bland tasteless food went straight in bin would not use again total waste of money! this was a delivery.

Turned up to pick up takeaway..could see into kitchen hygiene unbelievable chefs coughing sneezing handling food..saw food falling on floor which was scooped up with bare hands and put back into containers for delivery...demanded money back and walked out....

Just spent £46.00 on a takeaway from Taj Mahal. Quoted 45 minutes for delivery, arrived an hour and a half later. Have used this restaurant many time before and been moderately happy. This time I could not believe what we got for £46. The curries were half the size they use to be. Wishy washy sauce no flavour. Undercooked nan bread. I called the restaurant and spoke the the manager ask why such a difference, he was TOTALLY DISINTERESTED, quoting “This is the way we do it now”. We will never go there again and recommend you never go there. Smallest curry portions in the Basildon area I would question.

I haven’t eaten in the restaurant but we do have take away. The food is always amazing!!! The staff are very friendly. Always happy to help special requests. Highly recommended. I don’t know what the delivery service is like as we have always collected and you do get a discount for collection. Food is always hot.

Been using this Indian resturant for 10 years can not fault. Have take away at least 2 x per month. People and service great.

Bellow par and won't be coming back due to food being bellow average and dated decor and front of house . Went there on a Sunday for the budget menu ,starter main and a side order. To be disappointed with a very quiet service just after 6pm. Toilets in need of an update ,mirror was imposing when sitting for a meal . Whilst waiting for my meal I went out to look over the balcony outside and found the kitchen door open to see a very small and to be honest untidy kitchen using old ice cream boxes and reused packaging from tins of tomatoes as an ash tray bin along with front of house eating in the kitchen . The food was bland but I am used to Indian/West Asian food and I'm used to fresh herbs and spices alongside vibrant colours and the use of real saffron unlike the multi coloured rice on the menu. The only reason as to why I didn't give it a 1 star is purely as the guys managing probably didn't know any better and it was probably a decent restaurant in the past and you could tell that .

We have used this restaurant for 20 years on and off. Recently we've ordered takeaway. Always order direct from them as the 3rd party websites add commission. The service is fantastic and the guy on the counter always uses my first name which I think is really nice and personal. The food is really the best, so tasty and good quality, always hot. We often have our usual favourites but recently have been order the chefs special dishes and so far all have been really tasty. Can definitely recommend this place to eat in or takeaway

Love this place food is always very tasty and hot, the staff are very friendly and attentive nothing is too much trouble, it may not be best looking place but don't judge a book by its cover as food is lovely would recommend people give it a try.

We have always found the food here brilliant and we do not mind paying a little extra for good food, after tonight’s takeaway we will be going elsewhere, every time we order food we are told we have an old menu and the cost has gone up, tonight we purchased Bhuna special, lamb tikka masala, 2 keema nans and an extra pot of Bhuna sauce the price was £27.40 for a takeaway for 2 people I think this is just too much! Plus the tip for the delivery driver it would probably be cheaper to go to another Indian restaurant and eat in! Sorry Taj Mahal you have got greedy!

Went for a meal last night with friends as usual the service was brilliant the feed was lovely as usual nothing is too much trouble people seem to overlook this place i know it is old style and you take your own drinks but who cares give it a go have eaten there many times so give it a go.

We have previously ordered Indian food from here and it has always been lovely. Even though we have moved out of the area we ordered a meal again but it was horrible so we will NEVER eat from this restaurant again. The food was cold, the rice was very dry, the korma was watery and cold, the onion Bhaji was dry and they never provided the onion salad mix or any sauce which has always been part of the set meal. It seems the standard of their food has definitely gone down and they have lost a customer.

Had food delivered. The meal arrived in good time and piping hot. The curry was very nice as was the sides and starters. As it was near to new years eve they also gave us a desk calender and a pen which was a nice touch.

Visited this restaurant a while ago. Very good food and service. Waiters very friendly and attentive

Most discusting vile Indian I've had in my life.!! Curry was watery and no taste at all tasted like I had spilt water all over my dinner onion barges didn't tast of anything and made me feel sick.. I will never eat here again I love Indian but this has put me off for life..

I have been here many times now and, frankly, it is my go to place for Indian food, either eating out or ordering in. The food is reasonably priced and extremely good

ordered a couple of curries on a friday eve. arrived quickly and piping hot. we have also eaten in the restaurant before and has also been nice. staff always friendly. Prices are average.

people are very rude in this hotel. The food is not tasty and spoiling the indian name literally. it is very costly and people are very rude and they won't ask to take the plate just they will come and take the plate without asking.

Fantastic great food ordered at 5pm delivered 35 mins later and it was delicious, hot. I ordered korma, masala, pompadoms, rice, naans, Bombay pots it cost just a little over £26, but I think it was great value for money will deffo be ordering from here again

"Under new management : Half price on takeaways" said the flyer, what's not to like about that? OK, it was a short term offer and you've missed it, but I gave it a go on your behalf.

Under new management. OMG do NOT go here, its depressing "trust me" rubber nan bread, oily curry & an unshaven waiter who really don't know what day of the week it is.
