Absolutely wonderful time, beautifully prepared local food - lovely staff and menu in a lovely relaxed setting - Food was first class and so glad we got a table after trying for a number of weeks due to their popularity - highly recommend and hopefully another visit after the second lockdown has finished - Thank you for a lovely evening

Went to the restaurant for a family celebration. We all enjoyed our choices of food. One of the best means I've had for a long time. Friendly service under difficult social distancing guidelines.

Visited here with our two boys, the staff were welcoming, the tables well spaced and the establishment warm (visited too many cold eateries of late). I had the Surf and Turf, my wife the Beef Medallions and my boys (8 & 5) the Mussels and Salmon with Linguine. Every dish was superb, eclipsed everything else we’ve eaten in the village and surrounding eateries over the past week.

Had en evening meal here while staying in the village. Overall an impressive experience. It’s a very small space with about 7 or 8 tables but the menu is extensive, the service slick and the atmosphere contemporary but cozy. The stand outs from our party were the scallops and hogs pudding (local delicacy) starter and the hake main. I had a very tasty crab Thermidor. It may not be the easiest place to get a reservation but it is very worthwhile when you do

UN. BE. LEAVABLE!!! The service was impeccable, completely Covid safe and very friendly. The food, damn! The mushroom and parmesan risotto was our of this world and the super surd and turf was just enormous. The crab thermadour on the super s&t was perfect. Highly recommended and I'd go well out of my way for food of this quality. Great wine list too.

Really delicious seafood, with good specials. Lots of attention to detail and great service. The starter platter was especially good!

Lovely evening, a small restaurant with loads of atmosphere. Hayley (Foh) was great, bubbly and full of life and the food was excellent. You must try the mussels, so large! Fully compliant with the rules of the new normal. Also popped in one morning for a nice coffee.

I have visited the restaurant every year for the last 5 years and every single time it is a real treat. The team are so friendly and helpful and the food is always faultless. I would recommend you try the restaurant at least once in your life as it is truly spectacular!

Booked for lunch and we were greeted by a friendly lady who gave us our table outside. Just had a crab sandwich and my wife a prawn one. Nice food. Nice staff. Couldn’t ask for a lot more.

Lovely atmosphere, nice decor. Hayley is a great host. Devoured the fish cakes and the crumble was the best crumble I’ve ever tasted. Loved the fine crumb on the top. Will definitely be back if visiting the area. Thank you

First visit after Covid reopening. Felt very safe, tables well spaced out, social distancing in place. Lovely lunch, missed Amy who used to cover lunchtime, restaurant was quite busy, and we had attentive service. Not much vegetarian choice, curry or risotto, but as this is mainly a fish restaurant fair enough, but would probably stop me returning too often, would be nice to have more vegetarian choice. Tart tattin pudding absolutely gorgeous.

What a lovely restaurant. We had the best mussels I have ever tasted. And a gorgeous dark chocolate flan. Reasonable prices. A complete delight.

Only called in for drinks but couldn't resist cake and scones. Lovely light scones. Best Earl Grey tea I've tasted. Other people were eating meals including lobster and crab which they reported as delicious. Service was quick and staff very cheerful and pleasant.

Service first class. Starter of scallops, cooked to perfection. Craig had Lobster Thermidorand me Crab Thermidor. I like my sauce separate and they accommodated this request with no fuss. Just slightly disappointed they’re fully booked for the rest of the week otherwise we’d be back like a shot. Well recommended.

I visited Taste with my daughter and granddaughter this evening. We were concerned about bringing my young (14 month old) granddaughter for dinner but everyone was so kind and thoughtful. Everything was beautifully presented and so good to eat. My daughter chose the duck and for me, when in Cornwall, it has to be fish so I went for the hake fillet with a seafood risotto. We shared afugato amaretto for dessert which was perfectly light for us. Thank you to the chef(s) for your splendid skills.

beautiful food, excellent accommodating service. Couldn't say a bad word about it. Went wanting the surf & turf however it was unavailable, understandably offering a slightly reduced menu due to Covid-19 so tried the lobster instead. And some scallops to start.Everything tasted fresh and hot, and was extremely speedy. Missed out the first time we visited St agnes as we spotted it late, but made sure it was on our list this year. Keep it up, will be back

Another great dinner at Taste. Cannot believe you could get better anywhere. Lovely staff and ambience.

