Wow!!! Delivery was early, still piping hot and put straight onto the plate. Food tasted great, curry was gorgeous, rice cooked to perfection and the naan tasted amazing!!!! 5 star food....

Chicken tikka was not freshly made and chicken tikka masala had horrible flavor.

Faultless. Asked for Vindaloo extra hot just as I like it. They didn’t disappoint. Everything else was excellent. Free delivery and 10% off also makes them competitive at the higher end. Worth every penny

The bags were leaking everywhere and there was so much oil in the food

Missing items on a delivery. Disappointed. One colleague passing the phone to another caused confusion with an order which resulted in items not being placed on an order. No boiled egg in garlic chili achari apna style either … how difficult can it really be.

Booked anniversary meal (29ssp) with Husband as good Reviews ,but defo not this one!! They had a birthday party of 30 x18 year old lads having fun, VERY boisterous and MEGA loud!!!! i was the only female and felt really uncomfortable!! We complained only to be told that everyone had booked , not just us!! Food was not award winning as advertised, we have been to much better in shrewsbury, poor show.

Booked online stating this was for our wedding anniversary only to walk in and hear 30x 18 year old lads having fun for a birthday celebration!! and us lol, i felt very uncomfortable to say say the least!! Awful! AVOID! This is a 100 seater restaurant that prioritizes its take away orders over paying restaurant guests, possibly one of the worst experiences of indian restaurants ever. Service was beyond slow, ordered popudoms they never came , asked for water it never came food was OK when it finally arrived but what a disappointment! When I spoke I manager about my Awful experience he simply said they prioritize take away orders!! Awful service dont bother go somewhere that cares!!!

Don’t fall for the reviews. Service was slow, although there was barely anyone in the restaurant. The gravy was cooked with sugar syrup despite asking for it to be spicy. Overall nothing like authentic Indian food, the menu didn’t have a single paneer dish, although it’s available off-menu. Poor dining experience.

This was our first visit and it most certainly will not be our last! Having read other reviews, I agree that the menu does need updating but that is the only thing I do agree with. The food was delicious and the staff were polite, friendly and efficient. The only downside was that it was very noisy, which was because there were two very happy groups celebrating birthdays. I would most definitely recommend that you visit Cafe Saffron in the not too distant future.

I called to say the first order arrived very late and was cold, packed it back up to wait for a replacement order, which arrived at approximately 6.45, second order wasn’t much better to be honest first time ordering from here and the last

Food is always excellent today I paid for yoghurt dips which weren’t in my order and it was 45 mins late.

Dined with family on Saturday evening. Very dated menu in appearance and choices. All the food we ordered was tasty and delivered hot. Drinks and sides were expensive. The waiters were however rude and abrupt and certainly did not enhance our experience. We will not be returning.

Food arrived 30 mins after the latest estimate. When I called the restaurant for an update, they practically left me on hold for around 3 mins. When the food arrived it was lukewarm at best. It’s disappointing as they are usually excellent but this order was poor.

The food wasn’t great, which was disappointing, with it being late as well. We have had some great takeaways from cafe saffron, but tonight was not one of them.

On arrival the restaurant was quiet, almost empty and lacked any atmosphere. There was music playing but very very quietly. I was shown to a table and then ignored. I was not offered drinks. I waited 10 minutes before ordering f drinks despite the restaurant having just 1vother small group. The menu is something from around 1985. If you like chicken you're okay. If you are vegan stay away! The allergy signposting was dreadful and if my partner (milk intolerant) was with me we'd have left. The staff seemed in a hurry to take our order. I suppose you could call it efficient. Poppadoms arrived without lime pickle, which I had to ask for separately. The meal was good. Hence 3/5 not 2/5. Vegetable balti and naan was very nice. However it was vegetarian not vegan so I won't be going back. The beer was £5.50 a pint. The bill for 2 of us came to £74. The host put in an appearance to "shout" at us in what I guess he thinks is a warm and entertaining way. If he shouted less and listened more it might be better. He gave us 2 seconds of his time before shouting at the other group. Won't be going back.

