Food was very bad. So much for following halal ethics!

Sinceramente, cada vez que he estado aquí ha sido puntual. Sin quejas, si no estoy contento con algo (y soy quisquilloso) el personal lo resolverá. Recomendaría encarecidamente este restaurante. Aparte del increíble asado de domingo, que he tenido varias veces, recomendaría encarecidamente el pastel de cangrejo.

Would not recommend. Ignore social media hyping this place up. I’ll start with the positive. Parking available outside. Mature blonde lady a lovely hostess, friendly good banter. Decor is nice. I’ve visited a couple of times before and food has been average at best. Last visit however was extremely disappointing. Waited a long time for the food to come out when it eventually arrived my steak was aweful so I left it uneaten, the quality of meat was poor, it was cooked badly and inedible. Waitress insisted on getting the chef to cook it a little more, it came back out worse than it had gone in. I did not eat any of it however was still charged for it. Whole meal was below average. Lamb shank tasted old/off. Would not recommend to anyone. There are plenty of better options to try.

Well i have tried their halloumi lamb chops and lamb shank Everything is so good and tasty But as an asian we need more spices on lamb shank but over all its nice fresh and tasty

First of all I was greater by a really friendly member of staff that treated me like I was in her own home, it’s rare to come across that kind of warmth these days. Secondly, I was skeptical ordering a beef bourguignon that was made without wine and lardons due to being a halal restaurant, but I was very surprised on its authenticity. How the chef has managed to mimick the wine taste, I do not know and it’s just short of genius. The texture of the sauce is different to what I’ve had previously but the flavour of the sauce and the tenderness of the slow cooked beef would be ranked upon one of the best I’ve eaten, and believe me, I’ve eaten my fair share of beef bourguignon’s in France due to it being one of my all time favourite dishes. It is miles beyond what is served at other places in the city like Côte brasserie. This isn’t just a halal substitution, but instead just the better option, but I am grateful there is now this option for me to access for my biggest guilty pleasure. The dish is served with dauphinoise potato, which although is not the traditional way potatoes are presented in this dish, was a pleasant accompaniment and definitely appeals to brummies. The plating was also well very well thought out. It is difficult to make stew-type dishes look good. The onion, mushrooms and microgreens were styled with care. There are many good restaurants in Birmingham, but not many restaurants with dishes cooked by great chef’s that have a clear passion and talent for food. My whole group finished their plates. I have absolutely no criticisms and I look forward to coming again.

My husband and I have visited here a few times and always had a lovely time so we had a family meal here last night for my husband's 50th birthday. As always the staff are so kind and the food was amazing. We had a variety of dishes between us all and everybody left their plates clean. Thanks so much to everyone who looked after us.

Last month September, My friend and I had dinner, lovely warm environment. We ordered the lamb special and mash for main and drink but the highlight of the day was the dessert the Pitaschio Cheesecake….jezzz that tasted heavenly. It is the best dessert I have ever tasted in my life… drooling as I am typing this again😃😃 I give it 💯 ❤️love it so much. Would surely be back there again for that only if I may🤣

I really can’t understand how people reviewed this restaurant and given 5 star!!! I recently dined at Taragon restaurant, and it was an incredibly disappointing experience. After waiting over half an hour for our drinks, we still had to wait for children’s drinks. After another half hour When the food finally arrived, it was poorly managed: one dish came after 10 minutes, while the others trickled in much later. The food was basic and lacked flavor; the steak was tough and overcooked, despite being ordered medium. The mushroom sauce we requested for £3 was a pathetic amount, barely enough to cover the dish. It was a liquid with no mushroom and very basic like a normal dip for £3!!! The prices for everything were outrageous, with a simple lemonade costing £5.25 and tasting flat. When we tried to leave, the waitress pushed for dessert, I didn’t want to order but because children heard and wanted, we reluctantly ordered. Another lengthy wait followed, again two dessert came and we had to wait for 15 mins for another one when we asked and no one knew about it!!! And again they asked what we want and when the desserts finally arrived, they were underwhelming—just basic ice cream scoops that looked cheap and messy. Overall, we spent over £100 for a meal that was far from enjoyable. The atmosphere was dark and uninviting. I won’t be returning to Taragon.

