This. Was. AMAZING. The atmosphere and service were great and the food was delicious. Its also very fairly priced. Definitely coming back soon.

We chose Yardbirds as a place likely to suit both ourselves and our teenage boys for a celebration meal. I am vegetarian but was reassured by the good accounts of the vegetarian food. We went on a Wednesday when Yardbirds has a 2 for 1 burger offer so the place was packed. The evening did not start well as we were greeted with as much charm and warmth as a frozen chicken filet. Things looked up when we were shown to the booth we had reserved earlier, but sank again as we spent the next 20 minutes desperately trying to catch the eye of either the waiter or waitress so as to order. Both waiter and waitress were as desperate to avoid our eyes as we were keen to catch theirs so in the end I walked up and told the waitress we were ready to order. Once ordered the food arrived quickly enough. Both my husband and I like strong flavours so he had ordered the chicken ‘kimchick’ while I had ordered the vegan version. The kimchick is supposed to feature kimchi - the tangy spicy relish made with cabbage. One bite was enough to illustrate that the burgers had nothing to do with kimchi except in name. A few more bites revealed that the meat and vegan kimchicks delivered to us with emphatic confirmation that my husband’s was meat and mine vegan had in fact been delivered the wrong way round. I don’t know why it took us a few bites to determine this, my conclusion being that the burgers were so taste and texture less that it was difficult to determine what was in them at all. Our complaint to the waiter who asked us (without interest) whether everything was ok was met with the usual expressions of contrition but with no suggestion of any way to make amends. We considered making more of a fuss but the resulting tasteless recompense whether meat based or not hardly seemed worth the effort. On the plus side, our boys were happy enough with their gravy chick and dirty clucker. All in all Yardbirds at £11.50 a burger (without chips) seems very poor value compared to the £9.75 you can pay in Anjuna Lounge down the road for a very tasty chilli paneer wrap WITH dirty fries.And caneat’s 7-minute eggs packs all the fresh, real ingredients and taste so sadly lacking at Yardbirds. We noticed that at caneat where you can see the open kitchen, the staff are absorbed in their work and the team exude a liveliness and camaraderie. At Yardbirds by contrast, which also has an open kitchen, the chefs appeared listless - bored and tired. A little like the food.

We visited for the kids film club, what a great idea! Children enjoyed the film, very family friendly and lovely food as always.

Hidden gem the best fried chicken & fried pickles. Friendly staff & excellent service. Chicken burgers are huge & full of taste.

Came here a few weeks ago but haven't had the time to leave a review until now! First time visiting, it's a lot bigger than I expected, so should be plenty of space to find a table. The staff are really attentive and friendly, and you get some nibbles given to your table while you wait for your order. Burger and fries were great. Mac and cheese was nice but a little bit small for the price. Overall a great experience, and will visit again!

It was my birthday on 14/08/24 so I thought I head to one of my favourite restaurants in Brum. Me and my partner were well looked after by Tom and Kel! The food was unreal, their service and attentiveness was spot on even with an unexpected large table arriving. It was great to watch their professionalism when faced with that challenge. Safe to say I’m really excited for my next visit. Thanks for making my birthday a special one!

Best vegan chicken burger I've ever had in my life!! Bit pricey, came to almost £30 each, you also have to pay extra for fries (a bugbear of mine). Overall pretty good.

Good quality food but a tad pricey for what it is, 3 strips and chips for £13.50… the same goes for the beer selection, slightly expensive but lots of local beers.

Went on a Wednesday evening (BOGOF) and for what we paid it was lovely. Unsure if I would rush back at full price as there are better burgers to be had at that price point. Chips were lovely though.

Finally went to Yardbirds the other day after wanting to try it for ages and it did absolutely not disappoint. Easily the best chicken burger I have ever eaten. Will definitely be back and keen to try a wing Wednesday soon as they looked fantastic when they went past

Amazing food, great staff, great atmosphere 10/10

Yardbirds is the opposite side of Birmingham to where we live, but it's so worth the travel. Their chicken is phenomenal. The coating is so perfect! Even the simple 'strips and chips' option feels special. Love the chipotle mayo. Try to make it to one of their brunch days. Chicken and waffles at its finest. The team are so cheery. They were also absolutely amazing at accommodating a table of 16 for my birthday brunch, and as a bonus, they're dog friendly so our pup comes with us to help hoover up any mess. We love Yardbirds.

