Tate Cafe in Liverpool

Pretty poor, ordered tea and an earl grey tea £2.90 each. Expected a pot but given a mug with a tea strainer. Both teas too strong and undrinkable. Staff indifferent at best

One of the young women serving was sulky to the point of rudeness. Everything was too much trouble . Hospitality isn’t her vocation

Awful, frozen jam rock hard, frozen cream and frozen scone. Just awful. The coffee , a latte had no taste. I left everything. Not cheap £7.10 for coffee and scone.

Nice place to sit, having a coffee, overlooking Albert Dock after viewing the art and installations at the Tate. Coffee was good, as was the service. Prices reasonable.

Stopped in the cafe for coffee and cake after visiting the Tate galleries. Coffee was the best I've had in Liverpool and the cakes were really good. The cafe is large, airy and well lit. I'd certainly visit again.

Bafflingly slow service. Coffees seemed to take an hour to be made by nonchalant, up themselves staff. Audible complaints in the lengthy queue. Cakes were mediocre. Only positive was the drawing activities available for kids.

there was nothing "stand out" about the Tate cafe - it just did what it said on the tin........odd in a way, most cafes there is something worth commenting on one way or the other

Looking for somehwere that done just coffee and cake we came across this place, it was clean, polite staff, decent coffee and nice selection of cakes etc.

Quiet, clean but drinks and food offerings were nothing special at all, possibly 3pm was a bit late, but I would have hoped for better.

A really lovely bright dock and waterside location and super coffee. But what has happened to the Food Menu ..... since opening fully after Covid there just isn't that great menu that there was before and you simply have a choice of Soup and a Roll or a selection of a few cakes. Any chance Tate of getting the Chef back in soon!

Cafe area is open and bright. Leads off the gift shop area. We just had hot drinks but light sandwiches and cakes are available.

We were hungry and visiting the Tate, but they had nothing to offer except for soup, so were forced to go elsewhere. Shame

All museums have cafes these days. Some good, some less so. This is one of the better ones All the food looked good and the drinks on offer were well prepared. Friendly staff too!

Visited the restaurant ( I'd call it a cafe ) 2 coffees £6:30 I fancied a scone but the were really small & not sure how how much they were ! Only one bite bit too ! Coffees were nice & hot.

Lovely cafe. Great views. Good service. Music can be weird! Toilets downstairs/lift. Visited 3 times - highly recommended.

Disappointing. Drove seventy miles or so from Leeds to see the Don McCullin exhibition, only to be told ‘we’re not doing sandwiches today’. Lunch was a packet of crisps and a glass of wine. Outstanding exhibition though.

A fabulous place to stop for great coffee, a well deserved lunch or afternoon tea when visiting the Tate Gallery or just enjoying the delights of Albert Dock. This visit i had all three - Coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, brilliant.

Superb coffee & cake on day out in Liverpool. Have been here before, but yesterday stood out not only for the cake, but for the friendly staff & cleanliness which is a concern now due to Covid. A huge electronic board displayed that the kitchen was not in operation which was visible as soon as you walked in, so no one was left disappointed at reaching the order point. We ordered a flat white, latte & 2 slices of the banana & cinnamon cake…oh boy it was delicious!! Coffee was hot and not too bitter. We stayed for a second cup it was that nice. Will definitely be back, maybe for hot food next time. Well done to all the staff, a very well run establishment.

I enjoyed a very tasty breakfast at the Tate Cafe. Newly added to the menu, roasted tomatoes and almond pesto on delicious toasted bread was the best dish I’ve had recently. We used the table app for ordering, which was effective and service was friendly. Coffee arrived hot and strong. Definitely a great experience.

SLightly disappointing menu and drinks not as good as we thought they would be. Staff friendly but did not seem toknow their own menu too well.

A friend and I visited yesterday to see the Lucien Freud exhibition (fabulous) and popped in for lunchFelt safe and Covid-19 measures for ordering were easyI had the vegan wrap and a cappuccino with oat milk and she had the veggie quiche and saladAll tasty, fresh and colourful and the staff were friendly helpful and efficientSuch a nice little cafe, more vegan options would be welcomed to make it more accessible for everyone

We stopped for a coffee and were very disappointed with the total lack of customer service. Our coffee arrived and was barely tepid i asked for some sweetener as none was provided and had drunk my coffee by the time it arrived the waiter said he had forgotten about us but never mind .

It was such a shame that the Tate simply expects everyone to have a QR Scan Reader to order and pay for food and drink.Even after explaining that we didn't have the reader and were unfamiliar with this system we were left to struggle and despite signalling for assistance nothing happened.All we wanted was a butty and coffee. So many other places other the traditional order at the table by waiting staff ....... so after struggling to order nothing we upped and left. So come on Tate don't presume that your customers are all technophobes.

Walking around the Royal Albert Dock during the Christmas period was really good, the illuminations and general festive atmosphere was really good, passing Tate Cafe was both sad and good, sad in the fact it was closed due to the pandemic but good in that the wonderful success of the vaccines will see it reopening soon like every other pub,bar and restaurant in the Royal Albert Dock complex, I love visiting Tate Cafe when I'm in this area ,great coffee,really nice staff and the views superb ,nothing better than sitting outside with a steaming hot cup of coffee chilling out ,so here's to April when the hospitality sector starts to reopen and its comforting to know we're seeing the beginning of end of this pandemic.

