Forest Tandoori in Waltham Forest

We had a wonderful curry , the food was delicious flavoursome and fresh . The waiter was extremely attentive and endeavoured to match our taste preferences to each dish. The restaurant has no license so we just collected wine and beer across the road at the brewery also lovely . The staff are charming , also very child friendly and the whole evening was a lovely experience .

We enjoyed a very family friendly meal in the early evening. We will definitely eat here again when we are back in Walthamstow. Great service - Ronni was a helpful and polite waiter. Service with a smile. The food was tasty and great portion size. We boxed up the food we couldn’t eat and enjoyed it at home again!

The waiter Ronnie was very friendly and showed me to the table I ordered chicken Tikka Masala with Mushroom rice. It was served very quickly and tasted very lovely. I was visiting as I moved from the area 10 years ago and pleased to say it still has the same high standards

Left review on just eat, the following day they left a note hanging out of my door when I was a work all day to ask me to call them. You allowed anyone passing to think I was out all day, really annoyed me, so now give a one star. If you want to make customers happy then give them I good meal. We pay enough for it.

I came here with my family Saturday evening for dinner. We had a friendly reception and were seated at a nice table. We had poppadoms to start, which were lovely. We had prawn dishes and a mixed Biriani and chicken dansak with rice and naan bread. The food was very good indeed. A big bonus is that you can bring your own wine with just £1.50 each corkage so that’s an excellent feature of the restaurant. I live locally so I think I am very lucky to have such a good restaurant close by and I would encourage locals to support the business as much as possible. Thank you very much for a lovely evening, Forest Tandoori. We will be back no doubt.

This is a friendly place with great food! Nice atmosphere, staff very friendly, we had a nice dinner with a group of friends.

We stopped going to the Forest Tandoori as we found other places were offering better food and service, we gave the FT a go last night and we will be back, the food and service has improved a lot. This is an excellent Indian restaurant. Indian is our favorite cuisine and this restaurant was highly recommended by a local. We were not disappointed. The new young owner - Khan, is impressive and enthusiastic about his restaurant. He has modernized the interior which is clean, uncluttered and welcoming. The food was equally impressive and delicious. He said they only use the best quality ingredients which is why their prices are slightly higher than others. I can attest that the chicken breast meat was fresh and juicy and the vegetables and spices perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. I had the chicken jalfrezi and my companions had the chicken tikka masala and garlic chili chicken which Khan had recommended. The daal and the garlic naan were to die for. Khan insisted on cooking us his specialty vegetable samosa as a parting gift which we took out with us along with the leftovers of the very generous portions. My only regret is that this restaurant is several 1000 miles from where I live. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Delivery half hour late. When I rang to find out where it was, it transpires driver hadn't even left until 15mins after delivery time. No apology or acknowledgment from driver. And just some poppadoms as complimentary on a 30mon late, £30 order. Food is nice though so we will order again, but service is terrible.

3rd time and food still fab - never had a disappointing dish and everything is fresh, tasty and never floating in grease - best curry I've found in E17!

First time ordering from here, just received the takeaway. I have to say I am very disappointed, did the meal for 2 Deal which looked amazing. Unfortunately it wasn't, small portions or little tandoori meat. All the dishes I ordered which was 7 (as per the deal) not 1 was tasty. All dishes were watery and/or tasteless.... I won't be ordering again :-(

I ordered it for 9pm as that was when my flatmate would be home, but the food arrived at 8.20 long before he got back.. There was no onion bhaji. My flatmate is vegetarian and this was meant to be his starter.

Food is always delicious but they need to use less oil as my jalfrezi had a layer of oil.

Food was delivered early! Both chicken and lamb we very well coocked. Tasty, succulent and not at all tough. The food in general has a more hoe cooked feel which makes a refreshing change.

Food wasn't nice at all, lamb was as tough as old boots and dry. There was hardly any chicken in the masala and the paneer was not cooked. Delivery was 30 minutes late and when I phoned 5 minutes after estimated delivery time I was told he had left 5 minutes ago, well it's a 7 minute drive and only a 33 minute walk away so don't know where the driver went my - Timbuktu maybe? Food was only warm when we received it. Won't be ordering again

Nos servían un menú elegido de cordero al curry, pollo al curry, verduras mixtas, daal, patatas bombay y una de gambas y espinacas al curry. La comida era excepcional y un servicio excelente. Comí allí hace un par de años y he de decir que las normas han mejorado mucho. Sin duda merece la pena una visita!

