Had a lovely takeaway from here today, curries were really tasty & everything was piping hot. Really nice food that was enjoyed by everyone :)

SPANKIN 5* - we stopped going hear under the previous owners as it just went downhill. We had a takeaway tonight & it was absolutely spot on - great food, cooked really well & friendly staff / owners. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Really competitively priced as-well, so this is going to be a new favourite for me & my family. Will certainly be trying sit in too in the future. Well done guys, keep up the good work👏

Popped in after work after seeing the great reviews and took advantage of the mid week set menu for £18.99. The menu looked great with some dishes I hadn't seen before so I just asked the owner to choose something for me. Chicken Tikka starter followed by a Chicken Tikka Rangpuri with a cheese and garlic naan was brought out. Absolutely top quality food, really nice and fresh. Not stodgy or overpowering and well cooked. They're building up their business gradually after taking over 4 months ago and will definitely get my business next time I'm in town. Recommended......

Been around the world, but this place the food was amazing. We loved it so much will be back again.

Collected a takeaway from here for the first time, recently - lamb balti, lamb madras, 2 pilau rice and 2 garlic & cheese naan. There were just 7 small cubes of meat in each curry - do they count it out?? The balti sauce was *ok* but not a balti, just a generic base sauce with a heavy dose of black pepper, as was the 'madras'. In fact, it was hard to distinguish between the two. I find it really offensive, and an insult to my intelligence, when an Indian restaurant thinks the average Joe bloggs doesn't know what a balti or madras should taste like, and thinks we won't even know we're just getting a basic curry sauce with black pepper in. The cheese garlic bread was nice, but we won't be going here again. A balti should be fragrant and aromatic, NOT peppery.

Poor. I have used this takeaway many times in the past but I'm afraid I won't be buying from here again. The quality of the food has gone downhill recently, and both of our meals were poorly cooked and lacked flavour. 3/10. Go elsewhere.

A very busy night to be sure for Bengal Kitchen but that didn’t stop us being attended to like we were the only ones there. Lovely friendly chats with the owners, a real warm atmosphere. Found Bengali Kitchen while searching the Derby area, what a surprise, fabulous food, great atmosphere and service. I had a Chicken Biryani and a Chicken Vindaloo. The Vindaloo was one of the best I've had and the Biryani was a revelation. I will be going again soon and I hope to see you there as well.

After a previous bad experience some time decided to retry a take away due to apparently being under new management but unfortunately for us it still wasn't great, had butter chicken which should be re named coconut chicken and the cheese and garlic nan didnt seem to have any cheese or garlic so needless to say we will not be returning in a hurry.

First time coming since the new owners have taken over. We have always enjoyed coming here for a curry, but tonight with the new owners, the food was brilliant- especially the Onion Bhaji and naan breads. Lovely service and looking forward to coming again, thank you!

Visited Bengal Kitchen on a late Wednesday night. Meal and service great. Had the desi chicken and it was so tasty and nicely cooked. Partner had a lamb curry and lamb was cooked beautifully. Really good portions too. Staff were attentive and helpful and offered to cook various dishes at different spice levels. Lovely down to earth staff. It's a small resturant but a little gem. Really enjoyed it here and would visit again.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Plenty of meat in tasty sauces. Add to that friendly conversation with the owner and smiling service from the young waiter. Would definitely return if we are in this area again.

8 of us, from various locations in the UK, descended on here on the evening of Tuesday 21 May for one of our regular catch ups; this is the 3rd Curry House we've been to, and have to say it was by far and away the best. It really doesn't look much, stuck away on a housing estate (I thought my SatNav had taken me to the wrong place) but don't let that deceive you. We were welcome warmly by the staff and shown to our table; there is no alcohol licence, but as we'd all driven many miles we had all brough alcohol free beer with us, or took advantage of the soft drinks availble. The Mixed Starter Platter x 4 was ample for the 8 of us, that followed the obligatory popadoms and pickle trays, and all was superb. We ordered ala carte and nobody had a bad word for anything that they ordered. The company, the conversation was enhanced by the food and I'm sure we will be usig this location again for our catch ups.

