My favourite Vietnamese restaurant I recommend the fried frog legs and egg fried rise also the noodle dishes and pho is excellent. Love this place I recommend

The food is 5 stars or more, easy — best Vietnamese food I've had in London. It's a sweet, family owned business, so I can't bring myself to rate it less than that. But the unpredictable, unusual hours makes it hard and frustrating to be a loyal customer at times.

The Vietnamese Special baguette is out of this world delicious. It seems to sort of double as a B-day part room for hire so I've never eaten in but both times the elderly couple working the door have been super friendly and efficient.

Bad service, rude staff, bad food.

Friendly staff welcomed us in. They have a large menu and we asked for recommendations to be told that everything was good. We enjoyed all our food and would definitely visit again however one portion of rice would have been enough for two and £2 corkage per person was a bit steep especially if you’re drinking beer.

A family-own restaurant with a large menu of classic and traditional Vietnamese dishes with options for vegetarians. Owners are very friendly. Portions are very generous and full of flavours. I loved the banh cuon! Come here if you want an authentic meal and not bothered about the frills!

Pho was too salty. Also, they want me to pay for the transfer by bank after I ordered already.

Got a take away and the portion was very small which I didn’t realise till I came home. Staff are nice but when I called up to explain about how small the portion was the lady who must be the manager I assume was extremely rude and hung on me. I’m not saying I expect a big portion but for £10 three bits of meat and barely any sauce compared to all the other Vietnamese on mare street it’s no comparison. I wouldn’t go there again.

I would give a 0 if I can. I got only 3 slices of beef and a couple fake cha lua. No pork knuckles or pork blood, the soup is not even red soup. Dont expect savory and good flavor. Avoid this ripoff eatery.

I love this place! Reasonably priced, speedy service and the staff are always lovely. My go-to vietnamese and the one I always recommend to friends.

Exceptionally rude member of staff who, despite the entire restaurant being empty, made us feel uncomfortable for sitting on one of the tables and proceeded to cough in the food she was serving . Very poor welcome. Perhaps avoid coming here . Go to Ha noi pho up the road.

I used to be a local and Hai Ha was a regular haunt - with family and friends. Always knew we would get a warm welcome and really tasty food that was good value. I moved away 4 years go but return regularly. Every visit 'home' has to include a visit to Hai Ha and it still never disappoints.

Ordered the special Vietnamese baguette (banh mi) and a delicious Vietnamese iced coffee. Very tasty and good value at lunchtime. Personally rarely see banh mi with paté and pork floss in London so was happy it was included. Friendly service!

We eat here regularly and the food is always amazing; always fresh with the finest quality ingredients. As we had a milestone birthday, we wanted all our nearest and dearest friends and family to also get a chance to taste the amazing food from here so we asked the owners if they could cater for our event. The owners happily obliged and provided a service that went beyond expectations such as including items such as sauces/garnishes etc. Needless to say, the food went down a treat with nothing left spared as guests went for seconds and thirds! Thank you so much Hai Ha Restaurant. We definitely recommend everyone try your food.

Vietnamese classics done right. Ordered takeaway from here and it hit the spot. The pho was the perfect blend of heartiness and freshness, the richness of the broth balanced out by crisp and fresh vegetables. The summer roles were thick, chewy dough giving way to crunchy veg with chunks of tofu soaking up the tangy peanut sauce. The interior was inviting and relaxed, and the owner was friendly. Highly recommended

I just ordered £64 worth of food for me and my family via Uber Eats, and it was cold, greasy slops! The crispy pancake and softshell crab were so hard that we couldn't chew them. So shockingly bad was the quality of the food that, for the first time ever, I've actually asked Uber Eats to refund my money. Everything is now in the bin! Why should I have to throw away my money like this? It shouldn't be allowed. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE!!!

Everything about this was below average. Service was super unfriendly, food was ok but seriously overpriced and tiny portions (I had clay pot beef). Won’t go back if I can avoid it

The V best Vietnamese restaurant in Hackney! Family run, delicious food and fantastic service. I've never had such amazing Salt + Pepper Squid EVER! I've always had great nights, with various friends / family.... inc Mum, which is always a relief! 😃

Wouldn't recommend, the vermicelli was cold with bits of pork belly, mainly fat, no sauce. No music, just a tv on.

The meun, cutlery, toilets and glasses were dirty. I sent back the chillies as they had mold on them. The waitress seemed annoyed not apologetic. Overpriced, would not recommend.

Friendly staff. Love the food, nice place to meet with friends and have a lovely meal. We have had a very nice meal. I will come back if ever I am in the area.

Starters of spring rolls and salt and pepper soft shell crab were fantastic. The mains however were subpar/inedible - avoid the clay pot prawns in coconut sauce, it came out bright yellow and tasted incredibly weird & bland at the same time & only 4 prawns and a whole heap of onions for a very expensive price of £11.50, what a waste of money. We asked the waitress (who had a great energy) what was in the sauce: coconut milk and fish sauce… couldn’t identify either & not sure of why it was fluorescent in colour! Overall, dishes are more expensive, less tasty and not as good quality than places like Green Papaya down the road.