I am not a great fish eater but still managed to find a delicious meal and my friend was very happy with her crab. Fab desserts too and very friendly and warm service. Thank you for the extra birthday touches, too.

We went to Taste for Valentine's dinner. Food was absolutely amazing. Every course was outstanding. Service was excellent- the perfect balance between friendly yet professional. The evening meal was lovely. We have been many times and we are never disappointed. Very reasonable in price as well for the quality of the food.

Our nephew booked this for supper the night before we returned home after a week in West Britain with Storm Dennis!Our first visit to this lovely restaurant - passed it by many times but never given it a second look! Our loss!! Lovely feel when you walk through the door the staff were friendly and helpful. There were twelve of us, they made an exception to accommodate us all. Much appreciated.I started with Scollops and Hogs Pudding, followed by 3 Fish & Shell Fish Risotto - Sadly, no She’ll Fish in mine! none the less it was very nice and rounded off with Pear Tartan and ice cream. I do make a good Fruit Tartan myself so it needs to be good!Fabulous evening, will do it again.

Visited Taste for my Sisters birthday with family and what a great experience. Nothing was too much trouble and food was very good. Will certainly add to my must go again places to visit.

The waitress was fantastically friendly and polite. Big let down on the food as chicken was chewy and fries were cold and limp.

Visited as a group of 5 and we all had 3 courses. All of us could not find fault with this lovely restaurant. The food was sumptuous with an interesting menu and specials board. The atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. The service was excellent. When we are back in Cornwall we will definitely visit again.

Our “special” last night meal in St Agnes. A surprisingly lively restaurant with a mix of local folk and end of season visitors. Not the fine dining experience we were expecting but no less enjoyable for it. Would certainly recommend.

Wonderful find. Great choice even for kids, food was fantastic, great choice, we all thoroughly enjoyed are meal. We will be back when we're next in Cornwall.

We wanted to try st.agnes for lunch and stumbled across Taste. We where sold when we saw they did crab sandwich’s so had to go in

Was recommended Taste as a venue for a birthday meal by our host and it did not disappoint. Booked as soon as we arrived in St Agnes to make sure we could get a table for 5 midweek. Wasn't a problem but would recommend booking as soon as possible, as it is very popular. We arrived alittle early but the staff were great and acoomodated us promptly. The dishes all came with very little waiting time and everyone in our party agreed that all of the starters and meals chosen were exceptional. Highly recommend the Lobster!!

Found this little gem last year and had to go again this year while in the area as l have been dreaming about the crab thermidor all year! Food was fantastic as was the service. Being a creature of habit all l have tried is the crab thermidor, but my husband had the mussels and the seafood linguine. Daughter had fish and chips. We were all very impressed with our meal and cocktails were lush too!! Highly recommend this place

I am a little biased as we live locally but still I have to say this gem of a restaurant never fails to deliver well prepared tasty food. The menu is well designed ensuring a varied choice allowing the chef to cook everything from scratch from some of the best local ingredients ( my lobster was Devine ) . The staff are friendly helpful and a credit to the establishment . The pre dinner special cocktails are a delight with a good choice of wines . Book early in the busy periods it’s a popular destination .

Friendly, well organised restaurant in the village of St Agnes. Food well executed and whilst not an extensive or adventurous menu, it was good.

We left it far too late to book anywhere for our last night in St Agnes, but managed to get a last-minute cancellation at this gorgeous gem! Having left a message someone called me back straight away offering me a table, early doors, but a table nonetheless. The restaurant is tiny, with approx 30 covers and decorated in cool laid-back greys and scrubbed pine tables. The menu is simple and classic with many fish options and great specials. Crab thermidor, classic moules frites and their special surf and turf commanded immediate attention. The dessert menu is fairly special too, and I particularly loved the section headed ‘boozy desserts and cocktails’. Staff were incredibly friendly with just the right degree of attention. Will definitely go there again next time we’re in town.

