☕️🫖🥓🧃🍪🍰🍛🥪🥗🍣🍴🍮My friend and I with our 2 dogs.🐕🐕 are regular visitors to Taste Cafe in Saltburn. We have always been made to feel welcomed when we visit. The staff are all lovely and we always have a bit of banter with them all, whatever their age. Our dogs have never been a problem. In fact, if we go in without them, the staff think its strange! 😂 Weather, you're going in for a cuppa ☕️& cake🧁🍰 [deliciously home made] or something savoury with us coffee you will always have it all freshly prepared. We always have banter with the staff, and a lot of the time, the customers that are on holiday join in, and as they leave, always comment by saying thank you for the warm welcome. I think if places are busy not just taste, things would be late coming to you, sometimes give them a bit of slack I say. So imagine the TV show 'Friends' that's taste . In my opinion, it is the best all-around cafe for Saltburn. 😄👍🏻👍🏻🌞🌞🐾🐾

The best coffee we had on our North Yorkshire trip although Saltburn on sea is North East well Middlesborough. Great shots wonderful milk totally super vibe . Natural indoors couple of street seats yeh loved it . Only had cakes left savoury gone . But this place was quality looooved it .

First class cafe with excellent food and great staff. High quality produce, great coffee and the best bacon baps. Staff could not have been more helpful.

Lovely little shop i visited lunch time on a saturday, although busy the staff were lovely, polite and efficient, the latte I ordered was provided swiftly, and one of the best I have tasted.

Do not go to this establishment, it was like eating in a cafe run by kids, inappropriate discussion which could heard, sullen staff arguing about petty things throughout. Coffee came, ok, cheese scone 10 minutes later ok, BLT 20 minutes later ok. I cannot believe we stayed for the food!

Staff here took our order for tea and cakes but then we sat and waited while someone who is obviously a local was served with toast and tea a long time before us .We are local to the area as well!!!!Another concern is having customers with dogs in such a confined space when one was virtually blocking the way to the toilet.The coffee is brilliant as are the cakes but its a worry having dogs so close to an area and washing up being doing in a corridor next to a toilet .

Visited today with my wife and had a lovely lunch. They explained all the gluten free options to me. Being Coeliac, I went for the chicken and vegetable soup which came with Genius bread (no cheap rubbish you get in some places) and then a panini with honey chilli chicken. Both were delicious. They had a GF cake too but didn't try it. My wife, who's not GF, had the red pepper and tomato soup and said it was up there with the best soups she's tasted! Heartily recommended!

Called in here for morning coffee on a day visit to Saltburn by the Sea. Quickly found a table even though the cafe was busy. Coffee was served promptly and was delicious. The place felt very friendly, with well behaved dogs welcome. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience and definitely a place we would recommend.

We called in here following recommendations on TripAdvisor, we were not disappointed. We had a warm welcome and good service even though there were six of us and a dog. The coffee was good as were the cakes. Dog friendly. A lovely place to stop off.

Very sad to see “shrinkflation” suddenly taking grip here. Previously given 5 stars, some of the items have reduced in size and quality. Such a shame, given that Taste really used to have “ taste”! However the coffee is still the best in town!

We visited on a Sunday , about 1.30 and ordered a pot of tea for 2 & a cake each (both were on display). Our order was placed on a run in order so we ended up waiting for about 30 mins before our tea/cake arrived. Similar to an earlier review. I appreciate that you have to be patient and your order should not be given preference but most such establishments would serve this order straightaway before taking the next order, so as to cut waiting times and allow the tables to be freed up quicker. One customer had waited over 30 minutes for a take-out tea but was then told they had no “vegan” milk substitute (he was refunded his money) but I guess if this had been done as above, he wouldn’t have had to wait so long to find out. If there is a bit of cooking/longer preparation required, the existing system seems fair but as the coffee/tea machines are right behind the counter, surely it would improve customer satisfaction to serve simple orders straightaway (rather then just adding to all the orders). The cup of tea was very nice when it arrived albeit we were a lot more thirsty after the wait.

