Stayed around the corner from this pub and had a drink at lunch time on Saturday. They didn't serve Strongbow, but did other ciders and the service is excellent. We went out for Sunday lunch, but it was Father's Day so we could not eat anywhere. Unbeknownst to us the pubs in Wales don't open on Mondays and Tuesdays and some not on Wednesdays either. The Tanners Arms doesn't open until 3pm on Wednesdays, but we managed to get a booking for that night. Absolutely wonderful meal, excellently cooked and loads of it. We highly recommend this place, but pick your days.

Having just finished a family mountain walk, I telephoned to book. The fire was lit for us and a table set. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The locals were chatty and friendly. The food was fantastic with large portions and a good variety. The pizzas were amazing! I will certainly return! A gem of a proper pub!

Ate out here on a Monday early evening during August as a family of six. Arrived to be shown to a table by the entrance door and made our choice from the menus, only to be told that the 'pie of the day' was chicken but there was only one left. No matter, those who would have wanted pie instead chose from the pizza menu. Slightly disappointed that it took an hour for our meals to arrive - yes, it was busy and we are in unusual times, but 'keeping the customer informed' doesn't take too much effort! Pizzas were okay, 'home cooked' pie was okay but nothing special and bar staff were functional rather than friendly.

Four of us came here to eat on New Year's day. A cosy pub with nice beer choices. The menu is somewhat limited - vegetarian food was available on asking. (There's also a pizza menu). The food portions were small for the money. I had a goat's cheese tart which was nothing special, with very good, delicious chips but a tiny portion of garden peas - I could have eaten three times the amount. Why do people scrimp on vegetables? I thought at £11.95 this was over priced - I reckon it was worth £8.95. The other three had steak, ribs and scampi - they all said the meals were tasty. We finished with a sharing trio of locally made ice creams (£4.95). These were very nice indeed. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. (I didn't say anything at the time because it's sometimes awkward to do so when you've been invited out for a meal by someone).

Stayed 1 night, really nice single room, cosy and warm. Very welcoming and spotlessly clean. Had a very nice bar meal and a very good breakfast. Close to Storey Arms as I was going up Pen y Fan. Highly recommend.

Six of us went to the tanners for meal and drinks last night. They had a great range of craft ciders and slightly limited menu but good food. The welcome though was amazing with the pub decorated for Halloween, apple bobbing, donut dangling and a pumpkin piñata. We were made to feel really welcome and the kids had a great evening. One to recommend. Thanks

Only stayed one night together with some friends from North Wales. Nice little pub with excellent beer and cider and good food.Very happy to recommend. As only rooms for 5pax (2 dble + 1 single), pre-booking of the overnight accomodation essential.

Special meal arranged for special birthday by family, eaten here few times before always been very good pub grub, new brush installed but not up to scratch , staff very nice but let down massively by slow food service and poor quality food , over cooked , under cooked , presentation nil points, I very rarely give poor reviews tending to try and find some good points, here I have struggled, shame but there you have it , needs a massive injection of quality and someone who can cook.for now we won't be back .

After visiting Sennybridge for the first time last summer we found great comfort and wonderful food at the Tanner's arms. Sadly when we returned this year, we were turned away due to a very large party of 14 taking up the restaurant. A very disappointing evening, though we were able to discover the newly renovated Old Yew Tree pub just down the road.

We arrived mid afternoon on a dreary rainy day. The pub was closed and there was a sign on the front door (which looked in need of a coat of paint!) advising those wishing to check in to call what is presumably the owner's landline. We didn't want to bother anyone so went for a walk at the nearby Brecon Beacons Visitor's Centre and returned later as the pub was just about due to open. The owner was very friendly and took us to our room which was clean, cosy and comfortable. There are three rooms which are accessed via a key coded door at the rear of the pub. There was a wide selection of books and maps available in the hallway with lots of info about local walks and places to visit. The pub was cosy and the food was delicious with plenty of choice. Nice atmosphere later on in the bar when some of the locals arrived. Would recommend this place for a walking weekend.

A lovely stone village pub with much character which also provides B&B rooms. A good selection of 'real ales' and an interesting menu. All the food is home cooked and much of the produce is sourced locally. Just the place to start or finish a hard walk on the Brecon Beacons. The food is filling and well presented.