Turned up for a yard bird takeover of the jewellery quarter at 20:50 to find out they have stopped serving and just thought it was funny. My evening is now to be replanned not great heard great things about it very disappointing.

The food was great! I had the Dirty Clucker burger with gravy fries and it was fantastic. The gravy was something else!

Came across Yardbirds after a recommendation from a friend, so decided to go and experience for ourselves. We wouldn't normally be in the area, so we were glad to find out about this place. The manager and the team were very hospitable as soon as we arrived, nothing was too much trouble, and they gladly came to help us with the use of highchairs etc. We had no idea that the "Kids Film Club" was on (where the kids could enjoy a film on the big screen, with headphones provided if preferred, and a meal for £1), so this was a lovely surprise, and a wonderful way to keep the kids entertained. Colouring activities were also available for the kids, so this was nice too. The food went down well for both the adults and the children, glad we were able to try the Kimchick Burger. Definitely hope we can visit again soon! Thank you to all at Yardbirds for a great Saturday afternoon experience!

Damn good chicken, downright odd service. First time at Yardbirds tonight. Couldn’t have had a more split experience. Food was amazing, could say worth the wait? However what’s not clear to me is whether the wait was down to the service or the kitchen. We waited half an hour to be served food on a one and quarter hour booking that they allocated. I did fancy dessert but according to their booking rule, there wasn’t enough time. And to be honest couldn’t be bothered to go through the rigmarole of asking for something and waiting for an eternity to receive it as we had done throughout the meal. My partner ordered another drink when the food was served. But he never received it despite the same waiter fulfilling an additional drinks order to the table behind us. Also felt like I was working a second job - after asking for and then receiving the bill promptly, we ended up going to the counter to pay it in the end because no one bothered to come over with the card machine, even though the table who’d arrived after us ended up paying and leaving before us. I would happily eat Yardbirds food again - but maybe it would be better to have it via a delivery service rather than eating there, as we saw numerous online orders going out the door while we agonisingly waited for our food.

Alright but nothing special unfortunately, despite being a lot more expensive than other burger places. Was still left hungry after spending close to £20 on a simple halloumi burger and chips and soft drink and contemplated getting dessert but would’ve had to take out a small mortgage.

The food is tasty cant fault it there but imo the portion size isn't great for the price, i got probably less than a handfull of chips with the "chips and strips" and they also forgot my sauces on 2 separate occasions, which really annoyed me..

We had a really lovely meal here for a friend's Birthday. It was midweek but the atmosphere was good and the food was completely delicious. They do 241 burgers on a Wednesday which was another happy surprise and made it even more reasonable price wise. They also do cocktails which we enjoyed and the service was friendly and non intrusive. Looking forward to going back ✨

Wow the kimchi burger is incredible big thanks to the team chef Tyler, and servers Charlotte and Kelly created a great atmosphere for me and the misses I would most definitely recommend the food here my only critique would be we had the coleslaw and for me it was to chunky I prefer it sliced thinner. But overall the staff food and atmosphere and value was there. Well don't to the team tonight. See you again soon. Oh and the gravy sauce daaaaam it was fire 🔥

Edit: I've been back since I wrote my first review and this place has gone downhill a lot, it's as if the staff have completely changed. The chicken didn't taste as fresh at all and it was very salty, probably won't go back Best burgers I've had in a long time, super fresh & crispy chicken. The restaurant also had a lovely vibe and lovely staff, we will definitely be coming back!

I thoroughly enjoyed the unlimited chicken wing night at Yardbirds. The flavours were fantastic, and the service was excellent. I estimate that we received a new batch of chicken wings approximately every 20 minutes, which led me to consider ordering more per serving next time to fully capitalize on the dining experience. Without a doubt, I would revisit this place; everything about it was delightful. The chicken wings boasted a crispy and generous batter, enhancing the overall experience. I relished every flavour, with the Teriyaki and Buffalo & Blue standing out as the highlights of the evening. Be sure not to overlook the frickles; they're a must-try!