We ate here last week after I read the reviews. The food was lovely. I had Surf and Turf- 2 steaks, prawns,mussels,and scallops, all cooked perfectly. My daughter had fishcakes and my husband had the lobster which they enjoyed. Fab meal and very enjoyable night. The girls serving were very friendly and efficient.I can't think of any improvements except maybe a fan for the restaurant as it became very hot?

Had the big steak, Lobster, prawns and scallops plate. All beautifully cooked, the stir fry veg was a perfect accompanyment. No room for anything else. The girls were just so friendly and attentive. Couldn't fault anything.

A lovely modern-feeling small restaurant to which we’d definitely return if we weren’t going home :(. Turned out to be a quiet lunchtime but best to phone ahead as space can’t be relied upon. We loved all our food which we reckon is reasonably priced, especially for the fish dishes. (I didn’t check for variations between lunch and evening prices.) Service was personal, friendly and efficient allowing us to have a very leisurely lunch.

Taste was recommended by our accommodation's owner as well as being #1 on TA, but looked unassuming from outside and we thought we might be disappointed after the hype. We weren't!

My husband and I managed to get a late booking for a table at Taste. I had lobster thermidor and he had the surf and turf which was incredible. The fillet steak was one of the best I have tasted. Wonderful food, wonderful hosts and lovely ambiance. We will be back..... x

We booked this restaurant in advance as it sounded wonderful. Lovely cute room very clean but not atmospheric at all. A small restaurant and with the tables very close together. A large group could dominate the entire room. Staff were very nice girls. My crab was tasty but sadly the salad was tasteless and my fries were limp and anaemic looking. The desserts were quite good and I liked the bread and olives as an aperitif. Some low background music would have been lovely. All in all a nice place but not sure at the prices charged if I would return

Lovely little restaurant on the Main Street. Visited as looked great and had great reviews and also was dog friendly at lunchtime.

If I could give this restaurant more stars, I would. We went to the restaurant on Sunday to celebrate a friend's birthday and were treated to a fabulous roast lunch. The food was cooked to perfection and the presentation superb. Service was extremelynfriendly and efficient. We were so impressed that we booked a table for our last evening at Taste. Again they did not disappoint. Fabulous food and drink, I would highly recommend Taste in St Agnes.

The food here is absolutely wonderful! Quick service with the drinks and lovely waiting staff. Very homely restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I had the surf and turf which was great and everyone else had the lobster, so glad we made a trip here!

One of the reasons we were happy to return to St Agnes for a holiday was the chance to revisit Taste. The fact that in a week we visited twice confirms we were not disappointed, rather absolutely delighted that it remains as good as if not better than we remembered. We were lucky to enjoy a superb roast on Sunday (they are normally now closed on Sunday and Monday) and then again on Friday night. Others have reviewed the food and we endorse them all - for us it is the ambience and welcome offered by the owners and their staff - their warmth and hospitality, the small touches that make this a true gem, do go!

Another lovely evening at this excellent restaurant. Our hake with crab and lobster risotto mains were exceptional, even by Taste’s high standards. Service was as friendly and efficient as ever, and both food and wines offer great value for money.

Our first but not last visit. Nice ambience on arrival and very warm friendly hosts. Proper linen napkins, quality cutlery and glassware etc and a nice selection of wine and beer.

We were recommended Taste and it was worth a visit. A varied menu plus a specials board. The service was excellent too.

We eat here several times when we visit St Agnes every April and September. The food is amazing and the team are lovely and friendly. Look forward to returning in September.

Food quality exceptional with good wine choices, the staff are all amazing and friendly . As for value for money yes dinning out is not without cost however this establishment is well worth every penny . Back again soon !!

This is a good restaurant and well worth a visit if in St Agnes. It is quite small and contemporary with artwork from local artists displayed. Value wise it was average. Service was good. Food was good. Nothing to grumble about.

Wait time a bit too long but worth it because everything is locally sourced and cooked to order so come here for a delicious bite but not when you're in a rush.

Another great meal tonight. Been to Taste with same friends a dozen or so times and loved it every time. Nice atmosphere, tasty, well-presented food with a varied menu, excellent staff. We live ooop north and look forward to coming here every time we visit.

