It was amazing, busy because it was new year's eve but worth the wait.

We has a delicious new year's meal. There was quite a wait because of the new year's rush but the meal was well worth the wait. JJ was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. What a lovely lady.

Very lovely staff great customer service they treat you like a family when you come in front of house JJ is very lovely and warm and welcoming would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a curry

First time coming since the new owners have taken over. We have always enjoyed coming here for a curry, but tonight with the new owners, the food was brilliant- especially the Onion Bhaji and naan breads. Lovely service and looking forward to coming again, thank you!

Visited Bengal Kitchen on a late Wednesday night. Meal and service great. Had the desi chicken and it was so tasty and nicely cooked. Partner had a lamb curry and lamb was cooked beautifully. Really good portions too. Staff were attentive and helpful and offered to cook various dishes at different spice levels. Lovely down to earth staff. It's a small resturant but a little gem. Really enjoyed it here and would visit again.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Plenty of meat in tasty sauces. Add to that friendly conversation with the owner and smiling service from the young waiter. Would definitely return if we are in this area again.

8 of us, from various locations in the UK, descended on here on the evening of Tuesday 21 May for one of our regular catch ups; this is the 3rd Curry House we've been to, and have to say it was by far and away the best. It really doesn't look much, stuck away on a housing estate (I thought my SatNav had taken me to the wrong place) but don't let that deceive you. We were welcome warmly by the staff and shown to our table; there is no alcohol licence, but as we'd all driven many miles we had all brough alcohol free beer with us, or took advantage of the soft drinks availble. The Mixed Starter Platter x 4 was ample for the 8 of us, that followed the obligatory popadoms and pickle trays, and all was superb. We ordered ala carte and nobody had a bad word for anything that they ordered. The company, the conversation was enhanced by the food and I'm sure we will be usig this location again for our catch ups.

We booked in advance for a Saturday at six pm .whist there no other dine in guests appeared . There is no license but we bought some wine at the local shop . Our popadoms were reheated and not great . I had a bengal special which included shrimp .the shrimp had decimated into tiny bits the chicken was dry .for a house special it was very disappointing .my husband had a lamb dish which was lamb in what seemed to be a lot of tomato puree which had had plentyof sugar added to it . Very disappointing indeed . The alloo gobi was nice as was the garlic naan .fifty pounds without the wine for a less than mediocre meal .i wonder if the usual chef was not on duty

We found this little gem on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the four course surgical with extras. Starter was delicious with the needed kebab having onion bhaji with it. Main courses were really substantial with loads of chicken and sauce. The choice of nan breads and distention rice's were so good and everything was exceptional. Staff were lovely and we left nicely full too. 10/10 from us.

Delivery order said 60 mins. 1 hour 30mins later still no food. Rang up and got told delivery had left then had the phone put down on me. Not the best service for a new customer. Hope the food is OK when it eventually arrives.

I had a take- away, food was warm enough, service very good , pleasant delivery man and quality of food very good too.

When we walked in we were shocked at how small the place was. The tables are quite close together but it wasn’t very busy so we were spread out. 4 course includes 1 poppadom each and a pickle tray. (Extra poppadom for £1 each) Any starter Any curry Any rice or naan (exclude lamb tikka or seafood) Small bowl of vanilla ice cream. Food was tasty overall. I’d say the starters were on the small side and the meat in the curry isn’t the best quality but can’t complain for less than £15 each. We left feeling stuffed and the service was good so no complaints over all. Take your own alcohol - they sell soft drinks. Would return.

This was our first time at this highly rated( No.1 on TripAdvisor in Derby). From the minute we walked in, we experienced poor customer service... we booked in advance and informed the front of house staff on arrival. They just pointed to a table and didn't even ask our name or welcome us to the restaurant. It got worse when we sat down, I had purchased a Wowcher voucher that should give us a four course meal... the manager/owner came over and said we had to book in advance to use it, which I explained we had on their website... then he said we should have phoned. Then he said he'd told Wowcher to stop the deal that runs until July 2024 that they signed up to? He then agreed he would honour the deal just this once, as I explained it was for new customers only it was only going to be used once. It got worse still... The four course meal went to a 2 1/2 course! poppadoms and pickles, no starter, a main course, vanilla ice cream, and then coffee. We ate the meal, which was very nice... we didn't want the ice cream or coffee and explained that because we did have extra rice at £3.90 could that be knocked off the bill? No! He would not budge, so I explained that it had been a terrible experience from start to finish and he had lost our custom...he was not bothered at all. There are much better restaurants in Derby, save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.

