Really good food freshly cooked to order hence the waiting time is longer but well worth the wait a wide range of food available and reasonably priced

Honestly absolutely amazing Indian food! Won't get it from elsewhere even from places that deliver (tandoori cottage doesn't), but still won't go elsewhere as food is incredible here. The owners are lovely too. You can bring your own alcohol as they only sell non alcoholic drinks, but they are more than happy for customers to bring their own. Very relaxed atmosphere, not bothered by staff every two mins, go can enjoy yourselves in peace.

This is my favourite Indian in Shrewsbury. Lovely food. Friendly staff. Thank you 😀

We have not had a takeaway Indian for over a year as we have struggled to find a nice one in Shrewsbury. We were recommended Tandoori cottage and were not disappointed, the chicken was lovely and tender, nan bread was fantastic and all the food was piping hot, we will definitely be eating here again

If you love a curry like we do then this place is the best ive come across in shrewsbury and belive me ive tried every curry place in shrewsbury and this is far the nicest.

Excellent take-away. The naan breads (we had garlic) are out of this world. I had a Vindaloo (pictured) which was good taste (not just a base curry with loads of chilli in it). Impressed - we will be back !

We went for dinner on Sunday. the grumpy waiter who took the food order looked quite annoyed I pointed this out ... we asked staff a question about a main course and he had no idea. struggled with English. Also he took drinks order and disappeared for 15 mins. food arrived and was cold. very disappointing. No one came to ask if we wanted more drinks or if the meal was ok... very slow service and not pleasant at all.....won’t be going again

We asked if they served vegan food, they said yes. Sweet. We go home and there's a boiled egg sitting on top of the curry. Flavourwise definitely up there with the worst Indian curries we've had. We bought 3 different dishes and each one somehow tasted indistinguishable from each other and pretty bad. There seemed to be an attempt to substitute flavour with excess oil.

One of the best Indians I have ever had. Will definitely be back.

Moved to Montford Bridge, so had been using Saffron Cottage. However, so much happier with quality, flavour and service from Tandoori Cottage. Worth the longer drive and food was hot - foil containers clearly better for takeaways

Have been visiting the Tandoori Cottage for 25 years. Recently reopened the restaurant which has been sorely missed for the past 18 months. Food great as always. The owners and staff as welcoming as ever. Definitely the best Indian food in town.

Come here quite often. Always lovely food, its our go to for a takeaway. We've sat down for meals a few times too and that's also been lovely.

Absolute Quality Indian and we drive over from Heath Farm to pick it up! Have tried many Indian takeaways in the town, but none can shine a light to the cottage. Class food, great staff and a great owner. The negative reviews (ignoring the bad grammar and spelling) are very strange indeed.. almost "bot" like!

We newly moved to the area and ordered a chicken tikka masala, it was basically a tub of sauce with a skewer of chicken tikka just thrown in it, I rang up to see if this was some kind of mistake, there answer was “ different cities different portions” like I know times are hard... but it was the smallest amount of chicken I have ever seen in a tikka masala. Will not be ordering again. Everyone raved about this place, so I said I would try. Back to the Onslow we go. I would rather travel further for better portions and value for money.

Disappointed tonight, totally get we all trying to recoup what we have lost since lock down, but come on guys, when I pay 22.00 for a lot of sauce and hardly any meat, not good. Sauce tasted amazing but some content in it would be awesome, you are not going to gain customers that way, we won't be using you again sorry, good luck with your sauce 😞

Always tasty and sensible price

Sometimes very baffled by the poor comments and bad language. Used this place for over 20 odd years finding the staff very friendly and the boss very hard working. In my opinion, the food is always very good having just about trying everything on the menu. Sometimes you may have to wait a little longer for your food due to amount of orders but well worth the wait. Big lover of Chicken Pathia, or Dansak.

Great Indian food, friendly staff, not expensive. Inside gets a tad too warm but that might be just me.

Brilliant food and service will be coming again

We’ve used this takeaway for years. We drove to it from Shawbury and now from close to Wem. Always get a good meal at a reasonable price. Have also visited the restaurant and taken own wine.

The chicken tika masala was a too sweet, especially when paired with the naan (which I think was an onion naan); but the lamb rogan Josh was delicious. Would definitely go back, but choose a different menu item.

We went as a family of 5 for a curry, three of which had never been before and I must say we had a lovely evening. Food and service all excellent. We took our own alcohol and we had a very good evening. I would recommend.

Take away is mostly lovely. Although had a naan bread from there that tasted like the garlic was caramelized which wasn't pleasurable.

