We ordered online and were give a delivery time of 55 minutes later. We phoned 3 times and kept being told it was out for delivery. The food finally arrived 2 and a half hours later. On the final phone call we requested a refund but were told this had to be done online. I cannot see where this is possible via the online system but am not happy to have paid nearly £40 for a meal that arrived at bedtime

Been using these guys for takeaways for years…Continue to go there even though we’ve moved out of Maindee…they never disappoint

We went as a group for the Indian buffet lunch. The food was fantastic, really tasty and plenty of it. The staff were very friendly and so helpful.

Have ordered quite a few times the driver is always super friendly and the food is always very good keep it up guys this is my go to Indian

Very disappointing. Madras had little to no flavour, biryani was overcooked and mushy. Wrong sauce delivered and replacement sauce took over 35 minutes to arrive! Keema naan had very little meat filling and chips were undercooked and hard. Not as expected.

We have been ordering from Tamarind for over two years now, it's the only Indian in town that never lets us down. Always freshly cooked, restaurant quality food.

I recently ordered from this restaurant which I have done many times before and never had a problem. However this is the state of the last meal I had and all I wanted was credit for another time but that didn’t happen so thought I’d share my latest experience.

Absolutely horrendous food from here. We ordered a takeaway over £80 worth to be exact. Received our food, the masala had all white foam on the top of it. The onion bhajee were undercooked and tasted like dough. Our poppadoms smelt like wallpaper paste and tasted like plastic (clearly they’ve been cooked in old oil). Chicken tikka dhansak was tasteless and came with plain chicken and barley any sauce. Mushroom biryani was also tasteless. Mushroom aloo had potatoes in that were also undercooked. Mint sauce tasted like sour water instead of mint. Called the restaurant, they didn’t even apologise said a manager would call back at 10pm never heard anything further. This was ordered through Just Eat who are equally just as useless, was advised every place tastes and smells different and they will not refund half of our order. Absolute rubbish service, terrible food. Wasted £80 as none of the food was eaten. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

PLEASE STAY WAY Completely unprofessional Waited 2 half hours for food then came absolutely freezing rang to see if they could change the food, the staff member was so rude and was laughing at this I don’t find this professional at all when paying for for a service, and wait in 2 1/2 hours when they said would only be 40 minutes. This is completely unacceptable. Really disappointed

Paid £38 for a meal for 2 and to say it was appalling is an understatement. We have had many meals here which was good but this evening I wouldn't give it my dog to eat. Tried to speak to the restaurant and the customer service was nearly as bad as the food. You have now lost a regular customer and if anyone asks I'll be truthful...

Got a takeaway from Tamarind which was pretty much perfect. De;I’ve red on time by a friendly driver who delivered some delicious food. I would go as far as to say that the Lamb Vindaloo was amongst the best I have had either as a takeaway or as a sit down in-house meal. The food was plentiful and well cooked. Excellent takeaway, have used twice and will definitely use again.

A decent Indian restaurant. Not as good as we expected. The rates on the menu were different from the real rates.

The place has been done out really nicely, they must have spent a fortune on it. The service is friendly and the curry is spot on. None of this fusion nonsense, just proper tandoori curry house fare. I loved it, and if I didn't live 200 miles away I would be a regular visitor.

What a find! A delicious meal and friendly staff. We had Mango chicken and Chicken Sagwala. We were not expecting an authentic delicious Indian meal on the Isle of Wight but we were wrong.

Came here for the first time on Saturday. Staff were friendly on arrival and during our stay. Food was one of the best I have had in a while. Recommend this place highly. Will defiantly return soon. Thanks

Prices a joke. Ordered a week ago & price increased by £5 in a week. Will not be using again.Bettwr deals at little India or taste of Asia.

Ordered food here as I always use this takeaway, food took 1hr 25 for delivery (should have been 45 mins) food cold tasteless, the only thing that had flavour was my sheek kebab starter which tasted off anyway so wasted it, didn't put all my order in so had to phone them, Won't be using these again & in this time of coat of living I won't be wasting my money on a rubbish inedible meal, There's alot nicer places around.

I ordered food from work on a very busy evening. My colleagues and I were anxiously salivating waiting for the food. When the food arrived, it was shocking, tasteless and very cold. I called to complain to this gentleman who was very rude and had no sense of what a good customer service looks like. He was shouting at me after I paid exorbitantly for this horrible food. I requested to speak to the manager or someone in charge. He stated that I could not speak to anyone else except him. I could not believe the carefree attitude. I personally would not own a business and act that way. Please avoid if you can.

I ordered a vegetable Pathia curry. I was shocked when it arrived. It was just a dish containing a curry sauce with chopped onions! There was no vegetables! I had to send it back to the kitchen. The waiter offered a vegetable korma instead. This time there was 1 sliced carrot, 2 sliced mushrooms and the rest was potatoes!!! My partner had the mixed grill. It was so salty and the chicken was like rubber! We left the food as it was impossible to eat such poor food.