The restaurant manager has led this establishment for more than a decade. Despite relocating within Derby over the last 7 years and experimenting with various local curry houses to minimize the commute, we consistently found ourselves dissatisfied. Having explored the entire menu, it's clear that every dish is meticulously handcrafted, and each meal has consistently exceeded expectations. This dedication is why we willingly travel a considerable distance – the assurance of a flawless dining experience every time. The friendly staff further enhance our curry nights. Small local restaurant with good food, but young staff are not very experienced yet.

A place you probably wouldn’t know to try without digital media like Google maps and Tripadvisor. Tucked away off the main road and next to an off licence that’s handy if you want to buy alcohol for your meal (as it’s byo), this place is quite small but has friendly, polite staff and delivers good food at reasonable prices. Spent more than we probably would normally at a S Asian restaurant, but that was because we had starters as well. Recommend booking as it is clearly popular and was busy even on a midweek night.

Loads of confusion during this meal. Both waiters didnt speak english and so it was difficult to communicate. Food was delicious, but ordering it wasnt nearly as simple

A very nice restaurant with fantastic food. The food was delicious and VERY spicy as advertised.

I made a reservation over the phone last Monday for a meal using the wowcher voucher I had. I called the manager to confirm my reservation, he said they only honour one voucher per night and doesn’t have any availability even though I had booked this last week. I asked him where this information is stated on the voucher as there is no restrictions on it. He advised me to contact wowcher, I asked him for his details so I could forward to wowcher as it should be updated so in future other people are aware and then he refused to provide any details. He was very rude and didn’t attempt to provide me with a solution apart from making up his own terms and conditions

this place was better than expected. it's tucked away out of site which for those who like the place is good. only complaint was the table wasn't big enough for all the food 😁

Was looking for a place for Xmas day, so I ordered a takeaway to check out the food first before booking, I'm glad I did. The special chicken naga was awful, it was more like a red thai curry, so sweet and didn't resemble an Indian curry. Having found for hairs in it, it went straight in the bin.The dish is not what I ordered, it was not a naga, and the dish had never seen a naga chilli ever.

I live at the other end of town but it's worth the drive. Fabulous food, fabulous service and never let's me down.

First time ordering from here via JustEat it came very quickly and still hot. I had the chicken korma which was lovely and creamy with lots of chicken and onion bhajees which were nice and crisp. Definitely will order again. Thanks.

Been here a few times in the last 6 months, its now our go-to curry! Yes, it's small, but the guys are always close by as a consequence! The old fella that does the fetching and carrying is sooooo sweet, always compliments my girls (not in a seedy way btw) it's like your dad / grandad bringing you your tea! Food is amazing, you will not leave here hungry either!! Prices are really reasonable for the quality too 👌 keep up the good work guys 👏 definitely give them a try If you haven't already 👍👍 rated #1 on trip advisor

All these reviews are just noncence tryed the food was terrible burnt garlic in the curry and it was way too thick. The small mixed kebab is just full of onions and no meat whatsoeveer and if there was meat its the tineyest pieces no point in saying its a mixed kebab might aswel called it mixed onions ridiculous and the lamb chops were chewy, food is very bad wont be ordering again

Exceptional food, excellent service - we had a lovely evening last night. The food was delicious; everything had its own distinct flavour which made it particularly enjoyable. The service was attentive but low key; always there when we needed them but not overbearing. All the staff seemed to work well as a team and without exception were knowledgeable and professional. Really tasty meal, chicken Dansak nicest one i have eaten in a while. A bit on the pricey side but on balance worth paying the extra for Quality.

