Cinnamons in South Oxfordshire

I ordered food for collection, and although it was ready in 25 minutes, it was mid at best. The pakoras (4) were soggy and unimpressive by the time they got home. The chicken tikka biryani was also a little disappointing. The rice had almost no flavour. The chicken was tasty but there wasn’t much of it. The vegetable curry was okay, but still uninspired. Overall the biryani was lacking in flavour and underwhelming. I’m a little disappointed, I’ll probably go elsewhere for an Indian takeaway next time.

I have been inconclusive, as sometimes great but this trip on my way home from Manchester....I was disappointed to have a tandoori mixed grill that had oily curry sauce on it and onions. TMG is usually from other restaurants marinated chicken on the bone and cubed chicken, prawns and if your lucky a lamb cutlet.

We fairly regularly have dinner at or order a takeaway from Cinnamons. The food is consistently good. We lived for many years in West London surrounded by good food of this sort and Cinnamons has never been a disappointment to us. My favourite is the Sally Lamb. :) On our last visit a group sitting next to us were visiting from Surrey after meeting friends at Waterperry and they were blown away by the quality of the food in our little village and kept saying how lucky we are. I agree.

Really disappointed. The samosas were clearly from frozen (not made fresh or in house) and the chicken chaat was weirdly sweet and had an odd taste. I ordered lamb Karahi for the main, the meat was super tough and inedible. Generally lacking flavour. The naan was fresh and nice. The wooden chairs are hard and uncomfortable. The service was not the quickest for a relatively quiet evening. Waste of ~£40.

I have lived in this village for over 20 years and this is our little gem of a restaurant Situated in the heart of Wheatley village They offer a really nice choice of really tasty food a friendly atmosphere where you’re always made to feel welcome. Nice selection of drinks clean and tidy throughout

I recently visited Cinnamons and had an amazing experience! From the warm welcome with a rose on Valentine's Day to the prompt seating and extensive menu with plenty of veggie options, everything was top-notch. The staff provided wonderful service, and the food was absolutely amazing. To top it off, they even offered a complimentary shot at the end of the meal. The atmosphere was pleasant, making it a great spot for a delicious Indian dining experience. Highly recommended 🌶️

Working and living locally. Other work colleagues had told me that the place wasn’t great but they also said the same about the fish and chip shop, yet the slice of fish I had from it wasn’t bad. So I decided to try cinnamons, thought I would play it safe and just order a couple of starters to take away instead of going all out and getting a full meal. Chicken pakora and mixed started (a few mixed grill items). Nice and easy, you would think. Now bearing in mind their website states the following: At Cinnamons Indian Restaurant we are proud to have been serving the local community in Wheatley and the surrounding area since 2000. We believe in total customer satisfaction and this is reflected in the service we offer and the quality of our food. All of our dishes are cooked to order using healthy methods of cooking and the finest, freshest ingredients. We look forward to seeing our regular customers again and greeting new customers for the first time at Cinnamons. I can only assume the main meals are far better than their starters because if they’re not and they’re of the quality that I received as a first time customer then I’m surprised they’re still in business. If I seen someone new coming in I would want to make as good an impression as what the regular customers should be receiving and make sure the food and service being provided was as per my website claim! Provide people with something good to talk about, whether they might never be back at all, or whether they might go and tell all their work colleagues. Also if they’re not switched on enough to know that there’s hundreds of construction civil workers living locally (Wheatley Brookes University Campus) who could well be prospective customers (because the campus canteen food isn’t great and only served Mon-Thurs) via word of mouth but the stumbling point here is that the word of mouth already, is not good! I don't see any leaflets or flyers on the campus advertising these local businesses either so there’s people living there who don’t know what’s in the village and won’t venture out to find out because there’s nothing enticing them there. I know of other colleagues who have started going to another pub that serves food in another village for pie night on a Wednesday after work and they are going to make it an occasional thing every 3rd week. Thats the potential but it could be more regular for cinnamons as workers are living here, whereas the other workers are not living in the village where they go for pie night. Cinnamons could provide more of a convenience but not if the quality and standards are not there. I don’t know whether to feel sorry for the place or whether they only have themselves to blame. I’m all for supporting local businesses but not when they’re not putting any effort in to supporting themselves. I wouldn’t have fed my worst enemy the so called chicken pakora they gave me. It didn’t even look like proper pakora, it looked like overcooked chicken dippers! And you could pick up a bag of frozen birdseye chicken dippers for less and whack them in the oven (taking care not to cremate them) and you would have yourself a better tasting alternative in about the same amount of time 15mins. I’ll attach photo’s for proof but if that was my business, I’d be mortified by freely giving someone ammunition to fire at me.

