Food was authentic and delicious, however portions are on the smaller side. We had to order the same dish couple times as it wasn’t enough. Portions are for 1 person only and not for sharing with a second person. Overall good service and location. Easily accessible.

The venue is nice, great staff and service good. Felt a little rushed at time with the push to take the orders for the starters, mains, and deserts. The lamb chops and chilli chickens starters highly recommend. The talapia fish mains with the malabar paratha must have. It's was nice and spicy with the fish perfect. The desert I had was the red carrot halva with kulfi was not good as it looked and I thought it would be. The kulfi was yum the halva not my thing. Pistachio cake was great as it looked. Rich and tasty. Very recommend. The rum Chai cocktail was a delight. You can easily have several of those. The Indian Chai was surprisingly nice. Overall a good place for a meal.

I have used Tawa Kitchen a few times with my family & office friends. The food & atmosphere are great. Tawa food has never disappointed us. Some of the notable food items which we liked are Mysore Lamb, Chicken Chettinad, Nellore Fish Curry, Dal Makhani. And if you are not sure just ask their staff. Tawa staff are very friendly and caring. Hope you have a great time at Tawa Kitchen!

I placed an order for five distinct items for dinner. One of the worst tasting things I've ever had is the biryani, which is actually just tomato rice 😂 The other items I got, however, were excellent. Lamb curry, coriander Nan, chilli chicken, and onion Bhajji & couple of desserts.

I’ve eaten Tawa’s food both in-house and at home, and it’s always good. I’m docking them two stars, though, for the pitiful portion of rice that arrived - this third of a box of boiled rice (pictured) cost £3.60. Come on, Tawa - rice is not expensive. You can do better.

I visited after hearing about the place from a friend, there were barely any customers, we are the first, had ordered paneer thali and a chicken wrap , the portion for the thali was not proportionate, half roti and a tiny bowl of rice , we had to order more roti and rice so we don't waste the Dal and paneer. MANGO LASSI was a disappointment as we can not taste mango due to the overpowering of cardamom and mint leaf garnish. Might visit for dinner to see if anyone different. Taste - not Authentic Price - average Service - could be better as they charge 12.5% service

I decided to pop in as a last minute decision as I'd not been here before. The staff were very accommodating considering it was Saturday evening and I was quickly found a table. I opted for the onion and aubergine bhaji and Persian pomegranate chole, along with the mango lassi which was the perfect accompliment to my meal. Service was quick and the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this place if you are passing. I will definitely be back soon and bringing my partner so he can also experience this fine food.10/10

Almost hidden around the back of a large building on Station Road, Tawa have the advantage of being away from busy traffic, yet close to the main Cambridge station. I booked a table for two there on the recommendation of a friend - who really knows his food! - and thoroughly agree with him: this place is producing excellent cuisine. Given the mild evening, we initially sat outside for drinks, nibbles and starters, before heading inside for the main course. There are plenty of dishes on the menu you will recognise, some with a 'twist, and quite a few that are different to the norm but sound delicious! It's worth noting that vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters are well catered for. Possibly my favourite from tonight is their Indian variation of a Scotch Egg: superb! Pricing is good and service attentive but not overbearing. Definitely recommended.

We went to Tawa Kitchen for my birthday dinner. We wanted to enjoy some nice Indian food and based on reviews and ratings we decided to try at this place. We made the right choice the food was delicious. The palce was very busy as expected for a 4.9 rating resturant on a Friday evening. The service of the stuff was really appreciable. Although it was very busy everyone was considerate enough to attend the tables and very quick to serve. We were served by Swati. She is friendly and very humble. She also suggested us the signature dish of Tawa Kitchen. The chicken biriyani was awesome. Overall we had a wonderful experience at Tawa Kitchen and will definitely visit again when we visit Cambridge the next time. I wish Swati and everyone at Tawa Kitchen a great success.

We ate at Tawa Indian Restaurant in Cambridge, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Located conveniently near the rail station in a modern building away from the road. The service at Tawa is great, with attentive staff providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our party of four felt well taken care of throughout the evening. The staff's willingness to offer recommendations was useful for one of our party who wanted flavour but not too much spice. Tawa boasts an good selection of Indian dishes that go beyond the ordinary. They have about 50/50 vegetarian and meat choices with traditional flavours and innovative twists, catering to a variety of tastes. From the appetisers to the main courses, each dish was nicely presented. Our bill came to a reasonable £120 for four people, including starters, mains, drinks, and service. Considering the quality of the food, the pleasant ambiance, and the excellent service, I found it to be a fair value and a memorable meal. If there is one comment it is that the table sizes are a bit cramped and so we had to juggle the space a bit. Also the restaurant has a modern, industrial feel which is is fine, but is more suited to a quick meal that a place to relax for the whole evening. Overall, Tawa Indian Restaurant in Cambridge is a gem for those seeking delicious Indian cuisine. Its proximity to the rail station, combined with top-notch service and an exciting menu, makes it a good choice for a meal with friends or family.