Stumbled on this place after visiting Cadbury world. Very quirky little burger place. Arrived and greeted very quickly. Showed to a table and given colouring and some headphones for my little girl which was something I hadn’t seen before, the headphones were so she could watch a film on a projector screen, such a fab idea! Ordered our food and drinks. Food didn’t take long to arrive however the reason for one less mark is because our sides arrived and it was then another 5 minutes before our burgers arrived, it didn’t make a huge difference but the food should all come together. The food was very good and left us feeling full so unfortunately no room for dessert this time. Bill was very reasonable especially as kids eat for £1 between 12-5 on a sat and sun which I think is fab! Couldn’t pay cash as they didn’t have a till so something to bear in mind. Will be returning! Thank you!

First visit on a Thursday and it was super busy (buy 1 get 1 free on burgers). Food was really nice, especially the chicken wings, would recommend getting a side of them. Keen to come back and try the different burgers as they all sounded so nice. If fried chicken is your thing then you need to come here. Service was a little slow so not quite 5 stars, lot of online orders being prepared which I think affected it.

Disappointed! Service quite slow and also the food was far too salty (and I like a good bit of salt!). Much better places to have fried chicken burgers and loaded fries in my opinion.

Having now attended Yardbirds on three occasions, I have sampled most of the burger options, with my favourite being the gravy chick. The burgers are filling, meaty and full of flavour, they are well prepared and presented and you can tell fresh quality ingredients have been used each time. They also offer a range of sides, from loaded fries to frickles and wings. The drink selection has a wide range to offer from craft beers to cocktails. They also do a white Russian here which I don’t often see in many other restaurants and its one of the best! Also on offer is a range of desserts that differ slightly to the norm with their key lime pie being another favourite. The staff are very friendly and helpful and a good atmosphere is present within, never feeling rushed or left waiting for too long. I can’t say I would turn down any opportunity to go back, this was also agreed by the group I was with who all loved the burgers and our time at yard birds. Occasionally I hear some say, “oh yeah, that place is pretty expensive” well, yes it is more costly than going to a Wetherspoons and ordering similar however, is a Wetherspoons burger that memorable? Yardbirds now also offer monthly deals which can be viewed on their social media and this is a great move, If you find the costs off putting why not try going on a Wednesday or Thursday for their buy one get one free burgers? How can you argue with that which is a great deal for quality food! Give it a try and you might just have found your new place for a chicken fix.

Had a truly great meal with beers . Multi generational family, plenty of space to accommodate our ( not mine ) tiny baby in a stroller. Beers were superb , and the food ,,especially the dirty chicken ,with waffle was spicy and great . V.good service. Can’t fault it .

The chicken here is lovely - tender and flavoursome. The burgers are really substantial but hold together well, and the sauce on all the wings I tried was great. Small but good beer selection too.

I had the brunch special: chicken and waffles, with sourdough, mimosas and filter coffee for £18. It was really nice, the staff are very friendly.

Wow, just wow. We loved every second of our time here. The food was absolutely delicious with plenty of veggie options. The service was spot on, friendly and helpful. We had been visiting cadburys World, and stumbled on here when looking for somewhere for lunch, so glad we did. The kids were also kept entertained by frozen 2 and up. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Thank you very much.

Been twice, both times the food was underwhelming given the price point. I feel like the burgers lacked flavour. If you're looking to spend a similar amount in an evening I would recommend somewhere else.

I was excited to try this place after reading some good reviews, however the food really disappointed us. We had the bbq chicken burger and some strips with fries. The chicken was dry and quite tough, not seasoned very well. The fries were probably the best part of the meal and were very salty. We tried the mustard gravy which was ok. The stuff was very nice and the place seems like a nice family oriented establishment however the food was a let down.

Quite possibly the best chicken burger I’ve ever eaten in my life. I had the Gravy Chick and My mate had the Yard bird.. we didn’t really have any expectations just fancied a burger and came across Yardbird on Deliveroo so we gave it a go.. unbelievable. We nearly drove to the restaurant to shake the chefs hand or ask them to marry us.