Great value for the portion size and freshly prepared, high quality food. Significantly better than most alternatives for the area. It is definitely worth checking out the restaurant in person, as food sizzling straight out the kitchen can't be beaten, and the service is caring without fuss. Great place and feel lucky to have them.

Saag paneer was a korma sauce with a few pieces of spinach floating in it! Meat quality was poor. Disappointing meal.

Forest Tandoori is a good option for Indian food in Walthamstow. Friendly and careful service, a very good choice of fish, seafood and meat with a combination of the more popular Indian dishes (kormas, tandoori, biryani) and delicious Bengali specialties (fish mostly).

Amazing food! Loved everything, and delivery was quick. Ordered all vegetarian food and was happy with every single dish. One thing I thought was that the veggie jalfrezi was more Chinese style, but still delicious. Will order again very soon!

The food was lovely can not fault it but the thing that annoys me is i was asked what time i wanted it delivered and it came half hour earlier so i dont see the point in being able to pick a time if its just going to be ignored! Also a random dish arrived with my order i had no idea what it was i didnt order it and there was no writing on top of the box so i didnt eat it and the last thing is i got two complementary mint sauces instead of 1 mint and 1 mango chutney so that was disappointing but overall as i said food cant be faulted. Oh and before i forget i left specific instructions for the driver to only buzz my buzzer once which was ignored

Amount of lamb in the Lamb Shashlick was pretty minimal, and one of the dishes was spilt in the bag. But this is a consistently good takeaway restaurant.

This used to be an excellent restaurant with really nice food and good value for money. Food is still ok but not up to the previous standard consequently value not so good. Also staff were all very young and needed more training.

Whenever I get the chance to visit our friends in Walthamstow I make a beeline for the local indian restaurant in the area. Extensive menu and good service. You will not be disappointed.

Have always liked the food from Forest Tandoori, my favourite eat in Indian in the Stow and the standard of the takeaway is the same. Often not the quickest delivery, but so long as you're not in a hurry, it's worth the wait.

We often visit in forest tandoori for a meal but also for delivery.The food is always good. The staff are very friendly and caring too. The main waiter SABU is tremendous and always welcoming and take extra care of us. I highly recommend this restaurant and will happily return.

My young son (5) was trying to be friendly to the waiter and was met with a sullen, aggressive resistance. When our drinks were brought, which was very quick, the waiter had brought what my son had asked for, but not what my wife had stated instead (overruling the 5 year old). This would not have been a problem, a simple misunderstanding (actually just hadn't bothered to listen, I'm being kind)' but the waiter aggressively put the drink back down in front of my 5 year old son and told him" that's what you ordered". Game over. There are plenty of restaurants who will be nice to my family and I without me paying for one who can't be bothered to. See you in a year if you are still in business.

First of all I'd like to say that the food here was really good. I had the chicken samosas to start and the chicken jalfreizi as a main. Both really delicious. What let the whole night down was the service of our waiter and neither me or my friends will be going back because of that.From the moment that we sat down, we were met with a really bad attitude from our waiter. He had the most sour facial expression on all night and waited on us in a way that told us he hated his job and wanted us to leave as soon as possible.He was extremely monotonous and blunt when speaking to us and really rude. Upon asking him for the wifi password he said that he would go and get it for us in a bit. There was a small bar in view of everyone where the waiters stayed until needed. So we saw him go back there and pretend to be getting it. After a while he probably thought we had forgotten and just left it. He was standing around waiting to do something so I asked him once again and he looked irritated that I had asked again. He eventually wrote down what looked like a wifi password. After several attempts of inputting the password, it would not work. Fed up, we asked the other waiter who was amazing by the way. Very sweet. He got us the right password and we realised the previous waiter had capitalised an obvious lower case d in the password. This was done on purpose because the password on the sticker was computer printed and clear. There is no way a small d could look like a capital D.When the starters came out my friend asked him to hold her main course because the started was quite large. He told her that it was already made. So after we finished the starters we were quite hungry so we were happy to know that the mains had been made already, from what the waiter said. However, The wait for the main course was a very long one considering they had 'already been made'. We deduced that he had lied about it so that we would pay for another dish. The cheek.Anyway as the night went on he got more and more irritated. Mainly because we were not playing his game. We saw right through him. So he asked his colleague (the nice waiter) to serve us instead. That was more than fine from our point of view.So it went well until we asked for the bill. I presented my tastecard which was in the form of an app. He immediately showed us the policiy: that we had to order desert for the 2 for 1 offer to be accepted. So we decided to do that. He thought we wouldn't be able to use the offer and that we would pay for the full amount but when we asked for the dessert menu he was shocked and visibly angry. He came to me to look at my tastecard and now said that I had to have the physical card as opposed to the app version. This was a lie and he knew it so he went to speak to his manager for what felt like 20 minutes. God knows what they were discussing. Eventually they let us have it. Begrudgingly. We chose our desserts and this man packed them in a takeaway bag which we didn't ask for, obviously wanting us to leave as soon as possible. So we ate them right there at the table. After this we paid and the waiter came back to tell us we were 2p short! So we had to pay it. We left never to return again.

