Oban Chocolate Company in Argyll & Bute

I mainly bought souvenirs from the chocolate shop. The mini chocolate mountains and chocolate fish’n’chips were a huge hit - Very fun and unique. The cafe was super cute looking. Wish I had more room in my stomach to enjoy the desserts there. EDIT: the quality of the chocolate was a quite poor. Would be better to just leave any souvenirs untouched.

It's a fun assortment just to look at. The chocolate is on the sweeter side, but there is a wide selection and it is delicious.

It was a wet Saturday in September and I was in the area. Based on the great TripAdvisor reviews, I thought I'd pop in for a hot chocolate. It was pretty busy when I arrived, not unexpected for a Saturday, but there are barely any tables, so people were gathering all over the place - it just felt noisy and a bit chaotic. Essentially, it is a shop as well as a cafe, but I expected two distinct areas. I queued for a drink, service was neither friendly or unfriendly, I eventually found a seat in the window. I still had high hopes for a good hot chocolate at this point. But actually, it was quite bland. Not unpleasant, but, for a chocolate factory, it was nothing special at all. Perhaps the chocolate gifts on sale are worth people looking at, but not an enjoyable cafe experience!

Nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. Eat/drink in items are still served in takeaway packaging (difficult to butter a scone using a cardboard knife!) which feels a bit sub par considering it could be a nice experience. Good choices of hot chocolate but no real information on tasting notes of each type (staff also couldn’t comment / advise, but did let me taste the raw callets so I could choose). Chocolates made on site. Great selection of items from bars to truffles etc. geared to tourists I expect. Chocolate is nice but nothing special and sits below the “artisan” bracket for me

What a treat this was in Oban. Gorgeous shop with friendly staff. Lots of chocolate drink options and tasty cakes. Lots of chocolate gift options as well as a large selection of luxury chocolates. Dog friendly too.

Inside this cafe everyone feels smells of taste chocolate: dark, brown, white, milk... All of them! At first you order something, and salesperson gives you a "bell/light". When your order is ready, that light starts flashing!

I visit this cafe everytime I'm in Oban, often multiple times a week. The hot chocolate is incredible and the coffee is also brilliant. They do great decaf! I always tet the gluten and dairy free cakes and they are out of this world delicious. I recommend a seat at the window looking over the bay. The service is always friendly and chatty. Love it. One of Oban's best features IMHO

Basically, just a shop. There was a demonstration happening the following day but nothing was happening when we were there. Also, there were no seats available

Oh, absolutely lovely. Should have left this review months ago, but the chocolate is (of course) to die for, and here I am, still thinking wistfully about the caramel mocha 7 months later. An absolute must for a sweettooth or chocolate lover. Definitely helped that the folks working were just as sweet, very helpful and welcoming.

I was very surprised I have traveled a lot in English-speaking countries with my daughter since she was born we spent a total of 2.5 years in the USA, Canada and UK and they are generally incomparably kind with the people. children. My 7 year old daughter spilled her hot chocolate on the floor (we called the employees to apologize and clean up) and at no time did an employee make a move or offer to make her another chocolate 🫤 first time I see this type of indifference behavior towards a child. Otherwise in terms of food it's very good, there's plenty of choice, the menu is a pleasure, and the atmosphere is cool. There is a lack of space on the other hand, they preferred to put 3 large counters with candies rather than tables.

White hot chocolate is the best I have ever had.. went the next day and was served by a different person and it was exactly the same.(un believable) Very consistent. Well worth a visit :) best in the town definitely

The hot chocolate is amazing with so many variations that you will want to try them all! It was a rainy afternoon, duh, so hot chocolate was a perfect stop. The service was friendly and fast. I will stop back on my home in a week 🤓

I ordered a flat white and a cup of boiling water. It felt like an eternity I had wait. I got charged £1.89 for boiling water which surprised me as I never have at any other shop. The staff appeared slow and disinterested. I ordered the 24 chocolate selection box and some of the best ones aren't in there.

You are very lucky if you got a seat as there were less than 20 seats inside. Chocolate drinks taste good tho.

Dark hot chocolate, cappuccino, strawberry milkshake. All tasted soo good. Baught some chocolate and turkish delight. Very nice. Will go visit again!

