Amazing Service from all the staff, treating there customers right with care and compassion, Massive shoutout to Uncle Sheraz, Every Year for the past 3 years we Have our annual Iftaar at Tarka and they never fail, always going out there way. Once again ThankYou Uncle Sheraz!

Great food, lovely staff and amazing service.

Attended for my birthday with a group of over 25 people. The food and service were outstanding. All staff went above and beyond. Everyone’s food came out at the same time and was piping hot. We were not rushed to leave and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend. Also the food was more than reasonably priced for the quality. Special shout out to Haroon for being the best host!

Food was delicious but some of staff definitely need more customer service training. Also long wait during iftaar time.

Don’t know how to talk with coustmers . Bad behave of staff members. Really I suggest to everyone don’t visit to this restaurant.

It’s so good I’ve come back twice in 3 days !! What a hidden gem. Every single curry had its own unique authentic flavour. Literally one of the best restaurants in Derby!

Food was incredible, the tables were spacious and, even though we were a party of 9, I never felt like I was shouting to talk to people over the music. The service is next level! Everyone was super friendly and at times it felt like they were part of the group (in a good way). Not intrusive and always on hand! Highly recommend !

Travelled from Leicester with kids and wife.Very clean restaurant.dont know the name but the Manager was an excellent host.enquired multiple times if we were comfortable. Couple of things went a bit disappointing. One waiter took our starter plates and spoons and never bring new ones back and the mains were served without cutlery.plates also came after food. Some misunderstandings about bill at the end But was humbly corrected and apologized . Children didn’t liked the food as too spicy .But for us Adults taste was good. Lovely polite staff. Recommendation- staff must inform the customers (specially with kids) about food that is spicy and offer choice to reduce spice if possible.

Came here on the 5th for my mums birthday with a group of 8. The food was lovely- we enjoyed the Badshah platter the most. We received great service from the staff who were polite and friendly and helped make it a special day for my mum. We will deffo be coming back! Great. Service from Sayfur , Billy & Amaan

We went to the Tarka for the first time last night. On arrival, we were told that the venue was alcohol free. This was not an issue for us, and I was definitely impressed with the fact that the owner /manager was willing to stand by their beliefs rather than put them to one side in favour of profits. The absence of alcohol made the venue more family friendly and relaxed in my opinion. In fact, there were family groups present, of various ages. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking in on us without making us feel rushed. We decided not to have starters. We ordered a chicken mirch masala and a chicken korma. To accompany the curries, we ordered a portion of pilau rice and a peshwari naan, which we would share. We also ordered a jug of water. Whilst the food was being prepared, we were given a portion of poppadoms and pickles. The poppadoms were small, but a generous portion. The size made them easier to eat, and less messy than breaking the usual large poppadoms. When the curries arrived, the portions were generous. The naan was cut into quarters, which made it easier and less messy to eat. My korma was smooth and creamy with plenty of chicken. My partner said that his mirch masala was the spiciest curry he had ever eaten. The whole meal cost £34, which we thought was excellent value for money. We will definitely be eating here again.

Great food. Really enjoyed their delicacy ’Paaya’ with tandoori roti which was brilliant. Another USP of this place is its host who engages with all the guests with same energy and kindness. I will surely return to this place.

Amazing food, amazing people, amazing service. The staff are so friendly and helpful, it was great talking to Sheraz especially, such a warm person. Even something as simple as packing the food for us instead of giving us takeaway boxes to sort it ourselves stood out. This restaurant is a hidden gem can’t wait to come back!!

Very good ambience and chicken biryani is a must try here. Very resonable pricing point and good selection of music. The most important takeaway is that not many places in UK does the complimentary poppadoms but here it was present which is actually good and a very good business strategy. Had the dine-in experience for the 1st time here as till now we always used to takeaway chicken biryani.

A really nice place! The butter chicken was very good and very rich, the servers were lovely. I'm not sure if it was just me not being able to find it, but I would have preferred some vegetables as a side order. The cheese and garlic naan was bomb. Really good prices for what you get! It was very yummy.

Best lamb Karahi you will ever find. My family and I will always come back here as the food is authentic and hits the spot. The owner is super friendly and always checks to ensure his customers are happy. Nothing is too much trouble. Went this evening to celebrate a birthday and as always it was delicious. We were given complimentary desi tea and gajar halwa which was soo tasty! Thank you for a lovely experience.

I’ve been a few times now with good friends and it is consistently fantastic food, excellent service and always very clean and friendly. I highly recommend this alcohol free experience!

Food was amazing and extremely filling. Went there for my graduation around a month ago and was such a delight. The staff was so polite and accommodating, they hid away the cake my family brought and stored it without me knowing and even gave me something small as a graduation present. Also allowed myself and my family to stay and take photos upstairs in front of the photo wall.