Really nice food; always cooked to perfection, a really good variety of food to choose from, there is a takeaway and restaurant, the staff are very nice and friendly.

Nice curry but service wasn't the best

Bad quality food with full of artifical food colorants and ready made sauces.. horrible customer experience; Asked for 4 popadoms when and was given six then was charged even for sauces with popadoms without notice... this is a typical bangladeshi resturant trying to say it serves indian food.. if any knows how really indian food tastes like then they would know the low quality food what this restuarant serves. Never will visit again.

Very disappointing with our takeaway tonight, off prawns, chicken tikka methi was too oily and naan tasted of raw garlic, wouldn’t recommend.

We get indian takeaways from various establishments in Shrewsbury but Tandoori cottage is the only one that never ever fails to be great. The Currys have so much flavour and the vegetable dishes are particularly nice. If we have the time to go and collect we will always choose here just a shame they don't deliver.

Always good. We are regulars. We get a table reserved for us every friday and they know our orders. Not not as good as in town but friendly and nice. Take your own drinks

Easily the best traditional Indian restaurant/takeaway in Shrewsbury. It's not exactly upmarket and the choice of dishes would be familiar to a time traveller from the 1970s (as long as s/he used to go to curry restaurants in the days of the 3-day week and cassette tapes) so none of this trendy, hipster, fusion nonsense. Just plenty of traditional dishes prepared to order and with care and passion. We've been going to Tandoori Cottage for years and hope to continue to do so.

Always a great curry, whatever your having. Over the years I've pretty much tried them all, and always look forward to meeting the boss and his fab staff when picking up our food. Great menu ,fab choice along with a comfortable restaurant although I've not used that for a long while. You can also use the coop store next door for your beer etc before going in. Overall a well established curry house and very well run.

Oh, so greasy! The greasiest curry that has ever touched my lips. That includes the naan bread and the snacks that came with the curry. The whole bag was swimming in grease by the time I got home.

The food is great, we have been using them for years but we needed a delivery and so checked online and it states here on TripAdvisor that they deliver. So we rang and they said "sorry we don't deliver"

I had been curry deprived after a couple of months in France - the French do not do curry. This made up for it!

We got a takeaway from here and it was lovely - we had starts and mains and all of it was freshly cooked and lots of flavour! Will definitely be going back!!

Unfortunately the worst Indian we've had in a long time. Chips were hard, no meat in the keema naan, chicken tikka masala didn't taste like chicken tikka masala and onion baji's tasted greasy and were hard. Shame coz thought tandoori cottage was supposed to be a really good Indian.

Gran servicio, con un personal muy servicial. El personal parecía venir de la madera después de pedir, y tuvimos nuestra comida preparada para ir a menos de 10 minutos. Todo estaba delicioso, y llegó con algunos y ensalada de cebolla, popadoms que complementa perfectamente el curry. Es alimentado por dos de nosotros para menores de 12 libras, una ganga. Si estás en cualquier lugar cerca de este lugar, comer en o o quitar, bloody encantador.

Bloody slack. Inside of the bag was plastered with oil, too much oil used in the cooking & foil trays WAY too full of it. More oil = more mess & less food. Food tasted ok but loads to clean up before serving it. Should be better

He estado en el Tandoori Cabaña innumerables veces en los últimos 9 años y nunca he tenido una mala curry una vez o mal servicio. El personal es siempre amable, servicial e informativo. El Sábado no fue la excepción - nuestro curry y lados eran deliciosos y servidos con una agradable sonrisa. Seguiremos volviendo a nuestra casa favorita curry.

Hemos usado el Tandoori Cabaña durante años y nunca hemos sido decepción todavía. La comida es increíble, no grasienta como la mayoría de los restaurantes indios en los que he estado.

Siempre he tenido una buena comida desde aquí, siempre sabrosa y caliente, buen menú. Tienen una pequeña zona de restaurante también puedes comer si prefieres.

Used to be a great restaurant, but seems to have gone downhill, also very cold in winter, it's a shame as they are the only unlicensed restaurant in Shrewsbury

You know what you're getting at the Tandoori Cottage. This is not cutting edge cooking, but you get all the favourites here, delicately spiced, well cooked and in decent sized portions. Particularly good is the chicken aqbari and the fish bhuna imho. Bring your own bottles, and no corkage charged. Friendly atmosphere. We keep going back.

Worst take away ever my wife ordered a korma and put whole thing in the bin she said she had never seen anything like it guess chef had a night off ??quality control management ?? No idea no clue never again had to go else were after paying once already

We regularY use this takeaway, always a great meal, good prices, we have used the restaurant side a few times too.