I'm going to preface this review by saying I eat out a lot, my standards are high - I am simply too fat to eat average food. I had high expectations of Saffron Cafe, after all if the infamous curry munching fatty Eric Pickles has eaten here... Unfortunately the service was average, the food was average. It just didn't wow me. Although credit where credit is due, Chablis albeit an average bottle was on the menu. Not many places stock reasonable wine now a days. The highlights were the nan breads and tarkha dhall. The prawns were fresh. And none of it was 'bad' just average. Coming from near Walsall I have been blessed with some of the best curries. So I know what good curry is all about. The poppadoms whilst cooked today were not warm and fresh fresh. They were likely cooked several hours before or maybe even the night before. Rice was again average, lacking vibrancy. The two main meals whilst vastly different on the menu shared a common base sauce. Never a good sign. Whilst I would not be in a rush to visit again I shall certainly give them the benefit of the doubt and try another dish. As for price it is at the upper end of curry pricing. I have paid more and had better curry and I have paid less and had better curry. Perhaps it was an off day for then, or perhaps they are living off a past reputation. I don't know but I cannot and will not say it was bad and nor can I likewise say it was fantastic. It was just simply average. And I'm too fat to eat average food.

Always order from here but food was really disappointing. The curry was a different colour and different consistency to usual. Just lacked flavour.

Visited last night with a couple of friends. Decided to eat here as previous visit was excellent. However, after ordering a tandoori mixed grill, the chicken was raw. Sent it back to the kitchen and arrived back a short time later properly cooked, which was very tasty in the end. When the bill arrived there was no mention or reflection of this extremely dangerous error at all. I asked to speak to someone about the bill, was ignored for 10-15 mins until a 20% discount on the total was finally negotiated. I understand that sometimes mistakes are made, we are all human and fortunately I made the discovery before eating it. However, to just ignore the error, the customer and hope that they pay the full amount without an apology is very poor customer service and offensive.

Ordered a takeaway delivery, restaurant insisted it was collection, which we did. Very rude on collection and tried to charge an extra £1.50 for a sprinkling of spinach, which I refused to pay as we have have used this place many many times as a meal out and takeaways since 2007, spending a lot of money over the years! Got the food home, slimy, sloppy Naan breads and stale poppadums. The lamb in the Naga was tough and the Capsilla Murgh had uncooked veg! The “King Prawn” balti was a joke, 4 small prawns in a sauce far too hot and spicy for a Balti. Mushroom rice was ok but the Award Winning rice was nowhere near as nice as usual. Overpriced and very disappointing for what used to be the best place to go for a curry in Shrewsbury 😢 Cafe Saffron you need to sort your menu, prices, quality of food and staff interaction with customers as you will rapidly lose valued custom. So sorry to write this, but the takeaway experience was awful and spoilt our family’s evening.

Always amazing from here. Have tried others with friends but this place is by far the best in Shrewsbury in my opinion. Thank you for never disappointing us.

Just eat said order delivered so I called and was told there had been a mistake and food is ready and waiting for driver to collect. The man on the phone didn’t ask my name, address or any details. I ask how long it would be and was just told soon. About 2 mins later food arrived so we were clearly given wrong information. Food nice but no onions or mint sauce given with compliments like every other Indian restaurant we’ve ever ordered from.

THE MOTHER THERESA LAMB STARTER WAS EXPENSIVE BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FOR TWO PEOPLE. IT WAS SMALL AND UNDERWHELMING (For one) very disappointed with this. Madras not the best , Korma and rice quite nice. Naan nothing special and small. I paid £40.40 I feel this was far to expensive for a very substandard meal, I have eaten in the restaurant and food was good then, feel like asking for refund. I hope this review will go to Cafe Saffron because it will prevent me from using again otherwise or recommending to others.

Slightly strange layout, the resturant is on the top floor, the decor is a little sparse. I have to say the starter I had(chicken chaat on puri) was absolutely fantastic, packed with flavour, it really had my taste buds dancing. After that I could not wait for my main. However I was left slightly disappointed by the lamb balti, the meat was quite fatty and the sauce was unfortunately a little bland which is sad after such an amazing starter.

