Best lamb Karahi you will ever find. My family and I will always come back here as the food is authentic and hits the spot. The owner is super friendly and always checks to ensure his customers are happy. Nothing is too much trouble. Went this evening to celebrate a birthday and as always it was delicious. We were given complimentary desi tea and gajar halwa which was soo tasty! Thank you for a lovely experience.

Good food and service with reasonable price. It is really worth trying all their delicious dishes.

We were staying in Derby for the night and fancied treating ourselves to an amazing meal, so selected Tarka as it was nearby - and so glad we did! The fact the other Indian restaurants we walked past on the way, at 7:30 in the evening, were completely devoid of customers ( and not much better when we walked back later ) and Tarka was really busy, says all you need to know. Food was absolutely amazing, loads of choice and for us, some new dishes to choose from that we hadn’t considered before. Quality was superb Really great and relaxed atmosphere, with a local crowd. Service was absolutely first rate. As soon as we get the opportunity to be in Derby, we’ll be back.

I’ve been a few times now with good friends and it is consistently fantastic food, excellent service and always very clean and friendly. I highly recommend this alcohol free experience!

Food was amazing and extremely filling. Went there for my graduation around a month ago and was such a delight. The staff was so polite and accommodating, they hid away the cake my family brought and stored it without me knowing and even gave me something small as a graduation present. Also allowed myself and my family to stay and take photos upstairs in front of the photo wall.

We decided to eat at Tarka after a long walk in the peak district. There was a short wait before we were seated. It felt a bit small for 11 people but the manager put an extra table for us which made it more comfortable. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. We ordered 2 chicken and meat platters, egg fried rice, fish pakoras, 2 naan and 2 portions of fries. We ordered drinks as well but the glass was small for the price we paid. Overall would recommend it for a family meal. Friendly and fast service by the manager very accommodating.

Early Saturday evening visit. Everything was really great- service and food were excellent and we hadn’t reckoned on the size of the portions for the handi and karahi we ordered. You could order one and share between two in either case. Brother and I were well looked after, enjoyed the food and agreed it was a good end to a good day. Just one thing. £4 for an orange juice is the kind of thing that goes against everything else I’ve written. Come on! Don’t take the mick.

Nice deco inside comfortable and good service but thats the only best praise i can give to be honest. I ordered the badshah platter it was average tasting for me was lacking flavour to be honest, next i ordered half kg chicken curry and half kg lamb curry, when it came out it wasn't actually half kg it looked like way less than half kg which was dissappointing. Ordering this kind of food i needed to have fizzy drink to push it down, unfortunately its stated on the menu they have fanta 7up and coke but the truth is you will get cheap and nasty drinks not the original but they charge original price. I know this because they don't have cans or bottles they will either give it you in a glass or a jug the drinks have no fizz in them at all i was better of with water The service was good professional and friendly but the food is average. I will not be going again in the future. Thank you for your service Tarka.

I came to Tarka as a family of 8 with 4 adults and 4 children. Two of the children have autism, so I’m always anxious about taking them out anywhere. Honestly, I have nothing but praise for the restaurant and its wonderful staff. The brothers were really kind, understanding and compassionate. They went out of their way with everything & made sure we were well looked after. The food was absolutely amazing, really hot, fresh and delicious. We managed to get through a Tawa and a Chicken Parmesan; the plates were empty at the end of the meal. The kids are picky eaters, but they ate all the food here, no problems. Thank you once again for making this experience as stress free and enjoyable as possible! Will definitely be back again with the next birthday meal In Shaa Allah 🙏

Best food I've had in Derby, so many different options and flavours. The decor is so nice and I love the colour scheme. Did my cousins 18th here and booked the whole of the upstairs. Staff were really attentive and lovely.

My son has autism so going out to restaurants can be difficult for him. Sharaz the manager on duty was soo accommodating and welcoming to my son’s needs. He went out of his way to make sure he was comfortable and was at ease.Thank you for your help

Food is always 10/10. Portions are big really good value for money. The best service there is in Derby. Wonderful atmosphere, we wouldn’t go anywhere else!

This is my go to restaurant in Derby. My family and I eat here often; the owner and his front of house team are very hospitable and lovely. The prayer room upstairs is amazing as my family plan our day around praying 5 times a day, this just makes eating out in the evenings so much easier. As well as the atmosphere, the food is absolutely lovely, we don’t finish our food but we always ask for containers to take it home lol It’s one of our favourites and we will certainly be returning in a few weeks.

