A place you probably wouldn’t know to try without digital media like Google maps and Tripadvisor. Tucked away off the main road and next to an off licence that’s handy if you want to buy alcohol for your meal (as it’s byo), this place is quite small but has friendly, polite staff and delivers good food at reasonable prices. Spent more than we probably would normally at a S Asian restaurant, but that was because we had starters as well. Recommend booking as it is clearly popular and was busy even on a midweek night.

Loads of confusion during this meal. Both waiters didnt speak english and so it was difficult to communicate. Food was delicious, but ordering it wasnt nearly as simple

A very nice restaurant with fantastic food. The food was delicious and VERY spicy as advertised.

I made a reservation over the phone last Monday for a meal using the wowcher voucher I had. I called the manager to confirm my reservation, he said they only honour one voucher per night and doesn’t have any availability even though I had booked this last week. I asked him where this information is stated on the voucher as there is no restrictions on it. He advised me to contact wowcher, I asked him for his details so I could forward to wowcher as it should be updated so in future other people are aware and then he refused to provide any details. He was very rude and didn’t attempt to provide me with a solution apart from making up his own terms and conditions

this place was better than expected. it's tucked away out of site which for those who like the place is good. only complaint was the table wasn't big enough for all the food 😁

Was looking for a place for Xmas day, so I ordered a takeaway to check out the food first before booking, I'm glad I did. The special chicken naga was awful, it was more like a red thai curry, so sweet and didn't resemble an Indian curry. Having found for hairs in it, it went straight in the bin.The dish is not what I ordered, it was not a naga, and the dish had never seen a naga chilli ever.

Amazing! Lovely food and very friendly, attentive staff. We have had tawa, butter chicken and desi- all meals were delicious. They are also collecting money for food charity so no one goes hungry this Christmas which is brilliant! Highly recommended

First time ordering from here via JustEat it came very quickly and still hot. I had the chicken korma which was lovely and creamy with lots of chicken and onion bhajees which were nice and crisp. Definitely will order again. Thanks.

Brilliant place for indian meal, cosy, friendly staff, very helpful, if you are not sure just ask and they will help as what would be probably the best choice for you.

Been here a few times in the last 6 months, its now our go-to curry! Yes, it's small, but the guys are always close by as a consequence! The old fella that does the fetching and carrying is sooooo sweet, always compliments my girls (not in a seedy way btw) it's like your dad / grandad bringing you your tea! Food is amazing, you will not leave here hungry either!! Prices are really reasonable for the quality too 👌 keep up the good work guys 👏 definitely give them a try If you haven't already 👍👍 rated #1 on trip advisor

All these reviews are just noncence tryed the food was terrible burnt garlic in the curry and it was way too thick. The small mixed kebab is just full of onions and no meat whatsoeveer and if there was meat its the tineyest pieces no point in saying its a mixed kebab might aswel called it mixed onions ridiculous and the lamb chops were chewy, food is very bad wont be ordering again

Hidden gem! Delicious curry with amazingly friendly staff, all in a lovely atmosphere. Since we are here for a few days, and found this on the first evening, we will be back!

Exceptional food, excellent service - we had a lovely evening last night. The food was delicious; everything had its own distinct flavour which made it particularly enjoyable. The service was attentive but low key; always there when we needed them but not overbearing. All the staff seemed to work well as a team and without exception were knowledgeable and professional. Really tasty meal, chicken Dansak nicest one i have eaten in a while. A bit on the pricey side but on balance worth paying the extra for Quality.

For a small place it delivers Big, decor clean and cosy, great service, had one of the best chicken tikka masala with garlic cheese naan wow was it soft and fluffy, stretchy cheese. If you order direct on their website it discounts your order, use the website payment form. My go-to place

Found this restaurant quite by chance as it's tucked away from the main road. The food was very good, the staff attentive and the surroundings very nice and cosy. Not licensed but there is an off licence next door.

Great little place with only about 20 covers or so. Although it seems much of their business is takeaway they somehow manage to stop it being too disruptive for seated diners. Food is unbeatable at this price ... I'm from West Mids so I think I know what I'm talking about re: Indian food 😂

Ordered 2 butter chicken on uber eats. Happy with everything however They was only a few peices of chicken in it. I would hope they put in more chicken next time No other issues Happy with every else

Called in this afternoon whilst staying in the area for a few days and although only serving takeaways the owner said we could eat in the restaurant. The food was amazing, one of the best curry's I have had.

Visited Bengal kitchen two weeks ago for the first time with 3 of my work colleagues after being told it’s a hidden gem in Chellaston! We were kindly greeted by Abdul who provided us with excellent service from start to end. For starters I had the lamb chops and asked for them to be cooked medium rare. The taste and temperature was perfect so I’d highly recommend to try them out as a starter. For mains I went for the king prawn Jalfrezi. The prawns were succulent and cooked just right. The spicy flavours were also just right . Thinking about it now is making my mouth water. My colleagues also throughly enjoyed their meal. We shall be back very soon Abdul :) Thank you again!