We had heard so much about Taste restaurant so looked forward to having some really creative and tasty food. We tried it twice just in case we had got it wrong but we were just not blown away and felt there was no Wow factor. I wanted to be able to give a really good review as the service was superb and really friendly but I just felt underwhelmed by what I ate. The last time I had mussels first which were ok although a couple tasted not quite fresh enough and the sauce needed boosting with fish stock , mussel stock and white wine or similar - it just tasted like creamy water. The sea bass I had next was ok but I felt it probably was frozen had been precooked and heated up in the micro wave. Perhaps it had and its not a crime but it meant the skin was slimy and unpleasant and slightly tainted the taste of the dish.Its hard not to come to Cornwall and expect fresh fish but I can see as a restauranter unless you are charging huge amounts its just not going to be fresh. But pan fried with crispy skin would have been good. However, the time we went before I had Crab Thermidore and I thought that was tasty and good. My partner had pigeon to start and what a pity it was not again pan fried - the outside had no skin on and was a bit slimy. Its on nearly there but not quite ...... yet. Nice Menu too.

This was our third venture to this lovely restaurant, but it won't be our last. We came here this time from our home which is about thirty miles by road, just to eat here as the weather was too awful to look around this quaint village (the church is worth a visit too).

Had a very nice lunch with our son and daughter. Food is freshly cooked and very tasty. Friendly, quick service without pressure. Limited parking - however, 150yds away a public car with an 'honesty box' How refreshing in this day and age.

I have been here many times it’s rare to be able to say we have never had a bad experience here . The food is locally sourced prepared and cooked by an excellent chef and team , the food hits the spot every time . Portions are generous particularly the Sunday roast when they are doing it I can’t recommend the Sunday roast highly enough . They always have a good choice of food to satisfy all tastes meat / fish / Veggie lovers. The staff are friendly with a real desire to ensure you have a great experience. As for value for money it’s worth every £ twice over.

Coming from New Zealand where there is a VERY strong coffee culture Taste more then lived up to its name. Their menu had plenty of forethought put in to it and showed when presented. Full marks to TASTE.

This gem of a restaurant never fails to deliver , fine dining food n a cosy setting with attentive professional friendly staff. Evening meal or lunch the food is of exceptional quality with local soured ingredients . And the price exceptional VFM. O and a great wine list Gavi is our favourite .

We've visited this restaurant twice, once in sept 2017 and then again this Dec (2018). I was concerned on returning that it wouldn't be as good as I remembered, but it did not disappoint. Excellent menu, superb cooking, great service and a lovely comfortable setting. We're not from St Agnes, we just visit once a year, I eat out a lot for work at lots of great restaurants but this is genuinely one of my favourites in the country. I look forward to our next visit. I'd recommend the mussels!

This is my second time here. Have had two fantastic meals. The food is beautifully cooked and presented. Have had great wine on both occasions. The staff are lovely.

We popped in here in on the off chance for dinner on Friday night, we were very glad we did. Great customer service very friendly and lovely food. Menu choices for both adults and children were very good and everything we ordered was delicious. Can’t fault anything, we will definitely be booking a table here in the future.

First visit to this restaurant today and will definitely be back. Food is excellent and Hayley our waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Visited a couple of years ago and was very impressed then so returned with some friends. The food is exceptional and features a lot of fish but there are several meat dishes and vegetarian options. Scallops with hogs pudding beautifully cooked and melted in the mouth. Lobster Thermidor was on the specials and 2 of us had this. At £16.50 was a bargain. All desserts was delicious especially chocolate and pear tart with salted caramel ice cream.

We went to book a table about a week before we were due to be in St Agnes and managed to get an 8:45 slot. Very popular! Giving out 8:45 slots is a sign of a helpful owner. Most places don’t like starting a meal at that time as it is late by the time the sitting is finishing, so thank you to Taste for that.

2nd time to Taste, went last year also and thoroughly enjoyed both times. The staff are lovely and friendly and always helpful. Lovely small family run business, fab food at an affordable price. Look out for the lovely pictures by local artists they have on their walls too.

This is our 3rd visit and it is as good as ever. The standard of their food is excellent and consistent and the owner and her colleague are both very friendly and helpful. The starter of Smoked Salmon with a Cream Crab and Caper salad was delish, best smoked salmon we've ever had. We had Roast Beef with all the trimmings followed by Pear & Chocolate Tart and the Cheese Board. It was a lovely, relaxing lunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed. See you when we are next back in St Agnes next Spring.

