First time having this cuisine it was top notch, from when you enter and leave the service is 10/10 and the food is equal to this, (my favourite was the pistachio cheesecake for desert) the interior and how the restaurant looks is beautiful! definitely recommend and thanks to the staff it was a great time for me and my family.

Here’s a well-cExceptional Dining Experience at Tamarind Kitchen I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tamarind Kitchen, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment I stepped in, the warm ambiance and inviting decor set the perfect tone for a delightful evening. The service was impeccable—attentive yet unobtrusive, making sure every detail was taken care of. The food was nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish was a harmonious blend of authentic Indian flavors and modern culinary finesse. The rich, aromatic spices and carefully balanced ingredients showcased the chef’s expertise. The standout for me was the [mention a favorite dish, e.g., “butter chicken, which was perfectly creamy and packed with flavor, paired beautifully with the fluffy garlic naan” The cocktail menu was equally impressive, complementing the dishes with creative and refreshing options. The attention to presentation and the use of high-quality ingredients were evident in every sip and bite. Overall, Tamarind Kitchen offers an exquisite dining experience that combines exceptional food, top-notch service, and a warm, elegant atmosphere. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or exploring it for the first time, this place is a must-visit in London! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Food is yummy however it is nothing extraordinary for the price you pay. The prices are unreasonable even when you compare to other high end restaurants and Michelin star restaurants. The service is outstanding though, the staff is the most polite, courteous and respectful people I have seen and I have been to over 50 high end and Michelin restaurants in London. The staff is the best. The food can improve and the prices can come down slightly or offer more quantity.

Visited here recently for my wife's birthday and we really enjoyed our meals. We opted to go with cocktails which arrived quickly and were really well put together. The shared starter of Raj Kachori was fun and tasty. We had a selection of dishes for our mains which were all incredibly tasty and had probably the right amount of spice for most people. I finished with the mango Kulfi which was presented like an ice lolly. I'd happily eat here again.

Booked this as remember it being great years ago. Well not any more… the starter section you choose from a small or regular portion which feels unnecessarily confusing as the price difference between the options is huge. When we asked more about what this involves we were informed that small is ‘two pieces’ and regular is ‘three pieces’. This translates for example to £22 for TWO regular sized prawns. Plus over £30 for a main curry dish. We like eating at good restaurants and happy to pay for quality but I don’t think that size portion for those prices is justified anywhere. How they will ever get repeat customers is beyond me, especially with the likes of Dishoom down the road who charge half the price for I imagine (based on the dishes I saw as I walked through) double the quality.

Incredible. That’s it. Everyone who says they had bad experience are probably just bad customers. Food was a 10/10. Got the sticky ribs, crispy brocoli, butter chicken, bhuna gosht, and garlic naan to eat. Everything hit and the spice was perfect throughout. Got a couple amazing drinks, recommend the passionfruit one especially. Service is the only complaint i see on here, and tbh i thought that they were almost overly polite! Checking in and very nice and not rushed at all. Vibes were immaculate, almost felt high afterward because I was on the perfect level of buzz mixed with a spicy mouth and full belly. Impeccable! Me 🤝 Tamarind Kitchen Will be back and will recommend to others visiting the area.

We made a reservation for when they opened at 1700 (5 pm) and ate their pre-theater meal before catching a show. (If catching a show at 1900 (7 pm), definitely make a reservation for 1700. The menu is a fixed with four dishes that were all good and served with rice and naan. We had butter chicken, shrimp, dal (lentils) and spinach. Atmosphere including dim lighting as well as quietly played modern renditions of swing jazz. Service was friendly and quick, we left at 1820 with plenty of time to get to the theater early. Indian cuisine is not something I eat often at all so can’t rate versus other places. I do enjoy cooking & eating many other cuisines and thoroughly enjoyed this. Most of the food had a little zing in terms of heat; the shrimp was the hottest of the four.