Very cold almost hostile welcome they really didn't want our custom. The waiter was rude and dismissive he took our order with bad attitude. We asked for a jug of water which was brought to our table in tatty plastic jug and was luke warm when we asked for ice it was frowned upon. When the starter came it was very salty to the point of being inedible. When I told the waiter he said its not salty it's the food colouring that imitates salt we chose to take away our main course and the effects it has had on our digestive system is disgusting. Absolutely foul disgusting flatulence and disregarding the old standing joke from Indian curry food this was absolutely gross. As this is the only sit down Indian restaurant in our area we have used it many times with varying degrees of dissatisfaction but I will never purchase food from here again

Really disappointed. This WAS one of our favourite local sit downs as its only a few minutes walk from us and use it regularly. Went un tonight to fund it has new owners. They don't serve any alcohol at all, we were told that we could go to the shop and bring our own in butvits not the same. Nothing like a cold pint of cobra with your food as it was. We won't be using Tamarind Maindee again. I think your clientel list will drop rapidly. Such a Shame as we've had many a birthday party here 😔😪

Lovely food and a nice quick service

The chef(Shelim) cook very delicious food. I know him from a very long time. A nice gentleman and his cooking is just awesome 👌.

Food was tasteless and bland, mushroom rice was watery and curry was massively lacking flavour! Will not order from here again!! £30 down the drain and still a full plate of curry and rice to go in the bin. Would NOT recommend.

This is the worse meal I have ever had !! I have used you for years !! most weekends I have spent over £25. With you ! I complained and was offered 10% discount absolute joke ! If this is not sorted with the manager I will be very disappointed and will be using a different take away and you know there are plenty out there. As I can see loyalty goes know were !!

I was told I would have to collect my order, I said 'No thanks' and left it. Wife had a go at me, so, rang back and said 'Fine, we will collect the order' (she had not yet had a drink) - And, thank God! Food - absolutely beautiful. everything, not just the bits that usually make it acceptable, I mean everything; rice, bhajis (mushroom, bombay, onion) the Chicken Tikka Korma, the somosas, even the damn poppodoms were the lightest crispiest things I have had since moving from the Southall (West London) area six years ago, everything was awesome. When these guys work out delivery of this high quality Take-away food, half the Indian food outlets in Newport are going to go out of business. Guys, keep up this level of excellence - you are going to be HUGE!! I can't wait to come and eat your dishes fresh, in the restaurant. Don't let me down guys. Well done.

We booked a table at this restaurant to celebrate the 80th birthday of my husband. We were made most welcome from the outset the service and attention to detail were exemplary and Ahmed and his staff joined us by singing Happy birthday. We came as customers and left as friends see you all again very soon

Had my starter and poppadoms in the restaurant with chutney tray my shami kebab was very salty then asked for my main course to take away. When I got home the main course curry sauce was barely a half portion just a very small amount in the tray very disappointed

Had mixed kebab starter, meat was good quality, but so oversalted as to be unpleasant. Had chicken tikka biryani as a main..not like any other biryani sauce I've had..usually its a choice between a plain curry sauce or a vegetable Curry sauce....this was a dreadful bright red food colouring slop, sweet and unpleasant. Wont be going back.

The waiter yesterday was very rude and miserable. Very pitty also didn’t listen to my instructions. I wanted Naga in my curry which wasn’t their. The food is decent and the portion is decent. Shame about the unwelcoming front of house. I have Food blog on Instagram and will be uploading this restaurant on my blog. This restaurant has potential to be the best restaurant.

Tastes most genuine and masterful. The Moharaja biryani was especially tasty. The entire experience was top notch!

Worst restaurant ever....such rude staff! Actually it was the manager....his attitude stinks. He told us 'there's the door you can leave' cause we asked for a drink they didn't have. Who speaks this way to their customers? Empty restaurant anyway, would have thought he could have done with the £400 we spent in the restaurant we went to in the end.

Ideal location amongst a few local pubs, I have eaten in and ordered a take away and both have been fantastic. It’s worth noting on a Sunday ( possibly other dates also ) they offer a 5 course sit down meal for £9.99 per person. Always polite and never mess you around with deliveries.

1st time going to the reasturant, loved the warm atmosphere and te food was great!

This was only our second order after the 1st was very nice. We placed the order at 7:25PM and waited until just before 9pm for it to arrive. The delivery chap did say they were very busy which was fair enough but a quick phonecall isn't difficult either. As we were dining with our children we plated up what was a warm at best meal, and found that the Rogan Naan ordered was a Peshwari Naan (I don't like sweet coconut flavoured Naans) So I gave that to the wife to nibble on. The Keema naan was 90% naan 10% keema. I ordered the Bengal Fish Curry as this sounded quite special and cost a whopping £10.95, now while it tasted nice the 8 prawns swimming in the sauce was a huge disappointment as I'd have hoped for a little content for that much money and now with no Naan bread to mop up the sauce I was left with a bowl of curry sauce for my trouble. As it was so late and the children where tired I decided that it would be a bad idea to contact them and possibly wait until 10-11PM for a replacement meal and deal with it the day after. Tamarind refused to believe they sent the wrong naan and refused a refund which was the only feed back given by curries online which I also felt was poor.

I'm not 1 for leaving reviews but got to be said it never had a bad meal from here food is always hot&delicious and delivery is fast 10/10,2night I ordered a special kebab starter,chicken pakora,coconut rice and korma sauce with nan bread and it was by far the best Indian takeaway I've ever had and as for the special kebab that was bloody beautiful 💯👌 well done guys