Me encanta la oferta especial del viernes por la noche (£ 20 para una selección de entrante, principal y desierto) Teníamos la ensalada halloumi Caesar, pollo estragón, hamburguesa de ternera sucia y posset de limón. Todo cocinado muy bien, bien condimentado y sabroso. El personal era muy amable. El restaurante es BYOB que mantiene los costos bajos. Sin duda comeremos aquí de nuevo.

A very nice rustic place where the meat is cooked to perfection. The waitress whose name I don’t know was amazing and ever so sweet. Our food was a steak and a rack of lamb. Both were cooked exactly how we wanted them. The mash I had was slightly salty but with the steak tasted great. Would definitely come again.

We had an exceptional dining experience at Tarragon Bistro. The sirloin steak with dauphinoise potatoes was a highlight of the evening, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The ribeye steak was equally impressive, tender and juicy, complemented beautifully by the beef and peppercorn sauces. Fantastic good, fantastic service. Lamb shank was amazing was so tasty and well cooked. Staff was lovely and very friendly. Was greated with a very welcoming staff. Will definitely be coming back.

A family favourite! Been several times since Tarragon opened and the food is always cooked to perfection! A lovely atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. At our most recent visit, we had a large party of 11, including 2 children. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. We tried most things on the menu, steak, duck, mussels, Portuguese cod, black angus burgers and the kids had grilled chicken and a beef burger. Everything tasted delicious! We'll be back soon!

Si hubiera una opción para no añadir una estrella lo haría. Desde la entrada al restaurante todo estaba bien, sin embargo al recibir la comida a mí y a mi amigo no nos gustó. La comida sabía mal y no fresca. Le explicamos esto al camarero y sacó a un hombre de la cocina que creo que era el propietario - Primero preguntó 'si alguna vez habíamos comido esta comida antes? ' Luego nos preguntó por qué no nos gustaba. Encontré esto extremadamente vergonzoso cuando todos en el restaurante comenzaron a mirarnos mientras él se estaba volviendo discutidor y comenzó a gritar. Al dar nuestras razones dijo que todavía tendríamos que pagar la cuenta. Brilliant food and great service

We visited Tarragon Bistro for the first time last week. What an experience this was. The food was amazing and the service was first class. We felt very looked after from the moment we walked in. The meals are very reasonably priced and you can take your own wine. Thank you for a fabulous evening and the best cheesecake we have ever tasted!

Visited this place a few weeks ago and did not regret it. Situated in Hall Green a very cosy restaurant which I will say I feel is aimed more at couples and group diners as opposed to families with young kids, however the food did not disappoint! The night we went they also had a special “date night” offer which consisted of a starter, main and dessert for a price that equated to the price of normal main so really good value there. We however went as a group and got a variety of dishes as we really wanted to try out the breadth of the menu. Starters were good portion sizes, I will say I wasn’t overly keen on the scallops and I did feel the crab cake could’ve done with a more punchy flavour but the lamb chops were on point and good size. Mains I ordered the duck l’orange (all meats halal) which you hardly ever find halal duck anywhere and believe me it was delectable. Steaks were also cooked very well. Desserts sticky toffee pudding was my fave, crème brûlée had a nice crack, do feel the coconut and pistachio cheesecakes were a bit bland however. Service was slow on the night however upon bringing this to the hostess attention she explained that two members of staff had called in sick and could only apologise which is fair enough. For takeaway I got a tomahawk steak 🥩 and again very good quality, only marking down as the veg was missed out of my takeaway 😔 but all in all a very nice evening out, would recommend 👍

Very nicely decorated place for a restaurant! The starter (halloumi salad) was nice, salad dressing was tangy but still tasty. The chicken from the chicken Tuscan was unfortunately a little raw/ undercooked so it had to be sent back to be cooked further but I was unable to finish the rest of the chicken, which unfortunately has affected this review. There were 2 people on the table that this had happened to. The dessert was delicious (sticky toffee pudding) and I was happy with this, very filling. The decor was definitely different, inviting and quirky. The staff that were serving us were lovely. Shame about the chicken!

I attended this restaurant with my family for the first time as a last minute dinner plan. Both the service and the attention to detail was fantastic! Both ladies who served us were lovely and went the extra mile to make our evening as nice as possible. We all had the “ Friday date night” which was reasonably priced and was honestly amazing! I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back!