Was super excited about returning here after loving it when I visited around 5 years ago. When I walked in there were no other customers waiting to be served. I wasn't greeted by the girl behind the counter but that didn't bother me. I looked at the cakes etc and then made my way to the till. Two ladies walked in and stood behind me and the girl proceeded to ask them for their order even though I was clearly there first. The customers noticed this and asked if I had been served to which I replied no but it was okay for them to go in front of me. I went behind the ladies and waited. While I was waiting two boys walked in and stood at the other side of the till. The girl serving said she would be with me soon. After serving the two ladies she then turned to the two boys and asked for their order. I honestly couldn't believe it. By this point I had been in there for 15 minutes and she had clearly seen me and told me she would be with me soon. I said 'I'm standing right here!' as I just couldn't believe that she had done this twice to me. I then left the shop and went to another place where I was actually seen and served. Shame as I had a great experience the first time round. Definitely won't be trying it again on my next visit.

I've been to this cafe several times over the years and it's definitely not as good. There are notices stating to clear up your takeaway but you are sitting inside. Only cardboard cups. Limited seating and sometimes people linger when they have finished their drinks even though they are aware other people are waiting. Dog friendly which is why we still go. Great coffee and every friendly staff

They didn't have melted chocolate waffles (teardrop), but the melted chocolate brownie and ice cream was really good too. On the way we took advantage and bought 3 bars of chocolate.

A chocolate shop and cafe, I bought a small custom selection of chocolates from a large range of choices. They are really good quality. The on-site cafe is really nice too. And you get a good view of the town and loch.

Excellent hot chocolate, not too rich, not too sweet. The accessory products are also amazing. All the staff were super helpful, friendly and welcoming. A great stop in Oban on a chilly day for something hearty to warm you up.

It was honestly very good but the regret is the disposable tableware: a shame not to have a real cup and real assistance. Otherwise the chocolates are excellent, and the pastries too!

Nice little unique Chocolate cafe / shop. You can order various types of hot chocolate, white mocha and many different milkshakes. It's also a chocolate shop with too many varieties of chocolates available to buy. Cakes and drinks all tasted delicious. Much recommended.

Had a nice latte, the medium was small but was ok. No toilets oddly for a big place. Hot choc was large and nice. Plenty of seating.

Since the shop is a bit inconspicuous from the outside, we almost missed it. From the inside it is a really beautiful chocolate and praline shop with a café. There are various drinks such as milkshakes, cocoa variations, coffee, etc. Ice cream, cakes and waffles are also offered. Nice service and nice decor. It's worth it!

So surprising to find this shop that had delicious chocolates, truffles of all flavors, and the best London Fog I’ve had even from home (USA).

Nice chocolates and hot chocolate, excellent scones. The takeaway packaging, even for customers sitting in, is a bit disappointing. Granted there is limited seating and I'm sure it gets busy over the peak season, but this attitude seems to prioritise convenience over the environmental cost, and while there were specific bins for the different cups, everything else was put into one general bin.

Their ice cream is absolutely fantastic. Tried both the elderflower with gooseberry and the salted caramel. The young staff were helpful, cheerful and friendly too.

Their chocolates are simply delicious and there is an incredible variety of sweet treats to take home as a souvenir of Oban. We took a break to taste their desserts, and we were not disappointed! The desserts were divine, as were the ice creams and milkshakes. We're so glad we followed our instincts and listened to our taste buds! The ambiance of the cafe is also very pleasant, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. It's truly a place where you feel good, whether for a little sweet break or to buy gourmet souvenirs to take home.

A great place to stop for a coffee/tea/hot chocolate. The hot chocolate and cappuccino was good. The strawberry, vanilla scone was one of the best that I have tasted. Lots of yummy specialty chocolates to purchase also.

Great chocolate! The single origin hot chocolates are really good. I'm partial to the whisky trufflee though. The team is nice and happy to have a chat about their products. And on a sunny day, the views can't be beaten. I'm definitely coming back!

We came here many years ago and it has changed. There is so much here. Loads of lovely chocolate. A whole plethora of hot and cold drinks. Variety of different coffee drinks incluing proper decaffeinated, variety of hot chocolate drinks, specialty teas, oh and normal tea. Cakes galore.

This was probably my favourite place in Oban if not Scotland. Got the chai latte and it was otherworldly. Their coconut chai cake was my favourite and I got it twice in the two days I was there. The brownie was decadent! The servers are lovely and the service is very efficient. Having a coffee and a heavenly cake with that view is happiness unmatched. This place is a must visit if you’re in Oban.

