Food first rate. Delicious mackrel starter, the best lamb I've had in ages, and LOVED the apple and blackberry pie too. Service great too, all the staff very attentive and helpful. Had such a lovely evening that we went back a day later (early eve) just for a drink. Didn't have a dinner reservation and they were fully booked, and yet they came over to say that could squeeze us in with a table after 8.30pm. Delighted we got to eat there twice during our weekend away, so could try more on the menu. Would definitely recommend!

Went with friends for an evening meal. Good place to go if you are on a diet….very suprised that the portions are SO small. We had to check if our mains were in fact (very) small plates. Why would a chef serve up such measley portions. Short on seasoning too. No comparison to sister pub ‘The Pheasant’. Nice staff and surroundings, but sad to say, the lovely menu ended up being dissapointingly presented. On the plus side we had a good laugh about it on the way to the chip shop afterwards!

Steak (rare) and lamb rump were cooked to perfection. I don't normally order steak out as most places can't cook them right. I don't tend to like lamb but tried my partners, it melted in your mouth and I would consider ordering it in the future. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

Superb food. Quality, not just quantity! We all had something different and all of us were delighted with our choices. The combinations of flavours and textures were perfect. Also reasonably priced. Friendly informal atmosphere. One slight hiccup; the waitresses need more training. Plates should not be served by reaching across another customer and more attention is needed to customers needs so they don't keep having to walk to the bar. Otherwise a Michelin star experience! Well done.and thank you.

Very capable cooking and top quality ingredients are used in every dish. A most unprepossessing building, with eclectic furnishings, efficient service, the food is definitely gourmet and the price reflects that, three courses plus coffee and a white wine spritzer will set you back fifty pounds per person . However it is all delicious, and a dining delight..Very tricky and narrow lanes which are potholed to reach this gastronomic establishment.

The welcome was bright and cheerful, the food was first class and the Chef even came put to add a smile to proceedings. It is obviously a popular venue and I am not surprised. The only issue would be access down the country lanes and rather limited parking but nothing that the Tally Ho can do about that. We would all still go again because it is well worth the extra effort to experience charm and well cooked and presented food.

Hidden in deep, deep Shropshire in a beautiful rural setting and well off the beaten path, it’s really worth the effort down the windy narrow lanes and roads to get here, but it’s very much worth it.Inside it’s traditional country pub - dark wood, country styling and plenty of character and items of interest. The garden if you can sit outside is exceptional - the views over open Shropshire countryside and elevated tree views with plenty of mooing from the cattle are wonderful. The garden is a decent size too.We ordered meals for 4 and they were all excellent quality and proportions. Drinks choice is also good.My own tip to the owners is to tidy up a little outside before opening - remove ashtrays, empty bin, put out a dog bowl for water.Overall a lovely afternoon and a great pub!

We have been several times and it’s local so we keep going back as it’s a stunning location. Alas, each time we’ve been we have felt we are an inconvenience to the landlord. There is never a full menu and never enough steaks! The landlord and his partner seem to be always having a drink with regular locals, presumably, and not very interested in customers. People, who pop in for food, are constantly turned away, even though the pub is empty. We shall never go again whilst it’s under the current management. We generally felt uncomfortable all night, like they could not wait for us to leave. Even getting a coffee was too much trouble! Additionally, food portions were small and very bland! Sad and extremely disappointing! I don’t think the managers like people much!

Went here for a mothers day lunchtime meal. We've been here a couple of times before to eat and found the food and service good. The mothers day visit wasn't good........... it was fantastic. There appeared to be only 2 people cooking, serving drinks, waiting on tables etc. Never the less they carried it off splendidly. There were no long waits between courses, drinks were replenished straight away and nothing was to much to satisfy our parties wants. We eat out at least once a week, sometimes more and visit lots of different restaurants and I can't remember eating a better roast dinner as I did at the Tally Ho. Some might complain about the limited menu choice. We are of the opinion that by doing it this way the food offered to diners was exceptional and tasted first class. Well done Tally Ho, keep it up.

