Rude staff, cash only, but she is the restaurant owner's daughter, cant help. Nice food but dont worth to down your mood for it.

The food is always great (especially the summer rolls). But the service was honestly shocking. The waitress who has been there for some time is consistently rude and just genuinely seems to be a bad person. Hopefully she doesn't rely on tips to make a living. What a miserable existence.

Great Vietnamese food. Variety of dishes and very tasty. Large portions, fresh ingredients. Efficient service. Simple decor. Definitely one of the good ones around the area. Great value for money, really good prices. Cash only! And it’s bring your own booze.

We used to visit this restaurant regularly in the past, and we went back a few weeks ago. For sure, it was our last time. Shocking service!! The waitress was very abrupt, and she didn't have any customer service skills. We ordered many dishes, and they tried to bring them all at the same time!! Unbelievable!!

Nice flavours, but the food was partly warm and partly cold despite living close to the restaurant. I was also fortunate to have cash when they pointed out that they do not take card. If you are hungry and on your way home during the late hours, they stay open quite late in the evening. Just ensure that you have cash and check the temperature of your food before you leave. Nothing worst than sitting down to cold meal on a cold night when you have had a long day.

Food not adequately cooked, rude staff and cold atmosphere. We had to call the waiter after 15 minutes because no one attended to us. No wifi, and dodgy policies about the "cash only" requirement! Not recommended at all

Pleasant atmosphere and service, but very disappointing food. The steamed rice rolls had tiny shrimps rather than prawns, the deep fried fish was bland and expensive for what it was. The Singapore noodles were just horrible. There are much better eating options nearby.

Decent prices, byob which is great, quickly replaced a meal I said was super salty with ease. Prices have gone up recently but its good portion sizes It is cash only which is a little annoying and there no Internet signal.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Spring rolls were ugly, transparent, no flavour with small shrimps (ordered with prawns). And crispy egg noodles with duck came as all ingredients separated, noodles were dry, duck was cooked in water and not on the pan as it should be with crispy skin. Picture attached. Disgusting!

Delicious vegan options, the tofu in a black bean sauce was absolutely delicious 10/10. Also the rest of the options were nice as well.

Disappointingly underwhelming Vietnamese food. Meat was dry and tough, and the whole meal was cold. The worst part, however, was the incredibly rude servers. Understanding the habit of service in Asian restaurants coming from Asia myself, I was already expecting to be serving myself. However, the service was unbelievably cold and rude, with the waitress throwing the bill on the table and suddenly telling us they only took cash. She then followed that up with “cash only I already told you” when she had barely said a word to us the whole night. One word answers and rude off-putting facial expressions are how I would describe how the service felt. Overheard the servers being rude to other customers making simple inquiries about reservations as well. Not planning on coming back again and would not recommend.

Unreal food every time I come, the best Vietnamese in London hands down. Lovely staff, busy atmosphere in the restaurant. Definitely recommend

Food is decent and reasonably priced so it’s overall a good value for money. But oh boy, the service is unbelievable. The young lady waitress is rude, does not greet you, nor does she responds to you when you ask questions. She actually asks you to do her job sometimes as you need to constantly ask for the same thing all over again. I stood up and get my own glass of water. She does not smile or treat you with curtesy, she seems upset with you for some reason. Is this the way you treat customer? If so I truly believe you shouldn’t open a restaurant, especially if you dislike people. There are so many other Vietnamese restaurant in London, perhaps it’s time to explore and perhaps they are a bit more friendly than Tay di Cafe staff.

Rude waitress who made me feel very unwelcome. When I asked if she would recommend a dish she said she didn't eat meat so was the wrong person to ask! Shame as I had heard good things. Ordered the pork skin and herbs rolls. It was horrible. Basically rubbery rind. Won't be going back.