For a small place it delivers Big, decor clean and cosy, great service, had one of the best chicken tikka masala with garlic cheese naan wow was it soft and fluffy, stretchy cheese. If you order direct on their website it discounts your order, use the website payment form. My go-to place

Great little place with only about 20 covers or so. Although it seems much of their business is takeaway they somehow manage to stop it being too disruptive for seated diners. Food is unbeatable at this price ... I'm from West Mids so I think I know what I'm talking about re: Indian food 😂

Found this restaurant quite by chance as it's tucked away from the main road. The food was very good, the staff attentive and the surroundings very nice and cosy. Not licensed but there is an off licence next door.

Called in this afternoon whilst staying in the area for a few days and although only serving takeaways the owner said we could eat in the restaurant. The food was amazing, one of the best curry's I have had.

Visited Bengal kitchen two weeks ago for the first time with 3 of my work colleagues after being told it’s a hidden gem in Chellaston! We were kindly greeted by Abdul who provided us with excellent service from start to end. For starters I had the lamb chops and asked for them to be cooked medium rare. The taste and temperature was perfect so I’d highly recommend to try them out as a starter. For mains I went for the king prawn Jalfrezi. The prawns were succulent and cooked just right. The spicy flavours were also just right . Thinking about it now is making my mouth water. My colleagues also throughly enjoyed their meal. We shall be back very soon Abdul :) Thank you again!

Food was delicious, I was very impressed with the recommended curry by the staff. Meal for 2 price was a bargain and it was more than enough to feed 3 people with leftover for the next day. I wished this was my local, will definitely be back when I’m in the midlands. Thanks guys

Really enjoyed my night out at the Bengal, Food was amazing and the aroma coming from the kitchen was mouth watering. Definitely recommend and would go again. Just bring your own wine or pop next door to the off licence.

I found the Bengal Kitchen through a wowcher offer, the setting is nice, the staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful nothing was too much trouble, I opted for the Lamb Madras and Lemon Chilli rice, and it was delicious, bring you own bottle, so took a couple of Cobras, they offer a meal deal which is the same price that wowcher were offering, this place is a hidden gem for a relaxed meal out, free on street parking, I will definitely be going back.

The place and service are really good. The food is tasty, the starters and the mains, but not a place for desserts. I ordered hazelnut cruncy but it's too frozen that I couldn't even spoon it. Even the nuts, I felt they are out of date too. When I confronted my distaste, surprisingly I'm told, "Everyone knows that the desserts are not freshly made". So, don't waste your money on desserts here.

The food here fantastic and it tasted even better due to the excellent service the staff provided for us. They recommend what dishes to have based on preference which was very kind. Would 100% eat here again!

Went for a meal with my partner, The restaurant had nice decor, was well lit, warm and welcomed by a friendly waiter. Plenty to choose from on the menu, The Desi Lamb Special was one of the best curry's I've had in a long time. Meat was lovely, sauce was tasty and presentation was spot on. The rice and naan bread was also very good. Price on standard menu is average but the specials offers are especially cheap for the quality of food.

Just had dinner before England match. The starter was the best I have tasted compared to any Indian up and down the country. The person who served us was friendly and knew his food and was more than happy to recommend dishes with our preferences in mind. Mains were tasty and full of flavour. Great recommend by Google while away for a short break.

Used this place on few occasions, food is good but the delivery driver was rude and also tried to over charge me by £7, luckily I asked the price when ordering, definitely not the regular driver but you should know your staff better…..be aware when ordering

This place ticked all the boxes from welcome to goodbye. The service was second to none. The food was full of flavours and aroma. The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and showed care for our requests and dietary requirements. The manager/owner was a lovely bubbly guy who showed passion and determination to thrive. Fabulous. Quite an unassuming place from the outside, but very atmospheric on the inside. The staff are delightful - really keen to ensure everything is ok and clearly very proud of their restaurant. And they should be - the food is delicious, portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable. I drove 30 miles to visit the Bengal Kitchen and would happily go back regularly.

Went for dinner Yesterday. Service was fantastic, the food was delicious and the price was really good, get the set meal and eat in and it's one of the cheapest places around for great tasting food!

It is a very friendly place. Family atmosphere. Very good food. Relaxed and enjoyable. I have been there twice and it will be going regularly as it's a nice evening. 3 adults for 3 courses. £42, so well priced meal.