Tucked away in Wheatley this Tandoori does excellent Indian food at a very good price. They do Kulfi too!! Recommended

I ordered the set meal for one at £21.95 and went for the sheek kebab starter Chicken jacuti main with a plain naan and pilau rice and a side of vegetable bhaji. The food was ready in 20 minutes for collection, I pulled up right outside the restaurant a very friendly welcome and I was back on my way within 5 minutes. The sheek kebab was delicious and perfectly suited the mint yoghurt sauce. My chicken main was equally delicious and hot, all the food was very tasty and I'm not easily impressed. I'll definitely be returning to Cinnamon soon. Many thanks

Stopped at local service on the M42 and wanted somewhere for dinner. Googled best local restaurants and found this gem. Amazing service from arrival through to end - really attentive and helpful staff. Food was extraordinary. I have lived in Birmingham for over 30 years ( THE place for Balti's!) - so have tried many Indian restaurants - and this place is way up there for taste of the menu.

Cinemons restaurant is an unique discovery for my ever life.Even I am really happy by their remarkable behaviour and hospitality as well. I don't have any words to express my feeling.however I would like to requmend all of those who are food lover just test their food at once.

Seriously, go and buy a cinnamon stick and eat it. Simply terrible boil in the bag rubbish. Staff are great etc but food does not resemble what you ordered. Ghasl5.

Amazing food. Really delicious. Quite quiet tonight and for a good while it was just me and a friend and we had a lot of visits from the waiter who was not very subtly trying to move us on. This was a shame given we had paid for a meal. In the end we left earlier than we would have liked as we felt uncomfortable. Would 100% buy a takeaway again, but probably wouldn't eat in, unless part of a large party.

One of the worst Indians I've ever eaten , great big clusters of meat and the curries had no flavour at all the staff look so miserable it's unreal. Avoid this place at all costs

We ordered our food through Uber eats this evening and had genuinely never been so disgusted by an Indian takeaway or any takeaway service for that matter! Firstly our food was later than expected, once arrived we opened the bags to find one of our curries was missing from the bags. Before I explain the discussion with the restaurant over the missing item, I have to say that the food was appalling! As you can see by the photos the curries were all swimming is water / grease! There was no flavour in any of the curries and we were unable to eat the curries and the Bombay aloo’s that we had ordered, even the nann breads were stale! Anyway, I phoned the restaurant who said it would take 45 minutes to get us another one delivered!!! So we agreed with the restaurant that we would come collect the missing curry from them in return for a refund for the one curry. Whilst I stayed home and dished up the food for the rest of us (6 people in total), my sister went to collect the curry. Once she arrived, the staff were not interested in speaking to her at all and refused to refund the missing curry (that they had already agreed to do) and instead said they gave us an extra rice and more poppadoms in the bag, which why would we need that when we already had enough of that back home??!! Once she had got home with the new food we realised that the new food was just as bad quality as the other food we had! Anyway, my brother finally got his curry 30 minutes later and he refused to eat it because it tasted awful and again was swimming in water / grease. I called the restaurant again who said that we had to go through Uber eats to request a refund (which I have already done) and were not very apologetic over all the chaos called! This meal was meant for the fathers birthday and it was not enjoyable for anyone! We would not recommend this restaurant / delivery at all!!

Ordered on Internet for home delivery 19:00 called at 19:10 to confirm order told order had been accepted called at 20:10 told order out for delivery called at 20:45 told order had been rejected, told by staff they were very busy and not accepting online order, ask why i was told order was out for delivery at 20:10 and told to f@@@ off phone was put down called back and told again to f@@k off absolutely disgraceful!!!!!! Have been a very loyal customer for over 10 years will not be going back will have to wait for money to be returned to my bank account absolutely appalling, shame on you........

Collected our takeaway, it was delicious! Really hot, lovely food and enough that we will probably save some for the following day. Will definitely order again and recommend

Following disappointment that an Indian Restaurant we use occasionally was closed on a Monday . I did an internet search and found Cinnamon in nearby Wheatley a Pakistani restaurant. Just so glad we did . Great menu choices infact spoilt for choice . I ordered a main I had never heard of before . Wow fantastic flavours and not too spicy . Friendly polite staff . I will be returning.

The food is terrible from this place.. What a waste of money. Coop do a better Indian than this. I do not understand why people run a food business and cut corners on the food. it was embarrassing other than the naan and poppadoms the whole meal was terrible. The good reviews must be from previous owners surely or from people in area who have never had an indian anywhere else. Very disappointed. I will never order from here again.

We visited recently with friends and had a really good meal. The restaurant was very busy and there were a number of larger tables, but the service was good, as was the food. All in all, a great way to spend an evening.

Authentic Indian, with a diverse menu. Lots of traditional dishes, and some great house and chef specials. Food was excellent, very friendly service, and reasonably priced. Look forward to my next visit!

We won’t be ordering here again, chicken tikka masala should be made with a creamy sauce. The masala from cinnamon is watery, not how a masala should be cooked or presented.