This is an excellent coffee shop / cafe. Don’t be fooled by the outside. It looks small. However it has a lovely very cosy room downstairs. The whole place is dog friendly. Excellent food and drink and the staff are very professional and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful, tasty bacon sandwich and a nice oat milk cappuccino. Always a pleasure to visit here. A fave spot for a nice chilled cuppa! X

We found the coffee house by chance whilst looking for a light bite to eat whilst in Saltburn. We had paninis and tea that was loose leaf which were both excellent and the staff were very friendly.

We visited lunchtime on Tuesday 26th after a walk around Saltburn as Taste looked the best. It was busy but we ordered two coffees and two cakes and took a seat downstairs. We waited for over 25 minutes as lots of other tables got served, including full lunch orders and people who arrived after us. It was only when we spoke to the waitress about our order (after about 25 minutes) it finally arrived after over 30 minutes just as we were about to leave. We only got a generic apology for the wait without any reason given. This level of service is totally unacceptable. An establishment of this size (small) should really be offering table service for eat in customers, which would ensure that customers don’t get forgotten like this.

A lovely find this is a really nice cafe, the coffee is excellent, cakes, scones and cakes are all delicious and served by nice friendly staff. A definite recommend

Went here for breakfast and ordered a bacon roll. Unfortunately they cut off every last millimeter of fat, which meant the bacon was extremely dry and tasteless. Won't be going here again

Lovely cafe with fabulous coffee and hot chocolate. If you like your coffee strong, this is the place to go. The staff are all lovely and smiling. They carry scotch eggs produced by one of the local guys. Their fruit scones and cheesecakes are really good too! Very hard to find good pastry shops in north east when you are used to quality of London. Will be back again soon

Wonderful coffee, hot chocolate, and sweet treats bought in from local suppliers. The staff are great, and if you go downstairs there are amazing pictures of Saltburn Pier.

A clean, modern cafe with friendly, helpful staff. We at upstairs as it was a blue sky day and we wanted to enjoy the sunshine rather than relax in the spacious downstairs area.The range of food is good for a cafe and the quality equally good. We shared a large scotch egg and side salad with a cup of tea and then opted for the spicy lamb (samosa style) pie and a ham and cheese panini. Both also came with fresh side salad.Cosy, friendly venue with good food just 2 minutes from the funicular.

Have been in here a few times now and always receive a good friendly welcome and good service.Coffee is very good and scones and cakes are too. The complementary shortbread biscuit is a nice touch.My one criticism is that the young girls serving at the weekends don’t seem to use the tongs to pick up cakes etc, they use their uncovered hands which have also handled money etc. Other than that I think this is a great little cosy tea and coffee house and somewhere I would recommend.

Fantastic little find! We were looking for somewhere different in our local area and stumbled across Taste on Facebook. After a message or two with the very friendly owner on their page, we visited. The staff are so friendly, especially the young girls in on the Saturday, we were made to feel really welcome and comfortable. The menu is small but has everything you could want; everything we ordered was delicious. Bacon sandwiches were really good quality and the coffee was extra hot too. We returned within a week or two and will definitely be back!

We called in to Taste for coffee and cake with our two young boys. Although the front area of the cafe is quite tight, room was made for the pram and extra folding chairs are a clever spacesaving idea.

This is a great little cafe by day and gin bar by night. I’ve visited twice and had excellent coffee and food, including lovely chicken and vegetable soup on my last visit. My dad had a gorgeous looking (and he said tasty) bacon and sausage sandwich on that last visit. The coffee is great too and so is the service. Well worth a visit.

