Attended on a quiet midweek day hoping we could get a nice lunch. The food was okay but service was real poor. Had to get staff attention to place a order and then after ordering waited over 35 mins for a sandwich and crisps. It wasn’t busy so was surprised at how slow everything was. The young girl could hardly raise a smile and admitted they were short staffed and apologetic, but not a great experience.

Previous visits have been excellent with a consistently high standard. Today fell short of that: Delay in serving Drinks were not hot Drink spilt into saucer. That’s how it was.

A lovely little tea shop hidden away in a quiet part of Leek. Great choice of gluten free sandwich fillings and toasties served with salad and crisps. Staff friendly and helpful. Some tables on the ground floor and others upstairs. Lovely gift shop also on the ground floor. Well worth the visit if you want a Gluten Free light lunch.

We stopped here because it looked lovely and it didn’t disappoint. The cafetière of coffee was delicious as was the hot chocolate, and the toasted sandwiches were also lovely. Definitely recommend.

This is a clean, beautifully furnished tea room run by mother & daughter. Mother does all the baking & daughter makes all the beautiful china. My husband & I had a cream tea...luscious!! Although the main tearoom is upstairs there is a big table on ground level for the not so agile & you can enjoy seeing all the hand made china on display & for sale. The staff are helpful & friendly & when we are in Leek again this establishment will be 1st on our list.

Visited here yesterday just by chance and what a lovely place. We choose to have the afternoon tea for two - fantastic! We were told it may take around 20 mins to prepare but that was fine as it gave us the opportunity to look around at the artwork and ceramic ware on display. We were served a lovely pot of fresh coffee and the table was set out before the cake stand arrived was our selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Everything was so fresh and tasty, a delight. The service was really good too and got to meet the young lady that designs the ceramic ware and other lovely pieces on display. Will be returning as soon as and will highly recommend it - thank you ladies and wish you all the very best!

We were a group of ladies out for the day in Leek and luckily found this charming tea room, we sat downstairs as a couple of us weren’t to good to get upstairs. The women there were helpful and cheerful, myself who can be a problem as gluten free was in the right place as they catered for me..the soup and crumpets were delicious and my friends all enjoyed there food.. I’m going back to Leek very soon with other friends from Australia so I guess I know where we will be heading.

Oh my word wonderful and delicious!! We booked for 6 adults and 2 babies and there was a beautifully set table reserved for us. They made us feel so at ease, accommodated food allergies without any hesitation and we're just lovely! The food was delicious; homemade and so generous. Would absolutely go back again!

We recently called for Afternoon Tea, which was excellent. It included sandwiches, cakes and scones and some salad ( at least you can say you have had some of your five a day !). This is not a one off as we go in once a week for tea and cakes after trying most of the others in Leek. All the cakes are home made, the coffee is good, nice surroundings and the staff are very pleasant, what more could you ask for ? Sit upstairs, downstairs or outside under cover. Also a small shop downstairs selling things not available elsewhere.

A very unusual, special place which we love going to. The homemade cakes are great but we can’t resist the gorgeous scones with cream and jam, with a cafetière of coffee. It is all served beautifully on lovely modern china (apparently designed by one of the owners and on sale downstairs) and with friendly but unobtrusive service by the lady who does all the baking. It’s a calm, bright environment upstairs, with tables downstairs which might be warmer in winter. A great place to sit and read the paper or catch up with friends. As well as the designer chinaware there are some very unusual pieces on sale in the shop too which have made great presents. Our favourite cafe in Leek.

I visited Tea- cake after researching trip advisor looking for a lunch venue. The setting is beautiful. From the yard outside to the clean and inviting decor and china inside. I ordered an Italian coffee (the strongest they had), and a cheese and chutney sandwich. The sandwich was about the same as i would make at home and though it was tasty i don't think it warranted a price of £6.50. I really expected rustic bread and a thick filling for that price. The coffee was awful. Very weak which i didn't expect from a cafe that services different strengths of coffee. I don't know if i was unlucky with who served me as other reviews have raved about the coffee.

We visited Tea-cake today for the first time and it won’t be the last! The tea room itself is beautiful, light and airy with plenty of room between the tables giving it a comfy feel. The selection of food was perfect for me with gluten and diary free options available. The sandwiches, scones and cake were beautifully fresh and tasty. The sandwiches were very well filled and come with yummy crisps, homemade coleslaw and salad. There is a wide selection beautiful quality ceramics, art and gift items for sale downstairs. We would be recommend Tea-cake to anyone looking for a good quality, homemade meal in lovely surroundings with friendly and helpful staff.

My wife and I dropped in here on a Sunday afternoon. Not very convenient for them as it was at the end of a busy day, but we were made very welcome and enjoyed tea, hot chocolate and delicious home-made cakes. Tea+Cake is not all that easy to find, but if you're looking for a snack in Leek it's well worth the effort to seek out this delightful tearoom, which is tucked away in Getliffe Yard.

On our first visit to Leek, we looked round various cafes before deciding here, having looked at the menu and liked the look of the place. We were here just for a mid morning break, after looking round this pleasant market town. There were 5 of us and a waitress quickly made up a larger table for us upstairs, again, a pleasant atmosphere. There was a good range of teas and coffees. Our party chose tea (Earl Grey & Breakfast). All our snacks were tasty - cream & jam scones, coffee walnut cake, cinammon toast and a tea cake. Prices VERY reasonable.

My friend had booked myself and another friend in for dinner here for our birthdays. We asked for bread and olives for the table as a starter, this was served with just 2 pieces of bread and there were 3 of us so we asked for another and the waitress said she had asked already and we would need to pay for an extra bit of bread, they also didn’t have the oil to go with the bread. Two of us ordered steak for main, I’d asked for no mushrooms, when they were served the sauces were on the wrong plates and mine had mushrooms, the waitress took it back then came back and said that my friend and I had been given the wrong ones so to swap and then it would be right. The steaks were so insanely salty, it made my friend and I feel sick. The chips were meant to be triple cooked but it didn’t taste like it. My friend had a blue cheese sauce and said it was quite bland. Our table was booked for 7pm and we were informed a few days before that quiz night starts at 8pm. This was fine and it was good to be informed beforehand but we hadn’t considered how loud it would be, the music during the meal was loud and the microphone was the quiz was also super loud so we couldn’t hear each other speak. My friend asked for something to be taken off the bill due to the poor steaks, the lady who sorted this out was great and very apologetic, she was very helpful in sorting it out, the waitress we had was also lovely. It seemed to be an issue with the chef. We hardly ate our meals and got McDonalds on the way home because we were so hungry. I would go back there sadly.

They were very busy when we were there so service was lacking, a lot of tables were not cleared, the scones were dry and the coffee was not very good. A beautiful old tea house though.