Had a lovely dining experience at Tawa Kitchen. The Chettinad chicken paired with paratha was warm and scrumptious. Their portions are generous without being overwhelming, ensuring you enjoy your meal without feeling uncomfortably full. Still, I can easily split one portion into two or three potions for myself. Wow - never have I had such beautifully prepared curries. We have travelled in Nepal, India and other countries experiencing their cuisine. This was stunning. Every dish was so beautifully presented. So so very tasty. We had been recommended by a guy in one of the local shops - he was so right! I can’t think of a meal that just kept being so incredible. Not just that though - we had travelled with our 8 month border terrier puppy who they allowed into the restaurant. He just slept by our feet the whole time. Food is fantastic undoubtedly. The reason for a four rather than five star review is the noise level indoors when it gets busy. I have been to busier restaurants but here somehow the sound just reverberates and leaves you with a migraine. It’s because everything is glass and metal (including chairs and tables) and the sound just bounces off rather than gets absorbed. So I highly recommend the food on either a take away/delivery or in the restaurant in quieter times. In busier times, the noise really takes away from the experience which is unfortunate as the food is lovely.

It was our first visit to Tawa and friends had recommended it. We arrived on time for our table but the previous diners were still there - I suspect the restaurant tries to offer too many sittings. We were seated ten minutes late - and then waited another twenty minutes for someone to take our order. When the food arrived, something peculiar happened. We were sitting at a table next to a wooden room divider near the kitchen, and instead of coming round to our table to deliver the plates, everything was handed to us, one by one, through this room divider! It was comical, but also annoying because, as the person sitting nearest and therefore being handed the hot dishes one by one, I nearly burned my hand. This happened for all courses, so it wasn't just a one-off. Most peculiar. Thankfully the dishes were cleared in the conventional way... The food was very tasty, but the portions were small. My husband's lamb dish had only two pieces of lamb in it, and the bowls of rice - for £3.50 each - were not large enough for one person. And when the bill came, a service charge of 12.5% had been added. I appreciate that this is discretionary, but when did the normal rate for a table of four rise from 10% to 12.5%? Perhaps it was a surcharge for the unusual through-the-divider method of delivery. So not quite what we had expected, and I doubt we will return.

Service started off good with an attentive waitress. But when it got busier we got forgot about despite the waitresses looking over as they passed by. The starters were lovely so we were looking forward to the main. As south asians we had a particular expectation of how the food would look and taste. However, after the starters it all went downhill. The curry- lamb mysore looked and tasted burnt. Where were the onions and peppers and the gravy? It was dried up and chewy. As an asian I have never seen a curry like that apart from my dad's who can't cook anyway. The naan was the worst. It went cold as soon as it hit our table and it didn't have that yeasty taste that fresh naan has. Even packet naan from the shops had a better taste. Salad was bulked out with lots of diced carrot and mango lassi was a measly portion. The lamb chops were just tasteless and fatty. Then they had the audacity to slap on 12.5% service charge after having waited and waited for someone to bring us the desserts menu and the bill. Service charge for what exactly? Never ending waiting? Needless to say we got up to pay and asked for the service charge to be taken off. Avoid at all costs u less you have no concept of authentic asian food.

Awesome value and healthy hearty food for lunch. Will come back for lunch and probably dinner soon and often, even just for takeaway :) The convenient location is a plus, though there are many other higher end or family style Indian restaurants in town. The chaat is so much larger than the waitress’s gesture suggested. Definitely not an “extra” as stated by the menu either. I was ready to go for a pricy snack but received big plate , there must be a can of chickpeas😅. Very good value. I am stuffed. This alone can be a meal, and it tastes wonderful. Creamy chickpeas and crispy kale and noodles. And the sweet sour tamarid chutney sauce tastes wonderful with a hint of spiciness. The side salad is also substantial. Instead of a few green leaves on the side, it comes as a bowl tightly packed with shredded veggies, cherry tomatoes, radishes, and pomegranate seeds! The citrusy dressing is very refreshing. Probably the best “side salad” or “green salad” I’ve had. ❤️ The lamb wrap has a good balance between meat and veggie. Mildly spiced. The wrap is soft and stretchy… though I hope it can be toasted a little warmer. Will try the express thali and curry and biryani next time. Seems to be a quite popular lunch place for those working in the nearby offices. The stews on the stove look nice. —- 2nd visit Invited a friend to try the dinner here. The portion is surprisingly smaller than lunch, and my favorite salad doesn’t seem to be here. We had a lamb and a chicken dish. Following recommendation I ordered the more spicy chicken chenttinad—only a warm hint for me but tasty. Tariwala gosht appears similar. It has a more pronounced cardamom flavor. Thepla is quite rare in restaurants, pliable and goes well with the food. The flavor isn’t as strong as the ingredient suggests. Butter naan comes warm :) crispy outside and soft inside. Not too greasy. Kulfi has a small amount of pistachio and more rose petals. Not too sweet. Cardamom gives a complex flavor to it. I probably have never tried Kulfi in American Indian restaurants, so the recommended flavor is good—mango one might taste like frozen mango lassi. Ambiance-wise, some background music could help. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable.

