Beautifully presented dishes full of flavour. Friendly staff, very chilled atmosphere, we will definitely visit again. We had the tasting menu and shared a wine pairing between two of us ,a fantastic selection of dishes ,flavours ,textures 5 out of 5 for sure

Taylor's was quite simply a joy from start to finish - and we didn't want it to end! Always fearful for service standards to slip with a group of eight people, we needn't have worried as the quietly professional staff were attentive and friendly throughout the meal. We had the tasting menu, with wine pairings, and each plate was cooked with the highest attention to detail and presented beautifully. Flavours and textures were sublime and each wine had been perfectly matched to the superb food. Ruth's wine knowledge was first class and Ellesha perfectly introduced each course to reflect the unpretentious but highly skilled cooking by the chefs - who we could see but hardly hear during the lunchtime service. It can only be a matter of time before Taylor's is awarded it's first Michelin star, although I can't see even that changing what is already a wonderful and memorable dining experience. Thanks guys!

Lovely setting. Staff very attentive and happy for you to take your time. The food was excellent. The lobster ravioli was very tasty. The pork was the best pork I’ve had in a lovely time. The dessert was nice but felt over complicated and a bit too much. Overall a great evening and I would highly recommend this little intimate restaurant.

Delighted to have treated my wife to a meal at Taylors. The food was absolutely excellent. We did the six course menu and were very impressed with every course, in particular the attention to detail of the food was terrific. The service was straightforward and professional, with the waitress providing a detailed explanation of each dish. It was welcome that she had previously tried each dish which no doubt aided her descriptions. Obviously the meals aren’t “cheap”, but in my view they represent excellent value for money given the quality of both the ingredients and presentation. Well done to the team for all their hard work that makes it possible. Hopefully locals will recognise this unique offering and support it when looking for a special treat or to mark a significant occasion.

Went on a romantic lunch. Everything was perfect and well presented. We esp loved the freshly made pasta.

Enjoyed ourselves and good food. Quite a small place but that makes it a bit exclusive. Marked this down a star because the menu choices are a bit limited. What we chose was good, tasty and with unusual choices. Sounds strange, but it was absolutely fine and different, were the stones among the several different butter pats. We will return.

Wednesday dinner. 5 course tasting menu with matching wine pairing. Very generous portions, great culinary experience. Service was good but could be improved. Also worth noting, the restaurant has a lovely outside area and we took a glass of wine for a little pause between courses. Highly recommend.

Premises, staff, and welcome, all very good. Set menu looked promising, and started well; the canapes were small and perfect, accompanied by a glass of rosé champagne. Next the bread and flavoured butters, rather insipid, where was the seasoning? To the starters of prawn ravioli, just not good enough; dense prawn filling, not mousse, with no flavour, in a flavourless bisque, really disappointing. For the mains, things really improved with the halibut, fennel and mushrooms; contrasting but balanced, and full of flavour, excellent. Desserts and cheese were good, as were the petits fours. With a good bottle of sancerre, and a couple of brandies, the bill was where we thought it would be, but the overall quality of cooking wasn't there. If there was a 'good' option of 3.5 stars, then this was it, but certainly not 4, on this occasion, sorry.

Excellent presentation of food, all courses explained on how and what ingredients had been presented. A little high on prices, however if you are looking for something special, then this is a place to visit. I'm not sure why some dishes require carrying an additional supplement charge, although the main course steak we had was beutifully presented and cooked to perfection..

If you are looking for something a little special then I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The interior is minimalist in appearance but the food offering is superb. Sadly this was lunch and I was driving so I didn't get to try the wine. I'll be back. And, to top it all, the staff are lovely. I watched the chef preparing our food and was impressed with his skills. Cauliflower ice-cream, not sure? Try it, it was fantastic. This really is a hidden gem and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I like to wait to visit somewhere a few times before leaving a review. I have dined here on multiple occasions now, each time the food has been exceptional. The environment is relaxed and it's very easy to spend hours at your table, with no sense of rush. Therr is a good wine menu and good selection of dishes on the frequently changing menu that caters for vegetarians too. Given the quality of food I feel the price is fair. I am already becoming a regular and planning my next visit.

Cannot recommend Taylors more highly. Today six of us shared a fabulous 70th birthday fine dining experience and without doubt one of the most enjoyable meals we have had anywhere over many years. Do not hesitate try this restaurant as you will not be disappointed.

The taster menu was fantastic. This little restaurant in Newark is a gem and Newark is lucky to have it. The chef is an alchemist/artist and so it’s Michelin star from me 😁

This place knows food. Our meal last night was absolutely incredible. The king prawn ravioli is one of those dishes I’ll remember for years. Every dish to be fair was delicious as was the wine. All the team are friendly, professional and knowledgable. How this place is not recognised in the Michelin guide puzzles me. Price also a lot more palatable than its competitors in Nottingham. Can’t recommend this place enough

Just phenomenal, they hosted our Wedding Breakfast for us and every guest was blown away. They couldn't have been more accommodating, easy to deal with and professional. We are so grateful.

We had a fantastic meal here just before Christmas for my birthday. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was just stunning. Perfect portions and beautifully displayed. This was Michelin level food but without the Michelin price tag. Just fantastic. Can’t wait to go again.

Pie night. Monday offer for a pie and mash. With a little starter and a small sweet for after. Not something you’d expect to get at this restaurant but absolutely wonderful. Absolutely amazing value for money. Also didn’t try to up sell with expensive drinks.