Unfortunately, our experience at Tamarind was disappointing. Despite a significant bill, the service was rushed and unwelcoming. Towards the end of our meal, staff (all poorly trained indian students, it seemed) stood uncomfortably close, making it clear they wanted us to leave. The overall service felt unprofessional, with a noticeable lack of training. Given the price point, we expected much better. I would not recommend this restaurant. There are many better Indian restaurants in the area, and this one for sure is not worth a try.

Delicious Indian restaurant! We came for my birthday. The menu had variety without being overwhelming and the selections were all DELICIOUS! We got the vegetarian appetizer — raj kachori. It was unlike anything we’d ever had. Very unique and beautifully presented. We also had the butter chicken (I wish I could have licked my plate), and the baingan bharta (aubergine side) and naan. Avoid Tamarind Kitchen. We went to Tamarind Kitchen a month ago (6 guests) and we were forced to order starters, despite not wanting any. We put our order in for mains and the waitress came back and said we needed to order starters as the mains would take a long time to arrive. We said we didn't mind and that we were not hungry enough to order starters. She said we had to and insisted. We were all embarrassed by her unprofessional behaviour. We ended up ordering starters against our will. The food is overpriced for what you get and the service is poor. I've emailed Tamarind Kitchen to get in touch with the manager, but my email has been ignored. This says a lot about the contempt that customers are treated with. I'm going to escalate it until I speak to the manager. Ignore the positive reviews and go to an Indian restaurant that actually serves good food and treats customers with respect.

By far one of the best Indian restaurants I have had the opportunity to discover in my life. The meat is of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. We tasted both red and white meat, and both were perfectly mastered. The side dishes were simply delicious. Their extensive wine and cocktail list, with or without alcohol, is carefully chosen from across Europe, and all their offerings are a perfect blend. Regarding the team and the welcome, nothing to complain about: we were treated like kings. The team is dynamic, responsive, attentive and very efficient, in addition to their good humor and their perfect knowledge of the dishes. Special note: we forgot our keys in the restaurant, and one of the waiters stayed later to wait for us and return them. Reflecting their benevolence and kindness, this restaurant offers us first of all excellent cuisine in addition to a royal welcome in a trendy and intimate setting, don't miss it. The food cannot be faulted. My butter chicken was absolutely lovely. However I felt a little watched by the waiters. As soon as I finished something they would come to take the plate whilst I was still chewing. I personally dont mind things being left on the table till the end but i know some people would want them removed. But still, everything was removed so quickly from in front of us that it was hard to relish in the brilliant taste of the food. Additionally, and what led me to leave this review, was the old trick in the book they pulled on us and we should have been careful. As soon as we sat down we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We should have said tap water but I think just assumed that still water would be tap. As this was something we didnt order, i didnt really expect them to add it to the bill. But we were charged £4.50 for that bottle. Coke was also £3.50 for a smaller than 500ml bottle. All in all great food. But pricey.

Not feasible for groups as there is a requirement of 1 main per person( in minute letters on the menu) which in an Indian restaurant translates to 1 curry per person (we were a bunch of girls) so it’s not possible for us to eat so much at one sitting. Not including the breads or rice. Along with that there are not much vegetarian curries (just 2) so it was not a great experience. Also asked for a table with pram space as the babies might sleep and want to be in their pram. From the moment we arrived they did not seem happy to see a pushchair get inside. They kept asking if more adults are joining and were disappointed that they gave us a bigger space where at least two babies were not going to eat. (Hence goes there 50 GBP PP rule). If the restaurant had issues with babies visiting they should have mentioned during reservations. Would have saved both the trouble. In this place you have restrictions on what you can order, like you must order one main per person regardless of how much you’re spending on other stuff. If you ask they may “””allow””” you to avoid this rule. It’s crazy that even having a menu you can’t choose freely from it, if you want people to spend more change your menu structure instead of forcing people to buy stuff. The food itself was pretty normal, nothing too crazy. Probably you can get better for less money.