Good range of options for lunch and food was yummy - panini's were served with a lovely fresh salad and coleslaw. It was very busy when we went and I got the sense staff members were a little bit frazzled (bit short in responses), but otherwise a lovely spot to grab a quick lunch. Would recommend sitting downstairs - just be warned that most seating down there consists of low sofas/chairs with low tables which made tackling a well-filled panini a bit challenging!

Warm and welcoming, cosy and comfortable - well worth the trip from Hartlepool. I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee and scones and totally agree with the ‘quality not quantity’ philosophy of the limited menu. An excellent place for a chat with friends, particularly in the basement where there is a relaxed and informal atmosphere with unobtrusive music and comfortable sofas. Thank you to Chris for looking after my booking when I needed a table on a Friday lunchtime. I will be back!

My friend and I went on a Tuesday early afternoon and had a table easily, and there was a lovely space downstairs as indicated by other reviews.

This little cafe is a tardis with a lovely cosy basement where we often call after a morning walk with our dogs to sample the excellent coffee and a toasted tea cake.... they also do a fab sausage butty. The staff are helpful and friendly, always making you feel welcome.

We have tried to get into this place a couple of times, but it was so popular there wasn't room for us! Managed our first visit today. Felt welcome and staff were really accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Service was friendly and this place deserves to be busy, good old service with a smile, like it used to be. Enjoyed using a local place, with local produce. The flat white I had was the best I've ever tasted! And the shortbread was lovely too, oh and the piece of lemon&blueberry; cake I had. Can't wait to return and try food next time. Thumbs up.

We called in on Monday 4 November quite by chance. We’d called at Saltburn whilst visiting the area, taken our Cocker Spaniel, Max, for a cold and bracing walk, and needed a warming drink. We were attracted by the very clear “dog friendly” signs and were delighted with the warm welcome we all received. The coffee and cakes were excellent, and Max was delighted to find that a water bowl and jar of doggie treats were provided for his benefit. All in all the visit to Taste made our day. Thank you for the excellent hospitality!

A full cafe is a great advert for itself...we had scotch eggs off their light lunch menu and they were brilliant (runny yolk) and followed up with cheesecake (also brilliant). We only went in for a coffee but the cake display convinced us to indulge. Despite the place being full, the staff were efficient and happy, so what more can you ask?

Found Taste rated no.1 on Tripadvisor. Panini, toasties, brownie, tea, coffee, juice - all delicious. Well worth a visit and highly recommended. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, dog friendly and super-clean.

We found Taste by looking at Trip Advisor reviews and were so glad we visited with our spaniel Millie. Delicious cappuccinos, tasty panini and scones and very good conversation with Chris and some of his regular customers.

Found this by chance on way to the gardens.Glad we did! Mainly cakes and scones. Do some savoury pies and scotch eggs. Cakes are delicious and coffee and teas are best Iv had. Total yum! Similar price to elsewhere.They have downstairs seating. Chairs are so comfy you dont want to leave! Service good and allow dogs in as well. Lovely place to meet and greet! Definitely worth a visit so much so could lounge there all day and not do anything!

Whenever I need a blast of fresh air I head to Saltburn, park by the top of Valley Gardens and head to Taste for a coffee before setting off on a circuit of the gardens and pier. This is a busy little coffee shop which seems to be frequented by locals as well as visitors to town.Its also very dog friendly.Coffee and cakes are excellent as are lunches after a bracing walk. For consistently good value and great service this is now my ‘go to’ place when in town

Called in whilst visiting Saturn briefly had probably the best coffee I've had in a long time the service was wonderful and warm if only I lived nearer I'd make it a regular haunt. Highly recommended

A great little place with a yummy menu. We had travelled 60 miles so were in need of sustenance. This time we visited with my dad who not only is elderly and registered blind but is 3 weeks post a fall . And from the minute we arrived the ladies working there were friendly and so helpful. They immediately put two tables together to make it easier for the four of us and they also helped my dad up the steps into the cafe. It was a flat walk to the loo for him which was helpful too. A big thank you for all the help, it was much appreciated. The toasted tea cakes and scones were divine. The pots of tea are a decent size too. There were obviously regulars arriving too to partake in cuppas and snacks. They sell the most delicious looking scotch eggs too. And cakes. And pies....well, allsorts! The crisp shortbread biscuit is a nice touch with the coffee/ tea too. We'll be back for sure!!!

