Food okay, beef tacos were lacking texture and seemed a bit cheap, not worth £14. Starters were sub par, Sunday roast was very good, packed full of flavour. A bit on the pricier side, but very good service. Would go back, just not often.

The grilled chicken steak was nice also. The etci special steak had decent taste and flavour to it. The mocktails were abit hit and miss, the strawberry one tasted the best Overall as you are paying premium prices for the food, the service should be included, so therefore I Don't agree getting charged an extra 10 percent SERVICE CHARGE on top of the bill Would have given it 3 stars but only giving it 2, reason being the extra service charge also I think it's definitely on the pricer side compared to the amount you get. ** For the Instagrammers and tiktok pics , people love it, for foodies, not worth it in my opinion**

Oh my days, we were not disappointed tonight ! Last time (2y ago) we hated it. We came back not very optimistic but willing to give it another go and we are delighted. All waiters were amazing specially Abdelkarim and were polite. The food cooked by the chef TAHO was succulent, juicy and tender. The portions were generous. The atmosphere was nice. Honestly I will come back to and advise you to go. Definitely an outing for celebrations or even to enjoy good quality meat and food. Thank you again

Absolutely beautiful dinner! Everything is perfect to the tea. The fire 🔥 dance is lovely my kids were fascinated 😆✨ Beyti Turkish wrap and steak is Fantastic! Kids friendly meals and the Virgin strawberry Mojito is 😚!! I would 100% recommend it for a lovely Halal dinner with family ❤️ The first restaurant I have been to with an absolutely beautiful prayer area 💕

The food was tasty and delicious. I really recommend the lamb kofta with cheese it is one of the best kofta I ever tried. The price is very good. The staff were friendly and serve with love. The place was clean and well organized. I highly recommend this restaurant as one of the best Turkish choices in UK.

We used to go here once a week and order food. Lately the quality of the food has gone down and today we asked for onion rings for one of the kids instead of fries. We used to do this every week and the chef and management were respectful but unfortunately tonight the two managers were rude and impersonal saying you have to pay extra and when I asked them for an explanation they were rude. My friends and family and I will never come here again until you learn some manners and I have a suggestion for you. If you are struggling financially, hire some smart employees instead of lowering the quality of the food and being rude.

Great food I’ve enjoyed my lunch today

I recently visited Etci Star City restaurant with my work colleagues and had a disappointing experience. Before booking, I called twice to inquire about entertainment as we were going for Christmas dinner, and the representative assured me that there would be entertainment all week. However, upon arrival, the waitress informed us that entertainment was only available if we ordered a special flame steak. This crucial detail was never mentioned during my calls, which was frustrating since I specifically booked for both food and entertainment. And this wasn’t the case when I came with my siblings few years ago hence the girl being made incase of changes. I ordered the tomahawk steak with peppercorn sauce, priced at £60.50, requesting it to be cooked medium well. Unfortunately, the steak was well overcooked, making it tough to chew. My colleagues also tried it and agreed it was over cooked. While I might have returned it in a different setting, I chose not to raise the issue this time since I was with my colleagues. Additionally, I found the payment policy quite odd. For our group of seven/ eight, the bill had to be charged to one card, which was inconvenient, especially since we were prepared to cover any excess costs individually. This meant that if our total exceeded £200, it would all go on one person’s card, which was not ideal for a work outing. I had previously enjoyed this restaurant years ago when I visited with my siblings, which is why I recommended it to my colleagues. Unfortunately, this experience did not live up to my expectations, and I regret my choice. I won’t be returning in the future.

Overcooked meatballs and really poor service. They were just rushing to get us out. Did not enjoy the experience and considering it was £160 left really underwhelmed

Good food. Very busy. Service was not optimal, but to their credit they acknowledged this and apologised and offered a deduction from the final bill. Nice gesture. On a Saturday night, It was quite busy and noisy. Some younger people may like 👍 this

My experience at this Turkish steak restaurant was truly wonderful! The food was incredibly delicious and prepared with great professionalism. The atmosphere was the highlight for me—warm, welcoming, and beautifully designed. The staff were very polite and engaging, which made the overall experience enjoyable. However, there was one thing that upset me a little. They accidentally brought us an extra dish, but then they came back and took it away after placing it on the table. It would have been better if they had left it as a gesture of apology for the mistake, which would have made the experience even more perfect. That being said, the restaurant remains a beautiful place with its authentic Arabic ambiance, and I still recommend it to anyone looking for a unique dining experience!