We decided to eat at Tarka after a long walk in the peak district. There was a short wait before we were seated. It felt a bit small for 11 people but the manager put an extra table for us which made it more comfortable. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. We ordered 2 chicken and meat platters, egg fried rice, fish pakoras, 2 naan and 2 portions of fries. We ordered drinks as well but the glass was small for the price we paid. Overall would recommend it for a family meal. Friendly and fast service by the manager very accommodating.

Excellent food and service. Cozy and relaxed environment to have some excellent desi food in the center of Derby. Good venue for families.

Early Saturday evening visit. Everything was really great- service and food were excellent and we hadn’t reckoned on the size of the portions for the handi and karahi we ordered. You could order one and share between two in either case. Brother and I were well looked after, enjoyed the food and agreed it was a good end to a good day. Just one thing. £4 for an orange juice is the kind of thing that goes against everything else I’ve written. Come on! Don’t take the mick.

Nice deco inside comfortable and good service but thats the only best praise i can give to be honest. I ordered the badshah platter it was average tasting for me was lacking flavour to be honest, next i ordered half kg chicken curry and half kg lamb curry, when it came out it wasn't actually half kg it looked like way less than half kg which was dissappointing. Ordering this kind of food i needed to have fizzy drink to push it down, unfortunately its stated on the menu they have fanta 7up and coke but the truth is you will get cheap and nasty drinks not the original but they charge original price. I know this because they don't have cans or bottles they will either give it you in a glass or a jug the drinks have no fizz in them at all i was better of with water The service was good professional and friendly but the food is average. I will not be going again in the future. Thank you for your service Tarka.

I came to Tarka as a family of 8 with 4 adults and 4 children. Two of the children have autism, so I’m always anxious about taking them out anywhere. Honestly, I have nothing but praise for the restaurant and its wonderful staff. The brothers were really kind, understanding and compassionate. They went out of their way with everything & made sure we were well looked after. The food was absolutely amazing, really hot, fresh and delicious. We managed to get through a Tawa and a Chicken Parmesan; the plates were empty at the end of the meal. The kids are picky eaters, but they ate all the food here, no problems. Thank you once again for making this experience as stress free and enjoyable as possible! Will definitely be back again with the next birthday meal In Shaa Allah 🙏

Best food I've had in Derby, so many different options and flavours. The decor is so nice and I love the colour scheme. Did my cousins 18th here and booked the whole of the upstairs. Staff were really attentive and lovely.

My son has autism so going out to restaurants can be difficult for him. Sharaz the manager on duty was soo accommodating and welcoming to my son’s needs. He went out of his way to make sure he was comfortable and was at ease.Thank you for your help

This is my go to restaurant in Derby. My family and I eat here often; the owner and his front of house team are very hospitable and lovely. The prayer room upstairs is amazing as my family plan our day around praying 5 times a day, this just makes eating out in the evenings so much easier. As well as the atmosphere, the food is absolutely lovely, we don’t finish our food but we always ask for containers to take it home lol It’s one of our favourites and we will certainly be returning in a few weeks.

Myself and a group of friends went to tarka on Friday 31st of may and absolutely loved the food and the amazing service provided by the staff. They also went the extra mile and gave us complimentry items off the menu to try out such as some drinks and desserts. I just wanted to give a big shouout to sharaz and Issy again for a lovely end to our night out. Deffo will be coming back soon. Thank you!

Delicious food! Wow to the yummyness!! Definitely recommend just for the food. Decor was lovely and had a special feel to it. The waiter was lovely and polite and was happy to serve us. We did seem to wait a while to get asked for our order though and also for our main after our starter. Possibly a bit of confusion and miscommunication as we wanted one starter with the main. Poor waiter guy didn't know though. He was really lovely!! The food was delicious though and I highly recommend this place.

Good friendly service, with a disco interior. A post office van wanted to take my parking space, the cheeky monkey. Otherwise parking space around the streets. Food was good, I ordered chicken wings( had nicer but good) , chilli chicken (could of been hotter), pilau rice, bindi, naan and poppadoms. All around £30. They don't serve alcohol.

We had a fantastic meal here last week. The food was sensational. It was so tasty, the meat was so tender and everything was so flavourful. The service was great. We felt really looked after and valued as customers. I really would give it a try. My friend recommended it and I’m so glad we went. The photo is of the food when we were halfway through it! There was so much we took some home!

Went here for iftar all the food was very nice, I find at most places starters are good then mains are a bit of a let down. But all 3 of the gosht/chicken/dhaal curries were on point and DELICIOUS! Would definitely go again. Service was good as well, waiter was friendly and helpful. Ambience was nice, decorated well (we were upstairs). BIG bonus they have mens and womens prayer rooms. Well done guys please keep it consistent!

I am very delighted with my visit here for Iftar today. I came with my niece and sister in law and the service and food was fantastic. Shiraz the manager was very humble and kind and recommended great food. Praying facilities available with men and women separate.

First visit with mates on Monday night and food was spot on. Great selection of curries and starters, all well cooked and flavorsome. Note that there is no alcohol license but not a problem for us as we'd sample a few beers at the Brunswick on the way 😁 Definitely worth a try if you're in town and fancy a curry.
