all was. A good measure of an establishments quality, in my opinion, is the cleanliness of the toilet facilities. This gets a 5 star rating on that score! We couldn't resist the scones either but as we were choc full after our lunch these were taken home. With the staff kindly providing butter and jam. Pop in if you're passing. You won't be disappointed!

Husband and I called in for a snack lunch. We loved that the food was a little out of the ordinary, and it was delicious and very reasonably priced. I had a fantastic Brie and grape panini with juicy salad, my husband had coronation chicken soup and then treated himself to their delicious key lime and chocolate cake. We received a friendly welcome, and our already clean table was given a thorough antibacterial spray and wipe before we settled. We felt relaxed and looked after. We will definitely be giving this place another visit.

Came in here for a lunch break while on the Lanark Heritage Trail. The name of the cafe is apt as it's set up like a traditional tearoom. A bit old school, but pleasant, bright and airy. All the new health guidelines were being observed with hand sanitiser, table space and face masks etc.I ordered a home made vegetable soup and also a (I think) marshmallow cheesecake. First off the soup was pretty poor. Really watery and salty. The former I didn't mind so much because it had generous amount of vegetables. I also asked for a glass of water, but still couldn't finish the soup. The cheesecake was delicious though. In fairness, when it came to the bill, the staff took money off the final bill, so kudos for that. I came here because of all the amazing reviews, but I was disappointed overall. I can't fault the service or customer focus and that's a credit to the staff.

Arrived just after 3pm to find cafe still reasonably busy but found a table. Menus were already on the table but the 'Specials Board' was quite difficult to read from a distance. Service was quick and we were served exactly how we had requested. Many restaurants/cafes serve drinks straight away and this sometimes means they are finished or cold by the time the food is finished. Chicken Noodle Soup was excellent although it could have been served a bit warmer. Toasties were also very good. Staff were friendly and efficient and I have no hesitation in recommending this cafe.

Recently visited tea time as heard it was under new ownership. From the moment I set foot in the establishment the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. Despite it being a busy lunch service they found us a lovely table and the service was brilliant. I had a toastie and my other half had the stack, we also had coffees. The coffees were the best I had in a while and we were both raving about the lunch we had for days after. The Food was faultless, as were the staff. We couldn’t resist the cake stand that displayed the lovely cakes as you enter the door, once finding out they were all freshly baked by staff we had to take some home - they also, unsurprisingly did not disappoint. I Would 100% visit Tea Time again.

Have visited several times before and really enjoyed the food, service can be a bit hit or miss. Reason for poor score this time was the terrible food hygiene we witnessed. Most significant of which was the woman preparing the food. Not the usual woman. This woman firstly had very long nail and hair extensions neither of which were covered during food preparation. Worst of all after she put our cake on our plate she licked the cream off her fingers. After even had to check with my wife that I wasn’t mistaken in seeing this. She continued thereafter to prepare food. Yuck!!!!

This was not our first choice for lunch as outside looked bit tired but the Italian place down the side street only had lentil soup which for a Scots lass not liking, made us go back to this little place. Bit cramped inside but got a seat, staff friendly and service was good. Liked the fact they had 3 choices of soup, tasty tomato and chorizo, and took the option of a Cup of soup (that really was a small bowl) with pate, salad and option of toast or oatcakes. Really nice pate and also came with coleslaw. Quite filling and felt good value for £7. Only had one cake between us as so full, the homemade Gypsy Cream which was good. Not a great selection of homemade cakes but enough to choose one. Yes would recommend it and would come back, though did not take cards, only cash which could be a problem if you were not aware of? Toilet not great, but ok to be able to do what you need to do.

My mum and I wandered in late on a Saturday afternoon and were welcomed nicely. Upon seeing us deliberating over the soups on offer we were offered a teacup of each to try before we made our decision - brilliant! Upon sampling the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding soup, sweet potato, chili and coconut soup and celery, apple and walnut soup (all very nice!) we still struggled to decide. But there was an option to help! My mum decided to have two small bowls of two of the soups with a lovely side salad and oat cakes with different toppings. I opted for the toastie of the day (black pudding, brie and sweet chili) which also came with a nice side salad. Everything tasted delicious!! Another customer who sat next to us took one look at our lunch and immediately said "I'll have what she's having" which I always think is a good sign!

When in Lanark taske time to seek out this hidden gem.. Tea Time is a fantastic little coffee house / cafe on the corner of Castlegate and just behind the Wallace statue. Tea Time boasts a comprehensive lunch and snack menu wonderfully prepared from locally sourced ingredients, and a beautiful array of very indulgent home baking. On this occasion I opted for a wonderful breakfast of Eggs Ecosse consisting of delightfully light and fluffy scrambled egg with Orkney cheddar cheese this was topped off with wonderful bacon and rested on that obligatory staple of any good Scottish breakfast....tattie scones. This along with a rich tasting cafe latte made for a wonderful breakfast that would easily sustain you until dinner time. The staff at Tea Time are incredibly friendly and attentive and only serve to enhance the experience. The cafe itself is immaculate and tastefully decorated and whilst modern maintains an old world charm. And a few Scottish design touches complete the ambiance.I am happy to recommend Tea Time as somewhere you will receive a warm welcome and excellent refreshments.