The delivery was over 90 minutes late. So I can't score that meaningfully. The restaurant did call me to let me know on both occasions and asked if I wanted to cancel. The food was very good except for the rice which was over dried/kept warm, or something as parts of it were a) cold, b) hard.

I thought the Singapore fried noodles were vegetarian, it didn't say anywhere on the menu that they contained meat. When they arrived they contained chicken, pork and prawns. I think you should state that on the menu.

The squid was inedible-not sure why as it wasn’t cheap. Sadly wont order this again. Sorry to lovely PATIENT delivery man though. Seems directions were confusing. Would actually like my money refunded, tbh

I really don't like leaving bad reviews but I feel let down by this place. I used to enjoy the food here and have been getting take aways for years. I received a delivery of my usual favorites and absolutely every element was sub standard. I can let go of one or two but when it's literally everything to the point of being barely edible its a lot of cash to just swallow it. You've lost a long time customer.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy my takeaway, plus there is only one way of paying for your meal.

Love hai ha so much I've tried pretty much all the Vietnamese places on Mare Street and tried every single places pho and this is the best! Also their salt and pepper squid and their prawn summer rolls are delicious and consistent! So nice! Staff are great too so friendly. That's what I want from a restaurant or a take away :)

Really tasty food and friendly service. Went out for lunch with a work colleague. It was difficult to choose from the extensive menu. I had the crispy belly pork, which was cooked to perfection, with tasty and crisp egg fried rice. Service was friendly without being intrusive. Would highly recommend.

Very average / poor takeaway experience. The food was quite oily and the vegetarian pho tasted like it had no stock in it at all - had to add flavouring at home! Go with one of the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area.

Whenever we are in Mare Street, Hackney my partner and I make a beeline for Hai Ha. It is a Vietnamese restaurant with a big smile and a warm welcome. Our waiter suggested that we order different main courses from our usual choices and we took his advice. We are very glad that we did. To start with, however, we shared our usual - the Ground Pork Meat Wrapped in Betel Lalot with vermicelli & salad. It is always scrumptious, the juicy meat is complemented by the luscious leaves in which it is wrapped. The salad is fresh and zingy, especially the fresh bunches of mint. Our main courses were, for me, Slow Cooked Duck in Tamarin Sauce. The duck was succulent and moreish and the sauce had the lovely tang that you get from tamarind. It was a really good foil for the rich duck meat. My partner enjoyed his choice, Wok Fried Sliced Beef with Chili & Lemongrass. We washed it all down with tap water and a bottle of their reasonably priced but very quaffable house red wine. Our waiter was, as always, friendly and welcoming. We cannot wait for our next excuse to eat at Hai Ha.

This restaurant is just across the road from my flat and the food is so consistently good that I have been a few times recently. Try their salt and pepper squid. Seriously good.

This restaurant has been in Hackney for years and USED to sell amazing food. There has to have been a change in ownership because my recent experience was terrible. It was my first dine in experience after pandemic and I had good expectations. Before I even got the food a COCKROACH fell onto the table and my partner had to kill it with a tissue. That should have been the one and only time to leave but we were starving. The food came and it looked good, we hoped it would be amazing but no. Ordered the catfish hotpot, the gravy was obviously microwaved jelly. Ordered PHO and the broth was basically water with little flavouring. Ordered a noodle dish and it was so dry, even worse I found TWO HAIRS in it. & No, not from my own head. We stopped eating after finding that and was polite enough to say to the server woman what happened. The woman just yelled and said oh flies come in from outside to explain the cockroach. Like that was an excuse???? Pretty sure we know the difference between insects. & just didn’t hear what we had to say. She didn’t charge us but I mean neither of us was going to pay anyway. This happened 2days ago and I am currently heaving over a toilet because of that experience. Never again.

I love eating at the Hai Ha (in non-pandemic times). So great to be able to order my favourite dishes for delivery. The tofu summer rolls and veggie spring rolls were particularly fantastic :-)

LAST TIME WE ORDER; They have the best salt and pepper squid but all the meat was vile… old, dry, chewy and did I mention dry and chewy and old tasting… could not stomach, I have fear!

The food was really bad, I threw most away. Spring rolls were like they had been cooked multiple times, tofu was undercooked and soggy, hardly and noodles in my noodle dish. Very odd! Won’t order from here again, sorry.

We were very disappointed with the meal. The crispy noodles were soggy, in blob of gelatine that looked like glue. The chicken wasn't eatable... It was hard and chewy, probably defrosted. We had to throw the whole dish away. The prown dish was also in this kind of tasteless gelatine. The started didn t have everything that was listed in the menu. We won t order again
