Taste of India in Havant

Ordered my usual Lamb Vindaloo, mixed kebab, & mushroom rice. My wife had lamb rogan, mushroom rice and Saag aloo. As always it was perfect. Delivery was also on time.

Food portion size is great, you can bring your own booze, food is great tasting and good value, I come from Portsmouth and would not eat an Indian anywhere else,

Delivery times for takeaway are unacceptable. Have been let down too many times. They show no interest in providing basic levels of service. I don’t use them anymore and wouldn’t recommend.

Always good food and service here

Ordered a takeaway, always been my favourite Indian in the area. Didn’t fail to meet my expectations great value for money. Didn’t realise they delivered to my location. Looking forward to many delicious takeaways in 2024

Brought a takeaway had dozens from this place over the years without issues, however today a found debris from a drink can ring pull in my special Rice so not happy at all, there’s only one way it got there, my daughter could have ingested it, just had to throw all the food in the bin, not taking chances.

More than a cut above your usual high street curry. Note that no license so if you fancy a beer or a wine with the curry then co op is across the street. Decor is not its thing as like being in a converted front room. Really friendly speedy service. Note that it books up quickly so is worth a ring before you go. You will not be disappointed on price, quality and service. WELL DONE.

I booked a table for four at 7 over a week ago for last night, Friday 24th. We arrived a few minutes early, (there was an empty table), but we were asked to wait? After checking their diary, they apologised and told us they’d over booked and asked us to return later? (Which implies that the table was for someone far more important than us maybe)? I know they took note of my call, because they rang back to confirm I was aware they didn’t serve alcohol, I told them I was aware. So they had my number, why didn’t they ring to confirm the booking. Unless there’s a valid reason, we won’t be returning anytime soon!

Booked a table in advanced, about a week ago. Got there "Sorry we've double booked " come back in half an hour, no sorry . That's really bad service.

We’ve had some lovely meals from here. The last two was not so good. Tried again tonight for a delivery. It was terrible. The naan bread was wet, they missed out a few of our items. The curry was not even a curry. No sauce just lots of chopped tomatoes. And food was cold! Onion salad didn’t have any onions in it, was cabbage? Bizarre. Wont be ordering again

Was in Emsworth for a Sunday night stop over and decided on an Indian meal. Having looked on Tripadvisor decided to opt for Taste of India rather than the larger Indian next door. In the event was glad I did as the food here was excellent: tasty, spicy and with good service. The restaurant is small and given how busy it was on a September Sunday evening it would probably be a good idea to book (I did). It doesn't have a licence so bring your own alcohol but they provide glasses and don't charge corkage. I don't often give 5 stars but for what I was looking for this was spot on and the best Indian meal I have had in a long time.

Very very top quality food exalent service friendly good people happy to help and my curry was out of this world fresh hot so good I will most definitely be going back to here my advice is to try it out you won't be disappointed I had a shazlic and dansak and I could eat it again it was so nice very high standard of food .......

The whole experience ordering from a Taste Of India was excellent. The delivery was bang on time and the food was delicious. We would not hesitate to order from this restaurant again.

Lovely dishes - tasty, spicy and hot. Unfortunately we ordered a portion of chips which were the worst I've ever tasted. Hard, dry and tasted like cardboard. Appreciate that chips aren't Indian cuisine but it takes some effort to make chips taste this bad. Indian food was nice though so lesson learned!

Really was looking forward to a good birthday meal, called ahead and made reservations, got there and had to wait over half an hour. Eventually gave up and went next door. Really disappointed.

They are bit tight on the space, staff can be little more attentive. Food was good though. 😊

Great local Indian restaurant. Small inside and always packed The food is great, ans service and the prices are fair. It's Bobby (Bring Your Own) drink, but it's perfect with tesco and Co Op 2 min walk to buy a drink before you go in.

Friendly staff, excellent food. We generally get their food delivered. If you want to eat in we recommend booking in advance as there are not many tables.

Small and you really need to book. The reason is the food is always delicious. If you like Indian well worth a visit you won't be disappointed.

Great quality food, extensive menu, we loved all our wide variety of dishes. Very busy for a Monday night so would recommend booking when you go.

They are our 'go to' Indian (we have many choices locally). The food is tasty, good value and not uniform. Portions are generous and the delivery service is super efficient.

