Tamarind Spice in Epsom and Ewell

How can a restaurant in this day and age not have a high chair??? We had to walk out as our toddler was offered an adult seat instead.

I recently came here with friends and our kids, the food was very nice and we were all stuffed at the end. The service we received was excellent especially how accommodating the staff were for 4 young kids. I would visit again.

Yet another great dinner at Tamarind Spice. Came on a Friday evening to celebrate our anniversary. Had the BEST king prawn Korma with keema rice and naan. The sauce was delicious and it was very generously filled with succulent, sweet king prawns. The ambience and service was both warm and welcoming. Plus from start to finish it was top notch - Attentive but not intrusive. We eat here whenever we can as it’s local to us, and we really like the bring-your-own-bottle policy as it means we can spend more of our budget on choosing food to enjoy from the delicious selection available on the menu (they cater for all different dietary requirements inc vegan). We are very glad they introduced the BYOB policy. All of the dishes we’ve tried previously have been excellent but overall we would recommend poppadums with the chutneys to start (shared), followed by mains of Lamb Bhuna & King Prawn Korma, with rice and naan. As an extra treat we enjoyed onion Bhaji & saag aloo. We had enough left over to bring what we couldn’t finish home with us. The restaurant were happy to oblige in providing us with containers for our leftover treats. All of this delicious food came to a very reasonable total that was worth every penny. Would happily recommend Tamarind Spice to everyone as a dine-in Indian restaurant where you get delicious food, good service and excellent value for money.

First time ordering from this restaurant. Firstly the driver was very friendly and polite. The food was hot and extremely tasty. The lamb curry was the best I have experienced from any takeaway in this area. Highly recommend ordering from here I certainly will be going back . Thank you

Wonderful atmosphere, first rate service by friendly and very efficient/helpful staff. Food was plentiful, perfectly spiced and extremely tasty, do not understand why I/we have never visited this fantastic Indian restaurant before. Will definitely be visiting again very soon, can't specify any single dish but everything we had was a delicious.

First time here for a takeaway tonight and it was lovely, especially the Sheekh kebab!! Probably the best Sheekh I've had and I've eaten a fair few. Definitely be back ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best curry I’ve had in the local area

Had a delivery, was on time, delicious and spicy king prawn curry as always.....also chicken curry tasty and daal yummy

Very good prompt service despite being absolutely packed on a Saturday evening. New menu has a wide selection of curry that was enjoyed all around and mopped up with the naan bread. No longer serve alcohol (bring your own) but a good selection of soft drinks and mocktails. Been a family favourite for many years, and will be for more to come.

This was our favourite Indian restaurant 5 years ago, but it's gone downhill since. The food is still nice, but there seem to be issues with almost every order. On a couple of occasions, the Korma was way too salty. This time the food took over an hour to arrive and it was cold. Also we found a hair in the food which put us right off. It's a shame as we used to love ordering from Tamarind Spice, but now we probably won't be ordering from there again.

I was here with my cross country team (Epsom Allsorts) for our end of season celebrations last night. The food was delicious with excellent service at a fantastic price. Our club has been coming to the curry house for a number of years. Highly recommend! 😋

We started getting regular takeaways from here because they also do a vegan menu. The tofu dish is amazing - I’ve not had anything like it anywhere else, and I think about it a lot 😂 Not eaten in the restaurant itself yet, but it always looks welcoming and cosy, so will do soon.

This is a BYO alcohol restaurant, which works extremely well. Basically, you bring your own drink, and they provide the shiny clean glasses, also the openers. Which means you get the best value for money for your drinks. The decor is modern, and the food is excellent quality, served with a smile. All in all, it's a win-win situation for this restaurant, which is probably why it was packed to the rafters when we came. Everyone appeared to be enjoying their evening, too. Tamarind Spice is an excellent restaurant.

