had high hope after hearing friends reviews. sadly was disappointed. not much meat, curry was very average and the nanbread was very dry/hard. the onion rice was nice though and the mushroom baji was tasty.

Fantastic spot! The clerk was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the extensive menu (there's seriously more curries than I've ever seen on a menu). The food was all delicious and flavorful - highly recommend trying the different curries!

I had placed my order by calling the Takeaway, The delivery driver was so polite, turns out he is the NEW OWNER, and the food was awesome, would definitely order from them again, enjoyed the food and the brief conversation with the new owner.

Fantastic takeaway - the best in Newport. I've been using the Railway for about 20 years and as a long established business, they have certainly perfected their food. Everything is made fresh to order and is consistent in flavour and quality. The staff are great too - you are always met with a friendly smile and cheerful attitude. They also do a loyalty discount where you collect tokens depending on spend and can exchange them for money off future orders. Food is all reasonably priced anyway. Plenty of on street parking outside when you collect your order. Highly recommended - it's good enough that I drive from Cardiff to collect from there. Ironically I also never liked curry until I tried their Lamb Dhansak and that converted me.

Excellent food and great set menu for 2!

I ordered a Lamb Tikka bhuna that was basically a Lamb curry medium, certainly not a bhuna. The tiny pieces of lamb got stuck between my teeth rather than chewed as they were so small. Clearly, this business has been sold on or is under new management and this will be that last time we ever order from here as the previous owner for years would never have let this standard of food go through the door. Edible if you are utterly starving but that’s about it. Never again 👎👎

Mum and I have been going here for years, so it pains me to change my review. It's gone downhill very quickly. Many orders are not correct and we've had a few inedible meals. It's not cheap, so it's a big let down when you can't even eat what you pay for. I can't recommend this place any more.

Fab curry but tonight our poppadoms was all smashed into little pieces

Unfortunately not a great curry tonight from the Railway Tandoori. I ordered from Deliveroo which was a great service and a good pace of delivery. Unfortunately the curry packaging had grease leaking all over it, the Lamb Tikka was horrendously overcooked and dry. The rice packaging and rice was greasy. So much grease that every time I touched the packaging I had shiny hands. The chapati bread was heavy in texture and not well cooked at all. I rarely ever leave bad reviews but sorry guys it was the worst curry I have had in ages. I am not feeling great after eating it either. Overall 3/10 at best. I would say to find another place for a takeaway if you are looking for a good clean takeaway with plenty of flavour.

wont be ordering again chicken korma also king prawn curry,,,all sauce an about 6 bits chicken same as prawns ,food was luke warm when delivered

The chicken tikka masala is stunning and always worth getting it a little spicy if you’re into that. The keema naan is also lovely and perfect for dipping in the curry sauce. Would recommend getting “spicy” chips too. Great bunch of lads in the shop with an open kitchen so you see it being made fresh.

We have used Railway Tandoori for years and could always get a lovely meal.........so what's happened to it now We ordered four meals, couldn't wait to enjoy. What a disappointment! The food was inedible, even the chips weren't cooked properly and hard in the middle, but the meals were SO VERY OVER SALTY we couldn't eat them. My husband phoned the Railway Tandoori to let them know that the food was disgusting despite spending over £46 and all the guy said was "I'll let the chef know" or come back in and we will replace them...............WHAT you must be joking,, replace with the same rubbish food .... no thank you. We certainly won't be ordering from here again - ever.

What a waste of money and another awful curry. The food is getting worse here and this is now my last time. Never seen so much water run out of a curry! Shocking! Avoid at all costs!! 🤬🤬🤬

Had a take away from this restaurant for me and my wife when arrived ,rice was missing both meals were cold very disappointed,,,this is why restaurants loose their customers,,,sorry but will not use again

Fantastic selection of dishes. Chef is eager to please, he asked for thoughts on a particular dish, which quite honest, was amazing. Becoming my new favourite takeaway. I'll be trying other dishes. Friendly staff and fairly priced.

Owners have changed despite denials, and it shows!

Food took an hour and a half to come, items missing from order and when rang they were very rude. It isn’t what it used to be

Shocking delivery service. No chips or mango chutney ordered and paid for. Delivery driver didn't want to leave food because he wanted cash after he rang them he left it but not want we wanted. Rang but told manager was cooking eventually spoke to him because I want my £3.85 refunded to me. He states he will give me £5 back tomorrow!!!! Will never order again from here

Since under new ownership it has gone down hill, hardly any chicken in my curry for the last 3 orders I’m having to ask them to add chicken, after our last experience I won’t be going back again me and partner are both ill. Something strange going on with this place as the staff deny being under new ownership and keep saying the owner is in Bangladesh, this isn’t true as he walked into my shop a few days again and told me he sold it on

I enjoyed a beautiful tasting curry, rice & chips from what was my fav curry house. Unfortunately I was ill all night afterwards. Very upsetting all round.

When my order change came (different sauce) the skinny delivery driver was argumentative and rude, another note when paying a lot of money for food I don’t expect cheap tinned vegetables to be found in the ingredients this has to be the worst Indian food I have ever had the displeasure of eating

I use to use this place all the time and the food is pretty standard nothing special but over the last few months some staff members have been particularly rude while ordering over the phone and the respect for local long serving customers have gone I will not return and go to other places which are also located within the area

The coconut fish curry was sensational, staff very attentive, we will be back!

We had a menu delivered and decided to order a takeaway, the delivery was fast, and the food was tasty and good quality, they give you coupons so when you collect 10 you get £5 off, a loyalty scheme. We will use again ad we enjoyed the food.

Hands down the best Indian takeaway in Newport. I’ve been coming here for years and years. Never once have I been disappointed.

We know the owner of this place really well his nickname is Biggie most of his cooking style is Bangladeshi cooking all halal and is a family run business I'm not really a curry lover and asked Biggie quite often for different style curries as I don't like hot food and he always comes up Trumps food is always delivered hot and a warm welcome in the shop his prices are not steep I just wish that you would open a restaurant

I have been using the Railway Tandoori for take aways for the last 20 years, and I cannot fault them. The food is excellent and fantastic value for money. Thoroughly recommended.

Curry was extremely oily & inedible, even after draining a quarter of the contents of the tub (all oil) it just didn't taste right won't be going back again it ruined the takeaway some of the poppodams weren't crispy either they were like rubber.

This is the best Indian restaurant in Newport in my opinion. I travel half way across town to use this one specifically.

Disappointed, everything smell and test the same. Even their indian bread is not up to a customers satisfaction. Tondory dried...and expensive.

Friendly atmosphere and lovely curry

My tandoori chicken rezela was fantastic & my wife jalfreizi was "the best she had ever had". Only a small place (to the rear of the station by the old royal mail sorting office) but the staff and food were 10/10.

The chicken rezela is the best dish that they do and is worth ordering just for that. The other things they do are just OK. The naan is not worth ordering.

One of the best Indian takeaways I've ever had. The naan bread was huge and fresh, the samosas were equally gigantic and clearly homemade and my chicken tikka korma was as perfect as it gets. Highly reccomended!
