Extremely slow service. Took a hour longer than expected and food was ice cold. Never ordering again. Don't recommend!

This was the worst food I could have ever had. We ordered a mixed platter which was supposed to be with fish, but it came with meat in which the meat was raw. Secondly, we ordered spicy vindaloo with chicken in it. It was so bitter and had no taste at all. It was just tomatoes and red chilies purée with chicken in it. There was no taste at all. We also ordered chicken biryani, which was so bad. I would never recommend anyone to order food from here.

Beware! Our family, spread across three different addresses, will never order from them again. After we complained about missing sides in previous orders, we believe they tainted our food as retribution. The meal arrived overcooked, tasted strange, and we all fell ill the next day. This could be considered food poisoning, which is a serious crime, and they’re lucky we didn’t involve the police. We had been loyal customers for over five years, but lately, they kept leaving out sides from our starters. For example, we’d order four starters but only receive two side salads and one small pot of sauce instead of the full order. We even warned them in our instructions that if this continued, we’d stop ordering. Unfortunately, after the last experience, we’re done with them for good.

Tried to order egg fried rice on just eats but the order was rejected by the restaurant as they needed a £15 or £20 minimum for them to deliver, not convenient for people looking to get food delivered for a cheaper price, Very much disappointed my friend. Should’ve at least mentioned about this on the app?

First time with this restaurant- wasn’t tasty. Won’t use again

Very disappointed with the food. Used to be good years ago, now overpriced and average food. Got the order wrong too. Chicken was rubbery. Will not go again. Edit: @Ahmed, you only got one of the starters wrong, but the rest of the food was also subpar. After placing the order, I phoned the restaurant and spoke to a gentleman to say I would be late for collection and they accepted. Despite this, the food was sitting for over 1.5 hours, and the Puri was very soggy. I used to be a regular at your takeaway, but I don't think I will return again. If you have made any changes recently, you need to reverse them.

As overseas visitors who have visited three very good Indian restaurants in the UK, this was our favourite. All food was fantastic - highly recommend Chicken 69 as a starter.

I recently tried the Biryani from Royal Spice Restaurant, and I must say it was an absolute delight. The rich aroma and the perfectly balanced spices made it a truly flavorful experience. The rice was cooked to perfection, and the meat was tender and succulent. The accompanying sauce was the perfect complement, adding an extra layer of flavor that made each bite even more enjoyable. I picked up my order and enjoyed it in the comfort of my own home, and it was still hot and delicious. Royal Spice definitely knows how to make an outstanding Biryani. Highly recommended!

I have lived in Cambridge since 2012 and I only discover this gem now?!?!?!?

Just popped in to order some food as I am working overnight just round the corner. Got a very friendly welcome and ordered the Beef Mangsho Bhuna with coconut rice and a peshwari naan. The bhuna is soooooo tender with gorgeous spicing, the rice is richly coconut infused and the naan is packed full of sweet almond flavour. Even the onion salad is balanced and fine and the extra condiments are all really good, especially the lime pickle that is stroking your tongue with flavour instead of overwhelming heat. Absolutely recommend them and shall be back very soon !

Chicken dansak,onion rice with papadoms and onion bhaji,good size portion,lovely rice and bjaji but the curry was a little bland,abit disappointing really as I was looking forward to a good curry ..

The food here is delicious. It is now our go-to place for a takeaway.

Last Saturday March 16th I ordered a delivery, no salad was delivered for the starters even though I ticked the with salad options, phoned them up and they offered to deliver the salad after some confusion with establishing my order, if I had accepted the delivery and waited for the salad the starters would have been cold so thats 3 starters and no salad equals 3 pissed off people, so I was offered a free item on my next order even though I was reluctant to order from them again , today I have ordered and mentioned the issue with my last order and not to forget the salad this time and tried to inform him one of his colleagues offered me a free item as a good will gesture so the not so happy chap on the phone stated to me he would give me 10% off on my order which I automatically receive on checkout unbeknown to him obviously , so how does he think he's doing me a favour for something I'm automatically entitled to as one of my online rewards, chaps the customer is always right so read your orders and additional requests if you want to keep your customers. I feel you have not rewarded me for your mistake.