Celebration of Game Menu. An amazing range of game, cooked to perfection and served by wonderful waiting staff with a full description of each course. 7 game taster courses including pie, pate, duck croquettes, pheasant risotto, crusted pigeon breast, partridge ravioli and venison wellington, all served with fabulous sauces. We missed out the optional cheese course and then enjoyed an amazing Gin and raspberry granita followed by Tarre Tatin with cinnamon ice cream. And then..petit four and coffee. Every single plate on our table of four went back empty and every single morsel enjoyed! 2 of the party had the wine pairing, which again was served with a full description and the reason it was served with a particular course. A perfect meal in beautiful restaurant. Many thanks ks to the entire team.

Food, service, ambiance were all absolutely on point. Fantastic from the beginning to the end. We chose to put together a meal of small plates and sides based on what we might like and everything was delicious. Great advice on wine selection and the service was attentive without being overbearing. A great dining experience all around.

Yet another great dining experience at Taylor’. We had a 3 course meal with extra starters, and wine pairing menu. Food was excellent at Michelin star level. Wine pairing very good with a spectacular 2004 Gran Reserva Rioja although it should have been served at lower temperature. Excellent value for money experience with great service. Highly recommended. Thank you Taylor’s for another memorable experience!

A welcome addition to the Sunday lunch scene around Newark. Taylors on Castlegate are now doing an excellent Sunday lunch. The weekend before last the food was fabulous, the right mix between a "chefy and traditional Sunday roast" with a generous portion of beef and great gravy. Slight hiccup hence only 4 stars with wine dregs being poured but dealt with generously and professionally, so left a cash tip. Look forward to giving a full 5 star review in the future.

I was trying to find somewhere to book for my brother's 50th and came across Taylor's. Straight away it appealed! We are a family of foodies, in particular my brother, so was an easy decision to book it. All my enquiries prior to the day were dealt with beautifully As soon as we pulled up outside my brother was excited about the meal! We were a party of 6 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. We had the tasting menu and most did the wine pairing. Service and presentation cannot be faulted Any dietary requirements were catered for without issue We never felt rushed for the duration of our visit The staff even booked our return taxis for us as the company we rang couldn't accommodate us I would love to return again

Loved every course of the tasting menu, but the steak course really stood out for me, absolutely delicious.

Have eaten here three times now and fantastic each time, definitely some of the best food you will ever have with well paired wine. Likewise service has always been great. I'd go every week if I could.

Expensive but value! Unbelievable to find this quality in Newark and I am ' born and bred' Generally I am not a fan of Taster menus but this is the best I have had.

Terrible ! Service - the waiter didn’t listen or write down what I ordered - medium to well no garlic butter steak plz - medium topped with garlic ! Starter - prawn cocktail ? Small egg cup sized dish with 3-4 uncooked prawn bits / tail bits - £6.00 each ! Bread - 3 very small pieces of white bread between us when asked for the brown! Empty glasses most of the time had to ask for more . They did take money off the bill . Vote with our feet - never again !

Amazing experience. Having visited a local Michelin star restaurant, the food at Taylor's was on par, but with a more relaxed environment. The fig liqueur and extra cheese course were a fantastic addition!

From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to have an excellent evening here. We were seated in the potting shed which was quirky and comfortable. The food was incredible and the service first class. We have eaten in some fabulous restaurants and this is up there with the best. The food just kept coming and the flavours were sensational. A real fine dining experience. The food was exquisite and each course looked beautiful too. The server and the head chef came to the table, providing information about the dish, all of which looked stunning and prepared with so much care. Excellent food and overall experience. They adjusted the menu to my dietary requirements and I loved the entire taster menu. Very creative and innovative! Staff and experience were spot on, absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately some other guests lied about their issues rather than raise them with us and hopefully one day they'll get what's coming to them and their superior attitude will finally be found out, but I doubt it as they seem to think they're superior, but are in fact helmets.

Stunning Tasting Menu at the Best Restaurant in Newark Wow! This was a real lunch time treat. This is real Fine Dining😋 From the start with the Bread Platter you know it's going to be something special. Followed by the Lobster with fresh Squid ink pasta. Not going to list it all as there is a pic of the menu for you to drool over.😃 The star of the show was the Rump Steak with Ox Tail, Parsnip and Beetroot. At the end of the meal you get Petit Fours with tea included. We feel at £60 for a tasting menu as good as this it's great value. The service and food was outstanding. We Sat on one of their Chef's table so you can see all the dishes being created. They also have a lovely cosy cellar area ideal for private dining. Fantastic Dining Experience! First time here tried the Evening menu, absolute explosion of flavours on the pallet. There wasn't a single thing we didn't like, exceptional culinary skills going on in this restaurant. The service is very very good, the atmosphere is just right, but the food Blow's your socks off its like going to a Michelin star restaurant. At £70 per head you'll probably think it's steep but it's worth every penny and it is deceiving aswell! It will fill you up. We will be returning probably once a month to see what other menus they produce. Well done to all staff at Taylor's you've done an amazing job! Whatever catering team you have please keep them! They are bloody amazing.

We had a fantastic meal this lunchtime, the food was stunning and the wine flight absolute value for money. The staff are great and the atmosphere in the kitchen professional but jovial.
