Lovley restaurant - Friendly service from Amir - Great tasting dishes - We had Chicken tikka curry - South Indian Murgi and fish tikka - All very tasty - This has got to be my favourite Indian restaurant of the many I have visited over the years 👌

Take away not as good as eating in. Our meals were swimming in oil, which I find very off putting. There was also a pool of oil in the carrier bag. Stained our table to boot!

3 meals, absolutely superb food. Nice atmosphere, efficient, friendly waiters. Just brilliant. I’d forgotten just how good this restaurant is.

This Indian food restaurant is the best eatery I have ever been to for real authentic Indian foods !! My husband & I have been eating @ this restaurant since 1994!! It has changed hands 3 times during those years ! We come there every Saturday night when we are in the Country ! We have introduced many of our work friends & close family to this lovely clean fine dining restaurant! It is much better then any we have tried across the UK over the years !! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to enjoy great class authentic Indian foods!!! Child friendly & used for big party celebrations as well !,

Came here last night with hubby, 3 daughters and a family friend. Everything was top notch. Food was absolutely delicious and we weren't waiting ages either whoch is a massive plus when you have kids with you. We hadn't been in a hood few years so we're really pleasantly surprised by the decor, it's stunning. All the food we ordered was just delicious, especially my chicken tikka samber 😊 fabulous service, great food and lovely staff. Will be back and not leave it as long this time.

Easy parking was a good start. Staff are friendly and the place is decorated well and there are some nice touches. This was our second visit here. The menu is typical of your usual indian restaurant so plenty of choice. We ordered chicken chat and chicken pakora starters and although they took a while to arrive they were very tasty and decent sized. We ordered tandori mixed grill with madras sauce and chicken tikka vindaloo with garlic naan and pilau rice. All the food was very good and not too hot to taste. Meat quality was great. The prices are very reasonable We thought. There are lots of booths to sit which we like and tables aren't too close together. A great experience over all so we will be going again soon

We ate here for or Xmas party and we booked well in advance. On the night we all arrived early but before we even sat down we was told they need the table back asap. We hadn’t taken our coats off before the young waiter was told to come over and take our drinks order. Exactly the same happened with our food order . They tried to take our plates away I think three times before we had finished. We was very pushed and rushed through. In total I think an hour and half before they had us out. The popadoms did not taste right and the curry’s were very oily. A lot of food was left due to it being cold or very oily. Later that night I was sick and had very very bloated stomach, I had gone home straight from the restaurant because of the bloating I though I may have had a stomach bug. The day after it turned out that 4 out of the 5 of us that ate there had bad bloating so obviously was something in the food. That’s 5 families that will not recommend this restaurant or eat there again.

Excellent food, some of the best Indian food I’ve tried, really enjoyable. Portion sizing was generous too, would highly recommended this place. Staff were great and accommodating and also the location is close to other bars and a nice central location in Atherton. Highly recommend a visit.

A group of seven of us had a very good meal here on a Friday night. Good menu, a little different! Great service. I’m sure we will return.

Nice little restaurant in the centre of atherton. Has all the classic dishes plus others. The food was fairly bland didn’t have much flavour. Good prices though… we shared a mixed starter platter, two mains and rice and breads and popadom and drinks came to £50 so not bad at all.

Night Home cooked food made fresh to order. Decor is very modern. Ask for not as much spice and they are very accommodating. Very reasonably priced and plenty of parking outside.

Great food, we ate a lot at the one in Leigh before it closed, this one is just as good and as good as the one in Westhaughton. Food is fantastic, good service and fast. Only minor quibble, staff were a bit less friendly, but I guess that's just the COVid situation. We will return.

We ate dinner here on Friday 25 September 2020. First of all we were very impressed with what they had in place to keep us safe. There was plenty of hand gel and the tables were properly spaced. They also have some clear partitions between some of the tables. We had a lovely meal and a very nice bottle of red wine. The food was perfectly cooked and everything tasted fresh and nicely spiced. I had a tandoori chicken main course and the portion was large and very tasty. The service was excellent; the waiters were lovely and trying very hard to make the dining experience enjoyable. It is modern but not too bright; we really liked the decor. We will definitely return.