We had a gorgeous dinner here this evening. Both enjoyed staters of fish cakes, and Brie and caramelised onion tart. Both enjoyed mains of hake, and fish cakes. Delicious bottle of French Sauvignon Blanc. Great staff, lovely service.

After 4 years of trying we finally managed to get to Taste to celebrate my wife's birthday. Interior was nice and staff excellent & attentive. Whilst perusing the menu we were brought a selection of bread/oil & a small bowl of marinated olives, garlic & tomato which was v nice and polished off with gusto. Drinks selection was selection of bottles of local ales at not to extravagant prices. Good selection of soft drinks, my wife enjoyed the elderflower. Biggest disappointment was my food. My wife only had the main course of Chicken Supreme which was nicely presented and tasty. I decided to go the full monty and had 3 courses and whilst all 3 were OK they could have been so much better.

What can I say other than this is a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxed 10 out of 10 meal. The service is extremely efficient and friendly, The food is beautifully presented, tastes wonderful and does not break the bank. It's not often you can choose both scallops and Lobster without taking out a second mortgage, but you can here. Just make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment. Thank you for making our wedding anniversary meal out so pleasurable

It is our first time holidaying in St Agnes and our first visit to Taste a nd it will not be our last. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and very well trained and the restaurant itself is bright and welcoming. Add this to an excellent wine list and reasonable prices and how could we resist booking again.

I cannot praise this little restaurant enough. The service was fast, the food was perfect and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.

We have been eating here almost every month for nearly 3 years so we are very well qualified to comment that Taste has everything a really good restaurant should have - consistently great food with lots of daily specials, super staff (thanks Amy and Hayley), a good and reasonably priced wine list, it is small and friendly and not at all pretentious. We just love Taste for its authenticity and honesty and truly great food - just go (but book) you will not be disappointed!

The restaurant was full when we went, but they arranged for us to sit outside at the front which was fine. You need to ring up and book in advance, they seem very busy and popular and there aren’t many tables. The service and food was really nice. There’s a few vegetarian options, I’d recommend the coconut curry. It’s reasonably priced for somewhere which is so nice.

Just lovely service all the way, so welcoming, which added the overall affect of this lovely restaurant. The food was very good and really good value. Loved the Potted Crab.

Just returned from a fortnight in St Agnes during which we visited 'Taste' twice.

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere - quite intimate but yet lively and fun.

Very good menu with interesting food choices. Staff were friendly and service was very efficient.it was a bit cramped for room but I would definitely recommend taste as an up market venue.

Ate here one evening during a short break.This is a small establishment in the town centre which has a contemporary feel. The food was excellent, reasonably priced and the staff were attentive and friendly. It's very popular so you may not get in without booking. We would have eaten there again but there was no table available on the night in question.

My husband and I came for dinner for my birthday, wow! What a treat! Started with a cocktail, which was light and refreshing. Our meal was utterly delicious! This was my third visit here but now only getting to do a review! The food was absolutely amazing. We had a 3 course meal and we got a complimentary bread and oil/vinegar with olives which was a lovely touch. Staff were v helpful and friendly without being intrusive. We booked well in advance as we holidaying. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant was pleasantly decorated. The menu was varied and not over complicated. We had scallops and fish cakes for starters and beef medallions and sea bass with lobster and tomato risotto, they were all well cooked and very tasty. From the outside it’s looks a small unassuming place but inside its was homely and friendly. If ever we are in the neck of the woods again we shall certainly pop in

We visted Taste during a family holiday to Cornwall. The Restaurant is lovely quality without being the slightest bit pretentious. We were welcomed by very relaxed, well informed staff, the ambience fitted in with this too. Food choice from the menu and specials board along with guidance from our waitress made choosing easy. The star of this particular evening seemed to be my husbands choice of "surf and turf" this included: steak, lobster, king prawns, mussels, scallops and vegetables, a beautifully presented plate at what we thought was a good price of £35.00. He said it was one of the best meals he had eaten. A really fabulous restaurant that we look forward to returning to.
