The Strone Inn in Argyll & Bute

We had the warmest of welcomes from the staff and locals alike. Community spirit alive and well in Strone. The kitchen was closed during our stay so we didn't get to enjoy the meals. Hoping to do so on a return visit.

S Just went for roast dinner neroli lunch. It was good. No complaints.

What a great little find. If you are in the area and need some really good food then you must go to this place. Really delicious vegetarian and vegan options and the service was so relaxed and friendly we all came away with full tummies and smiles on our faces. Can not recommend this place enough. It's not big so I would recommend booking so you don't miss out.

Really great food served by lovely friendly people. Not a big place so let them know you're coming if not local. Can recommend the beef pie, and the excellent vegetarian options. The cheese plate was delightfully controversial but might be the most generous we've seen in the UK.

Came for a sunday roast with my family, layout of the pub is strange and felt a bit dirty when I had to walk past the kitchen to use the bathroom and saw all the food just sitting out. There we a fair few flies about and it just felt a bit dirty. Food wasn't great, starters came out with rotten salad and my arancini was cold. I ordered the lamb and it had no flavour and was rather dry. Service wasn't the best either and just didn't feel attended to, though some requests for what was on the sunday roast (i.e veggies) was provided. Unfortunately I wouldn't be back anytime soon.

We spent a month in Blairmore, Dunoon, and had several wonderful meals and evenings at the Strone Inn. The food is delicious and while the fish & chips and steak pie are great, they also have many inventive and out-of-the ordinary dishes each week too. Check out the weekly menu on their Facebook page. Plus, it's exactly the kind of place you think of when you want a neighborhood pub. We met many of the locals, enjoyed watching the Six Nations matches, even won at the pub quiz! Highly recommend if you are in the Dunoon area.

Lovely friendly pub, with some real ale and craft ale. Excellent food - we had gyoza, soup, prawns, fish and chips and duck breast. All great and decent value.

Fantastic friendly pub with amazing food. We ate here on a busy Friday evening. The staff made room for us and our dog even though most of the tables were booked. Food was really tasty and the landlord had some good hand pulled ales in. We will definitely visit again if in the area.

Lovely pub serving good food. The staff were friendly, chatty and efficient. Our food was excellent. The ambience was what one would expect in a friendly local pub - and they were definitely friendly.

Lovely meal. Service was superb we were looked after really well by the staff. Highly recommended but be sure to book in advance as it gets really busy.

It's a fantastic wee friendly local for us. Tremendous food always from Linda. Very customer focused staff who enjoy getting involved in the banter. Could do with some acoustic performances on a regular basis.

First time on recommendation and very pleased will visit again. Firstly lovely hosts very welcoming when we walked in, table has lovely view over the loch. Menu limited but good, had a dish that was new on menu chicken orzo, being a fussy eater wasnt sure I would like it, absolutely delicious loved it. Husband being a chef nightmare eating out had not one complaint one of the best steak pies full of meat and no soggy pastry and I finished with lemon posset perfect. Nothing was reheated about 10 minute wait for it to be cooked which is fine to get decent food. Will bring family from England out next month thank you.

OMG My son and I had a meal today. The service was excellent, the staff incredibly friendly and inviting and the food was to die for. I had the beef chunks and my son the steak and guiness pie. 20/10. We will be back. We live locally and also couldn't believe the portion sizes. Fit for a king or queen.

I didn't get chance to go inside, but it's in a beautiful location,looks great and is very peaceful, I would recommend calling ahead as opening times/days are limited but it's definitely worth a look

This place is true Scotland. As a American that had the privilege to be stationed in Scotland. This was my favorite place to have a Pint and a Gill of Scotch. I sure miss it!

Lovely cosy rural pub, with fantastic food and a premium drinks selection! This includes an excellent selection of wines and ales, which goes beyond what could normally be expected! Dog friendly for food and drinks within bar area. Book well in advance for food to avoid disappointment!

I visited The Strone Inn with my daughter and her husband and had the most delicious roast beef dinner I have ever tasted. It was a joy to have a selection of delicious fresh vegetables, a generous helping of lean, tender roast beef and the best gravy I have ever tasted, all served piping hot, especially the roast potatoes. The local people are among the friendliest you could wish to meet and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

We ate here twice during our stay in kilmun and both times the food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful and service was great. It is dog friendly and everyone made a big fuss of ours while we were there. I would highly recommend eating here or just coming in for a wee dram as they also have some very nice whisky.

We visited a few weeks ago for the first time with friends. Wow, love it. Linda is a great cook. The menu was fabulous and I'm quite picky but 3 courses, beautiful wine (beers for the boys) and fab service. We even got the bus there and back no problem so you dont need a car. Been back already 😍

Good food at good prices, set in comfortable surroundings,with views out across the loch, plenty on street parking close to hand,...what's not to like ...ideal, down to earth venue, get yourself out there..

You get pubs that serve 'Pub Grub' Restaurants that serve food but lack atmosphere, then you get The Strone Inn, where you are greeted like a warm cozy pub and served food beyond Restaurant standards. Make sure you pay it a visit, or you will have missed a treat. From the time you arrive, until the time you leave, you are treated 'special', very attentive and friendly, eager to make sure you enjoy, not only the excellent food but the whole experience. Restaurant quality food, in a cozy pub surroundings! Don't be disappointed make sure you book!! Don't let those in the know get all the dining delights!