Seriously good food, nice range of burgers and beer. Not sure what other reviews re buffalo sauce are about, the buffalo sauce is great, super tangy (as it should be) and probably the closest I've had to authentic buffalo sauce since having it in the states. American mustar gravy really good too. Kids film club on Saturday was a lovely touch with movie and headphones for little ones to keep them entertained. Nice, friendly staff and good service 👌

Popped in just before closing time but they were happy to welcome us in and take our order. Fantastic burger and loaded fries washed down with a superb craft beer. Welcoming and friendly staff too. I will definitely be back.

So lovely! Such lovely staff and a lovely meal! Their American mustard gravy is unreal! Will definitely be back! We noticed aswell that the small children had been given headphones and a screen to watch children's films on a projector screen- so adorable! Seems like a place great for all ages!

We recently visited Yardbirds and we had a great time! I had their Kimchick Burger which was delicious. I've never come across a burger like this before and all the flavours worked great with each other - that Kimchi Fritter was so good! I also had the Dirty Loaded Fries and these were covered in their cheese sauce, bacon and chicken strips. Another choice I definitely recommend. We also really impressed with their vegan options. My friend is vegan and still struggles to find good vegan options and she was very happy that she was able to eat with us and not feel left out. Last of all, I just want to say that service was second-to-none. Please carry on what you're doing!

Great food and a good selection of drinks.

Overall was good, Yardbird burger was great, chicken and cauliflower wings great, chicken strips were a little dry and chewy sadly, albeit the 2 sauces I had with them very tasty.

First of all the food is amazing here, all tastes great and fresh I love it! I go as much as I can do! 😃 However tonight when eating, I came in at 1930 an hour and a half before there closing I was seated easily and ordered food took a little time as they had given it to the wrong person but I got my food quick enough no complaints there. But as soon as I had put my dish down and wiped my mouth the waitress came over and straight away asked if I was ready to pay. I said yes I can do but I would like a glass of water first, I wasn’t offered the dessert menu or asked how the food was. I felt really quite rushed, I paid and then had a sip or two of my drink, to my left a couple were still in the middle of there meal as the waiting staff were wiping down all the tables and tidying away. The restaurant wasn’t due to close till 2100 and it was only 2020. Felt very sorry for the other couple they had booked there table for 2000 it sounded like when they came in. They were the last ones in, not like there was a queue for a second sitting… Again food was great, just please give people chance to enjoy themselves as opposed to making them feel rushed.

Not worth it I would have preferred kfc. Burger was tiny not what I was expecting I won’t be going back!

Mixed feelings really, lovely welcome, staff were lovely when ordering, bit of a wait on food considering you are given only 1.25hrs at the table. When food came I asked for some salt and ketchup, surely easy condiments to provide, sat waiting and had to approach staff about where these were. They’re ordered was the response, I’ve never had to order condiments! Chicken was dry, sorry, welcome good, food average at best and why would you have to wait for ketchup in an American themed restaurant?

Perfect for when you've been drinking on Stirchley's beer mile and your group wants something amazing to eat! Quite a big restaurant for Stirchley - So plenty of space for big groups. I had Chicken burger with American mustard gravy (Gravy Chick) which was delicious. I also had chicken wings with bbq siracha sauce which were superb. Great service too.

Had their mobile festival experience at Camp Bestival Shropshire. 90 minute wait for a distinctly lack luster burger. Honestly tasteless. The fries were the best bit but the dirty cheese sauce wasn’t worth dipping in as it added nothing

Mixed feelings after our first visit. We felt very welcome when we arrived (although we were 15 minutes early). The restaurant was fairly quiet at 6pm on a Friday (summer) so our order was taken quickly (there is currently an offer with 1 adult meal get 1 kids' meal for £1) Unfortunately my husband's beer was warm (we didn't dare to say) but then I was given a burger with chicken thigh instead of breast so I did say and they were very happy to replace it. Then my husband was given the wrong burger but they quickly made a new one, then the chicken wings appeared to have been missed out (at that point I realised something had gone wrong with the ordering system) so they also cooked them quickly. All in all the staff were lovely and did everything they could to fix the issues. In terms of quality, the burgers were nice but drowned in buffalo and cheese sauce (2 different burgers), which made them hard to eat, not so crispy and very messy ( don't wear white clothes 😅). The kids food was tasty but very small quantities, so if your kids are more than 5/6 years old I'd suggest an extra portion of something and/or a desert.