The food was lovely, the best curry I’ve ever tasted and most of the staff were really nice however one member of staff didn’t come over to ask if we wanted any poppadoms and then at the end he started to take our plates away while we will still eating and we had to ask if he could leave us to finish which I think is quite rude. Apart from that, it was a really nice meal and I would go back again.

Never had a bad meal here, have visited a few times and the food is always amazing! The thing that could maybe be improved is more windows - one of the rooms has no windows and can feel a bit closed in. Apart from that I would highly recommend! I haven't visited during the pandemic though, so I'm not sure what the safety measures are like.

First visit to this restaurant as we decided we deserved a mid week treat and some friends recommended it. The food arrived in good time and was nicely presented and hot. We both agreed the dishes were well cooked and tasty. The bill was also a pleasant surprise as it was very reasonable. The place is maybe a little over decorated and it could have done with out the group of guys constantly swearing on top note. I appreciate this is not an easy situation to deal with but a polite word about moderating the language and keeping the tone down would have made things much nicer for the other diners in there.

Simply the best curry in the world, and the service isn’t bad either!!! Standards have never dropped every time I’ve eaten here for the last 6 years.

This is the best Indian around!! The standard if the food here is 2nd to none! I can not recommend this Indian highly enough. And the staff are great.

Decided to eat out during the eat out to help out scheme and they managed to fit us in. The butter chicken was excellent, the other two meals were also very good, and the portion sizes were good. Service was prompt and excellent value for money.

I am usually a real wuz at our favourite Indian restaurant usually having korma or passanda (the milder the better), but I bit the bullet and tried a recommendation from one of the waiters and what a brilliant dish, (actually remembered to take a picture).I had Monsuryha Chicken which is served with Naan bread fingers and I also had Pilau Rice with it - Superb, fantastic what else can I say I can't wait till we go again that's definitely the dish for me. My hubby had his usually mega hot dish of Chicken Madras.I would definitely recommend this restaurant the food is great we have never had a poor meal. Thanks to all the staff, keep up the great cooking and great service.

Food was pretty bland, lacking flavours. Our order was ready 20 minutes later than time quoted, no apology or explanation.

The restaurant had a lovely, bright decor. Staff were very helpful and the food was delicious although portions were moderately sized.This was a visit by recommendation and we will certainly be sampling the food again.

I visited Tamarind table for a meal with my husband. I have recently decided to follow a vegan diet and asked the staff if they could cater for me. The waiter was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable about how the food was cooked and which dishes were suitable for me. Great service and great food, we both enjoyed it so much.

Booked this restaurant well in advance for a meal for my dads birthday, there were 9 of us and it was a Saturday night, from as soon as we sat down we felt rushed, we could see that there was a very large area reserved for a party which were due to arrive soon. We ordered and no sooner had we put out menus down our starters arrived, this pretty much set the tone as the servers lingered round our table waiting for us to finish, hardly given time for food to digest before main arrived. Felt like they just wanted us to leave as soon as possible which is such a shame as could not fault the food. Doubt we will return.

We don’t eat Indian often, nothing wrong with it but we used to eat at the Far Pavillion for over 20 years every week so got a bit “fed-up” but we thought we would try the Tamarind after having a poor experience at another near by restaurant. We weren’t disappointed, service efficient & staff really friendly. Not packed in like sardines either. We went on a busy Saturday evening and it was very well organised. Food was hot & very tasty. One small “gripe” is that there isn’t much choice for our 8 year old granddaughter but it’s the same at most Indian restaurant I think. We shall definitely be back thank you x

Been with a party of 20 last weekend food and service is excellent as always but the deco is WOW.

Had the mixed tikka dish which was without a shadow of doubt the worst curry I have had. Lamb was tough and the prawn yes the prawn did not resemble anything I’ve see before. Give it a miss

Called in after local beer festival. Was fairly busy but quickly attended to. Very impressed with quality of food and reasonably priced.

We visited as a family of 15 for a family birthday, what can I say from coming in to leaving the staff could not do enough for us, the food excellent we had mixed starter and a main curry and all cooked to perfection. We will definitely return, best curry place we have visited.

This without a shadow of a doubt is the best curry restaurant for miles. I was told by an old friend that the chef was from the old savar Balti tandoori restaurant from the 90s, which was in my opinion the best curry house ever!