It's easy to love or hate your only local curry delivery. But these guys hit the spot each time. Garlic naan and tikka masala, thumbs up.

A hidden gem worth travelling from London for

My partner and I happened upon the Cinnamons by chance. Food was excellent and the staff were remarkably hospitable. The restaurant was very busy, a sign always of a good place to eat. It was also great fun to chat about Bangladesh and speak my few works of Bengali with the staff and owners.

We were looking for a place close to us to have a quick dinner. It was a wonderful surprise to discover the Cinnamons. I had the king prawn butterfly as a starter, then the Tandoori Marsala king prawns with mushroom rice and saag aloo. My partner had the lamb samosa, then the pilau rice and chicken bhuna. Every single dish was tasty, nicely seasoned and served in a good portion. We were delighted with our dinner and will definitely be back soon! Thank you to the team for the amazing service!

We had a birthday celebration for the family and ordered a take-away rather than going to a restaurant. Eleven different meals and starters plus all the trimmings. Cinnamons got everything right, delivered on time and hot!! We could not fault the service nor the quality...

Cinnamons has been serving consistently good food for the last decade, including takeaways when Covid forced them to close their doors last year. The lamb shank is excellent - definitely worth a try.

Back for the third visit inside two months, and have yet to leave disappointed. Highlights include the garlic dip served with the poppadoms, chicken korma, lamb tikka masala and the garlic dip served with the poppadoms! Love this place, great food and great staff. Would definitely recommend

We had an excellent curry at Cinnamons last night, food was of good quality and very tasty. The Chicken Karai & Butter Chicken were especially good (both chef specials). Vegetable somosa's though we're not great however haven't deducted any stars as family of 5 left very happy.😋

Excellent find when staying outside Oxford. Broad Indian and Pakistani menu, differentiated by high quality ingredients and great cooking to really differentiate and bring out flavours. A final plus is this is great value. Friendly attentive staff. Pleased to recommend.

Delicious food, excellent service. The sumunda mach is incredible, as is the chicken jacuti. Before the pandemic, in the restaurant they were happy to substitute paneer into dishes usually made with meat, which was great. It would be nice to have that option when ordering online too :)

When visiting the restaurant or ordering for home delivery, the quality of food has always been excellent. The staff are very friendly and service efficient. Highly recommended.

Cinnamons has been consistently good for years - a varied menu of fresh food with nice but unfussy presentation. The lamb shatkora is particularly good, and not something you see very often. Service is friendly and quick. Highly recommended, especially with a tenner off.

So last night having been out all day and as the village had recently had menus put through our letterbox’s we ordered a takeaway from Cinnamons. Straight to the point, the food was great & delivered quickly. Can’t ask for more.

My wife and I and our 3 children ate here tonight. We had booked in advance due to current COVID-19 restrictions. We were warmly welcomed and shown where the hand sanitiser was to use on entering. We were shown to our table and offered poppadoms and the drinks menu. We chose to have poppadoms and decided to have no starters but go straight for main courses so our children were not too full to enjoy them. We had a Chicken Bhuna, a Chicken Tikka Masala, a Chicken Dandass, a Chicken Shashlik and a Chicken Jaccuti. We partnered them with a Sag Rice, 2 Pilau Rice, a Plain Nan, a Peshwari Nan and sides of Sag Dhal and Sag Paneer. The flavours were incredible. There was plenty of heat in my Jaccuti but the balance was spot on. Our children loved their meals and my wife was blown away with the flavour of her Shashlik. The sides were great as were the other accompanying dishes. I eat out with work normally once a week and always choose to have Indian or Nepalese food. This was right up there with some of the best I’ve eaten. Very comforting was the service and COVID alterations that had been made. They made you feel safe but were not at all imposing. All in all an excellent meal and we would happily return soon. Thank you.

Lovely evening at cinnamons. The staff are friendly & attentive but not imposing, the prices are normal for this fare. The food is wonderful & not oily, giving a clean eating experience with great flavours. All 4 dishes were spot on, breads lovely. Will see you again for sure!! Always friendly service when take-away ordered on the phone half an hour earlier prior collection. Delicious tasty but not too spicy great choice of dishes. When collected, their food is pipping hot so at the right temperature to eat at home 15-20 minutes later. Really enjoy their Tandoori dishes, their Nan breads and wide variety of yummy rices, plenty of veggie dishes like okra (Bindi Bhaji) & spicy potatoes(Bombay Aloo- Aloo Gobi- Sag Aloo). Definitely a mood uplifter once every other week. So pleased to have such lovely Indian options locally x

Something to look forward to when you can't go out. We have always enjoyed the food and friendly atmosphere at Cinnamons restaurant. During lockdown we have used their excellent delivery service to continue to enjoy excellent Indian food at reasonable prices.