Visited on Sunday, 24th November 2024 I recently visited Mehmet Etci in Star City, Birmingham, with my family, and I feel compelled to share my experience. While the quality of the ingredients and the behavior of the staff were good, unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing. We ordered the following for four people: Etci Special Kebap (gluten, milk) Chicken Kofte Chicken Shish Adana Kebap Chicken Wings Lamb Ribs Lamb Chops Additionally, we ordered: A Chicken Burger (£14) A Kid’s Chicken Nugget (£10) A service charge of £10.60 Total: £116.50 The positives: The ingredients were fresh, and the waitress was friendly and attentive. However, the negatives were significant: The taste of the Adana and Chicken Kofte was extremely disappointing. Both were overly spicy, to the point of being unpleasant. We expected larger portions to accommodate four people. Instead, the restaurant divided the food into two smaller portions, which resulted in smaller kebabs (approximately 100mm in length, rather than the expected 250mm). There was also less lamb ribs and lamb chops than anticipated. The overall portion size was far too small for the price. The food seemed to be enough for two people, not four, which made the price of £116.50 (for five adults and one child) feel exorbitant, especially without drinks. In conclusion, I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant, particularly if you’re with your family. It’s difficult to complain in front of family members when you’re charged so much for such a disappointing meal, with low quantities and overly spicy dishes that many people may not enjoy. Save your money and look for a better dining experience elsewhere.

Great service and atmosphere, and food was good, too! Easy to access from the car park, but toilets on the 1st floor-- didn't see an accessible toilet on the ground floor. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

The food was good, but the main course wasn't hot. We had not finished our starters and the staff bought our main courses to the table. I explained to the staff we are not ready for the main course but they said they have already cooked our food. We felt we was being rushed to eat and get us out. The one waiter did give us complimentary tea but I expect better service for the price we paid. Also the restaurant temperature felt cold so I had to leave my coat on whilst eating.

The new menu was great, especially the family meal for 4 people was amazing, very tasty, just like the ones we had in Turkey.

Lovely decor, waiters pleasant enough. We went on a very cold night and it was very cold in there, no heating on. All of our food was only lukewarm, we didn’t complain as we were ok with it like that but some people, like my partner prefer their food piping hot. All 10 of said we probably won’t return, the food wasn’t worth the expensive prices. I paid £18 for an asado burger that was no bigger than the palm of my hand. There was about one and a half to two tablespoons of meat on it. Totally not worth it. £6.00 for 5 cheesy onion rings, they were lovely to be honest but expensive. Kids chicken nuggets and chips £10 😳

Fantastic food and atmosphere...perfect for families....only downside is that they don't serve alcohol which i didn't realise but that's not a big problem.

May be a little biased as comparing to the Manchester branch. The food was really good. Some items on the dessert menu weren't available so that was a little disappointing. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, but not the lively, electrifying waiting we're used to at Manchester, which is essentially what we go to Etci for. Kids menu is pricey too.

Meat is scrumptious. Service is the fastest.

Can I Just Say At First I Was Scared To visit This Place As I Heard It Was Over Rated And Prices Were Highh !! Now That I Have Visited Amazing food, grilled To perfection! Great Portion Sizes and Good Choice Off Seasoning! Amazing Atmosphere, Love The Half An Hour Shows Of The Flames and Music. Great service-, Every Server Aims To Please And Always Has A Smile On Their Face! Can I give A Shout Out To the Waiters Who Served Us . They Were Amaazingg And Very Friendly. The Only Downer Of This Place Is Drinks Were Served 45 Mins Before Our Food Arrived So The Ice Had Melted and The Fizz Had Finished From Our Drinks However Its Something Small which Can be Improved By Just Asking Your Customers Would You Like Your Drinks Served First Or With Your Food.

Amazing Ripp off. AVOID. Went yesterday, warm welcome, ordered food which took ages to be served. Staff always around us(trying to tell eat fast and buzz off..!),couldn't feel comfortable to dine.1 piece of steak with nan bread & salad £68.! Another steak £120.!. Gosh came home well fed but empty pockets.Guys Enough steak house on Coventry Road, Ladypool Road, Alumrock. Fair price, quality food. Would avoid unless I earn some gansta cash. Not worth my hard earned money. Sorry.

Very rude staff , with poor understanding to basic serving etiquette. Steak arrived rare when requested medium well . I can't find a reason why people eat here.

