Whether you want to eat in or take away, the food here never fails to deliver. Good value too with decent portions. Book if you want to eat in as it isn't a large restaurant which is part of its charm.

Not been here for 3 years after getting served up as the best I can described as dish water. Well what can I say! Probably the worst Indian food I’ve ever eaten.I ordered a lamb pathia.should be hot, sweet and sour. All the chef done was dish up a madras curry (that they probably have a bucket full) and added a Chinese sweet and sour jar mix from the local shop. Asked to speak to the manager but all of a sudden they couldn’t speak English.Wife had prawn sagg with frozen prawns. I really am being generous with the 3 stars here, The wine was decent Never again

We enjoyed a very nice meal here this week. Plenty of free parking in the village carpark a short walk away, a pleasant welcome and really nice fresh tasting food, just what we wanted.

Excellent food and so easy to order on the web, very friendly staff and easy parking either on site or across the road in the large carpark. There were only two people in the restaurant when I collected but it was reasonably early so hopefully they got busier.

Popped in here early evening, midweek. Put simply, just great food, friendly service.

The only curry house in Sonning Common. Catered well for our large group. Kept our beer flowing all evening. The food was delicious with well balanced spices and chilli - I had the Jalfrezi not overly hot. Gave us plenty of poppadoms, the only negative would be the mango chutney was a bit watery but everything else was very tasty.

We hadn't eaten here for a long time and had heard reports that it wasn't as good as it used to be. This was not what we experienced when we visited early on a Saturday evening. It was very busy. The food was excellent, staff friendly and there was a great atmosphere. We'll be back!

Chicken madras is the best I've had for a long time.doesn't come to hot just right.very reasonable price as a couple we normally spend about £50 to £60 .try to go twice a month

Since the demise of the Raj in Emmer Green, we have eaten here regularly and it is always top notch. Friendly service, and consistent quality each time.

Chicken tikka massala was very watery and lacks any flavour. Tasted better from tesco value ready meals

Went here with 5 friends and had one of the best meals we have had as a group. Great food, great service and reasonably priced. The food was all served hot and the portions were very good. I would definitely Rey this restaurant if you like Indian food, a real good find and we will be back.

First time we’ve tried this place. Very friendly welcome and service throughout. Beers and popps served promptly. 4 different main courses, all good, Pathia was excellent. Top notch hot, both flaky and soft bit naans. And vegetable side dishes were also well prepared. Will be returning when next in the area.

Lovely curry, good sized portions and great flavours.

We're in the area with work. We ordered to take away. We chose a selection of vegetable & lentil dishes and rice, which all were absolutely delicious. The vegetables were all cooked superbly and the curries were all incredibly flavoursome. The online ordering system works really well too.

We arrived late to our AirBnB and this was recommended by our host. We were not disappointed. Great sauces, quality meat and everything we craved from an Indian takeaway.

Always good, our go to for Indian takeaway. Love the Chicken Korma, Lamb Sag and Sag ponir. The naan is lovely too. Everything well flavoured and fresh.

During the virus lockdown we've been having a take away rather than eat in. We love the food and are happy to support them.

I just love this place. Always a very friendly welcome and the service is amazing. The food is great and generally on the spicier side which is good for me. However they are always willing to tone dishes down if you advise whilst ordering.

Visited many times, but on this occasion it was a little disappointing. Some of the food was okay, but my dish was not what I ordered and when I said this the waiter just shrugged. The was a small amount of very over cooked chicken and way too much under-spiced sauce. To be fair my friends were more successful with their choices. The service was generally okay, but again this could have been better, with the waiters several times trying to clear everything away when we were still eating and had just ordered more drinks. We will go again, but they need to raise standards in the kitchen.

Super food and definitely the best onion bhajis and naan breads we have ever had. So lucky to have this restaurant as our local.

Have not had food from here for 18 months and after an unexceptional takeaway it is likely to be another 18 months before we give it another try. The dishes were all sauce and little meat. Had the butter chicken which was a reasonable sauce but short on chicken. Not tempted to try the restaurant if the takeaway is anything to go by. I am used to far better.

Ordered Chicken Korma x 2 for the children and a Chicken Malaya for me. The Korma chicken was tough and chewy and the sauce was runny, gritty and tasteless. The Malaya was purely a korma with added pineapple. Very disappointed with these three and definitely the WORST Korma I have ever had (for and extortionate price. The chicken Tikka Massala was nice but that was not mine! Shame!

Visited for dinner..the food was quite nice and the setting was lovely but the service was fantastic. The place was empty so we got the full attention of all the staff but it was great service.

Centrally located in Sonning Common (opp the Village Hall), this is our new local. Paneer Tikka Shashlick - 10/10 Butternut Squash Bhaji - 10/10 Chana Massala, chick peas undercooked - 7/10 Bombay potato - 8/10 King prawn Jaflong, nice level of heat but spicing was a little crude (not rounded in the mouth) - 8/10 Decent draft beer and the wait staff made a good effort. Crumbs on the floor for those (like me) who care about that sort of thing.

Not silver service but fairly polite serving Shame they lean across you and want to clear the second you take your last mouthful. Food mostly good although sometimes chicken dry and overcooked. Nice for a casual get together.

