Tamarind Express in Newport

First time ordering from here as we've recently moved to the area. Best Indian I have ever had. Egg rice was full of flavour, chicken nice and tender and soft, fluffy nan bread. Restaurant itself is absolutely spotless. Many thanks. We will be back.

Not terrible, not great. Late delivery, forgot drinks. If you’re visiting the area and looking for takeaway, try elsewhere.

I've Ordered twice from here recently and both orders arrived 30mins early (great for most people but a bit of a pain for me as I'm diabetic and need to inject 20min before eating). But dont let this stop you from ordering, the food has been amazing. I highly recommend The masala e bahar, probably the best tasting curry I've ever had. Both orders have been correct, food has been hot, and really tasty. Definitely worth the money. Big thumbs up from me. Would give 5 stars if the delivery eta's were better or i was notified of change of time. Definitely 5* for the food.

Best lamb biryani is newport easily!

Order the mixed grill and chips. Should rename it: large chips and handful of meat. Luke warm, chewy meat, chips cooked-ish. Should have read the reviews before ordering.

Waited almost 2 hours for delivery No updates or communication but got told on delivery they were very busy If we’d been told it was a 2 hour wait we wouldn’t have ordered Sadly won’t be ordering from them again

Ordered through Uber Eats - took nearly two hours to be delivered. Was told on the app it’d be 50 mins - called the shop to a very angry man telling me how busy they are and too busy to update the Uber eats app. I won’t be using them again.

Always ordered from Tamarind and never had a problem until now. Placed an order on the app, requested it to be delivered at 20:50. Received order at 17:47! Called Tamarind to say this is not when we ordered for only to have some arrogant horrid man telling me its tough! That his end it say 6pm! Wouldnt do anything to help just shouted at me telling me it wasnt his fault and that he won't do anything about it. I wont be ordering from them again! Thats money down the drain! Absolutely vile and disgusting way to speak to a regular customer!

Been using tamarind for a while. Food is always excellent and the staff are usually very good. Went there tonight and the girl at the counter was awful No customer service skills no personality and what a complete let down for a takeaway that is very good. She had a stinking attitude and have not a clue about the menu or how to take a order. I will not be going in there again if she is there. What shame that the actions of one person reflects so badly on a takeaway that are worthy of 5 stars for there food

Lovely curry on a Nan bread. Good size portions

I always leave a review until I have eaten twice from a place. Both times have been absolutely lovely. Onion bhaji have a really tasty, crispy batter. All curries we have had a creamy and full of flavour. They kindly deliver to us all the way out in Whitson

Waiting an 1hr50mins for onion bhaji’s, chips, chicken tikka and some poppadoms is absolutely disgusting whether the shop was busy or not. Absolutely wasn’t worth the wait or the money. We’ll not be ordering from them again and will advise our family and friends to avoid this place too. Really disappointed with this order. Waiting nearly 2 hours for practically one item from the menu is appalling!

Food arrived nearly 3 hours after order was placed. When I rang to say there was items missing I was basically told tough luck which ended in a heated argument with the manager save to say I will never ever order from here again!

I really should just leave the photo here and enough said! However, really rate and recommend. Had an issue a few weeks ago (not completely their fault) and they went above and beyond to sort it. Beautiful food, always hot, amazing customer service, treating their customers right. Highly recommended most of the menu and the snack boxes are amazing aswell. We are all quick to complain when things go wrong but this place has got it right in many ways. They have a customer for life, thank so much. Tricia from Moorland x

Staff are rude and will argue with you what time you placed your order when my email confirmation waa right infront of me. Food is dry and my delivery arrive an hour and half later cold and horrible with stuff missing....never again!

Very satisfying well cooked lamb curry with nan. Importantly the meat was fall apart tender and tasty. All cooked perfectly

Rude Behaviour from staff . Food is undercook most of time i did order and tell them make sure the food need to be properly cooked but staff saying to me do not order here. How rude 😡🤬

Staff are very rude and disrespectful. 80% of the time that i order food from them the chicken or the lamb is undercooked. And they say that i am wrong. Which is not right. If this is the way to handle custumer complain then good luck with your business and i also will be getting in touch with the owner which i know. And let him know how bad is the behaviour of the staff on the phone.

Great food... when the order is correct. 2 out of 3 occasions we have ordered food, its been wrong or missing items. Which is a real shame as I dont think we will risk ordering again.

We often have takeaways from here and everytime they do not disappoint. We vary the starters and mains and every meal is unique in flavour. I rate it the best curry house in Newport!

Great food as always, the curry munch box’s are enough for two and more, meat falls apart, and quick delivery.

Absolutely appalling people Ordered a takeaway, the chicken tasted off. Returned the meal, only to be basically told we are wrong. Delivery driver became abusive and threatened my wife. Really appalling meal and staff, an apology would have sufficed, but had to call the call the police in the end. Avoid if you can.

Ordered the "Seek Kebabs, Aloo Gobi and Chicken Tikka". Really nice. Welcoming staff. And nice surroundings.

Not worth £12 for a 9inch mixed meat only 8 pieces of meat and a box of spicy chips rip off

Outstanding food, but be aware they are overcharging ,menu picked up from the counter are lower prices to whats being charged, ,not helpful when I rang to complain.

No sauce with my curry at all! The nan was plain ordered garlic! The food was cold when I only live 1.3 miles from the tamarind express. The poppadom was all broken. First and last time ordering from here very disappointed.

Unreal food, I have ordered many things off their menu and I cannot get enough of it. Fresh, delicious and incredibly well cooked. Whoever makes their food is incredibly talented!

Excellent food, really can’t fault it. If you consider yourself as a bit of a curry connoisseur then check this place out. I’ve enjoyed many a good curry around the UK and the Tamarind does not disappoint!

Ordered from here, wasn't sure what to expect as it was my first time. Food was absolutely delicious, one of the best I've ordered from, will definitely be ordering again.