Not our usual Indian Restaurant of choice and only went on a recommendation. We visited for a takeaway meal - telephone ordered in advance and picked up within 30 mins, no waiting.

Very welcoming staff, great service, cannot fault the food, excellent night out. Clean and tidy, starter A to share (between 2) is a must. Deffo go back soon.

What a refreshing change to the normal Indian restaurants I have visited and Been too, I have eaten Indian food throughout the U.K., Europe, The Caribbean and South America and this must rate among the best.

Have been here for the first time 15th June following recommendation from a work colleague. Couldn't fault the food, the staff, the service, the decor or the price. Will definitely be going back.

We visited on Saturday 23rd June around 5.30 pm and already the place was quite busy.We both had poppadoms, starters and a main course, 2 soft drinks, beer and wine coming to £46 in total which we thought was really good value for what we had. The food was very tasty and served on warmed plates, portions were generous too.

I'm not lover of indian food as I find they're all pretty sub standard, bland dishes with low quality ingredients. This place is WONDERFUL. The food is beautiful, full of flavor and immaculately clean throughout. It takes some doing to get my attention and this place has !! Love it and will return for sure !! FIVE STARS * * * * *

First place i have been locally where i don't need to tell them to make it spicy. good curry, The staff where happy to check that there would be no gluten or wheat in my curry.

Decor and surroundings fairly average but this is not high class dining. What it is, is fabulous fresly made and aromatic fayre. Constant turnover of customers with table arrangements being changed to squeeze in more customers. Service was very good considering how chaotic it initially seems. Staff attentive and helpful. Toilets nice and clean. Prices very reasonable. So, if you want high quality food and are not bothered about plush surroundings then this is worth a visit. The only downside is that one family rather idiotically was allowing a child to wave a red laser around. Luckily it didnt spoil the food.

Called in for a meal after local beer festival.Curtly told that only take away service available after 1030pm...I pointed out it was 10.15 at the time.Staff reluctantly gave us a table...no one else in the restaurant. Waiter was off hand and surly.

Family business trying very hard to please. The food and service were very good. It is difficult to impress with food being so similar in many Bangladeshi Restaurants; but what doesn't let them down is the attention to detail.

Went on Saturday for an ad hoc curry after the Liverpool v West ham game. Walked in no problem getting a table. Very attentive staff and food was really nice. Decor a bit outdated but if you want down to earth food in a no nonsense environment then give it a whirl. Hot towels to finish and a wide ranging menu.

The Tamarind table is at the centre of Atherton with ample parking nearby.

My family and I ate here last month for my mum's birthday and we were all very disappointed.

Been here on many occasions and my partner and I are back there tonight. The food is always spot on and the service is superb. We always get a warm welcome and staff always come and ask if everything is okay. The restaurant is also lovely and the atmosphere is relaxing. Food is also reasonably priced; cannot fault it at all.

This is an excellent restraunt the food is fabulous and the staff are brilliant and accommodating they can't do enough well worth a visit

Worst curry I've had, used to love coming here for meals. There was 8 of us and we was in there for 3 hours! Took way to long for our meals to come out. I had tikka masala which wasn't nice at all, I left more than half as I couldn't eat it. Won't be returning any time soon.

Went last night with the wife and another couple. Been here quite a few times now and the food is always good. Tried the biryani last night and it was spot on. Prices good. Staff very friendly. Would I go again? Of course I would. Highly recommended.

Mid week meal with my husband.Liked that there were lots of sauces with the poppadoms.The meal was perfect size, taste and textures. I only rated it 4/5 cos not sure about value for money.Wine was a bit expensive for what it was. Will return soon though!

Me and the Mrs had a meal here last night. The food was good as usual but last night the service was shocking. We were seated near the front window. The drinks were Orderd and arrived quickly.... and that was about it for the service... We waited 15 min then had to call a waiter over to order and after the meal we asked for the bill, then nothing..... and more of nothing... none of the waiter's were even looking in our direction, we then had to again wave a waiter over to ask for the bill. When we finally paid and the chap was bringing our change he kind of paused with the change before putting it on the table, as if he was waiting for me to tell him he can keep it. Sorry guys but on this occasion it wasn't tip worthy...

Recently visited with friends and had a great meal, with good service at a reasonable price. When ordering our meal the waiter spent time to explain different meals as my wife was undecided what to order. Will visit again. There is plenty to choose from, and it is served well presented and tastes as good as it looks.

