Tandoori Cottage in Waltham Forest

Ordered a takeaway of 3 chicken tikka dishes. I would be very surprised if there was one chicken breast in total across all 3! Also the Balti dish was very greasy. Not many people in the restaurant……I’m not surprised. I would not recommend & definitely will not be going back…..

I have been coming here since I was a kid with my dad and have never had a bad meal and the staff are amazing! I ordered from here last night and the food was superb!! I am now currently planning an evening here with some friends and can’t wait to be back. 11/10 👌🏻

Tandoori Cottage exceeded my expectations! The staff was friendly, and the Tikka Biryani was a flavor-packed delight. The Mixed Grill was also particularly enjoyable. Highly recommend for a satisfying dining experience!

Really delicious food! 😋 I’ve been coming here regularly for the past couple of years with my girlfriend. We really enjoy the excellent food. Service is also great - Abu and his staff are always very friendly and attentive. I particularly like the Fish dishes !

Great curry as always. Also the staffs are friendly and welcoming. They also kindly explain different types of curries and make suggestions depending on our tastes. We always have excellent dining experience in the restaurant and I highly recommend.

First time buyer with this restaurant. Very nice customer service when called to order My order: Mixed Platter-really nice Pilau rice: painted rice?! No flavour?! Butter chicken, Chicken Tikka masala, coconut rice, all these dishes HORRIBLY SWEET, literally sugar everywhere. Called back to give feedback and I have been advised that the dishes are meant to be a little sweet? Have you had any of those dishes before anywhere else and are sweet? Are any of the recipes tell you to put sugar? Sad occurrence, first time and last time buyer for me.

As I am writing this review I must say how dissatisfied and disappointed I am trying this Indian dishes.I have ordered a take away on a Sunday evening that consisted of Butter Chicken and a portion of Pilau Rice. It is unbelievable sweet, please believe me this dish would have been ok as a dessert but not as a main dish. Called the restaurant back immediately to tell them and the o ly answer I got was “this is the way we do it” …. Very very disappointing.

Have missed this place so much!! Cannot recommend highly enough. Tandoori Cottage is, by far, the best Indian Restaurant around 🥰🥰

Pedí comida para llevar hace dos semanas. Abrió un recipiente y luchó por identificar su contenido. ¡El objeto duro y negro que se asemeja a una pequeña rama de árbol resultó ser un pez! Tuve que usar bastante fuerza para abrirlo y descubrir que en realidad era bacalao, pero no como lo había visto nunca. Era gris, duro, seco y totalmente incomible. El resto de la comida es pastosa, seca, bastante insípida y muy mal cocida. Pérdida de 30 y enormemente decepcionante para mi amiga especialmente, ya que esta era la primera comida que no había cocinado ella misma desde el cierre.

Sieht von aussen nicht sehr einladend aus, aber man sollte sich trauen rein zu gehen. Innen ist es sehr nett eingerichtet. Zum Zeitpunkt dieses Postings wurde auch Buffet angeboten. Sehr leckere indische Küche. Beim Buffet sind mehrere verschiedene Speisen in warmhalte Behältern vorrätig und werden auch prompt wieder aufgefüllt. Ich würde hier wieder hingehen. 4 Personen haben inkl. Cola und Buffet ca. 52 Pfund bezahlt, was für die qualitativ hochwertigen Speisen ein sehr günstiger Preis ist.

Now this curry house is under new management it's back to its superb excellent food. Abul the owner is brilliant faultless nothing to much trouble. Best curry house ever definitely recommend and will visit often It's a 5+ star rating from us.

