Tajdar in Arun

I organise a monthly Curry Club at Tajdar for locals in the village and we generally have 25 to 30 people attending. We always receive fantastic food served by the very attentive and considerate staff. We choose our food individually from the a la carte menu, so this imposes a huge workload on the kitchen team but they manage to cope with the food preparation without any undue delay. The chief Chef usually says 'hello' at the end of the meal and is always greeted with a round of applause for his considerable efforts.

Lovely atmosphere with brilliant, friendly, fast & efficient customer service and beautiful food! We will definitely come back.

This isn’t our first visit to Tajdar and there’s a reason for it, we came here this evening for my wife’s birthday. Very friendly staff, excellent service, superb food!!!

Biriyani was the best I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend. Very good selection of wines and beers. Anyone looking for a good curry, this is the place.

We come here every year on the same date to celebrate our anniversary, the food is exceptional and service staff are top class! Sohel served us that evening and he was amazing, so friendly and our little boy loved him! Picked up a delivery menu on our way out as we didn’t think they would delivery to us as we are located a fair distance away but he confirmed they would! Thank you for amazing food and customer service!

Haven’t visited for a while but the food was delicious and service was good. Only downside was no decaf coffee to finish.

If you are in the area, and want first class Indian food, go go go for Tajdar. Everything was superb from the welcome to the food to the overall feel of the place. Couldn't fault anything. The food was so tasty and plenty of it. Special mention to Sohel who was everything you would want from a front of house. Always smiling and so efficient. Highly recommended and I will return to enjoy again.

Fabulous staff! Enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. Free parking around the back which is a plus. The food is hot and delicious :) will be coming for the foreseeable futuree!

Having consumed a number of Chicken Shashlik during my 50 plus years on this planet I think I’m qualified to say that this was one of the best I’ve ever had, shame it’s over 3 hours away from home. The quality of the food was excellent , so tasty, perfectly cooked and well presented. I couldn’t recommend the food enough. I found the staff really welcoming and friendly and although it was near the end of the night the door was very much open. Thank you.

My prawns were overcooked so tasted really chewy but worse was the fact that the chicken served in my friend’s curry appeared to be ‘reformed’ meat. Looks like it was mixed with lumps of real chicken breast to disguise it. Sliced through one of the lumps & it had a texture smooth like cheese & was a bit rubbery. You expect that in a cheap ready meal but not at a restaurant.

We were staying locally and had two deliveries whilst we were there. Both were delivered on time by friendly drivers. The food was delicious, good prices can't fault it especially as we had a delivery on new years day evening in exceptionally bad weather.

This place had a few teething problems a while back, not going to lie. But it's back on track. As with anywhere, you may get the odd hiccup, but have been visiting with friends on a monthly basis (and use for delivery take outs too), and it's been spot on. Prices are still sensible, and food tastes great. Staff have been lovely. Certainly recommend, and it's our goto Indian, and we're not even local.

What a lovely place to go for an Indian meal. They do take away & delivery so no excuse to miss out.

This used to me one of the best Indian restaurants in Sussex but with various changes in ownership the quality has gone downhill. No changes have been made to the decor in years and they still retain the same menu, which is fine but unexciting. The food is now OK, but absolutely nothing would justify visiting for a special occasion or for a particular dish. The service however was still of a good standard.

I reviewed this restaurant in 2015. It was very good then. It has recently been taken over but retains it's name and most of its original menu. The food choice and quality is still very good and the service has improved from 2018 (prior to the change of ownership). My wife & I still dine here or take away on a fairly regular basis. Their new system allows bookings and orders to be made on line as well as by telephone plus discounts for collected take-aways of parties of 8 or more guests. On this occasion I took my family and we were all content with the whole experience; food choice, quality, drinks and service. I can recommend the Tajdar Special which has 2 full chicken breasts in a very tasty sauce that is not too hot, plus the accompaniments of course.

We enjoy authentic curry dishes but were very disappointed at the quality of food served, but didn't have the heart to complain as the service was good. We were told Tajdar is under new management, but perhaps the menu also needs a makeover. Tasteless chicken in bland sauce with little flavour. The only thing we really enjoyed was the draught Indian beer. We will not return.

On arrival ordered drinks to get a warm lemonade which was flat and poppadoms were stale , food order was taken at 5:45. An hour later still no food and staff were poor and didn’t seem to care , so we left. Wouldn’t recommend it

Further to my last disastrous trip, I decided that as 6 months had passed I would give it another go. I ordered a chicken Gorchi with Mushroom rice, some popadoms and a peshwari naan to take away. This time, at least, the food was waiting for me when I arrived. I paid and went. On arriving home I ate my popadoms and then openend my Gorchi only to find a Dansak. I'm not very fond of this dish, but this one in particular was over-sweet and had little other flavour. I phoned to complain, and pointed out that I hadn't got what I ordered and that a dansak is actually cheaper than the gorchi I had paid for. I was told "sorry about that but next time I'll charge you for a dansak if you order a gorchi." Wow! I can't say that that helped, and I said "No you won't as there will not be a next time." And there won't
