TEA beside the orchard in Rother

A bit hidden behind hedges, easy to miss. Parking is gravel, but firm-ish. Motorcycles could use a foot or pad for side-stand. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Food good, and prices are acceptable. Tea & coffee lovely. All round a nice dropin Cafe.

Can't recommend - quite overpriced. At least situated conveniently.

We visit here a lot. Their breakfast is great, their afternoon tea's are amazing as well as all of the other stuff we have tried. We often pop in on our way past to treat ourselves to some cake to have later in the day once we are back at our caravan down here. The place has changed since the photo attached.

An interesting place to eat. The bloke who served us was a diamond geezer... The tuck involved a generous amount of cheese. There's no such thing as too much cheese! A nice drop of tea. All in all, a lunch worth having.

Quirky, no frills decent coffee. Partner said tea was very nice and the cakes were to die for. So glad we stopped on our drive out. Will be stopping here again.

Very glad we found this lovely place on a rainy Sunday morning. We had a warm welcome and one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever enjoyed. Service was absolutely delightful!

Had an amazing ploughman's here, tea was served in proper china cups too, only downside was the generator was noisy but hopefully when I return the electrical problem will be sorted

Grandchildren loved the Halloween bits were very good for little ones and cake was lovely good price as huge slices

Absolutely wonderful tea room run (from what we could tell) by extremely professional and friendly young staff. Sandwiches and cakes were first-rate. Perfect spot if you have the kiddoes in tow, who can be let loose in the playground out back while mum and dad watch from their picnic table.

Lovely place. We were there on a Sunday. People were relaxed and calm. It was busy but not crowded at all. Weather was beautiful. It feels like a true picknick there. out in the garden on the bemches. Had a lovely English breakfast although it was already half past noon. Lovely place to enjoy and relax.

The drinks were cold took 20mins to serve the service slow no spoons on cups sandwiches not even half full we complained got hot drinks but when told about the egg they said we have to boiled more eggs already waited for them to do the first bread dry hair on tomato ,toilets no toilet rolls door stiff and lock lose ...me iam not usually a moaner but had plenty to moan about lovely place but for service and food..

Lovely friendly staff but not very organised. Slow service and tea served without a cup, cold drinks were forgotten, vlack coffee served with milk in it, but the most disappointing part was the afternoon tea. A plain cucumber sandwich, a plain tomato sandwich and a tuna mayo sandwich, followed by a partly frozen Swiss roll, some seemingly shop bought meringues and macaroons and some scones which were so crispy on the outside that they tasted like toast! Not what I expected at all. In response to your reply- when we discussed the requirements for the afternoon tea and you asked whether the regular afternoon tea would prefer to have no meat and just fish the same as the pescetarian one, and my mother informed you that she didn't like salmon or onion so regular meat would be fine, and I said I liked smoked salmon! Regardless, there was no salmon in any of the sandwiches and not even any cheese to accompany the plain cucumber or tomato sandwiches, there was no reason to serve just plain tomato or cucumber sandwiches regardless of dietary requirements. Your waitress mentioned it was her first day and the young lad working looked like he was struggling too, so instead of making a scene in front of your other customers and causing your staff further stress when they were clearly struggling to cope, after having had to already make several requests for forgotten items, it seemed more polite to leave some constructive criticism for you here. After all, we learn from our mistakes 😉

The interior has a unique mix of tables and seating, ranging form cinema seats to odd-shaped planks of wood. Normal chairs and tables too :) The decor adds to an attractive and interesting interior which sets it aside from the norm, making a visit more enjoyable. Not particularly large, so could get a little conjested when very busy. Also ample seating outside, together with a younger children's play area. Delicious cakes, good food, various non-food items for sale (art-related, bags, decorations, etc.), large car park, and easy to get to.

Not as clean as it could be. The tables needed clearning. Cups were reused for a 2nd drink. No visible bins inside or out.

Very lovely establishment to have a full afternoon tea, or as we did, a Sussex tea, with a raspberry scone with cream and jam. We also ordered some nice cakes in the side. Nice lady served the tea. The cakes are all home made

Oh dear whats happened to this place clearly understaffed but the way the woman who was doing the drinks spoke to another member of staff was disgusting clearly had a bad attitude, we witnessed several occasions of this, took 25 minutes to get a drink no apology nothing other people were bringing there drinks back as cold, others asked for there money back as they waited nearly a hour for food I heard again no apology, woman doing the drinks barking orders couldn't unload a dishwasher and moaning running out of things loads of dirty tables not cleared I don't no why they don't have a system where you get a number then they write it on order many orders came back as poor other staff member couldn't find customers shout it out grumpy woman said, breakfast was lovely 40 min wait got mine hubbie had to ask for his that was left on the side such a shame, seriously need to sort staff issues out & get rid of the horrible woman who clearly is a bully will not return

Lovely place beside the road to stop and get a bit of brunch! Waited quite a while for my food but was very good and certainly worth the wait. Thoroughly enjoyed my Cream tea here!

Had a lovely smooshed avocado breakfast here all cooked fresh to order. Staff friendly and helpful. They were running a swap tennis ball for an apple to juice game when we were there. Had a community feel to the gathering and visiting stalls. The orchard had failed to crop due to a rogue late frost so it was good to support this local family enterprise. Highly recommended. Well done and good luck next year.

Understaffed, first place I’ve ever been to where you get served by what you order not when you order it! If I would have known it would be an HOUR wait, I wouldn’t of ordered the Camembert. No apology when approached to ask how much longer it would be, just argued in front of a room full of customers. Two stars only for the poor girl who was run ragged on the till.

What a wonderful little tearoom. Me and my wife had a full English breakfast and it was lovely. We will definitely be back.

We stumbled across this lovely tea room a couple of years ago and we do not go anywhere else now, we travel down from London whenever we want an afternoon tea or some fresh homemade cakes/scones. Always welcomed with a smile, nothing is ever a problem, the staff remember you every time and take an interest in yourself. Best customer service I’ve received and the best cakes/scones/food we have ever had the delight of enjoying! Will use time and time again without hesitation :)

Absolutely delicious cakes especially the chocolate brownie which melts in your mouth. Tea is served in bone China cups which is the way tea should be had. Decor could do with a bit of uniformity. On the whole a great stop off.

It was nice to be able to have an afternoon tea with a garden outside for the children to play in. However the service was slow and not receptive when there was need to tell them about problems with the food. Overall we had an ok time. Would return but not if they had nearby competition.

Terrible. Waited an hour for food, no apologies no explanation. Our friends ordered just before, this is not the first time, they complained their crab sandwich was half the usual side.

Found this place by accident as we were looking for somewhere for a late lunch. Amazing crab sandwiches followed by raspberry scones with cream and jam and a pot of tea. Checkout their Eccles cakes as big as saucers. Nice outside space to sit and while away an afternoon in the sun. A little gem

Had lunch at the tea room today, found it very expensive, had a ploughman's which came with half a slice of ham a lump of cheese salad with a spice piccalilli (not nice) a large roll, my granddaughter had a chicken and bacon sandwich the bacon was cold!! The plants on sale were ok

We stopped twice to have a break here. Very good service, excellent food, fresh, and tasty. Clean and interesting cafe. Plenty of parking which is free. Seating inside and out. I highly recommend the chicken and bacon salad. Lots of choice on the menu. 10/10

A friend and I went for lunch, service was excellent. I've given 3 stars as I felt that the food was overpriced for what was a VERY small jacket potato, with what seemed a small spoonful of topping and a tiny helping of salad.