Amazing view over Albert Dock, not too busy, cakes and scones are superb and tea and coffees exceptional. Our favourite stop now that Artisane has closed.

The cafe is currently only open if you have tickets for the museum. This means it feels very nice and spacious. Nice selection of cakes that cater for different dietary requirements though on the pricey side. Good hot chocolate.

We called in for a coffee while in the area. The coffee was good, I had a Danish pastry at £1.50. Slices of cake were much more expensive, looked good though. A jazz trio was playing while we were there on a Sunday morning. There were activities for children, toys etc as well as the usual crayons.

We stopped as a three generations for coffee / hot chocolate after looking round Tate Liverpool. Nice coffee (strong!) in lovely earthenware cups and comfy sofas overlooking the Albert Dock. Nice view! Little 'un said it was a very good hot chocolate! Prices for just sarnies on the menu looked pricey - £8-10 each, although we didn't have any.

Called in today for breakfast with friends. Lovely cooked breakfast, very tasty and delicious. Well worth the money. Highly recommend. Lovely cafe and lovely staff.

This cafe actually sells restaurant quality food in a simple and rustic style. Extremely affordable prices (circa £10) - although small portions, the menu is small so they can focus on quality. Also, with any adult meal kids eat free which brings the price down further!

Llegó a tomar un café rápido y un aperitivo con la familia. Tenía café de filtro que claramente se había hecho hace mucho tiempo y estaba completamente derramado. También tenía un bollo que estaba seco que se estaba endureciendo en el exterior. Ambos ejemplos muy pobres de calidad. Las otras bebidas y pasteles comprados por la familia estaban bien pero demasiado caros.

Wonderful calm atmosphere - very airy cafe with sympathetic decor. We just popped in for morning coffee and pastry and it offered very good value for money.

I had thought we might venture out of the Tate to eat between our booked exhibition and looking at the other galleries, but we didn't have all that much time... and the menu met our needs (one of us needs very plain food - on this occasion pre pack wholemeal egg mayonnaise sandwiches, the other likes an interesting veggie dish - gnocchi with squash and blue cheese in this case) Nice ceramics, pleasant atmosphere, normal sort of prices for a museum/gallery café. Coffee was interesting - distinctive, I liked it, others might not, and far too unusually, they did have the skimmed milk that I prefer. Service was very straightforward, they weren't all that busy and I didn't have much time to wait for my food.

Called in to show our American cousins the gallery, some interesting displays. After browsing in the shop we went into the cafe. We just had a drink each, coffees an teas. They were most impressed with the views and the layout.

This is a lovely cafe. With large windows and a nice view there is plenty of light. The colourful decor in the large space works very well. The staff are friendly, the cakes and coffee really good. If I lived in Liverpool it would become a favourite place to visit.

During our day out, we decided to visit the cafe for a quick drink. Service was friendly and quick. The Hot Chocolate I drank was rich and nicely executed. Would come here again for food next time.

It was lovely to sit at a table outside after having walked around the Tate and look out over the docks. However paying £2.80 for a can of coke and a packet of crisps can make you think that you are in fact in London. The cakes looked tasty, I was very nearly tempted by a flapjack, the £2.99 price tag for what was less than a square 2 inches...not so much. Worth going in for a sit down after walking around but definitely not a stand alone visit.

There are so many on offer for coffee around the Albert Docks but I prefer their flat whites and can recommend their chocolate brownies

Staff that think they are beyond themselves. Dude its a cafe, help tired parents out. Why you panicking when its less than half full?

Rather expensive food which is not appetising. Coffee served was only warm. On the positive side, cafe area ok and reasonably convenient after visit to Tate.

If you are looking for a sit down and a drink after going round the Tate then this does the job. But I wouldn’t go there specially.

After we had been on a bus tour, a look round town we met our friends for a drink and a cake. we had three teas, a coffee, a scone a biscuit and a slice of cake which was well received. We found a couple of sofas and enjoyed a good catch up. It was very busy. All in all very nice.

We just had tea and cake but the prices were really good value far better than the big branded coffee houses. Nice and clean, friendly service, good location

Very nice breakfast. Staff were exceptionally helpful. They gave us and extra sausage too for fee. As the server said the player one looked a bit small. Now that’s good service! Nice place at The Albert Dock.

Had lunch here on arrival to Liverpool. Not overly impressive or special. Soup was nice. Choices limited.

Absolutely excellent place to catch a snack, cake or just a drink whilst your partner walks around the gallery trying to work out what it all means.... a very nice place to avoid the confusion. Try the cakes.... the best.

Good place for a reasonably priced lunch. We had the " Special " soup and sandwich for a little over £5. The soup could have been hotter but was very tasty and the sandwich was generously filled. Light and airey venue with friendly staff.

For those who have traipsed around the local galleries, the Tate Café is a restful haven where you can enjoy a hot drink and cake in peace and quiet. A pleasing, light and airy space on the ground floor, adjacent to the Albert Dock.