Myself and a group of friends went to tarka on Friday 31st of may and absolutely loved the food and the amazing service provided by the staff. They also went the extra mile and gave us complimentry items off the menu to try out such as some drinks and desserts. I just wanted to give a big shouout to sharaz and Issy again for a lovely end to our night out. Deffo will be coming back soon. Thank you!

Delicious food! Wow to the yummyness!! Definitely recommend just for the food. Decor was lovely and had a special feel to it. The waiter was lovely and polite and was happy to serve us. We did seem to wait a while to get asked for our order though and also for our main after our starter. Possibly a bit of confusion and miscommunication as we wanted one starter with the main. Poor waiter guy didn't know though. He was really lovely!! The food was delicious though and I highly recommend this place.

Food and service was very good 5/5. Very hospitable, friendly. Sheraz was very helpful and generous. He also suggested a few areas to visit on our tour around Staffordshire. Deffo reccomend this restaraunt.

Good friendly service, with a disco interior. A post office van wanted to take my parking space, the cheeky monkey. Otherwise parking space around the streets. Food was good, I ordered chicken wings( had nicer but good) , chilli chicken (could of been hotter), pilau rice, bindi, naan and poppadoms. All around £30. They don't serve alcohol.

We had a fantastic meal here last week. The food was sensational. It was so tasty, the meat was so tender and everything was so flavourful. The service was great. We felt really looked after and valued as customers. I really would give it a try. My friend recommended it and I’m so glad we went. The photo is of the food when we were halfway through it! There was so much we took some home!

Went here for iftar all the food was very nice, I find at most places starters are good then mains are a bit of a let down. But all 3 of the gosht/chicken/dhaal curries were on point and DELICIOUS! Would definitely go again. Service was good as well, waiter was friendly and helpful. Ambience was nice, decorated well (we were upstairs). BIG bonus they have mens and womens prayer rooms. Well done guys please keep it consistent!

I am very delighted with my visit here for Iftar today. I came with my niece and sister in law and the service and food was fantastic. Shiraz the manager was very humble and kind and recommended great food. Praying facilities available with men and women separate.

First visit with mates on Monday night and food was spot on. Great selection of curries and starters, all well cooked and flavorsome. Note that there is no alcohol license but not a problem for us as we'd sample a few beers at the Brunswick on the way 😁 Definitely worth a try if you're in town and fancy a curry.

First time I came here tonight with the family really enjoyed it we had to wait 20 mins for a table as it was full but acceptable. The lamb palak and the platter for 2 was nice and also the paprika chaat and chilli paneer we all loved the strawberry mojito!! And the blue lagoon the waiter was very freindly and we had a good chit chat down to earth guy will return back excellent family restaurant and very traditional food

Spectacular dishes, welcome, and service. This restaurant has large, well spaced tables that are spotlessly cleaned. Light is interestingly used with diffusers and mirrored walls. This creates a bright yet calm ambience. We enjoyed particularly the samosa chaat, byriani, and mushroom rice. All the dishes were well spiced and had such a variety of textures. The waiters are genuinely friendly and helpful.

Stumbled upon Tarka by accident and very glad I did. Excellent service, real old school quiet polite professionalism. Delicious food, hot plates, friendly and discreet service throughout. Yummy. Great value too. Definitely worth a revisit.

We went for our wedding anniversary and had the most amazing service and such a brilliant Staff...we were surprised with pappodom on the house .We ordered the lamb karahi and steak chicken ... both were excellent ...the manager topped the surprise with a dessert on the house ...atmosphere and music was very tasteful. Very nice ambience and tasty food. Good place to go to have dinner with family and friends. Very hospitable staff especially their manager Mr. Sheraz. We found parking on road in front which is free after 6pm.

Mine and my husbands favourite restaurant. We always come here on our date nights as we know the food is always going to be 10/10 and is amazing quality food - you know its cooked fresh and not just taken out of the freezer and warmed up! The main manager Shiraz, always gives us the best service and the atmosphere is really nice too. I definitely recommend the Achari Gosht - in my opinion the best dish on the menu!

Exceptional service, staff are very welcoming, friendly and well mannered. They go over and beyond to make you feel comfortable and keep checking up on your experience throughout which is lovely. I would recommend the Achari chicken & Gulafi seekh kebab for the starters as they were so tasty and there is a wide variety of curries to choose from which is great- the curries are full of flavour and not just spice. Check this place out for your next meal out you won’t regret it :)

Good service but not impressed with the food. The Jalfrezi was average, as was the Balti. Not a chilli in sight anywhere, the, Dhal was excellent though. The staff were very pleasant and it seems well supported but it just wasn't to our liking at all. It gave us plenty of heartburn and we love curries!

Pleasant experience eating here however the starter platter could've done with more flavour