A large group of us went to this restaurant and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Curries were tasty, service was friendly and welcoming, prices reasonable. Take your own alcohol as they have no licence to serve this, only soft drinks. This isn't a problem as there is a Co-Op in the vicinity. A really enjoyable evening.

We went as a big group of people and it was so well organised. It was fantastic. It's great that you're allowed to take your own alcohol and buy soft drinks when you're there. Food was served very quickly considering how many of us there was!! I'd defiantly return!!!

I used to regularly use this restaurant for takeaway. After nearly 12 months it didn't disappoint.Chicken Balti is the best around and garlic nann is amazing. Great value and freshly cooked.Friendly helpful staff too!

My friend and I went here on the evening of the 28th of May, we had never been before as it's our first time in this are.We had the best chicken biriyani I have ever had and beautifully presented. The sevice was great, the restaurant was clean and everything was very crisp looking. Hope to get back this time next year.

Had takeaway from tandoori cottage. Good standard for a takeaway. A lot better than some of the others round shrewsbury. Not to pricey either. Recommend the chicken achari.

Myself and my three boys had the garlic rice which was ok, and jalfrazze which lacked in spice and the sauce was very thick,my husband had rogan josh which was cold and also lacked in flavour they charged for garlic bread but when my husband got home it wasn't in the bag, so I phoned and the man said he personally put it in but I explained it's not there he did offer that we could come and collect another but by the time we did that the food would get even colder we already had to microwave it.It's such s shame as a year ago I remember it being so much better a shame but want be returning.

A couple of miles out of the town centre but without doubt one of the best restaurants in Shrewsbury - the food is of a very high standard and the staff are always friendly,helpful and professional.The restaurant has a hardcore of Friday Nighters ( myself included ! ) so if you're dining in booking a table is highly recommended - and remember to bring your own alcoholic drinks with you !

This restaurant is very cosy but the food is excellent. From going in to paying the bill the staff could not have been more helpful. Beware this restaurant is not licenced but you can take your own beer and wine for consumption if you so wish. Well worth a visit if you are in Shrewbury.

My takeway vegetable byriani contained two large pieces of chicken! Sadly I think I may have to try elsewhere.

I beg to differ with Ken M on his review of Tandoori Cottage Shrewsbury. In the first place there is NO flat above this restaurant, it has a flat roof. We have been going to this restaurant every week for the last 18 years, I am not exaggerating! The only time we miss is when we are away on holiday. The food is exceptional, as are Rana & his staff, nothing is too much trouble for them. I think Ken M has done them a huge injustice by talking this drivel, he can't have been there too often or he would have noticed it is a flat roofed building. This kind of talk does any business harm, & I sincerely hope it hasn't harmed the business at Tandoori restaurant. I see he is promoting the Shalimar, makes you wonder doesn't it!!! Chris S

We have been going to the Tandoori Cottage for so many years, I can't remember how many, the food and service is amazing. We have many favourite dishes including Murghi Masala, Garlic Chilli Chicken, Chicken Chesnei and Butter Chicken. Keep up the good work Rana and your team we will be visiting for many years to come. Don't forget bring your own wine!!!!!

The carpet looks like it's been brought in from the garden, keeping the weeds at bay!! Reshmi kebab was just a couple of Aldi lamb burgers with an omelette chucked on top, salad was clean though. Tandoori chicken bhuna was full of bones, drinks far too expensive ( £1.20 for water )!! Typical Shrewsbury cuisine if you can call it that, we will not be returning and will continue to travel for a good meal.

Went to the restaurant for the first time with a large group of friends including a number of children. The food and service was excellent. The staff are very friendly and I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is no licensed, but you are able to take your own wine and beer.

Hi everyone, due to a colleagues recommendation my wife and myself visited this establishment last weekend,oh how I wish I had ignored her advice.We arrived around 5.45pm and we were the first to arrive, when we left over an hour later we were still the only people there.The restaurant is in need of some TLC very much so the brown stains on the ceiling due to water leaks from the flat above, who you can hear banging about.The temperature in the the place was very very cold, in fact I was going to ask the waiter to open the door to let some heat in from outside bearing in mind it was snowing.This place is not licensed, so you have to take your own alcohol.The food was pretty much average, however the poppadums arrived with no lime pickle and their was no vindaloo on the menu!The price was no different from any other indian I have reviewed in Shrewsbury, but they did not come anywhere close to the quality of fare I have previous eaten.Conclusion.... I will not be going back there, we have a number of eateries who provide a far superior menu and interior sorroundings than the Tandoori Cottage.