Ordered the duck & char siu with jasmine rice, the duck & char siu was not fresh, tasted like it was pre cooked maybe a day ago for sure and for £11.20 I felt I could've got it somewhere else for the same price but fresher. Bare in mind they don't accept card payments, only cash! (To be fair they offered a bank transfer payment and I just went with that because I was starving). Service was okay, the place is a little out dated, dull & quiet atmosphere. Standard place, not missing out on anything.

Top notch food, top notch service.. Atmosphere so so, but that's what one has to forgo if one wants a nice hidden gem Vietnamese food in London at a price not risking a hole in your wallet. Best time to come during afternoons where crowd is non-existence (still baffles me to date). Overall, one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in London.

Wanted a Vietnamese meal,so many to choose from around this area but picked the one that had local families in. Our waitress was attentive and served us a great papaya salad with tofu and noodle dishes with lovely prawn toast and seaweed. For three of us,with drinks it was £47. Really reasonable for London.

The fish was delicious, really tasty. It was 20£ for a fish. We can bring our own bottles of alcohol.

Went there a few weeks ago with a group of six friends. The restaurant is bright, busy, informal, and down to earth. Staff were friendly and we all enjoyed our meals. BYOB is a bonus. It's cash only so come prepared, but there's a cashpoint across the road.

The food is generally great but the service was appalling. First visit was lunch, had to ask three times for the tea i ordered. The waitress, seems like family, was yoo busy on her phone. This was lunch and the place eas not busy. She just sat behind bar ingoring us. 2nd visit, also lunch, very quiet, sat at a tablen same ignoring waitress. Suddenly she stepped out of the restaurant with a family friend with a small child. We waited and waited. Finally some staff came out of kitchen. I signalled i was ready to order. Waited Waited Ignore Ignore Finally we got up and left after 15 minutes waiting for waitress to return. This same waitress served me before at their 2nd location across street. Frankly if she was not family ahe should be fired. Plenty of good Viet restaurants on Kingsland road. Not returning

Not sure how people are giving this place a bad review. You get amazing, authentic and delicious food here. It's BYOB (cossie livs) and is so well priced. The staff are warm and friendly - it's can get busy so can understand if they're not the most present. But the food more than makes up for it. Fancy fine dining it's not, but endless tasty dishes it is!

Tasteless unauthentic food. Staff were rude failed to tell us the only accept cash, found out when we tried to pay the bill. There are no signs anywhere to say it is a cash only restaurant. Was told to go to the cash point and leave my belongings behind. The whole experience including the tasteless awful food was a horrible experience.

Besides the food which resembles a frozen microwave meal with no taste what so ever the staff were so rude. Ordered the following dishes and they're all very tasty, delicious and good portion. Great value for food in London. The service is fast and friendly. Also so many dishes on the menu to choose. Never ever have I experienced waitress so rude. She slammed our glasses down, shouted at us for moving tables even though we asked and then proceeded to give us a dry, stale plate of seaweed almost seconds after we had ordered it which was clearly been sitting in the kitchen for ages. The waitress was so rude that we decided to walk out. Never going back. Learn how to treat your customers honey.

Authentic... I wish I could be invited to their normal family lunch gathering after everyone else is served lunch. I needed to review urgently again. We were there yesterday, 10 April 2023. And I was so disappointed with the heavily negative vibe coming from the server 😒 . Never had I felt sad in this place ever before. The lady owner and all other Vietnamese servers always wear a smile on all, but yesterday was uniquely powerfully NEGATIVE. We even witnessed her comment on those young customers who asked for the manager... (who didn't allow her rudeness unnoticed) claimed that she is the manager and "to go away if you're not happy." That was an awkward moment everyone felt whilst eating. She might be alone at the time, but it's never an excuse to be rude and affect the owner's good reputation. The chefs were even helping serving with the orders. Overall, what was supposed to be a good night out resulted in a stressful environment. The evening was getting busy before we left. I wonder how the next batch of customers handled her negativity and very poor customer service. Good luck, Tay Do. Xin Chao. Cam on.

Quick service but lack of texture. Pho was underexpectation. It was like they put all vegetables together and pour hot water in it. Not reccomended

Excellent BYO, terrific portions

I have been coming to the place on regular basis. No doubt- the food is incredible DELICIOUS unfortunately the service not always however this Saturday friends of mine and myself were served by the lady with long eye lashes and ‘the dots’- don’t know her name but if you really want to fully enjoy your visit at Tay do Cafe- look and ask for her! She literally made our evening.

Been coming here for 20 years. Food is always amazing. One of my favourite restaurants in London. Hope to be coming here for the next 20 years.

Duck portion was not particularly generous but the food quality was good. They accept cash only, we found it out only when we tried to pay the bill. The same happened to other customers sitting next to us.

Simple restaurant serving Vietnamese street food. Inexpensive and no crowd in the weekend.

This place was recommended by a great friend, I did not enjoy my dishes I stayed safe and ordered what I eat regularly soft shell crab, which smelt funny almost like ammonia, I tried to bring it to the server's attention, I was told that's the seafood smell. I wanted to order salt and pepper prawns with coconut rice which was over cooked and tasted like rice pudding, I tried to extra order satay sauce so my dish wasn't too dry. I was convinced by the server to order the satay prawns as it was better, I should had stuck to my guns the satay prawns tasted like spicy curry and satay, I didn't eat all my dishes I was rather disappointed as I love this type of food. I may give them a second chance ordering what I want! On a good note the staff team were polite, happy and friendly. I might try the other branch.

Really lovely and authentic Vietnamese food. The portions for the starters and noodles were generous. Loved their banh cuon. Service was good and fast. Will recommend giving this a go if in the area.

Food was good, but a bit too oily. Hard to complain about anything particular. Ordered a bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodle soup) which was just lacking that little bit of flavour in the broth, didn't taste authentic and was not spicy as expected, frog legs in coconut and lemongrass - the frog meat was really juicy, tender and delicious but the gravy was a bit too creamy rich with an overdose of coconut cream, mixed platter was nice but seems like it was cooked twice. Lastly, the restaurant only accepts cash which is not advertised at the door (had to withdraw from a charge ATM :( )

The food was good, the service was wobbly and the lady which served us seem be unfriendly. When I ask for the bills she decided to set up table for 12 and speak with other team members instead of clearing the table and follow the bill

Their hospitality never fails to amaze me, I accidentally broke one of their plates and the young lady working there didn’t make the situation awkward. I can’t fault the service at all and the food is just as good, I’ll be back soon :)

Decided to visit here as it was busy. Dissapointed in overall experience. We ordered a few different dishes, 1 king prawn in lemongrass+chilli. There was a picture on the menu, had an idea what it looked like. This arrived and was 3 big prawns deep fried with the shell on. No sauce, no veg, the batter didn't taste of lemongrass or chilli. Was difficult to eat with the shell on. I asked the younger waitress if I could see a menu to check id looked at right thing, she seemed to get her back up straight away and just said yes that's it, couldnt be bothered arguing or ordering something else. The rest of the food was fine, but quite sugary, a bit greasy. The older waiter/waitress seemed friendlier so its a shame as she was unapproachable and quite moody. Wouldn't go back.

Went here on a whim and no regrets. The restaurant is fairly large and the people running it are very friendly. Food arrived quickly and the portions are large. I had the shaking beef while my dining companions ordered pho and the Vietnamese pancake. We also ordered a papaya salad to share. The papaya salad was refreshing and the veggies nice and crisp. The shaking beef had a really yummy sauce. I wish the beef was just slightly more tender. The char on it was delicious and the sauce was great with the rice on the side. I look forward to coming back here and trying more on the menu!

Everyone I was with were really happy with their food (group of 8). Sadly mine was a bit bland (seafood chow mein). The starter was lovely though (veg spring rolls). The portions were generous, the service great (very patient with undecided ditherers) and the atmosphere was excellent. It was full, bookings only.