I ordered a takeaway from here this evening. I rang as soon as it opened to order and explained I had dietary requirements (coeliac and no onion) and checked the ingredients of the dishes I wanted to order. The lady who took the order checked with the kitchen and was told they could make the dishes with no onion. When the food arrived and we'd started eating I became suspicious that one of the side dishes had onion in. The lids of the dishes were marked up stating 'no onion' but I rang the restaurant to double check. They then said that two of the three dishes they'd confirmed had 'no onion' actually do have it in the base and so it cannot be removed, they just didn't add extra!!! A very flippant attitude to dealing with dietary requirements and poor customer service in how situation was dealt with. They should tell customers the presence of ingredients even in small amounts so individuals can make decisions on what is safe for them. Won't be returning.

Great indian restaurant with great food

Excellent service, food and atmosphere as always, we visited early on a Friday evening and by 7.00pm the restaurant was full. Despite being busy the service was prompt and friendly. Alcohol is not served here, but you can bring your own. Wine and beer glasses are provided free of charge. We will be back soon, thank you for a great evening.

Food was cool by the time it was delivered - seems the driver was parked outside our house for some time - I had to go out to her to collect

1st time on the 7th of October 2023, I ordered takeaway. When I went to collect my food, the restaurant was packed which is a good sign. Unfortunately the food was awful. I ordered chickpeas curry, chicken vindaloo, tandoori roti and kulcha naan. The chickpeas were cooked straight from Tin and chicken vindaloo gravy was running like water. Kulcha naan were so sweet. May be I was unluck but I thought to leave a review so they might improve.

Delivery meal - really delicious tasted fresh and chicken was really tender. They forgot some poppadoms so they kindly returned to our address with them 10 minutes later. Excellent service will definitely return 😋

Takeaway was terrible king prawn dupiaza was disgusting the prawns rubbery loads off watery flavourless sauce not the norm for a dupiaza more onions usually I’m used too The other curries were bland £80.00 for a takeaway for 3 people would expect much better Only things that tasted ok sag aloo Popadoms Won’t be using again Stick to Surrey palace

This is a really great Indian restaurant and its by far my favourite in the area for this price bracket. Service is quick and friendly, and there is a fantastic choice of classic dishes as well as something for when you're feeling adventurous. Its always delicious. Takeout is prepared quickly and you're not waiting long, especially when you go and collect it yourself. Highly recommended.

Onion bhajis missing from order

First time I've been there food was very tasty. I will definitely be going back.

Really really disappointed today. The food was bland, nothing like our usual order. Tough prawns, dry chicken, watery sauces with no flavour or spice. Happened a couple of times ordering from here now, as the last time we ordered it was great. Not sure if there are different chefs, as the food even looked a different colour to how it usually is, but now decided I won’t be ordering from here again as it’s become a pot luck restaurant. Such a shame

Great atmosphere really busy, you could see that they do well in the area. Great selection of curries and sundries - the poppadoms and pickle tray was brilliant. Bring your own wine and the offer glasses as per corkage, they allow you to bring your own beer however they also sell their own with Cobra on draft and bottles of kingfisher and other sorts of lagers.

Big menu, however, food was very average, don't think I'll be going back anytime soon

First time I have used any thing like this and it was easy to use on my iPad. The only thing I didn’t realise was that I could have ordered it earlier in the day and chosen a delivery time but now I know that it will be good for next time. Food was excellent and arrived within the time I was given when I clicked on the ‘Deliver as soon as possible’ option. Driver was friendly too. The experience made an evening ‘Get Together’ with friends really enjoyable. Thank you.

Most bland food ever ordered three meals one meal was cold others was mostly liquid with no flavour what so ever such a shame as £50 down the drain . We order a takeaway every week so try support local businesses ! STAY WELL CLEAR

Had a table early (6.30) on a Saturday. We arrived and didn't even have time to take my coat off, let alone sit down before we were asked if we wanted poppadoms and drinks. I asked for a wine, to be told they didn't serve it. But they do serve beer and spirits.... only when the waiter came back that I queried why other tables had wine to be told I could get a bottle from the local shop to bring in. We had a tikka masala, which was too sweet for my liking! Tablecloth was taken away mid conversation and we had to hold our drinks up whilst they did this. We weren't offered a dessert menu, and had to ask. My daughter was under pressure to order as the waiter was standing over her whilst she was looking at the menu. Asked for the bill, which included my drink that I ordered with the dessert that never arrived. Explained this to the waiter and got an eye roll. Service far too rushed, quality of food not great for the price charged, and I don't understand why they don't serve wine when they have a display stand of several bottles at the bar.