A vwry good homemade humouse as a great starter. Lovely food and a great pina colada. The steak was really nice and just to my liking and the portions are reasonable prices are not bad at all. Friendly waitress rachel i think her name was if im not mistaken.atmosphere is nice. The coconut and pistachio cheescake is very nice not too heavy the icecream can improve it tastes very cheap and frozen to the max. The greek lamb chops were really nice

A Fantastic meal once again. Lovely staff. Male chef with the tattoos- great attention to detail. He noticed we needed a finger bowl/ additional steak knife. Steak cooked perfectly, medium rare and tasted phenomenal with the triple cooked chips and sides. Food as always spot on and great pricing. Presentation beautiful as always. Took the pistachio cheesecake home as it is delicious. Will be back to try other items on the menu!

I visited Tarragom Bistro yesterday and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the kind and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We tried the roast dinner, lamb chops, and halloumi salad, and each dish was spot on. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. It’s clear that the chef is incredibly talented and has a genuine passion for food, which shines through in every bite. The staff are really attentive and kind. Me and my family love this place. One of the best halal Sunday roasts in the city. Compliments to the kitchen team and the front of house.

Been wanting to visit here for ages so delighted there was a table free for a Fathers Day dinner. Good varied menu, including separate one for children. Husband went for the prawns for starters with the rest of use sharing the bread and dips. For mains, 3 of use opted for the absolutely delicious mushroom and halloumi burger with my husband enjoying the Moule. For pudding, my husband and I shared the large chocolate dessert. All food was great and service was swift and friendly. This place doesn't sell alcohol but you can bring your own with you ( there is a Waitrose across the road) Highly recommended.

I have been in this restaurant since day one. The food is every day improving and it as always been amazing. The staff is always smiling and always ready to help customers. This is what a restaurant should provide and Tarragon is spot on! I will definitely come back!

French food isnt for me, no flavours in any of the meals beef or chicken. Starters were OK fries was the best thing there, service was good. But personally it was way too bland

An absolute hidden gem. My wife had the crab fish cake as starters and I had scallops. Mains were steak and chicken dish - Absolutely delicious. Staff were lovely and attentive. Can’t fault this place. Oh , if you get a chance , try the Pistachio cheesecake - light and fluffy - was star of the show . We can’t wait to get back . Very reasonably priced as well. Well done Tarragon team . Highly recommended .

We had the prawn salad and crab cake as starters and Portuguese cod, rack of lamb and mushroom pasta. The food is at Michelin star standard. Very good priced highly recommend this rssturant. The 2nd chef is outstanding in his cooking amazing food.

Been coming here since it first opened. I always get the sunday lunch, the lamb is so succulent. the beef is perfectly peppered and the chicken is good! The lamb shank is also pretty special! love the bread and butter pudding too. The food is alwyas pleasant. I just wish portion size was a tad bigger, for the price.

I had noticed this establishment but hadn’t really given it much thought. My sister suggested going in for dinner as it was her birthday. The decor was tasteful and the lady was very welcoming. We decided on Portuguese Cod, Tuscan Chicken and Wild mushroom tagliatelle, there was a a bit of a wait but well worth it. The food was hot and fresh and really scrummy. We were all very happy with our meals. We had brought a birthday cake with us which the lady very kindly brought to the table with our drinks and sang Happy birthday’ to my sister. I can’t wait to go back and make sure I have room for a desert!

What an amazing place, this was my second visit and it was my friends birthday. The food and service was above and beyond, the food literally melted in my mouth. Rachel aka Ruhila served us and even sang happy birthday and my friend's cake was on the house which was such a kind gesture. We even met the chef who recognised me from my last visit, this place is amazing for families, couples, friends and all. Such a warm ambiance and mouthwatering food which is of quality and flavoursome. I will definitely be going back as I want to try everything on the menu.

Beautiful bistro setting with delicious food and fantastic customer service! We have eaten here on a few occasions and every single time the food and service has been excellent. It’s clear to see the chef and the whole team a tarragon take real pride in what they do. Will be back again for sure.

Another delicious meal from Tarragon Bistro. I would definitely recommend to family and friends. Great food, great service and atmosphere, and not too pricey. This was my second visit here. I enjoyed it so much the first time, I booked in for my Mother's Day family meal. You can take your own wine too.