My very dear friend and I dined @ your curry house of late, reason for 4 stars was because we had to wait a little longer but more probably the fact it was a busy evening. The curry I had was perfect, perhaps could of been hotter, however my friend found eating his Chicken Tikka Massala to sweet.

2 excellent meals the king prawn Madras the flavour was superb flavour rather than being to curry hot

Ordered at 6.10 to arrive for 7.30 (chosen time to arrive). Didn’t arrive until 8.10

Naan bread was burnt and Rock solid. Rice seemed watery. Very disappointed, usually the absolute best takeaway in town

A friend received a recommendation for this restaurant so we gave it a go while we were visiting Shrewsbury. It was a Tuesday so it wasn't busy. A menu with plenty of new things to explore and award winning dishes. Great service and reasonably priced. Deffo worth a visit.

Ordered a takeaway this evening, unfortunately there was a piece of sharp plastic in the meal, it could have easily cut someone’s gum. The restaurant denied all responsibility and would not refund the portion of the order that was affected. Terrible customer service, avoid!!!

Helpful and attentive waiters. Showed me all the dishes they could make vegan and which dishes were already vegan. Great service and food was excellent! Good pricing. We had already been there 8 years ago and it has always been a high quality restaurant.

Went out for a few drinks with my best friend thought we’d end on a nice curry. We had poppadoms, a chicken biryini, chicken tikka buns, and a nann bread with two vodka lime and sodas. They took advantage of us as we’d had a few drinks the bill came to £66.60. We will definitely Berber set foot in that place again. We have also heard that this is a regular thing they do if they think they can get away with it! Disgusting behaviour!

Excellent food, the naga chicken is really lovely, but only for people who can eat hot food. Great delivery, exactly on time!

Chicken on the bone was pretty good but the other bits dried out. Kofte ok. But the Sheesh(?) was kind of nasty. Tried the Slovenian award-winning rice... um... not sure what the fuss was about. Naans were fine. Wife enjoyed her Bhuna. Delivery time was about an hour and it was accurate. Didn't order poppadoms (forgot) so why include the tubs? And oily, so much spilled oil!

we thought we would give this a go... the menu is so outdated it needs a refresher.... they dont really do kids menu so that was a worry. had podadoms n sauces... (9.00 for them btw!!!!) shocking price.. didnt have any starters coz ther wasnt much to choose from.. then we waited nearly 40 mins for food and wasnt many people waiting for theres!!! finally got it and they gave our son who is 8 some spicy sauce instead of tomato ketchup because he didnt know what that was!! ourt meals were ok but not outstanding.but at nearly 15 pound for a masala u would think it wud taste and look better.. over all we wont be coming back.

I have always had great food from cafe saffron but my tandoori mixed grill tonight was poor quality and such a small portion for quite an expensive option . It came with one slice of cucumber , about an eighth of a Tomato and the equivalent of one lettuce leaf chopped up . The tandoori chicken was so dry and looked like it had been cooked twice, it just didn’t taste fresh so I left it and it also had so little meat on it . The lamb sagwala was good but overall really disappointing compared to the usual standard. Will go elsewhere for delivery from hereon .

Food was pretty bland, no poppadoms. Korma had separated very off putting. Lukewarm when delivered.

This really is a fabulous Asian restaurant . Traditional Bangladeshi food cooked to your preference using the best of ingredients . The staff are friendly and welcoming and always willing to advise on the dishes and to meet your preferences for a favourite dish or ingredient . Whilst there they expertly offered genuine vegan alternatives to a customer explaining how the chief ensured the good would be cooked to ensure it was truly vegan . We had two prawn dishes and the prawns were enormous . The portion sizes are generous you will not leave hungry . Genuine freshly ground spices are used and you can tell the difference ! We enjoy our weekly curry and have not found better service or food anyone else . Great food , great service and good value for money !