Get a takeaway quite often very nice food and friendly staff

This place is really hit and miss with its food. The last one I had the sauce was really watery and the bread wasn’t up to scratch. I ordered a Chicken Madras which had little to no spice and the chicken was dry, so all in all a bad experience. But I have had some nice ones so hence the three stars and not lower.

Ordered and payed for a chicken cheese tikka nahn Got home was a plain nahn silly bit of chicken and cheese within the bread. Not atall a proper cheese tikka nahn lol

We’ve been getting take out from here for years and it’s always been consistently very good - but something has changed recently and it’s now consistently exceptional. All dishes we’ve tried are fantastic, highly highly recommended.

English style Indian food at it’s best. Lovely crisp onion bali & juicy tandoori chicken. Followed by tender Lamb Rogan & Chicken Vindaloo served with a great puffy naan. All wonderfully fresh. And busy on a Monday night.

Tasteless curry, hardly any meat just lots of sauce. However, the starters were very nice.

No taste what so ever on either of the dishes!, I have never know an Indian restaurant to have such Bad food won’t be going back.

Superb Indian restaurant with a good menu choice. Front of house staff are welcoming and cheerful. Tastes for everyone and the restaurant, although quite small offers a great venue for dinner. Not over priced but I would say priced for quality and service. Stunning setting too in the heart of Emsworth and Town.

Excellent food, good staff. Awesome prawn pure and loved the chicken shaslick too. It’s a BYOB so great value too. If lived nearby would definitely be a regular. Asked for madras hot and was perfectly spiced

As the title says. I’ve had many currys over the years and this one was top class. Lots of flavour, lots of chicken. Perfect.

We ordered a home delivery this evening - our first experience of this restaurant. The response over the phone was efficient and courteous. The meal arrived as promised. We had excellent food. It was well prepared and cooked, very tasty and had clearly been cooked by chefs who knew their stuff. Thanks very much.

I have used this restaurant for takeaways for years now and have never been disappointed. Whether it’s a Rogan Josh, a Lamb Zafrani or a Meat Vindaloo they are always delicious. Delivery usually takes 45 mins though once it was just over the hour but still hot. It’s worth waiting for!

Really nice place to go for food . Portions are a good size and the curry i had was very good indeed .The staff are brilliant .... very friendly and look after all your needs . The resturant is small , so book a table in advance . You will need to take your own beer , wines ... etc . I would definetly go back again .

The food was lovely and service was first rate. A small intimate setting which is a lovely change from larger venues. We took our own alcohol and we’re provided with a bottle opener/corkscrew and glasses for our drinks. The food was fairly priced and bringing our own alcohol meant even better value. The food was delicious and we will definitely return.

Did not realise it had changed hands but this explains the meal we had as a take away. Very disappointed. Portion was poor and chicken overcooked. I love a Madras but won't be having one there again. Also they have now decided not to serve alcohol which we didn't know.Not impressed

We ordered early on Saturday, soon after opening time - and were told it would be 40-45 minutes. Over an hour later we hadn't heard anything. We had to phone up again to be told it was on its way. The food arrived soon after. Food was disappointingly average, dry chicken and not very spicy. Pity, especially when trying to support our local businesses.

Good food but managed to mess up the simplest of orders. Chicken Kurma, pilau rice and Bombay potatoes - no rice!

Probably the most awful Indian food I ever had in the UK so far. Curry is all sweet when I asked the curry to be made proper authentic way.. Also Naan was sweet too when asked for a plain naan Service was not good at all since staff are busy taking care of takeaway not customers on table. Please don't make food when you cannot keep the taste of Indian food. I wish I could give minus rating but not allowed here. . . Better to buy sauce from shop and make chicken at home rather than having curry from here.

Ordered takeaway at 6.15 and was assured, before I ordered, that our meal would be with us by 7.30. Arrived at 8.45, phone constantly busy so couldn't check where our food was. Very disappointed!

We rang at 1825, told it would be just over an hour 2020 still waiting! Keep calling and constantly engaged!

Waited over 2 hours for food mare something to eat in the end. Second time this has happened .We refused the food maybe if more people did this they would mot get away with this rubbish service.