I am sick of eating Burgers and Bips all the time. The food places in Birmingham are quite bad and generally the PITS. However, this place offers nice food at reasonable prices. The place is decorated decently and is okay. The food is also well made and they have taken time to plate your food 🥘. The service from the staff is very good and friendly, however it wasn’t that busy when I went there. It has to be tested when the place is fuller. The place could do with some nicer menus and a the bathroom areas could do with and overhaul. I would recommend to check this place out if you want to eat a real meal. Nice flavours to the food. If you want fries 🍟 or chips with chilli sauce and drowned in mayonnaise please 🙏 stay away 😉.

I would just like to inform everyone if you enjoy fresh amazing food and you know what good food is I will highly recommend this restaurant. This is not for people who do not know the difference between fresh and frozen, please stay away because your reviews are embarrassing. 10/10 an absolute delightful Sunday lunch with husband.

Dined here a few years back and the food was super! So was looking forward to our roasts dinners yesterday and was very disappointed. Firstly the vegetables( roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, were so dehydrated and chewy, Yorkshires and stuffing were dry like just cooked from frozen. The chicken was also dry and after driving hours we were very hungry we didn't feel it was worth complaining. Our food felt like it was cooked days ago, reheated and served up. 2 small pieces of scallops were delicious but for £8.95!!! Sticky toffee pudding was gorgeous and drinks were refreshing though shame about the rest of the food as we left hungry, however service was exceptional 👌 the decor and facilities were clean and accommodating.

I took my wife out tonight who never pays for a meal. Anyway we decided to try out this place and it was 10 out of 10. The Atmosphere, the staff and especially the food which was really great and very tasty. Definitely coming here again.

We were introduced to the amazing chef who walked us through the menu. He was obviously very proud of every dish he creates, especially having won awards for his culinary skills. The menu had something to suit all, including my vegetarian friend, who raved about the holloumi mushroom burger. The triple cooked chips were like nothing I'd ever seen or tasted before and I'm pretty well travelled. Thelma and I had the tarragon cream chicken. We asked for additional veg not on the menu and these were served with no problem and were delicious. The chicken and sauce were both plentiful and succulent. Then came the desserts, OMG, every mouthful was a tease on the tastebuds, simply fantastic. We were able to relax and enjoy our wine which we were able to bring along ourselves as they're not licensed, always a bonus. The decor, music and ambience all added to the experience and the customer service was second to none. The bill was the biggest shock, it was extremely reasonable for such fabulous meals. Unbelievable. We will definitely be back as soon as we're able. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. Very much looking forward to seeing you again.

A great little restaurant, we went for Sunday lunch and all agreed it was the best we had ever had, a bonus that you can take your own drink as well. Food was piping hot and service excellent a little hidden jem well worth a visit

Just had the pleasure of visiting the tarragon. Absolutely delightful. Shanoor was a fabulous waiter with nothing but smiles and such a wonderful sense of customer service, he really couldn’t do enough for us. I had the halloumi burger and triple cook fries which was fantastic. The sticky toffee pudding really was one of the best I have ever tasted. We had to compliment the chef Sadek who came out to see us. Again wonderful customer service he chatted to us telling us about his award winning desert ( which was fabulous I had a bite of a family members) I really can’t recommend them enough. Special birthday visit for my wife, and what a wonderful experience it was. The host / waiter was attentive and kind, the ambience relaxed and calm, few other diners present with a large party but was no sweat for the restaurant. The owner came out to meet us all which was a wonderful touch, and we were able to have a conversation about the menu and the business which I had only known about through my wife / YouTube reviews. Supreme food, I had the lamb shank, lovely large portion, my wife had the tarragon fish and cream sauce I think. Will definitely return, for the Sunday roast experience!

Quaint independent steakhouse. Food was above par and portion sizes were above adequate. We ordered: 1 x Fillet steak 1 x Ribeye steak Mash and dauphinoise potatoes as additionals Selection of Tapas Personally, I struggled to finish my main due to the large steak and portion size of the vegetables/additionals. Service was excellent provided by Zeeshan. Would be returning.

What a great restaurant. It's the 2nd time I have eaten here and it does not disappoint. A really varied menu made by a talented Chef and sous chef. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside. Lovely staff...all round a great restaurant for any occasion.