Menu too pricey and served poor quality Beef, Staff friendly and helpful but the amount of smoke in the air with broken Aircon which seems a long term thing as using 2 fans which simply recycle the hot smoky air. Made a special trip to visit but never again. Also with a very excessively priced menu, they simply cannot automatically add 10% Service charge which the customer should decide as we wanted to give a direct tip to the staff for service and not automatically to the bill.

I am from Nottingham and came to Star City for work purpose. I was looking for a prayer room and found it at Etci Mehmet. The staff allowed me to use the prayer room and I thought to myself why not have a cheeky lunch. The staff service was good and especially Karim was such a pleasant man. Ofcourse the food was top top!!! Never let me down. Will be back soon with family.

If you book for more than 6 people, they apply a MANDATORY 10% service charge. So after having a bill of over £500.00, you then have to pay an additional £50.00. It would be really great if they told people about the mandatory service charge, verbally, before they order. Because pointing people to the small print (Ts&Cs), after they have ordered, makes it feel like a swindle. Will not be going back.

Great place to hang out on bdsy or special occasion. However I found the food lacking. Having visited Manchester previously this was soo far from the level I experienced there. Everything from the starters to steak were just OK. Average at best. Having spent near 600 for the meal we didn't come out feeling satisfied. Good for one off but won't be returning unfortunately

Mr. Bhatti was an amazing host! Honestly enjoyed our friends birthday like never before. Very welcoming and his banter was amazing. Food and the steak experience was out of this world!

We went here 2 weeks ago and the food and service was subpar. I and a couple of others had asked for medium rare steaks and sauces to go with them, we received the steaks but not the sauces (which is quite odd…), we decided to dig in anyway as there was no sign of sauces arriving. Low and behold the steak was essentially uncooked from the inside and COLD. We made a complaint and sent back 4 steaks, they returned and it was still extremely raw on the inside (I feel like they popped it in the microwave as there was little to no difference from the original). We made another complaint and they took it away and brought our sauces (nice! we now have sauces but no steak😡). We decided to leave after this as majority of our table had finished eating and this took around 40 minutes of our time. It might have been a bad day but I will not be returning as I have had a bad first impression.

Entry into restaurant is like entering a nightclub, loud music set for dinner time which isn’t appropriate. A lot of money has been to thrown at the look of the restaurant but sadly not the attention to detail of food. Bread that was ordered should’ve come first with the meze. Bread not like authentic Turkish bread whatsoever. Salad arrived without dressing. Was dry… no knowledge of true Turkish food at all. Expensive for what we had. Much better meals to be had at small local Turkish restaurants at a fraction of the price. Very disappointing

Arrived here around 8pm, all I can say is the food was nice… not sure about the service. We asked if we could order drinks first as we were still deciding what to order - we went as a group of 6. Bearing in mind it would take a while for us to choose and give our order as there was 6 of us… The waiter, Bhatti said that we would have to order drinks and food together. As we battled the thought of thirst, we finally gave our order and requested a bottle of water whilst the mocktails were being made. Thinking the bottled of water would arrive first…. It never even arrived until we requested again after we had received our food. I don’t know what has happened to this place as my first experience was lovely and lively with fire experience.. the second time round it’s like there was no effort with customer service. Waiters kept hovering over us as if they are in a hurry for us to quickly eat and leave. Disappointed.

Bhatti was an ok waiter. Food was okay but I feel like they have lost the standard of what once was a great place to eat.. prices have shot up again and no idea why.. I wish these places would realise how many customers they lose because of just raising the prices to something stupid.. food came out cold too and the atmosphere wasn’t the same anymore.. was a bit gutted if I’m honest as this used to be one of my favourite joints..

This is second time we come. Worst experience ever with the waiter named Bhati ( the old man with grey hair), although the food was delicious but his service was terrible nearly kicking us out of the restaurant ( asking us to pay and we have not finished our food) and we spent only 35 min in the restaurant. He was very rude asking us about our nationality in a racial way at the time of order in-front of our kids .

A hyperbole of food well grilled, intwined with the servicing much adorned substituting for any shortcoming in food experience, encapsulating the experience vis-a-vis rudimentary antique environmental vibe. Genuine criticism includes the music which conflicted with the family/friend dining setting. Desert: Amazing ice cream with the cheesecake. Very hospitable to a large group, serving complimentary tea.