This is a lovely little restaurant.The staff are a delight. Beautifully dressed, gentle in manners with lovely smiles. Very welcoming. The chicken in the dishes I ordered was so moist, utterly delicious. Menu is good, they serve ostrich, but maybe next time. Good atmosphere, recommended.

We have been going here for years and the food is always great. We also have had take aways and when home the food is still pipping hot and just as good as being in the restaurant.

Éramos las únicas personas allí (quizás no es sorprendente, a medio camino entre Navidad y Año Nuevo), así que tuvimos cuatro camareros atendiendo a nosotros. La comida y el servicio fueron excelentes, tuvimos el pollo a la mantequilla y el langostino picante al vindaloo (como debería ser), platos de verdura y keema y todo excelente. Recomendaría este lugar a cualquiera de paso - y sin duda volveremos en nuestra próxima visita. El personal era muy amable y cortés, comida servido caliente, y estándares de primera limpieza.

Once again visited our local Indian Restaurant for a meal. The food as usual was wonderful but the way the staff treat you makes you feel really special.

This restaurant doesn't look very welcoming from the outside but the lovely friendly staff inside were very inviting and understanding. The restaurant is quite old but the food is amazing and very good value.

Whilst your first impressions won't be great the food really is top notch. We've eaten here a number of times and they really look after the kids. I tried the lamb shank off the specials menu on Saturday night and it was superb.

I regularly visit and enjoy takeaways from this restaurant and I have to admit they serve the best Chicken Jalfrezi in the area. However if the boss is away then the quality of the service drops as it do on this occasion .

This is my local indian restaurant and has been for a number of years. Whether it is a take away or a sit down meal this establishment always delivers. The food is excellent, the service is great and it is excellent value for money. The Chicken Jalfrezi is the best I have ever eaten.

As a group of friends we have been going to the Connoisseur for many years and were there last Friday to celebrate our sons finishing A levels and going to Uni etc. Whilst I accepte there was a large group of 18 I can't believe how poor the service was.We waited for a full 20 minutes before anybody came to the table and a further 15 minutes before our drinks arrived.We then had tp 'grab' a waiter to 'ask' he wouldn't mind taking our food order.The restaurant was clealy struggling with experienced staff as there only appeared to be one waiter who was able to take orders whist the rest were clearly focused on taking the many take away orders from the kitched to the waiting area.My advice to the Tandoori managment is that they need to equally focus on their in restaurant customers as well as the takeaway ...otherwise they may find the restaurant empty in the future as we will not be returning until we hear things have improved.

Staff dull, food dull, atmosphere dull. Basically if you like bland food, then go for it. If you on would like am indian to take spicy and flavoursome, then go else where. The staff seemed a bit bored too!

We arrived at 9:15 and were clearly expected to order a take away, we were rather begrudgingly shown to a table, the carpet was covered in spilt food. We ordered a diet coke, this was clearly not real coke and was flat. The food was greasy and definitely lacking in flavour. My chicken had clearly not been cooked in the sauce but added as an afterthought at the end. Only one other table was occupied, there was no atmosphere and many sulky waiters just stood around ready to grab your plate as soon as you put your cutlery down, we were clearly an inconvenience. Will not be returning or recommending this establishment

We've been visiting this restaurant for 3-4 years now and the standard has been consistent throughout. The food is excellent (as good as any Indian in big cities like London or Birmingham), the service is fantastic and they are brilliant at looking after young children & making families feel welcome.

Went to this restaurant again last night, as a bit of a treat!!Not too busy, but food and service excellent. I just can't recommend this one enough. The menu is very good and not too pricey. The food is delicious, and plentiful.

They continue to maintain their standards and good quality. the best curry in the area. the staff are always very helpful. im a big fan of the Jalfreizi, do ask them to add a personality and be surprised.

Visited recently on a Thursday evening having pre-booked a table for two. The restaurant was half full and the service was great all evening. Attentive without being overbearing.The food was freshly made, generous portion sizes and nicely presented. We had starters, main and side dishes. I can highly recommend the starter Pawn Puree and Chicken Chat. Very tasty! The main course Chicken Shaslick came to the table on a sizzling dish and the meat was really tender and lots of it. We had a great evening and definitely will return again. We noticed a couple of families with younger children in there too which was nice to see. Excellent night out.

Superb food, freshly prepared in a great atmosphere.Good service, and value for money. The food was excellent, and plentiful. I visited early Sunday evening, they open at 5:30pm but by 7pm the restaurant was staring to really fill up. Will be going back soon, can't recommend it highly enough.The restaurant is actually at Sonning Common, outside of Reading.

Unassuming from the outside, we come here for the excellent food and service. This is a place where even the simplest of things like the naan bread are a cut above. We have lived in the area for 20 years so have tried many indian restaurants and we have had some of our best food here.

The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant is pleasantly furnished and immaculately clean. It's probably the best Indian restaurant in the area.

We are quite spoilt in the Village, we have great restuarants within walking distance. As others have said this has definately improved in the last 6 months. The staff do not rush you so you can relax and make an evening of it.

We were once regular customers, but haven't been for a long time. As soon as we entered it was clear the place had been substantially refurbished, presumably under new management.The decor was contemporary, but comfortable. The loos were sparklingly clean. Always a good sign.The service was prompt and friendly, and while the menu was pretty standard stuff, our selection was cooked well and attractively presented.For a village curry house, this deserves 4 stars.