Esta es nuestra cuarta visita en poco más de un mes, viajamos desde Loughton perdiendo todos los otros restaurantes de curry, solo para llegar a Tandoori Cottage. La comida y el servicio siempre ha sido excelente.El nuevo propietario, muy agradable, se hizo cargo del restaurante en septiembre del año 2018.El restaurante es acogedor y cómodo, de la vieja escuela, con mesas de asientos a la derecha, mesas regulares a la izquierda, manteles y servilletas blancos.Un menú de buen tamaño con los antiguos favoritos junto con especialidades.No hemos probado los entrantes todavía, solo los sabrosos papadoms crujientes junto con la bandeja de chutney. Siempre tengo el rey langostino balti, los sabores son increíbles! esto viene con pan naan caliente esponjoso. Mi esposo tiene el King Prawn Sizzler, que sale chisporroteando! Los aromas, sabores despiertan tus papilas gustativas, tan deliciosas. Compartimos los lados del hongo Bhaji, la coliflor Bhaji, el chapati, el arroz Pilau, que se cocinan perfectamente. Me atrevería a decir que el "Chef es un" maestro de las especias ", ¡el Chef sabe exactamente cuándo agregar las especias, mezclar y mezclar, lo que hace que esta comida sea tan deliciosa!Te dan un pequeño regalo después de tu comida, no te lo diré, reserva y prueba tú mismo. .También los precios de los alimentos y bebidas son razonables.

Hay muchos restaurantes indios en Chingford, pero esto es muy bueno y he sido cliente durante 20 años, ¡así que sé de lo que estoy hablando! No está tan ocupado por dentro como solía ser, ya que parece que mucha gente lo usa como comida para llevar, pero como aquí una vez al mes, nunca me han decepcionado y te describirán gustosamente los platos si estás No estoy seguro de lo que te apetece.

Wow Garlic chilli chicken, Garlic and mushroom fried rice with garlic nann.Garlic overload and well worth it, I love a good curry and this is up there with the best I've had. Working in Chingford for another 4 nights and will most definitely be back. We did play musical chairs/ tables tho when we first got here, bench seat are ok if you want to be sat bolt upright! But that aside absolutely beautiful food Love it.

This is a very well run restaurant. Great food and service. Good hygiene rating clean and tidy. New very pleasant owner, same chef and staff. Cosy with comfortable booths on the right as you go in, rows of tables on the left . White Table linen and napkins. Complmenty liquor and chocolate with hot hand wipes. We were lucky to get a parking space just outside the busy high street .

Lovely food, I had tandoori chicken, tarka dall veg rice & bajee's, excellent, a very cosy local restaurant, it really needs checking out.

Food delivered 30 mins late and cold. Rude delivery driver. Rude staff on phone, was passed between several people constantly none of which listened. Not worth ruining a night in for.

Really sub par: cold rice, paneer shashlik with no peppers, onions or tomatoes, tarka dhal the consistency of water and with about as much flavour. Slowest delivery ever: 1 hr 20 mins. Won’t be back.

Received message that food was enroute @ 9.10...still waiting @9.40 called restaurant and they seemed confused,didn’t know what happened to my order. After a lot of blubbering apparently my order had been left at the reception 😑 They apologised and I was offered a free bottle of drink (not helpful) After protesting that it wasn’t acceptable service, was offered a free vegetable dish and for them to make a fresh order (I explained I wasn’t happy to have the same order as it had been left standing for nearly an hour). Finally received my food @10.30! Very shocked 😮 I always only order from this restaurant and have never had this problem before. They explained that they were busy and admittedly it was a Friday night but prioritising customers in the restaurant and totally forgetting about delivery customers orders is NOT good practice. 👎🏾

Absolutely shocking none of them speak a word of English and even though they were 2 minutes away they kept on putting us off until they were closed and refused money back !! Will be makin a complaint to just eat and taking it further

Re-visitamos un viejo fiel indio que en el área, pero quedé muy decepcionado. El pollo estaba tan seca y dura, las samosas eran literalmente nadando en grasa y la comida estaba tibia en el mejor cuando llegó. Sagaloo era tan encantador como siempre, pero nosotros no vamos a volver de nuevo. Puede sentir la comida ya repitiendo en nosotros.