Hooooly heck! What a meal. Everything was to die for and I’d say (arguably) Yardbirds is the best chicken place in Brum. Get yourself some garlic bread wings. You will not be disappointed 🍗

Really just very good fried chicken! Great options and the mustard gravy was an unexpected highlight. Good for vegans too. All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive and it was a lovely eating experience.

My first and last time eating here overpriced and bland!!! Bucks chicken is way better I should of went dixy chicken

Fantastic food and service. A big issue here is the deliveroo orders getting in the way. Delivery drivers constantly hassling front of house. If you own this place and read this your staff are really really good but are put under way too much pressure. Give them a chance please

For a fried chicken place Yardbirds does absolutely amazing vegan burgers! Honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had, it wasn't perfectly chicken-y but it was absolutely delicious. Also had amazing cauliflower wings, so crispy and tasty. And chips great cheesy chips! The staff were super friendly and the entire vibe was casual and lovely. Playlist was top tier when we visited too

Went there for the first time last night and have the vegan chicken burger, fries, and cauliflower ribs. Honestly some of the best veggie fast food I have had in a long time. And very reasonably priced for the amount of food.

Disappointed. Ordered the chipotle burger. No chipotle sauce. Burger then arrived quickly and was undercooked some of the chicken was pink. Thin and chewy aswell it seemed like they'd taken pieces of chicken wing and put this into a burger and smothered it with a bland sauce. The beer was fine but like the food very overpriced. Kind of chicken I'd expect in a cheap place.F further along is a Dixy which would've been better and not £11.50 for a poor burger.

Pricey and not worth the effort. The owners need to shape up or ship out. Bad form when Dixy a few doors down does better chicken. And Dixy is AWFUL!!

First time visiting here, food was lush and came quickly! Prices of the food seemed fair, I felt the drinks were a tad pricey given their size but wouldn't put me off visiting again. Staff were all attentive and welcoming! Great little place!

The chicken is incredible, it feels a little pricey & parking around here's not great.

Had a choice between KFC on Uber or to pop into Yard Bird, ordered strips and chips & strips only, waited 50 minutes to get wings & chips twice. They made us the strips & chips x 2, got the order wrong twice. Chips 2nd time round were overcooked. A poor show when there were only 3 tables - total of 8 people in there. Exceptionally disappointing.

Nice bufallo chicken, but just a bit too much coating on them for me. Definitely worth a visit.

I'm a super fussy vegetarian but I love the food here. Eaten here a few times, with family and workmates, and had a fantastic time, everytime. The atmosphere is great, staff are super lovely and the food is wonderful! If you haven't had a frickle before, I recommend giving them a go! Cocktails are great and the beer is fab too (Steady Rollin is my fave!) So great that we have this on our doorstep in Stirchley and I'll be going back for more!

Finally managed to get a table here, we were prettey early in the evening for once and managed to grab a table. Every time we have passed it's been heaving so it's worth booking ahead. The local beers and fantastic chicken just match and slide down far to easily 🍺 hot tasty and we'll seasoned, truly delish!

They are pretty good burgers, and they serve whiskey, I couldn't ask for more... Well, maybe dessert 🤔.

Fantastic food unfortunately service was lacking slightly I asked for 1/2one flavour and 1/2another flavour of wings as we was sharing but this didn't happen don't know if the waitress didn't hear us would have expected slightly better service for the time of day as they were quite but had plenty of staff on. Absolutely delicious food though

Amazing. Having eaten at yardbirds at villa ground my son said it was his number 1 chicken place. So it was his birthday on the weekend and this was where he wanted to go, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The staff were great, especially the manager he could do enough for us. Definitely recommend!!
