This is a delightful small cafe off Oban's main street. I enjoyed my breakfast there, and would definitely recommend for visitors to Oban!

An absolutely amazing place for breakfast. The food was brilliant and they catered for both a celiac and a vegan. They even remade my breakfast when I ordered something that wasn't gluten-free by accident. Could not have asked for better.

Dirty small and inadequate help. Not a good experience. Just another dirty hole in the wall in Oban. Save your money for a good place

A real gem, fantastic food and friendly service

A gem of a place. Plain and simple surroundings but excellent food. I had steak pie, veg and chips. Steak was melt in the mouth in a thick gravy. Friend had chicken soup which she said was delicious and a toasties. Could not fault the food or the staff.

A popular spot for b'fast and lunch in Oban town centre. The full b'fast cost £9.99 and as such was good value for money. All freshly cooked and served with a smile. Nice to get proper link sausage (rather than the dry Lorne square sausage often served around these parts). Everything cooked well..although personally I prefer mushrooms cooked in butter. A great shout to support local independent shops.

Thanks to a “sandwich board” we spotted on the corner of the high street, we took a chance on this little cafe. It was a great decision. The menu was varied (something for everyone) and the food was absolutely delicious. It was packed with people, and it’s easy to see why. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was cozy.

What a treat!. This is a little restaurant up a side street in Oban. Don't be fooled by its location. It provides the loveliest wholesome, freshly made food you will find here Fab service and very reasonable prices. A real gem!!

Great food. But the two very young waitresses had a slight attitude due to business. When I asked for a table of two, her eyes rolled and her body language was as if to say "yes that empty table but we are very busy". Secondly, the back of house staff cooking food were in constant argument with the two front of house girls, which for such a small place is heard by everyone eating. Shouting and arguing while I'm having breakfast is not what I want. The food was lovely and the girls did put on fake smiles. I did see one fellow walk out quite angrily after being met with an attitude from the waitress. He was noticeably annoyed and from what I heard of the conversation she was trying to turn away business when there were clearly spaces free. The spaces however, had not been cleared of the previous guests crockery. A crying shame. This place could be ran better and staff should be trained on how to deal with stress. Keep the good food coming. Drop the attitudes from the front of house.

Whoever said " hidden wee gem" is spot on. You'll be surprised at what's on offer. Great find....we will return🤣🤣

Not only has this wee cozy and hidden gem got the best breakfast in Oban but the best by far in any establishment I have had. A wonderful dining experience excellent service and beautifully decorated. My sister and I stopped in for breakfast and it was amazing there was no problems having scrambled egg with mine and extra toast. If you haven't been it's a must I loved the fact that the little touches like jam and butter on the table and bottles of water for the table where on offer. Being a hospitality manger and working in various establishments I can honestly this was a fantastic experience and made our day. So thank you from us for being amazing.

Went in with my sister for breakfast and turned out to be the best I've had. Asked for my fried egg to be well done and that's exactly what I got, it was perfect. Don't normally eat square sausages but it was delicious. Everything was beautiful and a lovely host. Looking forward to visiting again.

Definitely the tastiest breakfast I've ever had. Each individual component had flavour. All ingredients are locally sourced & you can really tell. Great service too, very friendly.

The pictures in the other reviews don't seem to be from the place I went to. I think there might be 2 different "taste of Argyll" or something. The one I went to had sticky tables and the food looked and tasted like taken straight from a box and plated. Frozen food that was reheated and served. I wouldn't recommend it

Popped over from Mull to collect new glasses and decided to have a full breakfast in this little cafe.....and it was absolutely delicious.......alway nice to find a perfect little watering hole when we visit the mainland and this is definitely worth a revisit 5*****

Amazingly tasty food, freshly made and my Highland beef pie was packed with succulent beef pieces topped with flaky pastry. The vegetables were plentiful, and the mash soooo creamy. Husband had the pork and apple burger with chips, also delicious. We rounded off the meal with lemon and blueberry cake with cream. Shocked we were the only ones in on a Saturday night! Wanted to wear a sandwich board advertising this little gem!

This was a perfect spot for a delicious lunch. Quiet, unpretentious, and everything we had to eat was very tasty and fresh.

Beide Burger waren eher trocken und Fleisch war so lala. Pommes gut! Scotch Egg war ok, aber nicht besonders. Im Prinzip ein nettes Restaurant mit durchschnittlichem Essen.

Wir haben das kleine Restaurant zufällig entdeckt und spontan hier gefrühstückt. Der Salmon Bagel war sehr lecker. Es hat uns so gut geschmeckt dass wir am nächsen morgen wieder hier das selbe gefrühstückt haben. Leider geht unsere Reise weiter daher können wir nicht wieder kommen.