Really enjoyed my night out at the Bengal, Food was amazing and the aroma coming from the kitchen was mouth watering. Definitely recommend and would go again. Just bring your own wine or pop next door to the off licence.

Food was delicious, I was very impressed with the recommended curry by the staff. Meal for 2 price was a bargain and it was more than enough to feed 3 people with leftover for the next day. I wished this was my local, will definitely be back when I’m in the midlands. Thanks guys

I found the Bengal Kitchen through a wowcher offer, the setting is nice, the staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful nothing was too much trouble, I opted for the Lamb Madras and Lemon Chilli rice, and it was delicious, bring you own bottle, so took a couple of Cobras, they offer a meal deal which is the same price that wowcher were offering, this place is a hidden gem for a relaxed meal out, free on street parking, I will definitely be going back.

The place and service are really good. The food is tasty, the starters and the mains, but not a place for desserts. I ordered hazelnut cruncy but it's too frozen that I couldn't even spoon it. Even the nuts, I felt they are out of date too. When I confronted my distaste, surprisingly I'm told, "Everyone knows that the desserts are not freshly made". So, don't waste your money on desserts here.

The food here fantastic and it tasted even better due to the excellent service the staff provided for us. They recommend what dishes to have based on preference which was very kind. Would 100% eat here again!

Went for a meal with my partner, The restaurant had nice decor, was well lit, warm and welcomed by a friendly waiter. Plenty to choose from on the menu, The Desi Lamb Special was one of the best curry's I've had in a long time. Meat was lovely, sauce was tasty and presentation was spot on. The rice and naan bread was also very good. Price on standard menu is average but the specials offers are especially cheap for the quality of food.

Just had dinner before England match. The starter was the best I have tasted compared to any Indian up and down the country. The person who served us was friendly and knew his food and was more than happy to recommend dishes with our preferences in mind. Mains were tasty and full of flavour. Great recommend by Google while away for a short break.

Used this place on few occasions, food is good but the delivery driver was rude and also tried to over charge me by £7, luckily I asked the price when ordering, definitely not the regular driver but you should know your staff better…..be aware when ordering

This place ticked all the boxes from welcome to goodbye. The service was second to none. The food was full of flavours and aroma. The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and showed care for our requests and dietary requirements. The manager/owner was a lovely bubbly guy who showed passion and determination to thrive. Fabulous. Quite an unassuming place from the outside, but very atmospheric on the inside. The staff are delightful - really keen to ensure everything is ok and clearly very proud of their restaurant. And they should be - the food is delicious, portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable. I drove 30 miles to visit the Bengal Kitchen and would happily go back regularly.

Went for dinner Yesterday. Service was fantastic, the food was delicious and the price was really good, get the set meal and eat in and it's one of the cheapest places around for great tasting food!

Amazing Intimate service provided. The food is beautifully presented, piping hot from the kitchen and tastes superb. I have recommended this place to everyone I know and will absolutely be returning again and again. You will not be disappointed.

It is a very friendly place. Family atmosphere. Very good food. Relaxed and enjoyable. I have been there twice and it will be going regularly as it's a nice evening. 3 adults for 3 courses. £42, so well priced meal.

Excellent food, very enjoyable evening

I booked a table for a birthday meal and Bengal Kitchen were able to accommodate a larger party, making a large table which allowed us all to sit together which was great. Both the food and service was fantastic, with each course arriving for all of the party at the same time so no one was left waiting. The staff were very friendly and made an effort with the children and even washed the children's cutlery for us. There was an honest mistake made on the bill and Bengal Kitchen made sure this was corrected as soon as they were made aware. Overall, we had a great evening and would certainly recommend!

What a great find and proves that you don’t need to go to big established restaurants to eat quality food. We had a perfect family Diwali meal. Great atmosphere, service and above all really good quality food. Decent portions and great offers to choose from. You won’t be disappointed.

First time trying this place, we went on date night, was greeted at the door immediately and sat at our table by a very friendly gentleman, very comfortable and cosy place, brilliant prices at 13.99 each for a set menu, manager recommended my food and went above and beyond for encouraging me to try new things, garlic chicken tikka masala was the best I’ve ever had. Brilliant service, will be going again.

Really good! We ate here twice whilst on a short break in the area. Luckily, we’d booked - it’s obviously a really popular restaurant. The food was excellent, plentiful and very good value. Service was great - friendly and professional. Recommended and would definitely eat here again if in the area.

1st time trying this place, has a cosy atmosphere, nice and clean. Great value for the set menu at £14 per person! Papadoms and a generous serving of pickle tray, nicely presented and tasty starters, followed by delicious curry with a choice of nuns and rice which was also excellent and a scoop of ice cream to finish. The only problem I have is the time it takes between courses, could be a bit more fluid as it is a weekday and not that busy, but overall a pleasant experience.

By far the best place for a curry in Derby. Abdul and the team are always welcoming and never forget a name, always a first class and personal service. The food is always spot on and menu offers a variety of tasteful dishes. Highly recommended!