Me, Becky and the Olds had lunch here and really wasn’t much choice. The sandwiches were flavoursome (I had the poached salmon) however only 5 choices and not the cheapest either

Gluten free should extend beyond a hummus roll, if you run out of options by 1pm it's not rocket science to provide more options that have an extended shelf life,like biscuits, crackers popcorn and savoury snacks.

Right at the end of what might be deemed time for lunch, we were delighted to find wholesome, home made soup still on offer with a choice of tasty baguettes, wraps and sandwiches.

We had a 'Lunch Deal' tasteless soup, boring panini and expensive bottled water. Service was good though.

Went for lunch with family while visiting the Tate gallery on Sat , it was busy but everything seemed to be under control. Food was served hot, freshedly cooked and charged at very reasonable price. Considering where it is, a large pot of real herbal tea is charged at £2.50. Chips were crispy on the outside, and moist and mushy on the inside. Staff are friendly and helpful. We'll definitely return next time we're in the area.

Even on the worst of wild winter stormy days the Tate Cafe is great shelter for coffee and food. Considering the location the prices are very modest. Love the Tate Shop next to the cafe. FAB

Called in to the cafe at the side of the Tate gallery and ordered our food which was priced similar to other places in Liverpool.

Food arrived dangerously lukewarm, probably full of bacteria and salad was visibly soggy and stale. Waiter was uninterested and simply took it away. No apology. No offer of another meal. I've worked in restaurants in London and honestly couldn't believe how bad this place is. A blight on a wonderful, vibrant city.

The restaurant is cafeteria style where food is ordered at the counter and served at your table. We ordered soup and a sandwich, the lunch special. Hot and tasty. Service was pleasant and establishment clean.

Visited this lunchtime and had the soup and sandwich combo. Took the vegan wrap and spicy parsnip soup. Great value at £5.95 for freshly made goods. Pleasant airy venue with Peter Blake decoration.

Definitely worth visiting when in Liverpool - most of the museum is free, but there is also a section that you need to pay to see

En un helado lunes de feriado bancario, entramos para calentarnos y almorzar. El Folk Festival estaba en pleno flujo, pero necesitábamos sustinence y una cálida taza para sostener.

Decidimos tomar el té después de nuestra visita al bienniel de Liverpool en el Tate. El té era agradable, pero nuestro disfrute fue arruinado por el movimiento desconsiderado de los muebles. ¡Arrastrar mesas metálicas por los suelos de piedra produce un increíble nivel de ruido que consideramos inaceptable para nuestros oídos! Nos fuimos antes de terminar nuestro té.

Hermosa Cafetería, gran decoración, un ambiente animado. Vine aquí con mi familia que visitamos Liverpool incluyendo 5 años que me encantó el helado de menta con trocitos de chocolate! El personal es amable y el café es bueno. Una pequeña queja es que tienen en la tabla de café con hielo, pero servían como café caliente mezclado con agua del grifo fría y dos trozos de hielo, de modo que en realidad era café extrañamente tibia. Todo lo demás, aunque era muy bueno.

Miércoles 1 de agosto - sábado calle actualmente aquí con un delicioso café, pero el personal que lo bajan. No hay servicio al cliente, sin personalidad y maldita groseros. El joven que nos me molestó, no hola, no por favor, no gracias! Es verdad me terminó. En ningún otro lugar, por ejemplo, Costa y otras cafeterías el personal es fabuloso. Quizás un toque de amabilidad, poco de amabilidad y servicio al cliente en general. Pobre! ! En vez de gastar dinero en otro lugar.

Como celíaca, no un 'faddy complacían tengo que ser muy cuidadosa. Explicado para el personal detrás del mostrador. Aseguró que la hamburguesa y patatas fritas eran sin gluten y seguro. Diez minutos más tarde la opción libre de gluten en mi mesa con llega un anillo de cebolla maltratada grapado dentro del rollo de gluten free. Explique el problema, la misma comida (pero sólo con el anillo de cebolla extraído) volvió a mi mesa tres veces a pesar de mi haber explicado acerca de la contaminación.

Good wholesome food, lots of choices, quick and efficiently served. Nothing was a problem to them. Quirky tables and chairs and a nice change from some of the sterile non armospheric places to eat.

Had lunch at the Tate Café and sat outside overlooking the Albert Dock. The service and food was excellent but the view from the table outside was amazing.

Aparecimos por 2 capuchinos y el sabor y la temperatura era perfecto! El latte art fue hermoso! Incluso en un capuccino parecía increíble! Pedí el barista para su nombre, así que podría hacer un agradecimiento de él. Nicky su café es mate fantástico! Que definitivamente volveré.

Me encanta el Tate Liverpool y el café es excelente. Gran servicio y las sopas son abundantes y deliciosos. Servido con su elección de pan. Entre otras cosas, también tienen sandwiches, ensaladas y dulces y bebidas. También tiene mesas en el exterior - genial para relajarse después o antes o durante su visita al museo.

Fuimos a desayunar un par de mañanas y no me puedo quejar de la comida o el servicio.