If the beef pie had a proper crust instead of a puff pastry lid, it would be one of the best of all time. The fish and chips was very average though: frozen chips and tasteless fish.

My friend and I lunch every week in Oban and have on many occasions walked past this unassuming restaurant. In fact thought it was just a 'carry out'. Today we went in as we were parked outside. Everything was PERFECTION. Food ,service and price. Good size portions. We will be regulars from now on.

La salade de crevettes inscrite sur le tableau mis à l’extérieur n’était pas dispo et la propriétaire ne savait même pas de quoi je parlais… La salade classique de crevettes avec sauce RoseMary est insipide ! Il est noté langoustine mais il s’agit de petit crevette Bref, je déconseille ce spot

Quality of food is nice and tasty, although quite a limited menu. Staff were so lovely and attentive. Was recommended to come here when in oban!🤗

So glad that we saw the sign and walked up the side street. Fantastic place for a great breakfast and wonderful value. All the staff were very friendly. We had a Scottish Stack - toasted crumpet, haggis, black pudding, poached egg and rocket! Really fab. We can’t wait to go back sometime for an evening meal which looked like great value too.

Wunderful seefood and loverly staff. We realy enjoyed the food and the Pinot Grego. My dawter enjoyed the fish nets and there was a hot American lady.

Probably the most affordable and fresh fry up I’ve encountered in the past year. It’s a tiny place, so I’d recommend a reservation if you’re going in peak times, but well worth the visit.

Great local food, cooked to order. Fresh and delicious. The burger and scotch egg were amazing, juicy and were well needed on a damp Oban day. Great service too, with a smile, nothing was an issue.

Fantastic place! Fresh and local (but the avocado ;) ) ingredients good bread (also acceptable if you are from Germany ) a nice variation of different teas! We’ve been here for breakfast and the lunch/dinner menu looks fantastic as well

A small family restaurant 6 tables, on a side street, my wife and I are vegetarians, we found this lovely restaurant, the owner is charming and cordial and prepared us special dishes that are adapted to us, with a lot of patience and most importantly very tasty.

Hübsches kleines Café/ Restaurant in einer Seitenstraße im Zentrum von Oban. Die Burger waren sehr lecker, sowohl die Fleisch- als auch die vegetarische Variante! Auch die Ofenkartoffel ist empfehlenswert. Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich und es herrscht eine nette und entspannte Atmosphäre. Es gibt nur wenige Sitzplätze. Es können auch Gerichte für außer Haus bestellt werden.

We had great expectations of wonderful local sourced and prepared food. Sadly, burger burnt, little taste. Tables not wiped or cleaned. Tables reset, after customer's left, plates removed. Cutlery replaced, but tables not cleaned! So hygiene??

Delicious scottish egg, balanced with a fresh salad. Lamb was ok, veggies were meh at best, definitely overpriced. Rhubarb crumble was not food? too sour with a weird texture, do not recommend.

Small cafe has extensive menus and cakes, nice bit of background music and just of the main area in Oban. Only had a cup of tea my friend had a cake, good prices friendly staff.

Can't say much about the food as we only had a beer on a hot day, but very cute small atmosphere with a great breeze. Small assortment of baked goods, and a surprisingly large bar selection for such a small space.

Food was good. Ideal if you want something basic and inexpensive if a little run of the mill. Service was friendly. Would return if looking for something cheap and easy.

I was SUPER excited to try Taste of Argryll. We have had some AMAZING Highland beef and venison burgers on our holiday but this stop was just so-so. We all ordered a Highland burger and were underwhelmed by the quality of the beef. Their patty to bun ratio was very off with tons of bread leftover. I strategically positioned my patty on the bun and had nearly half a bun of bread without meat. However, the beef lasagna was delicious and the garlic mushroom starter were the runaway HIT of the meal. I nearly ordered some to bring home.

A cracking wee place for a lovely meal. The great majority of ingredients are locally sourced, and so tasty. A lovely welcome from the staff, and brilliant service. So good, we were straight back the following morning for breakfast

I arrived just before opening time - not a problem to the staff. Didn't have to wait too long for what I consider the best breakfast in Oban. All high quality items - will be back again next visit.

Only had a scone and coffee. Scone was on the small side and not the freshest. Coffee nice. Young lady waitress was lovely.

Saw the A board at the end of Argyle St. saying dog friendly so went to look for a breakfast. Menu was very good and husband had Crofters breakfast, beautiful meat from their own farm, very high quality. Coffee was lovely and went well with...