Visit often with family. Food always to high standard and reasonably priced. Lovely clean restaurant with very friendly, eager to please staff that are great with kids. Definately well worth a visit :)

Ate here on a Friday night. We felt uncomfortable as it was extremely busy, the waiters were rushing about, our order was taken quickly and meal produced just as quick.. Must mention though the food was hot and tasty. May visit again on a weekday night .

Nice place BUT tragic serviceJust on the doorstep you can see mess, and rubbish not good for restaurant. No rubbish bins provided outside, even for cigarette.Over decorated, nothing near Indian style. Bit "pushy" staff, nobody is coming to talk to the waiter and answer hundred of his questions and he keep asking..."where you from?"...Waiter spilled my drink on entire table, doesn't bother to change table cloth and served food for all of us on dirty, wet fabric... Order come in many dishes which was difficult to place on our table so waiter told us to move "stuff" away...he seems irritated and nervous.Difficult to tip waiter as no one is really "yours".FOOD And this is completely different story.Food is absolutely great, delicious, fresh and juicy.Meat perfectly done, tender and tasty.My kind regards to chef.My advice, if you looking for great taste experience, this is your place, but as a client I expect a bit more from restaurant. Even in small town people looking for atmosphere and style.

had a meal here for my uncle in laws 50th there was 18 of us, the food was good and service was quick even with a large party.

After a recommendation from a friend we tried the restaurant and found the food to be very good. My husband and I both had chicken pakura's then we each had different curries - chicken madras and chicken korma.The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a nice ambiance and we are both happy to go again as soon as we are able.

20 of us went to Tamarind Table for a friends 50th. It was fantastic. We were in the new room n they put our banners n balloons up for us. The food was fantastic and the service was brilliant again. I cannot fault anything about it. All the staff are really friendly n helpful.

Like many I've grown up eating Indian food. I love it and have eaten at many resteraunts and the UK! When i moved to Atherton i set about trying the local offerings, there are a few that are genuinely top notch but I've found Tamarind Table to be the best and consistently the best.I've been here a good few times in the past 12 months, sometimes to top a night out, others in the afternoon with family and sometimes as takeaway and its always excellent! The menu has the classics but a great array of less usual dishes too, nothing has been bad yet. Two stand outs so far are the signature Tamarind Biryani and the classic balti, which is served on a sizzling dish. The quality of the ingredients and importantly the meat seem excellent.You may need to book at busy times but they are always accomodating. A really good curry!

i had Poppadoms, Shish kebab and a Chicken Samber which i asked for more or less hot.The chutney tray here was weird it was rather small for 6 Popodoms between 2 of us. there was Onion, Mango chutney, Raitha (was more like minty milk, very watery any how). then there was this bizarre cold curry sauce which is weird i have eaten Indian food all over the UK and Europe and never encountered anything quite like it. They have a heat guide on the menu here which is handy, they also Have a symbol for vegetarians which i don't object to unless you are going to put a symbol there for Gluten, Dairy and Nut allergy sufferers. vegetarians choose not to eat meat i don't have a choice if i eat Glutent ill be seriously ill.

Really nice meal reasonable price except for house wine, was good wine but not worth £14 a bottle that's the only negative will be going back

From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we all felt special, The attention was just right and we got excellent advice on our choices, we all had something different and we ALL thoroughly enjoyed our meals, so much so, my friends took their leftovers home and one friend took a takeaway home for her hubby. We will all definitely visit again, if you are looking for somewhere special but won't break the bank, look no further and I don't give glowing references easily. All I can say is "Thank you Tamarind Table for a wonderful evening and meal"

Visited Tamarind on Wednesday 1st March and can honestly say the food was of a high standard, service was excellent and the atmosphere was good.Highly recommend!

Went out for my friends meal lovely food lovely area everything going great until the next big party came. Being rusted to move and leave. We also had children was made to fell right had your food get out. I've been a few times and always give good reviews but sorry guys you let yourselfs down with this one. I will go back again but if rushed again it will be the last

Came to tamarind table for Christmas lunch, which was a bit different for the day but fancied a change! The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic and as there was many of us dining on this occasion we didn't have to wait for anything once. Lovely curry and will DEFINATELY recommend it!