Very rare that I leave such a good review however this is the best curry house I have ordered from in a long time. Full of flavour(which many local Indians lack at the moment), generous portions and it arrived on time and piping hot. I also included some special instructions in my order and these were adhered to. I would have given 5* but they don’t give free popadom/dips as a lot do. none the less I will be ordering again soon! thank you

Food was cold when arrived. Future orders have been hot. I asked for sample curry I have not tried. I did not get this. I feel if customers not sampled a different curry if they ask try the restaurant will not have more orders.

No han sido aquí desde que era local, pero mi hijo nos llevaron por el Día de la madre. No sé si estaban cortos de personal, pero nos parecía que esperar aunque el personal era muy amable. Normalmente no tienen postres y no de nuevo. Los helados sundaes fueron obviamente por adelantado y luego congelada en el cristal, fruta y Ferrero rocher.No es una buena idea, pero no sé si este es el tipo de cosa hecha hoy en día. Bien, no tener que de nuevo.

Food was very bland. Rice was soggy, samosa was so greasy it slid around the plate and everything else was just bland. Would definately not use again.

Meal was cold and 1 hour late after phoning and being told it was on its way. We were only given 1 popadom for a meal for 3 people. Very disappointed will not order from there again.

Food was possibly the worst I've ever had, the dansak was cold,watery and tasteless and the chicken quality in both meals was terrible, will never order from this place again and will advise anyone i know or reads this review to avoid here and try somewhere else

Simply very tasty could eat it all again

First time using Tandoori Cottage. Delivery was dot on 1 hour which I think is too long when I live 0.2 miles away. All food was luke warm. Naan tasted ok, popadoms also fine but comes with just a tiny pot of raita and tiny pot of chopped onion. Bombay aloo was so bland, just tasted like tinned potatoes. Onion bahji was pretty much 3 pounds for 2 flat bahjis that were almost same texture as cake. Definitely won't be using it again, really poor.

Will definitely be ordering more food in the future.

Esperamos 30 minutos para pedir bebidas e incluso nos preguntaron si queríamos popodoms antes de la mano. . . qué restaurante pide entrantes antes de las bebidas. . . 40 minutos más tarde, después de preguntar 3 veces, podemos pedir y ellos nos dicen que esperemos que nos vayamos. . .¡Volveremos pero con suerte contratan a más personal!

Great little curry house... Or should I say cottage? Delivered just under an hour on a weekday, which was sooner than the expected delivery time. Ample portions, with great flavour and spicy enough but not too spicy.

Staple pin in salad but staff wouldn't admit it, neither apologise. We ended up leaving the restaurant just after they brought the salad with all the food untouched. Staff still expecting us to pay for the food where as luckily we didn't touch anything after seeing the staple on salad.

Avoid at all costs. Rude, unhelpful and took the money before refusing to deliver. Then refund promised but will take days. Wretched mess of a place with no concept of customer service.

This lot are dodgy. Money taken aned no food delivered. Buyer beware

I have been going to Tandoori Cottage for many years now and they never fail! Food and service has always been top notch. Thank you.

Food was good, when it eventually arrived, from order time it took 1hour 20 minutes! This was a problem, as I'm Diabetic and had to have a snack while waiting, spoiling my enjoy when it did arrive. As I said, food was nice, but didn't come with any of the extra freebies, that come with every other Indian I've ordered ( Onion salad, Raita and poppadom) because of this I wouldn't order again.

The little extras would have given a top score. Papadam/Onion and dressing was missing!!!

The man serving us was very nice and food great. Be careful though this place doesn't hold back on spice, the vindaloo nearly took my head off. Well priced as well.

Driver didn't want to give me my change after I had already added a 80p tip he then wanted to keep another £2 as he said he didn't have £5 change to give or any £5 notes the food was ok but chicken curry was dry

Tandoori cottage was always one of the most reasonably priced Indian takeaways. However they have recently increased their prices and appear to stopped providing complimentary poppadoms and beers. A bit of a shame as little things like this put them ahead of their competitors. Won't stop me going back though as the food is always good.