I've been a patron of this fabulous restaurant for many years and the quality and service remains superb. The restaurant is big enough for large groups & parties yet intimate enough for solo or intimate dining . It has a well stocked bar and staff who are friendly and attentive yet they don't hover over guests unnecessarily, which is appreciated.Tonight I tried some new dishes I'd not tried before - haash pineapple (duck curry in a creamy coconut milk with pineapple & cherry tomato) and lamb passanda nawabi (lamb curry) - both were exceptional and added to my favourites. I can also say that the quality of their takeaway is equally as good as eating in, though with the service and style of the restaurant I'd always opt to eat in as it's a lovely experience. A really lovely quality restaurant that deserves a visit . . . once you do you'll be back for sure as everyone always returns.

Have ordered from this place a number of times and every order is missing which I have paid good money for. Late delivery and blames just eat for any missed food items or entire orders

I've had nice meals with a good service on a couple of visits to this traditional tandoori food place several years ago so was very disappointed at the decline in service on this 3rd visit. It was a Saturday night with only about 4 tables with diners out of a total of around 15. We received poppadoms and wine very promptly but then waited over 40 minutes for our starter. We received tap water about 20 minutes after initially asking for it (and having to chase it up) then waited about an hour from finishing our starter to receiving our main course. We chased up the main twice. Throughout this, diners at all the other tables were also complaining about both the slow service and lack of sincerity or apology for it. One waiter told me the kitchen had 5 staff in it, another waiter said they had 4. During this wait, takeaway/home delivered orders were being taken out of the restaurant suggesting priority was being given to outside orders.After haggling I was offered a paltry 10% discount off the bill, despite suggesting it should be 20% or our wine given free.I want to support local restaurants, but after such a

The king prawn masala curry was lovely! Delivery took a little long I ordered at 8 and it took a whole hour to arrive. The onion bajis tasted like they had been cooked a week ago, they were so dry and over cooked probably the worst I've ever had. The naan bread was tiny I was happy I ordered extra rice otherwise no one would of been full! Overall I was disappointed!

You could probably walk into any of several thousand Indian restaurants across the UK and have exactly the same meal,Sometimes that can be a good thing-the bad thing here was the hour long wait between the starter and the main course, even though the place was relatively quiet.I assume that they are more geared up for takeaways as we order from this place all the time and they're usually very prompt.

First time at this Indian on Saturday night. We booked a table for 8.30 but there was no need as the restaurant was nearly empty. We felt rushed as the waiter came several times for our order even though we were clearly still reading the menu. Coke was warm and didn't come with ice. Onion bhaji starter was luke warm and tasteless, main meal not much better and naan breads dry and hard. Was put off by friends or relations of restaurant staff hanging around and going in and and out frequently. We wouldn't return to this restaurant.

A friendly local indian restaurant in E17 offering a wide choice of tasty, well presented food. The restaurant is clean, well lit, modern and there is a small bar. A takeaway service is also available for those who prefer to eat at home. I recently organized a birthday gathering for 14 people here and no request was too big or small. We were able to access the restaurant beforehand to drop off cakes and decorate tables. Definitely worth a visit.

The food was fine but it was the single worst service i've ever had. 2 1/2 hours from order to arrival. Ordered at 8pm. Set Del. 9pm. Called at 9.30 and the person i spoke to told me it was on the way. This turned out to be a lie, as when i called again at 10pm it still hadn't left. Food arrived at 10.30pm. I would never go back and I would recommend to others that they don't either.

Due to glitch in the ordering system for a set meal we only got half our order 1 hour after ordering. They did send on the rest when I called them but by this time the rest of the food was cold.

All the food we ordered was delicious. And the platter meal deals where you can make all your own choices of what to include are very good value for money (so much better than the usual set menu options you often get that never exactly include what you'd choose). We'll definitely be ordering from Forest Tandoori again. Yum!