This was an amazing little find in Oban as we were heading back to the car. Dog friendly and welcoming and such a warm welcome from the front of house staff as well, checking we were okay. Looks a little like a cafe but don't let that put you off, everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. I loved the use of local produce and it was well worth it. Seems popular, a family had to be turned away at lunchtime!

The place is tiny but the ambience is good. The food is very nice, I have ordered prawn Chinese curry and it was superb! Definitely recommend here if you're in oban.

Whilst out and about in Oban I got extremely hangry! We had a long drive back to dumfries and need a good meal. We went to a place and walked out, then seen taste or argyll kitchen on reviews, so glad we walked in! Greeted...

Just had a fabulous smoked salmon bagel breakfast with free range scrambled egg and LOADS of smoked salmon. Fantastic value for money. Delicious coffee too.

Pros: food is good. Cons: everything else. Service was absolutely trash. Maybe it is because I am American and didn’t order correctly? I’m not sure. Wife order cheese toastie and tea, I ordered beef pie with a back up being a chicken sandwich and a Diet Coke. What did we each get? Our sandwiches, that’s it. Now they were good hence the two stars but everything else was bad. Didn’t get our drinks. Also, I was asked to order a back up to the beef pie in case they didn’t have it hence the sandwich. I have no issue with that. I have an issue with the gentleman who came in 10 minutes after I did and ordered the beef pie with a beverage and got both. You don’t have my primary order?? That’s fine! But to pull that on me? Nah, go elsewhere. Food is good but not that good!

Great breakfast, perfectly and quickly prepared. If you are looking for a place to pop in and don’t have a lot of time, you can do that here and still get a delicious meal. Very much recommended!

A dish they should be really proud of! Lamb shank cooked to perfection and dressed with a delicious red wine jus, meat came off the bone instantly, mash was creamy and fluffy at the same time and veggies were fresh and crunchy. Also tried their scampi, chips and green peas, and a sublime Scotch egg made with the most aerated and light pork mixture. The salmon bagel had a lovely cream cheese and chives bed to sit a nicely smoked salmon on top. Lovely hospitality in a wee but vibrant place. Glad to have tried their food it was delicious! 🤤

Very good. We had salmon bagels, venison burger, and the pork and apple burger. All surprisingly well executed for such a low key establishment. Also had the scotch egg, which was the only thing we were disappointed by.

Walked in, had to ask where we could sit, told we couldn't sit at the made up table by the counter as it would block the way. The lady behind the counter told the young to clear the table by the window for us, she removed the plate and carried on chatting to the woman behind the counter. We sat down for a few mins and no one came over or wiped the very crummy table. We left.

Wee bowl of home made cream of chicken soup was ok but feel the small bowl and big bit of chicken the chicken could do with been cut up a bit more

Great tasting food and super service. Good value and enjoyed it so much we went back for a return visit before the end of our stay. Choice to either eat in or take out some options, worth checking ahead as can be popular.

This is a gem of a cafe! Be forewarned... There is limited seating... So plan ahead and call for a booking. We thoroughly enjoyed the staff and our dinners. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally - including from the owners own farm/croft. Fantastic!!!

Desastre total. La comida es normalucha tirando a mala, pero lo peor es el trato. Dos muchachas jóvenes bastante desagradables, lo cual nos pareció bastante raro, debido a que todo el mundo nos trató de maravilla en Escocia. Vinimos a este sitio por las reseñas tan positivas que tenía, pero a la vista del resultado, no sé como las tiene.

The service was really friendly and efficient but the food was quite tasteless. The gravy/sauce in my husband’s pie was watery and the vegetables were over cooked. I think a focus on fewer menu options done well would be better, especially since they also didn’t have my first or second choices. There could be some improvements in the ambience as well, it’s quiet and awkward.

A planned overnight in Oban meant we were looking for a nice, easy-to-find, decent evening meal and breakfast. The v good reviews led us to 'Taste of Argyll' and we weren't disappointed. A phone-call to book was dealt with swiftly. Service was pleasant, friendly and prompt. The food was tasty and served fairly quickly. All good. A guide on price...two mains (one from the appealing specials board), a dessert to share (v nice home-made ice cream) and two drinks (alcohol) came to £39. We returned for an excellent breakfast in the a.m. and this small place was justifiably busy. We'd come again.

We had a nice traditional Scotish breakfast with all the fixings. The woman serving was friendly and efficient. It was nice to see all the sweet and well behaved pups.