Didn't know what to make of it but the pub had been recommended to us so we stayed. It's a nice pub although it was a little chilly unless you sat right up close to the log fire.I ordered the southern fried chicken burger and my boyfriend went for the 8oz rump (which he swore was sirloin but of course didn't complain!) and we both enjoyed our meals. It was well cooked and came quickly. The waitress told us that it usually gets busy 19:00-19:30 and sure enough people started to come through the door!Would be happy to go there again.

Called here on the off chance of getting a traditional sunday lunch on new years day. Only to find it was fully booked, however we weren't turned away but offered alternatives. We tucked into some delicious steaks and a creamy risotto. Accompanied by a good selection of local ales. Very impressed, great service. Many thanks. Will definitely return.

I had lunch here with some friends and was very pleased with the warm welcome, the great friendly service and above all the quality of the food. There was some confusion over our main courses as we believe we ordered 3 fish pies and one fish platter but we were given 2 of each which wasn't a major problem for us. However, when we paid the bill one of the fish platters had been ordered amen of the bill which when you consider we still ate it was very good. Thoroughly recommended.

Visited recently on a Wednesday evening, great atmosphere and warm welcome. A group of us booked a table, I ordered steak which was of excellent quality and cooked perfectly, best steak in England without question! The beer & wine complemented the food all served to make your visit special. One of those rare gems, I would highly recommend the Tally Ho Pub, warm friendly atmosphere the perfect place to unwind and meet new friends...

I decided to take advantage of their very favourable "stop the clock steak night" offer and had the sirloin. One of the best steaks I have had for many years, beautifully cooked, the chips were great and the whole hot meal was very enjoyable. I finished it off with apple pie and custard, along with a pint of Hobsons Mild. What a lovely way to spend an evening. Friendly staff and a cosy log burning fire - perfect. My dog enjoyed laying at my feet as well.

Well off the beaten track but well worth beating a track to.I am staying not far away and thought I would try the steak night that I noticed advertised as I drove past.It was delicious, perfectly cooked and perfectly accompanied by one of the four real ales they had on draught and a glorious sunset. All provided, apart from the sunset, by a very welcoming and friendly couple behind the bar.Well worth a visit if you are in the area, and also if you are not in the area.

After previous visits that were met with unfriendly hosts my family and I had stopped visiting the Tally Ho. We popped back in on the off chance on a Sunday afternoon after shopping and were met with a wonderful atmosphere and a very friendly face behind the bar. Best thing we did. The menu had been changed and prices reduced with a fantastic Tuesday to Thursday stop the clock steak night. You pay the price thats on the clock when you order it so 7.00pm you pay £7.00, 7.15pm you pay £7.15. The steak is cooked with love and it melts in your mouth. Needless to say we are now booked weekly until the end of the year. I can't speak highly enough of the Tally Ho. The hosts Emma and Steve have made a huge difference so thank you for making the Tally Ho my second home again

Visited with family during the week for dinner. Food was excellent. I had the special of the day (Pene Vodka). The chef recommended it and I was not disappointed. The service was also very good. Definitely would recommend. It is worth a visit if you are in the area!

We had our works Christmas do here for 30+ people and we stayed the night. Front of house staff were lovely and welcoming, but that is all I can really say nice about our stay. Our room was like something out of the 70/80s very twee and old-fashioned. Quilt cover had a rip in it. Bath looked old, faint smell of cigarette smoke. No soap, shower gel etc in the bathroom - to help save the planet apparently - you could request some at reception. We were woken about 6am by what I assume was some kind of water cistern behind one of the bedroom walls that sounded like a plane going over head. The party. Arrival time was stated as 7pm and most (about 180) turned up about then. We were all crowded into the bar which wasn't big enough and soon warmed up to a very uncomfortable temperature. They eventually let us in at 8pm. Drinks were astronomically expensive - £7.50 for a pint £8.20 for a Baileys or a large glass of wine (£25+ by the bottle) and £7.20 for a pint of coke!!!. The main course wasn't served until after 9pm and my beef was dry and tasteless, though others who had the turkey said it wasn't bad. And my Xmas pudding was dry too. All in all not somewhere I would ever go again and certainly don't know where it gets it 4 star rating from. I did voice most of my complaints to reception before leaving.

Have been coming here for over a year and their Panang curry is the best! Portion sizes are generous for price - we always have enough leftover for a good size meal the day following. Staff is friendly too

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.