If they look busy, don't even bother trying to get a table. Never experienced such rude staff in all my life in London. It takes a second to say 'please wait'... ignoring patrons and walking off because you're in a bad mood is a REALLY bad look.

Had a brilliant meal here in September 2022. The prices are extremely reasonable (five of us paid £17 each for three starters to share, a main each, and corkage) and the food was some of the best Vietnamese I've had in London. They have a marked up allergens menu online. BYOB, great vibes, very relaxed. Note that it's cash only and you might need to wait a while before being served as the place gets very busy at peak!

Kingsland Road defo the place for viet food. The environment was nice and the price is so damn cheap. Feels like we are back to 2019. I always suggest my friend to try out this place. Just because they are amazing. Pho was 11 and the spring roll was 6.50 so authentic. Still the same favor when I was there 4 years ago.

A canteen like environment with warm and friendly atmosphere. Huge variety of delicious Vietnamese food on the menu. Also bring your own booze. And conveniently close to Hoxton Overground Station and all the buses on Kingsland High Street.

They can seem to read over there. Twice in a role I ordered from here and there were items missing. Resturant wasn't helpful and so I had to deal with the app which was long. Definately not worth it. Overpriced and unless you only order 1 item, it's a gamble if you actully get what you want.

This restaurant has turn out to be one of the best Vietnamese resturants in shorditch, the big plus is that you can bring your own alcohol, the food is simple but very tasted and very well cooked .

Avoid the Special Beef Pho...contained variety of suspicous "beef" cuts. One piece was boiled up rock hard like a rubber ball...liver? The summer prawn spring rolls were dry pale and came with rubbish thick sweet dipping sauce like ketchup for fried chicken strips. First time in years I did not finish eating food at a restaurant. Left and ate at Hanoi Cafe opposite, which was authentic and tasty!

The food is good, but terrible service left a very bad taste in my mouth. The older lady clearly only cared about money as she was constantly rushing to get us to finish and pay the bill. On top of that, they are a cash/debit only restaurant without providing you with any warnings of being one. It's one thing to commit tax fraud, it's another to be so rude about it.

The most disgusting inedible food I've ever had. Everything was sweet, sickly and over powering, definitely not worth over £50.

I used to order from Tay Do regularly over the last few years and always enjoyed the pho and bun dishes. My most recent pho order was disappointing - it came with a small meat portion with only one beef ball, and tough and overcooked rare steak. On top of that, the beansprouts had obviously gone off and were completely inedible, not to mention unsafe to eat. Will not be ordering from here again.

Best restaurant on this street.!! If your on Kingsland road, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try authentic Vietnamese food. Their menu is extensive and the staff are very friendly. The service of the food was quick and the young waitress named Anna was very polite and lovely. She made sure to accommodate us even while the restaurant was very busy. The restaurant is very clean and tidy. This place has a very homely feel with a bright and traditional Vietnamese decor. This is my go to place whenever I want to introduce Vietnamese food to my friends. I definitely recommend the Vietnamese drip coffee but on this occasion as the weather was hot I had the lemonade which quenched my thirst nicely. The food was fresh and the presentation was amazing. I ordered the number 51 which was vermicelli with grilled pork, pickled carrots & radish with a spring roll and Vietnamese dipping sauce and my friend ordered the flat noodles with Beef. The food was not greasy and the taste was delicious. They also have another branch across the road which caters for a larger number of people which is great to know if you have a future celebration. Their menu also have images too so you can have visual of what the meal would look like. Once again I left completely full and cannot praise this place enough. Usually go to Tay Do restaurant (the bigger one) once a month - the food and service is always 10/10! Great value for money and lots of amazing Vietnamese food on the menu

Best Vietnamese in Hoxton! Unbelievably tasty pork that was perfectly crisp. Great flavour and wonderful noodles. Can’t wait to go back