We booked in advance for a Saturday at six pm .whist there no other dine in guests appeared . There is no license but we bought some wine at the local shop . Our popadoms were reheated and not great . I had a bengal special which included shrimp .the shrimp had decimated into tiny bits the chicken was dry .for a house special it was very disappointing .my husband had a lamb dish which was lamb in what seemed to be a lot of tomato puree which had had plentyof sugar added to it . Very disappointing indeed . The alloo gobi was nice as was the garlic naan .fifty pounds without the wine for a less than mediocre meal .i wonder if the usual chef was not on duty

We found this little gem on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the four course surgical with extras. Starter was delicious with the needed kebab having onion bhaji with it. Main courses were really substantial with loads of chicken and sauce. The choice of nan breads and distention rice's were so good and everything was exceptional. Staff were lovely and we left nicely full too. 10/10 from us.

Delivery order said 60 mins. 1 hour 30mins later still no food. Rang up and got told delivery had left then had the phone put down on me. Not the best service for a new customer. Hope the food is OK when it eventually arrives.

When we walked in we were shocked at how small the place was. The tables are quite close together but it wasn’t very busy so we were spread out. 4 course includes 1 poppadom each and a pickle tray. (Extra poppadom for £1 each) Any starter Any curry Any rice or naan (exclude lamb tikka or seafood) Small bowl of vanilla ice cream. Food was tasty overall. I’d say the starters were on the small side and the meat in the curry isn’t the best quality but can’t complain for less than £15 each. We left feeling stuffed and the service was good so no complaints over all. Take your own alcohol - they sell soft drinks. Would return.

This was our first time at this highly rated( No.1 on TripAdvisor in Derby). From the minute we walked in, we experienced poor customer service... we booked in advance and informed the front of house staff on arrival. They just pointed to a table and didn't even ask our name or welcome us to the restaurant. It got worse when we sat down, I had purchased a Wowcher voucher that should give us a four course meal... the manager/owner came over and said we had to book in advance to use it, which I explained we had on their website... then he said we should have phoned. Then he said he'd told Wowcher to stop the deal that runs until July 2024 that they signed up to? He then agreed he would honour the deal just this once, as I explained it was for new customers only it was only going to be used once. It got worse still... The four course meal went to a 2 1/2 course! poppadoms and pickles, no starter, a main course, vanilla ice cream, and then coffee. We ate the meal, which was very nice... we didn't want the ice cream or coffee and explained that because we did have extra rice at £3.90 could that be knocked off the bill? No! He would not budge, so I explained that it had been a terrible experience from start to finish and he had lost our custom...he was not bothered at all. There are much better restaurants in Derby, save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.

The restaurant manager has led this establishment for more than a decade. Despite relocating within Derby over the last 7 years and experimenting with various local curry houses to minimize the commute, we consistently found ourselves dissatisfied. Having explored the entire menu, it's clear that every dish is meticulously handcrafted, and each meal has consistently exceeded expectations. This dedication is why we willingly travel a considerable distance – the assurance of a flawless dining experience every time. The friendly staff further enhance our curry nights. Small local restaurant with good food, but young staff are not very experienced yet.

A place you probably wouldn’t know to try without digital media like Google maps and Tripadvisor. Tucked away off the main road and next to an off licence that’s handy if you want to buy alcohol for your meal (as it’s byo), this place is quite small but has friendly, polite staff and delivers good food at reasonable prices. Spent more than we probably would normally at a S Asian restaurant, but that was because we had starters as well. Recommend booking as it is clearly popular and was busy even on a midweek night.

Loads of confusion during this meal. Both waiters didnt speak english and so it was difficult to communicate. Food was delicious, but ordering it wasnt nearly as simple

A very nice restaurant with fantastic food. The food was delicious and VERY spicy as advertised.

I made a reservation over the phone last Monday for a meal using the wowcher voucher I had. I called the manager to confirm my reservation, he said they only honour one voucher per night and doesn’t have any availability even though I had booked this last week. I asked him where this information is stated on the voucher as there is no restrictions on it. He advised me to contact wowcher, I asked him for his details so I could forward to wowcher as it should be updated so in future other people are aware and then he refused to provide any details. He was very rude and didn’t attempt to provide me with a solution apart from making up his own terms and conditions

this place was better than expected. it's tucked away out of site which for those who like the place is good. only complaint was the table wasn't big enough for all the food 😁

Was looking for a place for Xmas day, so I ordered a takeaway to check out the food first before booking, I'm glad I did. The special chicken naga was awful, it was more like a red thai curry, so sweet and didn't resemble an Indian curry. Having found for hairs in it, it went straight in the bin.The dish is not what I ordered, it was not a naga, and the dish had never seen a naga chilli ever.