What a gem of a place! Me and my wife came here for the first time and it definitely won't be the last! It's no wonder the chef has won awards! We had wagyu steak with triple cooked chips , tuscan chicken, lamb chops, scallops, pistachio cheesecake and creme brule. Everything was amazing! And I mean everything! The pistachio cheesecake that the chef created really stood out the most for me. The quality , presentation, service and food here is just many levels above the rest. Some dishes are bit pricier, only because they are extremely premium ingredients such as wagyu, but mostly, it's a bargain when you realise the level of cooking and effort that goes in to these dishes! Will be back soon. Inshaallah.

This was a very nice place. As it is halal a lot of Muslim families come here. However one problem is that a lot of the items are out of stock near closing time so make sure you come earlier. I will always remember this place as it is where I first ever had octopus and it was very nice. Served with baby carrots and sliced potatoes. I do recommend it if you like a rubbery texture which tastes like the ocean. The sauce makes it even better. It says that it is spicy but trust me you barely feel it. A small part of the menus is only available from Tuesday to Saturday so I recommend coming in that timespan. The desert is very nice might I add and I especially recommend the sticky toffee pudding. In conclusion I do recommend it but make sure you come around midday or expect a lot of the menu to be out of stock.

A friend booked a meal & what a huge suprise. This place is an an absolute gem. It beats many of the high dining places I've been too. The presentation and quality of food was very high. Service faultless. Definitely on my favourite list.

Atmosphere is lovely and the host is amazing

These guys know how to do good food. Steaks are really nice as are the lamb chops with their unique mint sauce.

Delicious food, makes such a change from the usual burgers in Birmingham. Classy and flavourful. The Portuguese cod is my favourite! We also had sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate dessert that were lovely. Tapas was great too. The cheesy croquettes and patatas bravas were amazing!

Just had another delicious meal with friends at Tarragon. They never disappoint and the coconut cheese cake is a must.

Delicious and good value for money. We have visited this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. Must try their coconut cheesecake which is my favourite dessert.

Lovely little quiet place, retro look. Food was decent it was a little bland for my liking but all in all it was ok.

This place was a pleasant surprise, it's a retro old fashion style and feel which I liked, the staff were lovely and the food was absolutely delicious, had the lamb roast and chicken breast they were different in style and taste and must say I enjoyed them. Price was decent as well so overall a great experience.

We have been here a few times now and enjoy the atmosphere and of course, the food. The chef is brilliant, every course was delicious. I highly recommend the Greek Lamb Chop starter and to leave room for dessert. The Creme brulee and the bread and butter pudding were perfection.

What a hidden GEM! Took the family out for my wife's birthday and had an amazing culinary experience. Wagyu steak with genuinely complimentary touches (such as knobs of garlic butter, portobello mushrooms, kale, grilled tomatoes, shallots and a peppoercorn sauce to die for! We also had the chicken wings, lamb chops and giant cod fingers with chips for the kids. I went for the triple-fried chips and they were both huge and delicious! For dessert, we went for gelato ice cream for the kids, Crème brûlée and Chocolate Ecstacy for the adults. The chef Sadek to a keen interest in our experience and spoke with passion about how he cooks his dishes to perfection and the thought that goes into the dishes. This is a place I've not even heard about before, but if you want really top end food with flavours to make you think "wow!" Then give this place a try - you will not be disappointed.

I absolutely love the customer service in this place. Been a few times and each time the chef will come out to ask us what we thought of the food. The food is great, I have had the steak, which is always cooked perfectly, and I am yet to try their weekend menu. A great gem in Hall Green

Been here a couple of times. Extremely friendly staff, tasty food and 10/10 service. I would recommend it to anyone. They serve the best Sunday Roast and steaks. The portions were very generous. The owner Saida was very friendly, she always made sure to greet every customer. They even gave complimentary dessert when we went there for my husband’s birthday. Thank you Tarragon!

We had a lovely meal celebrating a birthday. Delicious food, everyone enjoyed every course. Excellent lamb chops to start, delicious prawn and chicken tagliatelle and cod main and the cheesecake was beautiful. Great service and nice to meet the chef. We will be back.

My wife and I visited earlier this evening and we will be returning. The atmosphere was nice, service excellent, and the food fantastic. I had the sirloin steak cooked medium-rare, whilst my wife had the chicken roast with trimmings. For dessert we had the creme brulee and pistachio/coconut cheesecake. The latter was to die for!