On a damp, soon to turn very wet, morning in Lanark, we decided that this seemed the best of the available coffee shops for some respite from the drizzle. We got a warm welcome and some pleasant coffee, plus (as there were no cakes suitable for my wife's dairy-free diet) a very attractive platter of fresh fruit and meringues. As others have said, the exterior is not particularly special, but the helpful attitude of the staff and the good coffee helps to keep it busy. If only we could persuade the catering trade (bar some very good exceptions on which I have previously reported) that it is possible to bake just as well using dairy-free ingredients.

I think the only 2 negatives i would have about tea time are that they really need more seating room as it always full to bursting when i go and that if they cut the portion sizes down a little then maybe they could charge a little less as the price can be quite costly.

Great little Café/Restaurant. Décor is nothing fancy, a bit basic, but it is well presented and tastefully done. Now onto the food.........Great! This place offers some of the best tasting and varied soups around; and you get a good sized portion. Not the spit in the bottom of the bowl that is commonplace. The menu is very good giving you a range of sandwich fillings that are a bit different but really tastey. There is menu for main courses which again is a bit different and has a bit of thought put into it. You also have the old favourites if you have a plain palette. The coffee is 'Illy' brand and it is made properly, not burnt as you find in a lot of places....well done ladies. And now the cakes.......oh dear! If you are on a diet or has a sweet tooth then best cover your eyes: tablet cheesecake must be a 1000 calories a slice, you have been warned. The service provided by the ladies is also of an excellent standard. All-in-all a super place to lunch/high tea or just a very well made coffee.

Food was acceptable for a cafe of this type but front of house staff let it down a little. Slow to clear dirty table - bringing second course before dirty plates from main course cleared away etc. Just a little more attention to detail would make a huge improvement.

Love the cakes here. Always lots to choose from. Also nice fry-up (but not greasy) breakfasts. Breakfast menu hasn't changed for ages but that's a positive thing as I like it the way it is. And lovely people of course as well. Despite the date I come here at least once a month and have done since it opened.

We just called in for a bowl of soup. Excellent, freshly prepared home-made food, Fully accessible for a wheelchair, with no awkward step. Friendly, helpful staff. Good prices. A cafe to recommend in Lanark, and where we intend to return. A really interesting menu selection, with interesting variations on standard cafe fare. All very tasty and of a very high standard..

This place was pointed out to us as a nice place to eat. The staff especially the owner were very friendly and though I only had a coffee and my husband had a coffee and melting moment they were very good. The menu looked interesting and different so I would defienately go back for lunch.

It is small but the food is always excellent, especially the home-made and interesting soups. I totally disagree with the comments by Screenjunki, and know that the food is locally sourced. The staff are very welcoming and helpful.

I was recently in Lanark and had a recommendation to go to Tea Time for lunch. I was left disappointed. The crockery needs replaced, it was old and stained. The menu was good but maybe a little pricey. The staff were the best thing about the place. Sadly the scone that I had was CLEARLY bought from a bakers (and not sold to me at the bakers prices) and it was certainly not one of the home made ones that I was given the recommendation over. The cake cabinet had some great looking cakes but some of the tray bakes looked as if they had been bought in as well. I wouldn't rush back. I prefer a home baked freshly produced cafe.

Only downside of Tea Time is that it's small but you don't have to be big to be good.Yummy cakes and an interesting selection of soups which change on a daily basis.I'd only visit two coffee shops in Lanark and along with The Wallace Tearoom round the corner, Tea time hits the spot.

I have visited Tea Time 10+ times and the only down side is it's not bigger so I can sit in every time. A small but bustling cafe filled with tempting cakes and pastries they always have something new to try along with all the old favourites like tiffin and meringues. All sold along side a savoury menu of soups, sandwiches, salads and hot filled rolls. Get here before the lunchtime rush to guarantee a seat.

As regulars of this quaint lovely cafe I thought it high time I came on here to give it the praise it deserves. The menu is simple with fresh locally sourced ingredients and a great selection of daily specials. In particular I recommend trying the variety of weird but wonderful soups that sound like they shouldn't work, but just do.The 'soup guru' as she is named sees to this with a knowledge for palette second to none, the sandwiches and baguettes on offer are fresh and tasty also, and the cakes are just to die for.My only problem is deciding what to eat as I'm always afraid of missing out, such is the high quality on offer, and the staff are always on hand with a friendly welcome. In short,If you're anywhere near Lanark it's a must visit.

We were passing, it was mid-morning and we fancied a brew. The cafe was clean and there was a lovely array of homemade cakes so we felt obliged to sample them. I can vouch for the chocolate eclairs and the melting moments. The staff were very pleasant and I would certainly go back

Fantastic for Scottish breakfasts, lunch and cakes. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Best place in lanark to stop for a coffee. This is a very popular wee cafe so it is usually very busy if not full at lunchtime.

This cafe had a great atmosphere and amazing food. Could not fault it! Lovely cakes and a massive selection of food. Also not sure if the bad review down below was a mix up for another cafe in the area as Tea Time does not gave any place mats and the staff are all very helpful! :)

This place looked inviting enough especially to take my grandmother for some tea and cakes. However once seated, I found it to be although quite a small tightly packed space, there should never be an excuse for having unclean table matts and crumbs not cleaned from the table. Staff did not seem to be very helpful when asking about menu options and quite grumpy and all looked rather unhappy to work there. Felt rather uncomfortable as they seemed to glare in our direction for the remainder of our stay. Regardless below average food and would never dream of going back!

My husband and I visited the Abbeygreen Cafe today for lunch enroute from Elgin to Warwickshire. It is ideally situated just off the M74 motorway. We had a warm welcome from the friendly staff and the food, drink and service were excellent. Prices were very reasonable . We would highly recommend. !