Ordered food, it took double the time we were told. Rung up hour later to be told food was on its way. It then arrived cold half an hour after we were told it would be a few minutes. Disappointed and they have not contacted me back yet.

Two dhansak curries, rice, peshwari naan & tandoori chicken starters were really good but just not hot enough for us. The chicken was generous, lean and tender and the service was good, we waited just the 20 minutes promised on a Friday evening. Great value - interior to scruffy for us to enjoy sitting in but for a takeaway it really was good.

Good food but wasn't as good as usual, husband found a large chunk of something in his, perhaps cinnamon stick but not sure, sadly put him off finishing.

The interior of Taste of India may have been refreshed during lockdown but, my goodness, what has happened to the food. We ordered a take away and the onion bajiis were limp and soggy, the binjal bhaji was simply unpleasant and the lamb pasanda did feature meat of some sort but didn't look or taste like lamb. We phoned to complain and received a text apologising for the poor quality of the food. It was a standard text so probably sent to diners on a regular basis. It's a shame as we have had some lovely meals in the past but right now this is one to avoid. Try the Darbar instead - usually very good.

Ordered 3 main meals, 2 sides and a rice, this restaurant food is normally really good but tonight we are very disappointed. Maybe a year since we had food from here. We had heard it was open in Lockdown and said we'd support them. We

We used to use the same Indian but when it was in Rowlands Castle. When that one closed we were thrilled to hear their branch in Emsworth was still open and the food is just as delicious, great staff who are friendly and helpful and the takeaway/delivery service is just as good.

If there is just one annoyance I have with restaurants when I rarely book ahead and eat out is arriving at the place to find the table you have booked is not ready and already occupied. Sheer greed and over-promising appear to be the reasons. With a business friend we had to stand and wait 15 minutes for a table that was booked for 7pm. This restaurant only has 8 tables, it is that tiny. So take note and be aware. Conversation is difficult when busy as the little room is buzzing with voices in a small area. I chose this restaurant as the large one two doors away is notorious for keeping customers waiting for over an hour for their meal. My friend ordered a lamb balti and when it arrived, it was a chicken balti. He didnt send it back as we had waited too long and was hungry. The magnificent amount of 25p was deducted from the bill for this error. Food average. I can't say I would recommend it but I guess it is better than others in the area and has stood the test of time being in the town for over 30 years.

We have been here several times and try and arrange to eat here with friends whenever we visit Emsworth. The food is consistently delicious, with a lovely menu that keeps us coming back and the customer service is really good; both welcoming and attentive. We shall continue to work our way through the menu in coming months and years. Would always advise booking as it is very popular with both locals and visitors throughout the year.

I had to arrange a large group meeting and meal. I had been to the Taste of India previosly and enjoyed their food. When I contacted them and mentioned about the number of people involved, they did not hesitate, especially as it is not a large dining area. On the night, the staff were very attentive and everybody received their food at the same time. It was the usual good food, and everybody had a great time. Thanks for making it possible.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at this restaurant. The restaurant is quite small so we booked ahead.Staff were courteous and the food was slightly different to the usual Indian restaurant menu but very tasty all the same.Prices were reasonable and we would recommend a visit here for a quality meal.

Walked past this restaurant and it looked very welcoming so we went in ,the waiter was very pleasant with us ,this helps but the food we had was lovely ,the naan bread was soo freshly baked .There was a disabled lady customer there who the waiters obviously knew and they were lovely and patient with her ,the mark of excellent customer care

Shared a takeaway meal between two of us, delivered to our door well within the time stated. Food was hot and very tasty, best Indian food we have had for a long while.

This is such an amazing restaurant. I have been going here for over 30 years and it never fails to deliver - one of the best curry houses in the south. :)

Excellent menu & value for money

Looked quite alright as we walked in. Shown to a table with a smile. Asked if we wanted drinks, then it went down hill from there. Zero manners, it almost appeared as if we were being a hindrance if we needed more drinks or to order food. The staff just stood at the bar talking whilst customers were having to get up and walk to the bar to ask for extras. The food wasn't great, bland and tasteless. Quite dissapointed really. For a place with 4 stars. Maybe just a bad day or too late on in the day at 8pm to get good service. I don't know.

Take away. ordered King Prawn biryani. Turned out to be five small pieces of chicken cut to look like prawns. Not very nice and certainly will not be caught again there.