Visited 7th January after booking a table via phone. First impressions were quite impressive and the table was set out very nice and the chairs were comfortable. It's a lovely restaurant and the staff were very polite. Just a couple of issues, I thought the portions were rather small compared to a few others we have visited. The chutney tray which accompanies the papadoms had very little contents and wasn't sufficient for the amount we ordered. The main course was no where near the amount I expected which made me order another pint of Cobra. I could have ate the same again which is not the case in other restaurants of similarity.The Nan bread was thin and also smaller than I had expected, but it was nice.Would I visit again? It wouldn't be by choice but I wouldn't put anyone off from trying it.Overall, a clean restaurant good service but small portions.

Lovely Christmas Eve meal. Fixed menu very good value for only £15 per head, excellent service and very friendly staff, will be booking again very soon.

What can I say, "Excellent from the moment you walk in"Food and service is outstanding, even met the owner who is opening a new restaurant in Leigh opposite wetherspoons. There a very few restaurants in the greater Manchester area who offer great food and service, but this little gem is a great find. Would highly recommend.

Had a wonderful evening last night celebration Christmas with friends. We had the private room, the staff were very polite and helpful x nice relaxed atmosphere, will definitely be going back.

Typical Indian experience.Food: Very good, full of flavour!Service: Suitable, we have eaten usually around 6pm - the restaurant seems to pick up around this time, not used to it being so graveyard quiet before though.Look: Nicely decorated and all tables are well looked after.Overall: 8/10 --- Would recommend here for families, couples - it's a good cheap eat, very good value for money - don't think its classy enough for a special occasion however.

Visited on a Saturday evening, four adults and three children aged 7 - 11. Have been here many times with various friends, family groups etc. and have always had a great curry with good service. Staff are always friendly and the restaurant is usually busy with a nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Most places suffer from a dip in quality , but this one hasn`t , still the best chicken madras ever ! Friendly staff , excellent service -everything you could wish for .

Had to put another review on as it's been over 12 months since my last review and still the quality and taste is consistent. Highly recommend the shashlik dishes and rogan josh, absolutely gorgeous. The owners are lovely too and very polite and friendly.

Another great meal at Tamarind on Saturdat night with family, arrived quite early to a nice warm friendly welcome and seated straight away. Drinks served and time to browse the extensive menu. Starters of onion bhajis, fish tikka (simply delicious) , chicken pakora, sheesh kebab and mains of chicken Khahri, chicken Sami, chicken & lamb jalfrezi, chicken & lamb balti and lamb chops all delicious being served timely and hot. Mo even arranged for the lamb chops to be cooked quite plain to accommodate one of our party. The restaurant was busy with great atmosphere a great place to relax and enjoy a lovely family night. Great food with great service and great value thanks to all the staff.

I absolutely love it in Tamarind Table, the food is always fresh, delicious and served quickly. The staff are all extremely helpful and polite. The manager takes time out to speak to you making you feel very welcome. The menu is large with a good selection, I usually have exotic Shashlik which is delicious. All reasonably priced to fit with the people of Atherton. I return nearly every week, if I miss a few weeks I crave the food. Highly recommended.

Visited here on Sunday 18th September at 5.30 for a family birthday. A party of 13 Mainly adults apart from one child. Two of the party are disabled one in a wheelchair and one uses a stick to walk. Table was well set out although a bit cramped, was ready at our arrival and we had no problem being seated with the two disabled persons in the party. Menu has plenty of choice and styles including some English dishes. The food was of excellent quality and service was faultless. Portion size was average for most indian resturants and equally same with prices.Two bad points are. 1 There no disabled toilets at this resturant so our wheelchair guest had to leave earlier than others to go home to use a toilet. Our other disabled guest who uses a walking stick managed to climb the stairs to reach the only toilets available but it was far from ideal. On reaching the toilet found that the cubicle catch and lock were broken and had to try and use toilet while attempting to keep the door closed (male toilet).If the disabled facilities were available I would have given 5 stars. At present though this resturant is unsuitable for disabled guests.

Amazing. I'v been twice now and both times the food was gorgeous! Best pakoras I'v ever had and biriani for that matter. We went with a couple of friends who live in Doncaster and they said it's the best curry they have ever had. Staff are so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!