Found this place after we looked on the internet small place think it’s more of a takeaway with a small seating area food was hot and the service was quick very nice place and very happy to return good customer service and a very reasonable price little gem out the way

Large menu and very tasty food (inc starters such as onion bhaji and chicken tika as well as mains) with good portions. But why says raisins in the Peshwari nan when there are clearly none? No alcohol on the menu, but you can bring your own (so an even better value meal!).

Naga chicken rated ok, the chicken wasn’t fresh and a bit overdone. I asked for some mint sauce and mango chutney which was very small and didn’t taste fresh. I ordered pilau rice which was fragrant and good. Overall for just under £18 for chicken and rice take out not very impressive. It’s a shame because it’s local to me and I would used their service again.

When we showed up the sign said closed, but after looking through the window like a lost puppy they realized their mistake and flipped the sign over. Got the Vindaloo, Rice, and Chili & Cheese Naan. It was hot, both temperature and spice. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have nightmares today. Worth it. Would go again, might try the regular cheese naan next time.

Just had our first food from the Royal Spice, delivered to our home. Not a huge order but the food was delicious, hot, fresh and tasty. It was delivered well within the time promised and we will most definitely be ordering from them again. Delighted to find such a good Indian who deliver to Girton

Daal makhani is a punjabi dish where black lentils are simmered. either please change the name of your dish where you add butter to yellow lentils (that sounds funny to North Indians) or please mention in the description whatever twist you’ve added :) And, I ordered paneer curry where Paneer = rubber. Overall, my experience was hilariously bad with this restaurant.

Arrived today 5pm and found doors locked :( Nobody answered phone either.

First time visiting, found korma a bit watery/tasteless, barely any chips in a large brown bag. Just a very average meal.

A small, understated restaurant with a broad menu and excellent tasting food.

Food is nice but the Staff is not. Once he asked us to go because minimum order per person was 15 pound’s and told us to order a take take away and when we Ordered a take away the total Amount was more than 30. I didn’t get the logic behind that. Not welcoming we had to wait for 10 min to be seated in an empty restaurant. And then other 10 mins to take our order. There priority is not the guest inside the restaurant it’s the online delivery. Very disappointed with the staff although the food was good.

Don’t come here for big groups, they didn’t tell us that our group of 10 was going to be split across three separate tables when we booked. They then rather rudely remarked that they couldn’t move the tables so we could eat as one group so we left. Massive inconvenience.

Ordered at 8:30pm. It’s now 10pm and still no delivery. Tried calling for the last 10mins and no answer. They shut at 10pm so I assume we won’t be getting dinner tonight. Terrible service, do not order from them

How rude, we ordered at 9:15pm, they called us saying they were out of one item we changed it, OK, great, then two minutes later they cancel our order... I called and they said they just closed which is BS. Their website says they close at 1030pm. Yes, very true. I attached a copy of the JustEat cancellation to prove it.

Omg. I can't believe this place didn't have a line around the block. Malayan Chicken with coconut rice was flavorful with no heat. My husband had Chicken Dhamsak...spicy but not so hot I also couldn't enjoy it. Not blow your head off hot just flavor. The best!!!

Had dinner here on the 29th Jan 2023. Overall great experience with well priced and portion dishes. Would recommend the lamb sagwala and okra bindi.. so delicious!! Friendly staff and great ambience. Highly recommend if you are craving for authentic Indian food!