The ambiance is very average with an emphasis on a non lively or pleasant atmosphere. The food came out far too quickly, meaning it felt & tasted like a generic Uncle Ben's dish, which had been sitting left over from the lunch menu. The food wasn't temperature hot, and was even cold in places. Very bland and not at all what I'd expect from a restaurant that pertains to be a good Indian restaurant. The only 2 parts that felt freshly prepared were a mango lassy & a naan, (though the naan was a bit greasy). The pilau rice wasn't even pilau. It was basmati with a sprinkling of micro veg in it. To top this disastrous meal off, was an automatic addition of a 12.5% service charge!!! I cannot recommend this restaurant at all for anyone who values decent & authentic Indian dishes. Simply lower than average! Avoid at all costs!

Shockingly expensive for what you got and for the quality. 3 persons a main course with rice and a drink £75 with a 12.5% service charge automatically added, for service which was basic. The food was lukewarm and therefore cold as soon as it hit the cold plates. To call the vegetable pilau rice, pilau rice was a not worthy as it was basically boiled basmati with some cooked vegetables added. The main food was ok otherwise but nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the cost, extremely disappointing given the high ratings of other diners.

Overall, this was a decent Indian meal. It was a bit overpriced especially for starters but the food was decent. A few comments: - the font on the menu was a bit too small which made it hard to read but appreciate the allergen breakdown on the other side of the menu - there was an indication of dietary requirements on the menu but the vegan V and vegetarian V were too similar so it was hard as a vegan to identify the vegan dishes - the food was clearly pre-cooked rather than fresh (indicated by server) - Persian pomegranate chole only had 3 pomegranate seeds and didn’t taste any different from a normal Indian chole, and was spicy despite no indication it would be spicy on the menu - chaat was good, good portion and tasted nice

This was a bit of a mixed-bag night. First of all, there is no background music so you could hear the constant slamming of the front and kitchen doors. Our Lamb dish arrived cold which we sent back to be heated up.

I recently visited Tawa restaurant and had a great experience and definitely I would recommend it. The ambiance was lovely and the staff were friendly (here I would appreciate Mr. Jeffin) The Menu had a good variety of indian dishes to choose from. Thanks

We have eaten at Tawa three times in the past two years -- and each time we have the same reaction: very good Indian food and very poor service. Tawa seems to rely on young servers who use handheld devices that don't work very well...

Not just your ordinary curry house. Went with my daughter when we were staying nearby, delicious meal, and the choices and flavours were, for once not the same as every other Indian restaurant. Still briefly the same ingredients, but clearly distinctive preparation

Went there after reading reviews and it didn't disappointed me. One of the best restaurant with great taste. The food was delicious and tender. Recommended 👍👍

There was no one dining when I entered the restaurant around 5p.m. on a Monday. I did not particularly like having to order and pay on my phone by pulling out my card and entering the info. The food was good!

The food tasted good but it wasn't fresh. They have an open kitchen, and we could see that they are just warming up all the food. Who knows how old the food actually is. Our food took a matter of seconds, which was great, but our stomachs felt the pain afterwards.

Really bland, watery food. Not much flavour, I’ve had much better Indian food at other places. Murgh Tikka Massala was like Heinz tomato soup with some cooked chicken in. Really disappointed.

Travelled from Leicester and found this gem of a restaurant. The food is simply the best with a beautiful fitout and great service. The owners spent time talking to us and you can really see the passion they have for their food. Back in Cambridge...

Our second visit. Food was as good as the first time. I had a really interesting twist on a chicken biryani. The service was friendly although at times it seemed as though we were being rather rushed. Still overall another nice evening.