Visiting locally and wondered in and couldn't be made to feel more welcome by Stephen, Shaun and all the locals, especially Arthur. Never got to try the food as fully booked but looked amazing and Linda has perfected her menu. Hope to be back next year to see you all again!

This wee pub has diversified during lockdown, it has a good reputation for good quality food and during lockdown they are offering a selection of fresh cooked meals that you heat up at home. Great idea a take away that you don't have to race home before it gets cold especially on a Wet and windy evening! We had the Steak and Guinness pie tonight 😋 amazing, it was really tasty, a good portion size and great value for money. I would highly recommend them Thanks Linda, I look forward to coming in when you open

Delicious Sunday lunch served beside the wood burning stove with a view out to sea. We had langoustines and mussels to start and roast beef with all the trimmings for a main. Covid safe, friendly and excellent service. Look forward to another time.

You'll always get a warm welcome at The Strone Inn and Thur-Sun you're guaranteed wonderful homemade food using local ingredients, lovingly made by Linda. It also boasts an extensively stocked gantry! Booking is ALWAYS advised as demand is high, another plus is that well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area. Brilliant local pub!

Great pub , very friendly locals ,and fish & chips are excellent. The only problem now is it has to close for 16 days as national lockdown comes into effect. Good luck , hope all turns out well.

In our normal lives we are not regular pub goers. However since we were on holiday we found that the Strone Inn was the prefect distance for a pit stop on an evening walk. Most evenings we wandered in and found friendly hospitality waiting for us. There was a good range of beers, wines and of course whiskies. The more nights we went the longer we stayed. Sunday night was a really great night with good fun and conversation with the locals. Oh we must mention the ice cream! Oh my goodness it's the best ice cream that we have ever tasted! If you are ever in the area you are guaranteed a warm welcome and a great time!

Sean and Steven are the greatest hosts I've come across in many years. The friendly relaxed atmosphere is a definate draw. The danger is you don't want to leave once ensconced in great company and good beer. We will returnLinda's Sunday lunch is great. Meat choices are local and this is reflected in the high quality of the product. The Roast potatoes are deviously great. Book early to avoid disappointment. In short, hospitality at its best and the locals are very welcoming.

Wonderful little pub by the Loch!

Great food, Great service, run by great people. There is a lovely atmosphere and a dish for everyone. When waiting for my meal i watched other peoples meals being delivered and wished i had ordered them but when my food came i was not disappointed.

We found a lovely house to rent by accident on the coast road Blairmore, about 500m from The Strone Inn.

The bar is small and welcoming with a lovely fire. The restaurant cosy but comfortable. We were made to feel really welcome. Excellent food, with a small but very appealing menu. Emphasis is on fresh local ingredients, and everything home-cooked. We had mussels and smoked trout, with fish and chips, and a bavette cooked rare to absolute perfection. Then home-made icecream which was a dream. Great selection of wine, and overall excellent value for money. Really delighted to have found this quirky local. We will definitely be back.

Whilst hollidaying in Nearby Blairmore , we visited the Inn only to be turned away due to a " Drag " show being on ...we returned the next day but did not feel very welcome .

We went on an evening with wild weather. Was lovely to get inside. Only a small dining area but was busy even though a Thursday night. Lovely short menu. We had Fish and chips / Smoked salmon and they were more than happy to make changes for dietary requirements. We saved space for dessert and we were glad we did. The home made ice cream is the best we have tasted and the pineapple meringue pie was also delicious. Finished off with coffee. Lovely community pub with delicious food. What could be better?

Can't recommend this little Inn highly enough. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic; being warm, welcoming and very entertaining. Our group enjoyed the fish and chips, the balmoral chicken and trout cooked in paper. Every dish was well prepared and was particularly tasty. The food took a little time to be served, however this was explained from the outset and we were given regular updates while we waited. When it arrived it was worth every minute of the wait. The portions were of s good size so we finished off the meal with homemade ice cream which was one of the best I have ever tasted. Rich and creamy. Definitely mustn't be missed. Recomend book ahead as there are only a handful of tables and the food is served between 4 and 9.

Amazing food. The baileys ice cream is a real treat and all homemade. The owner makes a real effort to look after guests and it shows.

Great staff . It's the people who make the difference. Also good beer and a fine selection of Scotland's finest amber water.

From walking in the staff gave a great first impression, small and cosy with lots of charm and sea views to die for. This place has one very good chef or a team of amazing cooks ? Who make proper home made food, so much so me and the family went twice in a week while in the area for holidays, the trout was highly recommended as was the fish and chips and the roast beef on Sunday was amazing everything perfect and then as for ice cream ! This place need to get a sign outside saying the best home made ice cream in the area! so creamy, amazing flavours so much so we tried the baileys, tia Maria, lemon curd, vanilla, salted caramel and when we return we will sure want to try more it was a great find and we will surely be returning again sometime soon, highly recommend this place 20mins from centre of Dunoon with sea views and faultless service.

Visited here whilst staying in Kilmun on holiday and can't recommend it enough. When booking we were asked if we wanted dog friendly or not, on arrival we were given a warm and friendly welcome and taken to our table. We got our drinks within moments and then left to read the menu. Order placed we waited with anticipation for our food and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing! If you are going to be in the area definitely worth booking a table and enjoying a great meal in a lovely restaurant
