Bombay Palace in City of London, Westminster

We went to London for my wife's 50th birthday and Bombay Palace was recommended by a friend. This place did not disappoint. The service and food were excellent. Also, the owner and waiter were concerned about our kids regarding the spicy nature of the food without knowing our kids liking Indian food and being familiar with the spices. We appreciated the concern and care. Clean, efficient, great atmosphere and highly recommend!

Food was bland and not tasty at all. Nevertheless the venue and service were great. Would not recommend this place.

Very nice variety and the main course had decent portions. My favourites were the Chilli Paneer, Samosa chaat, and the Veg Biryani. Pav bhaji portion was a bit disappointing at 13£. Staff was courteous and service was quick

Great option for a classy VIP-treatment Indian restaurant in central London, 10min walk northwest of Park Lane and Mayfair! I had my typical chicken tikka masala curry and at this restaurant it was within the very best I’d had ever! I highly recommend👍💯

To me, this is dependable Indian cooking, though regrettably devoid of innovation and flare. Dishes are generally well prepared, but a bit on the boring side. I would have liked to seem more artistic expression at this price point. As for service, the restaurant seems overstaffed, with some impediment to the logistics of the operation. While you are certainly well-attended, I find that relating to four waiters all inquring for your satisfaction with the meal a bit excessive.

It says Bombay palace is "High-end" and it truly lives up to it. The purpose for us was to have a team lunch. We just walked in and Mr.Robert Pinto was really kind enough to accomadate us. The dishes we ordered were a mix of street food and traditional indian food. The food was delicious and the service was great. The icing on the cake was the chai which was prepared fresh for us and tasted like the authentic "cutting chai". We also managed to have a good little conversation with Mr.Pinto about some common topics. If you are on the look out for a place to have tasty food, in a relaxing environment with friendly staff, Bombay Palace is the place to go!!

2024: Came here for a lunch and it was almost empty for a reason Gol guppe was disappointment. Too salty and not amazing Chaat was good Vada pao was below average with a bun and not a pao. Had whole green chilli instead of fried chilli From 2020: Ordered Chaat and Gol Guppe (pani puri) My wife really liked it. The spices were really awesome. Good secure packing. Slightly expensive for a take away. Just didn't like melon in the chaat

This is the 3rd visit in 3 months. The food is so tasty. The biriyani and the lamb shank are just amazing. Your pallet will appreciate the depths of flavour that you can enjoy. The service is friendly and efficient. Everyone is there to make you feel at home. The warmth is so welcoming, especially when you step in from the cold. Excellent place for a delicious meal.

The pricing is on the high side overall speaking. Love the butter chicken but I am not sure it justifies 22 or 24 quids. Lamb shank was big and the sauce was nice but the lamb was not marinated enough. The nans were a disappointment. And it’s a shame when the butter chicken was so nice. Wine is also expensive with a glass of red costing around 10 quid. We opted for half bottle and it cost us £24.

Excellent find - authentic dishes with amazing flavours and very warm, attentive, welcoming staff who are well informed and friendly. Overall, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening. Lovely ambience and just the right distance between tables which is quite rare we find at central London restaurants. A big thank you to Adi and The Bombay Palace team!

I would not recommend this restaurant as we found the food to be mediocre. Service was really good very nice staff. We requested 3-4 items to be either returned or cooked properly and they were super quick to replace or exchange some of the food items.

Civilised dining experience with pleasant food but nothing that warrants the prices I'm afraid - amritsiri fish starter was elegantly portioned, then dwarfed by the massive raw onion rings plonked on top, lamb biriyani arrived in a flat dish rather than a steaming spice sealed pot, gajjar halwa was a dry edged mound. Service is overrun with waiters: water waiter (who declined a request to take our drinks order), wine waiter, food waiter, plus maitre'd. This glut of staff is why you will be paying £150 for a two course Indian takeout level dinner.

Food was slow and no dessert after 10pm

I live in the US, came to the UK for a few days to visit friends. Generally, I think Indian food is better prepared in the UK and Bombay Palace did not disappoint. Staff was friendly and chatty, and very attentive. I ordered a shrimp dish - the portion was perfect and it was all really delicious. A very enjoyable experience!