Booked this pub at very last minute and were pleased to get in somewhere. The room was small but nicely decorated with new en suite. Also nice big mugs for tea and coffee in room which is a bonus. Bit cold when we arrived all over the pub but it warmed up later. We ate in the restaurant which wasn't busy - the sea bass fillet with almonds was very good. My husband had lamb shank but said it was quite boring - however everything was well cooked to order. The owners and staff very friendly. Lots of real ale for those who like that sort of thing and the owners seemed extremely knowledgeable on ales etc. They even had low alcohol Stowford Press which was a treat for me as I don't drink much. Sat in the bar with locals playing dominoes, cards and watching Jools and fireworks on telly. Overall a very pleasant evening all round.

My partner and I stayed at the Tanners Arms for 2 nights on a deal, which included a 3 course meal on the first night. The food is freshly cooked to order, well presented and extremly tasty. We were specifically impressed with the hot plates which kept the food warm throughout the meal. We had originally decided to eat elsewhere on the second night to try something different, but as our first meal was so good - and the breakfast the following morning was one of the best I have had - we opted to eat again on the second night. Again, we were not disappointed. The staff are very accommodating and helpful and after each meal the chef came out for a chat to ask how we liked it.We found the accommodation spotless and extremely comfortable. The only very small complaint would be the lack of power in the shower, but we forgave that in view of the other pluses. Will hopefully be back shortly. :)Lisa and Ken, Barry, South Wales

Very misleading and very poor customer service. The terms and conditions in regards to bookings and deposits are misleading and not clearly stated on the web site no. We made a reservation for one room (only availability at the time) and payment of £20.00 was taken. 10 mins later we called to cancel the booking and explained that we had found alternative accommodation for two rooms. However the deposit they had taken they were now saying was a "non refundable" deposit (surely this needs to be clearly stated at the time of booking) we have just lost £20 in 10 mins. Disgusted with the service as the room can be re-booked given the booking was in 17 days time.

My wife and I stayed at the Tanners Arms when we attended the Rally GB. The room was lovely and clean, the room was round the corner away from the pub front, so it was very quiet and never heard anything at all, we both slept very well. The Staff/Family who run the Tanners Arms could not be anymore friendly, and the service was second to none. We eat in the restaurant on both evenings of our stay and the meals we very good. The breakfast was super. We will stay hear again no problem and would recommend it to anyone!

We arrived tired and hungry after a long day on the road, the duty manager, Dave, along with the other locals was very friendly. Staff were attentive - nothing was too much trouble. There was an extensive choice of real ale. However the food was average at best, whitebait served on a cold plate, lamb shank - more “jus” than meat - was served with chips and cannonball peas, the vegetable passandra bland and uninspiring. You may be surprised to learn that we were back at the Pub (staying only 50 yards away) two days later, a convenient place to meet a friend. The atmosphere was rather different – the landlady herself was in charge and the friendly, caring, attentive service just was not there. Service and attitude were very casual, short measure in the ale and a very limited menu choice – all offerings overcooked and tasteless.I recommend the pub for the extensive range of beer and old world charm but sadly not the food.

After an unfriendly experience at the nearby New Inn @ Ystradfellte, we went to the Tanners Arms. A different world altogether. Great selection of local and guest ales, board games, pool/darts and friendly staff. We were 9 in total and they could not have been more accommodating. The food was excellent, succulent starters - black puddings, tempura prawns and pates, followed by delicious local mains - lamb in all its succulent forms, fish and vegetarian options - also excellent value. The chef even gave us all a lift back to our lodging after our meal. The bar staff were friendly as we merrily drank, ate and played bar games. If you are looking for quality food, and good ales in a rural pub near Brecon this is it - cannot recommend this highly enough. A big thank you to all the staff.

Definitely not the fine dining experience promised! Very disappointed, mediocre food with overcooked vegetables. Knew we were going to be disappointed when offered cheese savouries (think 1970’s party food) as an appetiser! Salt and pepper squid - lacking either salt or pepper but with the addition of soggy parsnip crisps and grapes. The waiting staff were pleasant!

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop
