Tabure in St Albans

Everything was amazing! Very user friendly to Gluten issues. Favorite was the Hummus and aubergine. Ask for Gul, she is also Amazing!

Our waitress was perfect...warm, friendly, not pushy and gave great recommendations from the menu and quantities for our group of 5. Excellent choice for vegetarians which is a bonus!

Honestly some of the most delicious food I've ever eaten, the truffle humus was to die for and the lamb risotto was glorious! Friendly service, we got left alone a lot which I appreciate

If you like to be disappointed, you are welcome there. The good things are the atmosphere and the manager. The food wasn't good. In that case it was good that it was in such a small portion. The wine was a really cheap one.

Great food but terrible service also tables are too close together and not enough space on table to put more than 2 dishes water bottle and wine glasses.

Such an unbelievable dinner at Tabure - small portions but beautifully done. Highly recommend the beef kofte, chicken thighs and roasted cauliflower and babaganoush! Drinks were also very reasonably priced and service was very attentive and helpful for recommendations. Would highly recommend to anyone!

This place is only for people which recognise and appreciate the quality. I am very impressed with the overall experience, flavour's of the food are poetic. Interior is designed to cherish your eyes in the same time. Definitely will be going back there and recommending this place to everyone !

Brilliant service and delicious food. We wanted a restaurant where the service for a table of 8 would be good and the atmosphere relaxed, Tabure provided exactly that, everyone had a great evening.

Fantastic evening. Food was delicious. Service was excellent and a special thank you to Gul and Handam who were so friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening thanks to them both.

We were very careful to research times before coming out. Both Google and THE DOOR of the restaurant say “Sundays - closed 22:00”. We arrived at 20:44 to be told by a very unfriendly staff member that they were closed. Apparently, the kitchen closes 90 minutes before close (at a restaurant??) which is ridiculous.

If you're tired of the usual Turkish fare, this restaurant is for you. The recipes are absolutely amazing, and really bring out anatolian flavours that you can't find elsewhere. Add some very courteous service and a warm atmosphere and you can't fault this place.

Tabure offers something quite unique, the cuisine is a cross between Turkish, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, with hints of British flavours and all encompassed in a relaxed, fine-dining environment. Particular highlights were the Aubergine Kumpir, Sultan's Risotto and the Cyprus Potatoes. Exceptional food and presentation, however, the jewel in the crown, really is the service and that, from the manager, Gul. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome as we were celebrating a special occasion and nothing was a problem for her and her team; she even looked after our daughter and kept her busy/entertained! Very much look forward to coming back and trying the rest of what the menu has to offer and meeting the team once again. Our only regret is that we did not find Tabure any sooner.

A lovely dining experience. The yummiest 3 dip starter I have ever had! The portions are not the biggest sp order tapas style. I wish the risotto was with risotto rice and not bulgur. The prawns and fish were divine.

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in St Albans. Food- So tasty, original and filling! Lots of options for vegans/veggies but also meat eaters. Service- Exceptional, so professional and welcoming, very relaxed. Drinks- Cocktails were really good! We were visiting family from London and will come here again when we return!

The reason for low stars is , they accept a booking , made on the day , but don’t tell you that it’s not a TABLE booking but a seat around a plastic barrier that is the kitchen , I don’t want to eat a meal at a bar type seating and look at the chef ! I cook enough during the week . If you can’t give someone a table please say on booking that it’s for the kitchen VIEW ! Unfortunately we had to walk out

Incredible cuisine and service. Easily my favourite restaurant in St Albans and superb for vegetarians. Eclectic flavours fused together with tremendous heart and soul. High quality ingredients and twists on recognizable dishes through which they have upped the ante. Wonderful team who have always been incredibly hospitable and warm whenever we have been - they even remembered some of our prior conversations after a couple months of not having visited - a mark of people who care and that are genuine. Many thanks and recognition should go to the host manager, Gul, and those who took us on the culinary journey Agil and Milena, to name a few. Standout dishes: Fava bean hummus (gorgeous freshly baked pita) Labneh Aubergine kumpir (surprisingly delicious) Cyprus potatoes (what superb and technically outstanding potatoes!)

Menu with complex flavors. Modern revisitation of Turkish cuisine. Fabulous. Two negative notes: for that price I expected at least tablecloths, in European and Mediterranean style. Not the unhygienic British one where the cutlery is placed directly on the table. Furthermore, if they make you eat at the counter in front of the chef who prepares the dishes, they should reduce the price.

Went as a group of four and had a great meal, lots of different meals and all said their meal was fabulous. Service was terrific even though they were short staffed that night, hats off to them as they made the evening special.

Came here for a meal of small plates and sides, a bit like tapas. The aubergine is an absolute must, and the truffle mushroom feta dish blew me away it was so flavourful. Their Aegean mess and helva chocolate brownie desserts also hit the spot in a major way. Staff were super helpful in helping us choose dishes and really attentive whilst still giving us a relaxed eating experience. Having a grill in view of the dining area is a great plus. It fills the whole place with some amazing aromas. All in all we had such a good experience here and would fully recommend it to any avid foodie.

Absolutely top notch night out. From the incredible service by one of the family (thanks for all the recommendations!), to the amazing wine and cocktails. Then the food, just incredible. All served to us right in front of the charcoal grill. Some of the best Turkish food I’ve had in memory. Highlights were the butternut squash and the halloumi. But also every dish we ate was incredibly cooked. The chef on the charcoal grill was an absolute master. Couldn’t fault a single part, will be back again asap!

Food pretty good but service not great. One of the managers here is rude, defensive and has that special skill of making customers feel like they are nothing but an inconvenience. I don’t understand such hostile behaviour from a person in a customer facing role. Left feeling patronised and mortified by her behaviour towards our family, because I had chosen the restaurant. I won’t be returning to the St Albans branch.

Delicious and innovative food. We particularly enjoyed the quince halloumi, and dill artichokes. A beautiful setting and attentive service made for an excellent dining experience, thank you!

A really good restorant to try when you are in St. Albans

We had a long-standing booking at the restaurant for Friday 14th July, we had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances at around midday. I left a telephone message as no one was available to take the call. Today I noticed a charge of £40 on my card from Tabure even though I had called to cancel, I appreciate the charge if I had not contacted them. This is somewhat unreasonable and will dispute the card with my credit card company

Came here for saturday lunch for the first time. Delicious food. We had three dips served with lovely soft bread. Artichoke small plates were delicious. Beef kofta was full of flavour and seafood orzo main very tasty. Excellent

The service was good and the atmosphere was all right, the seats by the grill lack a bit but overall was ok. The food however was not really what I expected. The kofte’s texture felt a bit hard and too compacted, with a strange mixture of herbs and didn’t remind the ones I’ve had in the past. We also had a stake that, although was not done medium as requested, but rather rare, it was quite good. The sides & starters were again nothing impressive.

Well, have always loved it here, haven’t been for a while, but wow!! Ambience, service and food absolutely amazing!! I have just got home from a meal there tonight and wanted to write a review !! You have to go, Simples !! We had, House Dips & Halloumi for starters. The. The organic chicken Adana for main with Butternut Squash and Spinach sides followed by a dessert wine and the Aegean mess for dessert, all delicious!!!! Plus 2 drink to start, a bottle of wine, all for a very reasonable price !!

Absolute gem of a restaurant! We had excellent service from the moment we walked in and the staff were very helpful with my wife's allergies. We ordered the truffle hummus, the artichoke, the chicken thighs and the potato salad. All were delicious. You won't experience these flavours in many other restaurants! We will be returning

Lunch time. -Food and service are really good. -Plenty vegeterian options. No words for the vegeterian dish, all perfect and taste fresh. If you are vegeterian you should try this place.

If I could give 6 stars I would! We celebrated our wedding reception here at Tabure in June - and Gul (restaurant manager) made it so stress free, and so so special. I can highly recommend group dinners here, there’s something for everyone, and the food is out of this world. We’re big foodies - and everyone was impressed… which rarely happens in restaurants for us! Thank you so much to Gul & the team who made our day so wonderful. Can’t wait to come back… I’m still dreaming about the artichokes! 🤤

This place is trying to tackle some misconceptions about Turkish cuisine. You cannot find classic kebab dishes that are usually being served outside Turkiye. They serve some traditional Turkish dishes with a modern twist. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is very friendly. They have vegetarian options and some safe options for those who don’t feel adventurous. I was told certain parts of the menu keeps changing. I’ll certainly come back to try different dishes.

Good middle eastern cuisine. All dishes taste good. Had sirloin steak, cod, seafood rice as main. Aubergine, humus and Artichoke for starters. Butternut squash as sides. All well prepared and tasted wonderful.

We've been regulars at Tabure and on our latest visit, our fourth I think, we were pleased that the standard has moved a little higher compared to before. For those who have never been here, Tabure is nothing like your average Turkish restaurant. The cuisine is delicate and the cooking is sophisticated and progressive. The vine-wrapped sea bream is always my favourite dish of theirs - it's something I've never had elsewhere - cooked to perfection - just so unusual and lovely. If there's a slight negative at Tabure it's with the service where there's a feeling that they're trying hard to push you to order certain dishes and/or that they're trying to push you to order quite a lot. Yes they're busy and they need to maximise each service, but it's not a great long term strategy. I would suggest resisting such pressures and just ordering only what you want but in any case the food speaks for itself.

Tabure is a fantastic, family-run restaurant with something for everyone. While more expensive than some higher end chains nearby, the value for money is manifest in great ingredients, curated and balanced dishes cooked excellently, and good Mediterranean wines. Whenever I'm in St. Albans, it will be my first choice for dinner.

This is the third local Turkish restaurant we have been to in the last two weeks and am happy to report that Tabure comes out top. Greeted by Gul on arrival we were immeadiately made to feel welcome, an emotion thatcontinued throught our meal. Gul helped with our selection, recommended the wine, which was a good choice. We had the house meze dips to start, all three very tasty and sensible proportions. We then shared the lamb tower, an extreamly tasty dish although the lamb was on the tough side but very edible, just slightly overcooked for my taste. We also had the tuna tartar and a side portionof rice, again highly recommended. Gul then convinedd my wife to try their Baclava, which I was forced to try (sic) and very glad I did. To finnish we had probably the tastyest fresh mint tea ever. We have been here before some years ago and will certainly not leave it so long before returning again. Thank you Gul and the team at Tabure St Albans.

Amazing experience - We weren't sure what to order as it's food we are not familiar with but everything we had was delicious. My advise is to leave space for dessert! Lovely service and good atmosphere- a real hidden gem of a restaurant.

Lovely restaurant tucked away just off the main shopping areas in St. Albans. The menu didn't feature as many vegetarian options as I would have liked. The dishes we did get were authentic and well cooked, but some lacked in flavour, and didn't really justify the prices. Worth checking out, but somewhere I won't be rushing back to eat at again.

We had another marvellous meal here on Saturday evening. We had the artichoke and mixed dips to start and it was all very tasty and good sized portions. For our main course, we had the pulled lamb, beef kofte, prawns and tuna tartare with a chickpea stew. All the dishes were delicious and the Turkish house wine was the perfect complement. What made our evening was being served by the owner, who shared her passion for the food and entertained us with anecdotes about the menu. A delightful evening and highly recommended.

The food quality is so good. The tapas style allows to pick a lot of options and try on a sharing basis. The price is also quite reasonable. Very friendly staff. Great ambience. Really enjoyed an impromptu evening.

We went here for “date night” having been before and loved the food! Difference is we sat in front of the chef! Great we thought best seat in the house! Anyway, we proceeded to order food as a start and some wine, next thing you can see the chef cooking chicken and beef with the vegetables that claim dishes are vegetarian (we are vegetarian) anyway we realised we couldn’t eat some stuff on the menu so we just had the starters, wine and a pudding. At the end I asked to speak to the manager, she came over 5 mins later and said what’s the issue. I told her that you can’t really claim some of your dishes are vegetarian when they are cooked on the same griddle as the chicken and beef. Her response was abrupt and rude and said “everyone does it” and she said it wasn’t her problem. I told her I had video evidence of this and you can’t claim dishes are vegetarian- she was very rude and walked off. At the end of the day I know my stuff and if she apologised rather than come at me with an attitude I would’ve left it, but her management style was so bad. I spoke to a number of people and they said sorry about her. We came back because we loved the place and unfortunately due to her attitude we will not be coming back! She is a manager who is unable to deal with a complaint or customers, happy to discuss more on the phone with the owners. Then we asked for the bill - the lovely wait staff brought it over I asked for the card machine and she came over grabbed the receipt and said if you are not happy get out.. Thanks for ruining date night Gul! Would like to talk this through with REAL management and an adult who can have a conversation.

I am very picky about restaurants and places I choose to eat.This place is probably best in St Albans. Cosy atmosphere and extremely delicious food.

Consistently excellent. I’ve been 4 or 5 times now, and it never lets me down. Very good food, attentive service and tasty drinks. Great place for groups of all kinds and a much needed quality restaurant in St Albans.

First time going here was fine, good food and service. The second time was not! All the dishes were overcooked and the steak was extremely fatty and tasteless! So in this case we decided to complain to the manager, who in return was very rude! He told us he did not have time for our complaint and could not understand the problem etc... End result, a measley £10 refund on a £76.00 food bill. Sadly I can no longer recommend this restuarant.

Overall good experience! Food was tasty and service was quick and friendly. The only real issue was that the room was a bit cold in January. Would recommend. The hummus tasted amazing!

Delicious köfte! I have literally asked to repeat after finishing the portion. Also, enjoyed watching how skillfully the chef grills meat dishes. It is one of the best Turkish restaurants I have been to. Literally, a highlight of the last trip to London surroundings.

Over priced food both in terms of size and presentation and left the restaurant hungry as the main dish came in extremely small portions. Standards do not even come close to your typical Turkish restaurant. Very bad value for money.

Incredibly overpriced. Food tasted ok, but portions were ridiculously small and lacking. Menu’s were misleading and detailed far more food than received. Service was polite and adequate, but slow and could have been more attentive. Not impressed

Amazing fresh food at a very relaxed and cozy place, with excellent service and great value for money.

We were staying in Harpenden with work and I kept thinking, Oh must try there soon, I left it until the last night, huge mistake. The food is amazingly good and I so wish I could have had the time to go again. Everything was incredible, the starters, the bread, the prawns especially, the hot chilli starter! and the Baklava is a keeper. My mouth is literally drooling as I think of that meal.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service!! Called up the restaurant before going because it was rather close to closing time. The person on the phone said it’s okay and we’ll be served. We take a 25 mins journey only to be turned away at the door. The staff and the manager tell us that the kitchen is closed. When I confront them about their promise on the phone they act as if they never received any calls! They even tried to tell us that we called a different branch. So I showed them the call log and their response was no we didn’t receive a call. Never in my life have I been treated in such manner by restaurant staff.

First time back since Covid. The four of us really enjoyed ourselves. The food was excellent, fresh and original. The staff were smart, professional, attentive, helpful and friendly. The space is well designed and the decor is tasteful. Perfect. Well done. Back soon!

Absolutely delicious Turkish food, my absolute fave. Would recommend sharing a mix of starters and then having individual mains. The team catered to our party's various dietary requirements perfectly and everyone had an amazing meal. Would love to go back again if I'm ever in St Albans again!

The restaurant was nice but not worth a 4.7 rating. The service is very slow, the food is OK and overpriced for what it is. It's acceptable - nothing was wow.

I went to Tabure a few years ago and due to personal circumstances, had to take the food away and eat it cold which was not enjoyable at all. This is completely understandable and I do not blame the restaurant for this. On my return...

The food here is outstanding! The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend the chickpeas. If you're in st Alban's you should definitely come here