Just demolished a lovely curry from Royal spice. All different items ordered for the family, everyone enjoyed their dish.was a bit worried as never ordered from here before, or used food hub, their delivery partner , but spot on time and nice delivery driver .Will order again

Really rude experience, delivery gave me no sauce with my starter Bajis - called them up and got someone really pushy telling me they don't come with sauce unless I'd phoned and asked for it, pointed out the description on the site literally says with sauce like every other Indian takeaway. I asked for a refund on the Bajis only, they refused and said I had to order again from them and they'd add some for free, I declined and they hung up on me. Called back, 'manager' was also rude and pushy but said the refund was done and hung up, its been 20 days now and no refund. I have no idea why they wouldn't choose the easy option of good customer service but please take this as a warning not to bother with this place - I shall not again.

Before going to this place I always think I'm not a big fan of Indian food. But I must say the food we tried was very good. Pretty small restaurant but very clean and nice vibe. Very decent price (~£15 per person for us). Will definitely return for more delicious Indian cuisine! --------- edit: 2nd time visit This time we were told that there is a minimum amount (£15) per person for the whole table, which is a bit weird and I never came across this at other restaurants before. The shrimp curry we ordered was also not as tasty as other dishes, but the lamb is great. 3 stars for this time.

I placed an order with them via just eat but it never arrived. I called the restaurant twice and they said it will be with you shortly and finally when I called again at 10pm, they cancelled my order after an argument. They didn't realise that perhaps someone might have guests over and they need to get the food. Pathetic people and no decent behaviour.

Food was good, but would expect more for the price, and the prices on the menus did not match the prices on the receipt at the end of the meal (Edit: I am referring to the menus provided once we had sat down inside the restaurant, not an external display menu)

The food was nice but pricey for what it was. The prices on the menu did not match up with what we were charged (the curry I ordered was listed as £10.95 on the menu given to me at the table but I was instead charged £13.95). I understand prices may change periodically but this needs to be reflected in the menu.

Wow what delicious food and a great host. Don't be put off by how small the place is, much better than a large venue with a super busy kitchen. Defo coming back

So glad we trusted the other Google reviews and ended up here! We got the lamb biryani, chicken masala, vegetable chaat, and royal naan. Though we walked in right as they were opening (I'll blame the jet lag), we were greeted promptly and well taken care of. Overall, would certainly recommend stopping by Royal Spice!

Very decent place indeed. Doesn't look much from the outside and it's pretty tiny inside, but the food was top notch. Definitely recommend.

We had the chicken masala and tikka khimbi dupiaza. Was very tasty, naan bread also was surprisingly good.

Rubbish. They messed up our order and it tasted awful. There was no spice! No flavour! And the Saag Aloo was blended into mush for some reason? The only half decent thing was the bombay potatos but still average. The Peshwari naan had the weirdest texture too. Honestly, just don't even try. If you're craving an Indian and next door is shut, don't even bother just wait until the next day when it's open again. Tesco microwave curry is nicer than this.

This is just what you would expect for a decent Indian meal. They weren't trying to be something they arent, they are an indiant restaurant and takeaway it's not artisan food. The food was perfect, the restaurant was empty and spotlessly clean (takeaway orders continually coming in) the food was reasonably priced and my god was there some variety on offer. Also my good was it delicious I can still taste it five days on. When I come back to Cambridge next I will go here again. The house beef bhuna is to die for. It doesn't have an alcohol license but being honest drinking would have detracted from the brilliant food. You want a drink there's a pub next door afterwards. YOU MUST TRY THIS INDIAN.

I am sorry to say this but I was disappointed with the take away I had tonight. The rice was bland, the chicken tikka masala didn’t have much taste. The best thing was the onion bajee but I expected it to have a small bag of salad and some mint sauce which I have always had before when I have ordered from other Asian takeaways especially for the price. Not the best and certainly not the cheapest I’ve had.

Ordered Staff Curry. Amazing sauce, flavour, spice and heat; all cooked on bone; best I’ve experienced in UK but, virtually zero meat and definitely scraping the barrel. £13.95 it isn’t. Shame, really.

Fresh, clean food, fairly priced. Very friendly staff. Owner is very much present and is also very helpful and friendly, helped us with the local area very much. Made sure all dietary aspects were met. We had the new butter chicken dish and egg fried rice! Shame we couldn't find time to pop in again before leaving for the next place. If we find ourselves in cambridge again we will be back for some more delicious food. Would recommend!