This weekend we ventured out of Kent once again and headed into London for a curry at Bombay Palace in Mayfair. We were greeted at the door and led through the busy restaurant to our table by a very polite member of staff. The menu is different from the run of the mill curry house, with many dishes we had not seen before. We spoke to the Staff who were helpful and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations, suggesting 2 dishes one of which wasn't on the menu and ended up being the highlight of our meal. Having not had many curries in London, we were torn as to whether the meal was competitively priced and summed it up as ‘London prices.’ Unfortunately a drink and our naan bread was forgotten and we had to chase for these, but the restaurant was busy and it didn't take away from how flavoursome the food was. Bombay Palace was a busy, lively restaurant that we would have no issue recommending or visiting again. Six Poppadoms Please #6PP

Bombay Palace Paddington impresses with its elegant ambiance, attentive service, and delicious, well-presented Indian cuisine, earning a solid 4/5 rating. However, my experience at the Woolwich branch was notably disappointing, highlighting a lack of consistency across locations.

To be honest to this restaurant, this was one of the better tasting Indian food I have had in Central London area. In my opinion, many Indian restaurants water down the authenticity so it can cater to a wider local audience. Nonetheless the food served at Bombay Palace straddled a fine line between being a British Indian cuisine and authentic Indian cuisine. And it succeeds in that regard. This success can be ascertained by the crowd that dine at the restaurant, consisting of both British and Indian customers. Depending on what kind of Indian food you like, there is a going to British Indian food like Madras curry and Tikka Masala, or OG Indian food like chaat and momos. You won't be stuck without options. We ordered the ragda pattice chaat, tandoori mixed grill platter, missi roti, paneer kulcha and chicken Tikka masala. The Tikka Masala and Mixed Grill were the best ones we have had in UK. No doubts about that. The portions were good too as the two of us were full and couldn't finish off the platter and Tikka masala. Now the reasons why we can't give them a 5/5 score are because: 1. Chaat item was just average. Missi roti was also really dry and hard to tear easily. 2. The food felt a bit overpriced for the overall experience. 3. The vibe and decor of the hotel felt like it was stuck in the 1990s and would really need to upgrade to reflect how other premium Indian restaurants are in London. In the end I came out of the restaurant with a full belly and happy experience. I will recommend this place especially if you are looking to have a group dinner just because of the sheer variety of Indian food you can experience.

This place is pretty chic and they offer quite an interesting variety of curries, breads etc. Every curry (we ordered 5) tasted quite different and was nicely-executed. The Murgh Tikka was tender and flavourful, we enjoyed the Dal Tarka and Bindi Masala very much. Felt the Madras could be spicier. The naans were all good, though I felt the prices for rice were a bit exaggerated. A good address, we had Indian from Loughborough to Cambridge and London on this short trip and it was by far our favourite.

Staff is nice and honest. I left my purse there by mistake. Managed to get it the next day with all the things intact inside. Made my day!!! Thanks Bombay Palace!!!

A nice restaurant it's part of a hotel , the prices are a bit high for the quantity but the service and taste definitely adds up to the appeal for the restaurant.

As an Indian, I’ve had some pretty good Indian food. This was probably the best Indian food I’ve had. The spices and flavors were just perfect. Good food with great service is hard to come by so good for them. Definitely try this place out.

Big shoutout to Adi who made a busy lunch table of more than 15 guests feel so welcomed and at home - given the best recommendations on different dishes to order, and everything came out hot, fresh and so flavorful!! Some of our favourite curries that aren’t found much in other Indian restaurants are the Spinach & Paneer curry, the smoked aubergine, the aloo and cauliflower - all so exceptional with the fresh naan and rice varieties - not a single thing went wrong and were so grateful! Can’t wait to be back 🙏❤️❤️

Not the best curry I've had, but decent enough. Fresh and well cooked, naan breads were perfect. Could have done with a touch more heat, but spicy enough for the average punter. Good portions for the cost. Would recommend

One of the best Indian restaurants in London. Excellent and very friendly service, with exceptionally good food. It is a very relaxing environment, not too loud and with the tables nicely spaced out allowing for a very enjoyable experience. We have eaten here a number of times with family and friends and would highly recommend it as a high quality Indian restaurant.

Had a delicious meal with my family while visiting London. The staff was very attentive and kind. Our waiter made several recommendations (that we took) that didn’t disappoint! Beautiful decor, not your average Indian restaurant.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 40 years but the way we were treated having spent nearly £700 is pathetic. I don’t think BP management reads reviews but let me state facts ; The starters came late and the waiters kept on taking away the dishes whilst we were still eating how rude is this as we are not a charity but paid for those dishes. We were told that the vegetables had run out and couldn’t even have a basic dish like vegetables jalfrazi, how can they run a restaurant without basic vegetables on a Saturday night- no apologies at all. They ran out of Rasmalai a basic dessert that every Indian restaurant had. They didn’t have Cobra beer and offered us some local beers that is not known. Finally when the bill came they didn’t even offer any wet wipes but we have to beg to for it and only 1 was given between 5 people. No shame as being London well known establishment. Avoid and don’t waste your money