We were happy to find this place as we had found a shortage of dog friendly cafes to eat in the town.

This cafe is a little hidden gem, tucked down a side street away from the main hub of the town. The choice of food available isn't vast, but the proprietor concentrates on quality not quantity. The food is freshly prepared so you may have to wait a while, but it is well worth it. We had the home-made Scotch eggs served with salad and homemade coleslaw, absolutely perfect, tasty and well executed in the presentation. There is a wonderful choice of different good quality teas, coffees and fresh fruit drinks available. The cakes on display were a work of art, perfectly created and tasted divine, they would put a very famous long established cafe in Harrogate to shame!! The one thing that stood out was the friendly hospitality of the staff, nothing was too much trouble and the cafe itself was immaculately kept and the interior very trendy, beautiful and carefully thought out. All in all a very enjoyable experience thank you.

Coolest place in Saltburn yesterday was downstairs at Taste. The fan was on and it felt lovely. Great coffee, excellent customer service but unfortunately very poor cheese scones. Dry and not enough cheese to give any flavour. We will visit again and choose something different, it's worth a look if you're passing.

The best choice we made was to celebrate at taste tea and coffee house in Saltburn. Their food was well presented, fresh and locally sourced. Without being asked they provided water and cordial for those who did like coffee or tea at the afternoon tea. The premises and cleanlines as well as foid and service was all 5*. Give them a visit you won't be disappointed. First time in a long time I have been so happy and satisfied with every aspect of a visit to an eaterie, such quality, profesiionalism and friendliness is very hard to find.

We visited Taste last month whilst on holiday with our children & dog. What an incredible find this was. Dog friendly (upstairs & down) and the most friendly & helpful staff. Our lunch was delicious & the cakes are heavenly. So much so that we took some away for later. The food in incredibly priced - when I mentioned this to the owner he said that he didn't want to overcharge & rip people off - how very refreshing. This was a brilliant find - it's only a shame that we live so far away but will definitely return if we are in the area on holiday.

This is the best cafe in Saltburn for tea. Loose-leaf tea is served in see-through pots along with a pot of hot water.

Slightly off the beaten track this is a true gem. Friendly service with a fantastic array of drinks and cakes (we didn’t try the lunch menu but it certainly looked wholesome). Good value for money, cosy and decent portions. After a blowy walk along the beach or Cleveland Way find your way up the cliff road to this lovely cafe.

Appearances can be deceptive. We visit plenty of tea shops and this one, although it would be easy to overlook, is as good as you could hope to find anywhere. Lovely array of cakes and other tempting eats, and a fine choice of teas served from quality teapots (and a pot of extra water, without needing to be asked). Tea comes with a dainty shortbread biscuit and our salted caramel cake with a few raspberries and blueberries too. The ground floor room is not large but there is also an inviting basement lounge. “Taste” combines excellence, at very reasonable prices, with a generosity of spirit that is rare indeed these days.

Such a lovely place stopyfor a quick takeaway coffee and staff were friendly and coffee was really good. I definitely will be returning to sit in and enjoy properly as cakes looked amazing

We stopped here for a drink before walking through the park to beach. Having been warmly greeted, we sat downstairs where there are comfy sofas & chairs, with pictures of Saltburn pier in different moods on the wall. We ordered a latte, two hot chocolates, bottle of water & a caramel shortbread all for just over £11, very good value. Coffee was delicious, came with a very tasty shortbread biscuit. Apparently hot chocolate was lovely as was the caramel slice my son had. The guy running the cafe couldn't do enough. Well worth a visit.