Great place for date night, We had a lot of their small plates and the lamb shank was to die for, not your typical dry lamb shank but packed full of spices and flavour! ambience was great with the low mood lighting, their mocktails were lovely and the waiter was great as he managed to make the cocktails with out alcohol! More on the pricey side but its what you pay for counts!

Enjoyed a nice birthday meal here with cocktails. Food and service were both good but it on the more expensive side of the spectrum.

Classic Indian restaurant. Loved the Indian flavors. Every dish was great. One remark about the Lobster, which was overcooked, what a shame!

They had difficulty to accommodate for my allergies (dairy) and the service was not great, staff was rude while serving plates and pushing to order as soon as you arrive. My dish was too spicy that I could t even eat. My family ordered the tasting many they said was ok

I’ve never been a fan of indian food but this is an exceptional place with incredible, mouth watering flavors. It was so good that I went again the day after I first came here. Very kind and attentive servers, I highly recommend coming for a nice night out. Only bad thing is that servers pressure you to order more food and desserts, other than that, amazing!

As soon as we entered we were told we have to spend at least £50 per person to be eligible enough to dine at this “fine dine” place. Left and went to Kricket had great food and paid around the same without being told to do so

I have been there a couple of times but for the first time the staff turned us off saying that it’s a fine dine restaurant and the minimum spend applies. We are in 2024 in london and based on someone’s outfit or looks no restaurant gets the right to state such conditions, of course we don’t mind paying the 50 but that’s not how the staff should treat their customers. Never the less I am happy they turned us down because we found an even better place The Kricket, which has been so far the best Indian place I’ve been to!

We had a fabulous meal at the Tamarind Kitchen. Staff were really helpful and responsive, we were able to have both the regular and vegetarian tasting menus and the food was superb.

A fantastic dinning experience that presented genuine Indian flavors in a tasting menu that was rich, varied and tasty. The wine and cocktails menu were also a great match to what we had. The atmosphere is cosy and staff were tremendously friendly and helpful in explaining what we were trying - I always enjoy this narrative to set the tone describing ingredients and meal presentation. On and off, one of my favorite Indian restaurants in town

The food here was absolutely amazing! It is Indian cuisine from various regions, but with a modern twist. We had venison samosas which were extremely flavourful. I had the Hyderabad lamb shank and the flavour profile was incredible. My husband had the chicken biryani which was serviced with a crust on top and again flavourful. This is a must visit when we are next in London.

One sometimes relies on nostalgia against their better judgment. After an 8-year long hiatus, we eagerly anticipated our return to Tamarind Kitchen. We leafed through the menu, and ordered the chicken chops, lamb kebab, and kerala prawn curry. As we awaited the food, we marveled at the ornate interior decor, and the 5 quid sides of rice and raitha that funded it. The grilled items arrived: 3 small bits of chicken, 3 cylindrical lamb kebab pieces. The portions were tiny, but were at least tasty. They were down the hatch in 10 bites, and our wallets were 35 quid lighter. We marveled at the interior decor again as we awaited the entree. The Kerala prawn curry arrived. Imagine a chicken tikka masala at a standard high street lunch buffet. Now swap the chicken for prawn. This was apparently the vision this restaurant had in mind for this dish: an overly spicy, watery tomato soup, in a disconcerting shade of red, with rubbery prawn bits. Completely lost were the subtle notes of coconut and Malabar spices advertised on the menu. Even the rice was bland and uninspired. The rice! Our comments to the staff on the quality of the food were met with bemusement and a shrug of the shoulders. Typically, when one spends north of 75 quid on a meal, a full belly is the least one would expect. But there we were, back on the street, on the hunt for a Thai restaurant in Soho.

Romantic lunch reserved for my birthday. The setting is magnificent, superb decor, even the staff wear pretty outfits. Lots of Indians in the restaurant, that’s a good sign! Indeed, we enjoyed the cocktail with the main course (we did not have dessert). I found that the choice was varied and everything seemed appetizing. The prices are correct, especially for a starred restaurant. We had a great time and will come back with our children!