It’s impossible to get seated, every single time I go they say they are only doing take out that night or are fully booked when the place is clearly empty. One time I even called ahead to check before walking over to confirm there was seating and when I got there they pretended as if I didn’t call ahead to confirm they could seat me and my guest. I have had take out and the food is nice, but the service is really lacking.

I visited this branch by chance , as I visited Cambridge town with my family from Uxbridge. I met Mamoun, and ordered 2 Large Birianis , they both come with the traditional veg curry . I wanted to say a huge thank you and the quality was next to none. More so his service was outstanding , listened to my request in wanting the food extra hot ( temperature wise) Thanks again.

Try Khusboo Lamb! Omg I love spicy and flavorful food! So great food. The lamb was so fresh! I just stopped in this place seeing it is Indian Bangladeshi. VERY IMPRESSED

This joint restaurant and takeaway has a cosy interior with friendly staff who regularly check in on you to make sure everything is going well. From our experience, Royal Spice well deserves 5 stars. All the portions were nice and large and each dish was very reasonably priced. Excellent variety of options for vegans and vegetarians, and it is clearly indicated what allergens are in which dish. Overall, everything we ate tasted superb: Onion bhaji - soft and flaky almost pastry-esque exterior with a gently saucy interior and mild flavour. This starter was stunning. Puri - thin, soft bread lightly fried on the outside but not crisp. Really complements each bite of the main dishes and as an extra to some classic basmati rice. Sabzi Dhansak - my partner's favourite of all of the dishes. Rich and hearty dish with strong spices that really satisfy the palate. Slightly spicy. Sabzi Rogan Josh - my favourite, likewise rich and hearty dish, but with its own distinct flavours. Both dishes were clearly slow cooked as all the vegetables were lovely and soft. Paneer Jalfrezi - the least flavoursome of all the dishes with big chunky vegetables and sliced chilli peppers. Mild and subtle flavours but very nice.

Had a terrible vegan dinner in Norwich, despite not being in the mood. I’ve been afraid that would ruin my appetite for good. But this place managed to restore my love for food. Yes, yes, it’s that good.

I had tarka dhal,staff curry and 3 roti s.. delivered localy. Dhal was sort of ok( dont get me wrong i m being modest) but staff curry was a total joke.specially priced at £13.50. 3 halves of a potatoe i drumstick and a cut of rib cage with no meat in a red fiery sauce Total bill was £27.50. Roti wasnt even roti. They sent nan bread instead. Disrespectful and unacceptable Never again and i m talking about it.

Oh man! What great food. Had Bombay Butter chicken and royal rice. It was a lot for one, breakfast left overs. Chicken was tender and the sauce was slightly spicy, just right. Rice was also very tasty.

Sorry for the 2 stars but the meal was not up to the usual standard. This may have been due to the restaurant being busy and staff shortages but when you pay top dollar, and curry has become very expensive these days over £40 for 3, you expect good quality. The chicken tikka in the rogan was dry and tough and the sauce was thin and oily. Also there was no salad or sauce with the onion bhaji.

The food was nice. But some items like curry and shashlik need more salt and sour. Rice was awesome. First time I’m trying chilli garlic rice. Rice was spicy. Really enjoyed. Also the restaurant was very small. Only 4 table’s. Need to improve the seating spaces and also in the menu drinks was vey shorter. Only 3-4 drinks available. Customer service was awesome. Staffs are tearing the customers very politely. Overall nice restaurant.

Delightful curry in a peaceful setting. I had a new dish for me, shatkora daal with special rice, and a peshwari naan and Rubicon mango; they were all tasty and freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and were happy to give advice. This place is small and has simple décor; look past that to find this, your new favourite place. Vegetarian options available (dedicated sections on the menu); menu was clearly labelled, with annotations about gluten, meat and nuts per-dish, as well as heat.