Had to phone twice to see where our food had got to, it arrived more than half an hour late - then the driver got lost and had to be talked in. The food itself was pretty good although a bit cold. Not the best experience

Please do not order any chappati's. I ordered 4 chappati's and all were under cooked. It seemed to me that the flour prepared was not fresh and thus the chappati's were very heavy and stodgy. Chappatti's when properly cooked should be very light fluffy and fresh to the taste. When I complained I was told I should have phoned immediately and it is too late now. Also that they do not look at any customer reviews.

Delicious food, quickly delivered and full of flavour. I can’t speak to the points others have made about lack of heat (spice wise) as we ordered medium dishes but they were all lovely and well prepared, meat very tender and sauce and sides or full of flavour and spice. This will become a favourite takeaway I think!!

Terrible! Not sure what’s happened to this place. Delivery order took over 2 hours - delivery alone was over 1 hour late and a further 30 minutes after calling the restaurant and being told the order would be with us ‘within minutes’ Food was ok but portions were really small too given their prices are a lot higher than most other Indian restaurants!

Booked a table for 2 last night July 24th We were seated just beside the kitchen door after 20 minutes we got asked if we wanted poppadoms & chutney and ordered drinks at the same time . About 30 minutes later our order was taken ,we waited 1 hour & 20 minutes for our food which I had to ask the manager how long is our order going to take . The restaurant was busy but we were just left there watching the kitchen door swing back & forth and listening to the waiters shouting and blaming each other for delays . The place was totally out of control ,it's a shame as the taste of the food was very good . The management and staff don't have a clue how to run a restaurant between them and the customer service is poor . We won't be using this restaurant again .

We ordered a takeaway and it was delicious. I have found with some Indian takeaway food it can be very oily but this was absolutely perfect. My son is vegan and he had a vegan korma which was yummy! I highly recommend

Welcome was good, the room is nice, new and it's clean but, the food didn't feel very tasty and fresh. Also, the Cobra beer felt a bit flat and somehow lacking the usual flavour. Additionally, I have also ordered a garlic nan but, I couldn't see or feel any garlic at all and felt disappointed. Overall, between the flavour of the food (or lack of it) and the flat beer, I left with a feeling that the restaurant was perhaps trying to "cut corners" in order to improve margings. if that's the case, then I would rather prefer to pay a few additional pounds but at least, to enjoy all Indian flavours the way they should be..! Value for money was fair but then again, I have felt that something was not the way it was supposed to be and I would rather avoid going back again.

Food way spot on, lamb and chicken masala, coconut and pilau rice, coconut nan and onion Baji were all perfectly cool year flavour plenty of sauce!The driver and the gentleman that took the order on the phone took out their time to find my address as it’s tricky to find. Very polite and the driver was very polite smiley and efficient!Defiantly my new friday night take away!

We'd been excited about going to Tamarind Spice as a few people had told us about it since moving to the area. However the food was really disappointing; the vindaloo was a mildly spiced tomato sauce with none of the kick you'd expect. The sauce of the king prawn korai which is supposedly a "staff favourite" was watery and lacked flavour. The service was slow and we had to chase our drinks order. It was our first visit and sadly it will also be our last.

Ordered a takeaway Saturday night, thought we would try local for a change. We were told to arrive at a certain time, we were early, good job as it was ready and would have been sitting there for another 10 minutes if we collected the time they told us to. The waiter who opened the door (sign on the door says to wait) was quite abrupt, no greeting, just asked name and gave me the bill, no please or thank you. Maybe because we aren’t regulars perhaps, but treating people like that won’t make them regulars. We got it home, the popadoms were stale unfortunately and the chicken in the curry wasn’t great, seems like a mix of nice chicken and not so nice chicken. The rest of it was ok but we won’t be rushing back there!