Try their hot Cross bun chocolate and you will love it, ❤️ chai latte passable!

So glad we were reccommended a visit to the Chocolate Company whilst staying in Oban. I wanted to try everything but opted for the Mocha which was delicious! My kids had the milkshakes which they also loved, and we bought lots of chocolate to take away and enjoy!

Popped in on the 27th March for chocolates for gifts and for myself. Chocolates are delicious and looked beautiful. However the woman serving I thought was very abrupt and stand offish i returned the next morning to buy some more and disappointingly it was the same woman with the same attitude Again very abrupt. I tried to make light freindly conversation but was ignored I thought she couldn't get us served fast enough and out of her way. It's worth popping in for the chocolates. You hopefully might get a more freindly assistant.

The hot chocolate is very good and I recommend the marmite truffles too. The service is very slow though, and I wasn't impressed by most of the bombones. Overall an ok experience, but pricey and not really the best chocolate.

Always stop here for an americano and some cake. Great coffee and the chocolate is nice too!!

Been to Oban Chocolate shop many times, but this Easter had to use delivery service. All items arrived intact - beautifully and safely packaged. Delivered well within our required time slot. Highly recommend.

The staff here are lovely, and the food and drink in the cafe is fabulous. The carrot cake is particularly good, and the caramel mocha is the most delicious mocha I've ever had. Thank you very much!!

A chocolate lovers dream! The hot chocolate was amazing, and the muffin and peanut/chocolate slab were delicious. My only petty gripe was the fact that the waffles - with which we'd been teased by lots of photos on Google - and which also looked amazing, are only served on certain occasions such as Christmas 😭 Please serve them regularly, or at least at the weekends. We were gutted that, at the end of a long walk, during which time we'd been salivating over the prospect of having a plateful of them each, we found we couldn't have any😱 I'm sure I'll eventually get over my disappointment... but I'll definitely be back!

Just sat down in the sun, back from a trip to the UK, in Germany with a cup of coffee (Espresso Blend) and 2 of your chocolates. Fantastic & Delicious!

I highly recommend going here if you are visiting or passing through Oban! They’ve got a variety delicious drinks, hot chocolates, matcha etc. and a lot of their options can be made vegan as well! There are nice window seats with a lovely view but great to takeaway as well. It also has lots of cute gifts and souvenirs. I kept coming back here during my visit. The perfect place for any chocolate lover.

We had a breakfast of scones and coffee, and I came back for hot chocolate, Turkish delight, ginger cookies dipped in chocolate, and a selection of handmade chocolates. It was all sublime. The berry scone had a tender crumb and was delicious with jam and cream.

This is a super nice a cosy chcoolatiers, serving delicious hot chocolates and scones. Highly recommend the Ghana hot chocolate which was nice and flavourful. The fruit scone was also delicious. However, the chai latte was a little too sweet Overall, we had a lovely experience here! Staff and service are excellent too.

Please note there are no Toilet facilities. (18/10/23). Concerning, if you have young children. Disappointed considering food is served. Lack of tables and chairs inside...Food,and Coffee , pretty average,expensive ,in relation to what is "served" !!...Coupled by rude staff,and slow service...best to try elsewhere.!!!

Lady that we checked out with in the shop area was very abrupt and borderline rude when serving. We had cake when eating in, the famous cherry Bakewell cake was very bland, no marzipan taste whatsoever

Superb it's so big inside,l didn't expect to see chocolates being made by hand by the amazing chocolatiers,what a selection of tasty treats and delicious cakes and scones,we bought some to take home and it was all packaged it boxes.

You are hit with the beautiful aromas of coffee and chocolate upon entering the premises, a beautiful presentation of chocolate assortments, and an inviting café bar. I pondered over a small selection of ice cream flavours, finally deciding on elderflower and gooseberry - which was a surprise to me as I don't usually like elderflower, but after sampling it I had to have it. I ordered a Caramel Mocha Coffee which was prepared beautifully, and tasted just as good. The rest of my party had icecream, and a Dark Mocha, a Tea, and a Rich Milk Hot Chocolate, which was very strong chocolate - to the point that my young guest found it overwhelming, and a staff member kindly weakened it by heating up some plain milk. Overall hands down the best experience if icecream and coffee I've had - thank you and I will return!
