Tabure in St Albans

Went for dinner with the family, to celebrate our son’s birthday. We have been going out o Tabure since my son was small and the hostess always recognises us. As it was my son’s birthday he was greeted with a free sparkling wine - he’s now 22! The food and service was excellent, as always. I always have the pulled lamb and barley risotto and it did not disappoint. There are so used to many fantastic dishes on the menu and all are fantastic. We finished off the meal with their homemade walnut baklava one of which was decorated with candles. Our hostess brought this out singing happy birthday to my son. Overall a fantastic memorable evening.

Amazing food and outstanding service. Different from your standard turkish, but in a good way. Gul was attentive and made sure we were looked after.

Great atmosphere and ambiance, delicious food. However, the waiters there are not experienced. One waitress couldn’t poor red wine into glasses, it looked like someone got stabbed at the table as wine was all over the place. She had to be rescued by her colleague who promptly fixed the situation. The other waitress, when cleaning up, spilled red wine all over my wife’s jacket. Safe to say we won’t be returning any time soon.

Wonderful 60 th birthday celebrations for 22 people. Everyone commented on the deliciousness of the food and service was faultless. Thanks to the whole team for a brilliant evening

Really delicious Roast Dinner, and in my case it is really difficult because it has to be gluten free. I had everything even the Yorkshire pudding and it was wonderful ... and those gratin potatoes seduced my heart. The atmosphere is really nice there. I will definitely come back. The only problem for me is that there is no children's menu

Our regular dinner place is Tabure. It is a fantastic spot for a casual meal or a special night out. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with standout dishes are the pulled lamb dish and the house dips - just delicious. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Tabure delivers a consistent, great dining experience. Highly recommended!

Really good Sunday roast dinner, would highly recommend.

Exquisite style and interior. Genuinely lovely staff and toddler friendly. And cater to a diverse spectrum of customers. Very lovely and was really excited to try the sunday roast. I had the roast beef. Beautiful presentation; delicious gravy and hearty Yorkshire pudding complimenting the veg. It could have arrived warm. That’s the only pity. Very filling and the wonderful interaction redeems them.

We had such a nice evening at Tabure!! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The manager Gul was outstanding and so welcoming!! Will be back soon !

Booked for early Valentine’s Day night at Tabure , The manager Gul was really friendly and helpful ✨ We had quite a few things to share and bottle of wine with Guls recommendation , which was great. So enjoyed it definitely be back thanks for having us ✨

Love this restaurant, the food has never disappointed. Ive been a few times now, and at least 3 times ive been, theres been confusion on our orders, multiple times weve had food put on our table, and then its been taken off our table to elsewhere - it has sometimes been the right food we ordered, but also been wrong food we ordered. But the food is bloody delish regardless

I made what I thought was a booking online (including leaving my card details) but when I arrived with my husband for dinner, there was no record of the booking. Frustrating on a Friday night but what was more frustrating was the appalling attitude of the manager who served us.,, she repeatedly pulled a face that might as well have said ‘are you an idiot?’ and proceeded to read out a list of names of everyone who was showing with a booking on her screen (none of which were even close to my name). When I said ‘fine we’ll go somewhere else’ she said ‘well you could sit at the bar’ and pulled the same ‘are you an idiot?’ face. Completely unhelpful and I definitely won’t be returning.

Amazing food, great service. It was packed when we went in there, though the service was spot on. They even accommodated a candle and a happy birthday. Definately recommend it.

Food was good, but we asked for the aegean mess as desert which was supposed to have peach, ingredients were changed and it had raspberry instead which overpowered the desert. Service was ok.

Have loved tabure for years. Food was still fab but when there are only two tables in the whole restaurant and there's next to nothing in the way of service, I can't help but feel disappointed. I don't expect to be waited on hand a foot. Just the basics. What a shame and possibly why it was so empty so close to Christmas.

Tabure catered an event we held on a Friday night, food was delicious as usual. Staff were very helpful and created a menu that all the various dietary requirements we had!

We had a marvellous dining experience. High quality produce that is expertly spiced and cooked, all served with a genuine smile and care. Will go back to try other dishes. Only thing to note is that the 'large dishes' are not large enough to share, so would probably need order once each.

Very much enjoyed our dinner at Tabure despite the presence of a very noisy table. Appreciated host's effort to seat us away from the group. Food was excellent, service attentive. Highly recommend!

Nice atmosphere and food is tasty. We loved the seasoning combinations! They promo 5-6 dishes per couple which can be too much. It would make more sense to us to say starters and mains rather than smaller and larger plates. Smaller plates at tabure look like generous starters and larger plates look like smaller mains! Requested to substitute one of the trio dips with another, only to get a big "NO"

We enjoyed restaurant standard food ( and service) for 13 people as takeaway. It was a special occasion and we wanted to relax and eat at home, but not have the hassle of cooking for a big and diverse group. Eddie and Gul took account of multiple needs (allergies especially) including suggesting ideas to tempt the children in the group. Everything was ready to collect as ordered and went straight to the table. The food was delicious and we look forward to eating in the restaurant in person again soon.

Fabulous food served to 9 of us. A lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. Good value for money on a special night out. Bread made freshly as were all dishes- well worth the small wait.

The restaurant looked fancy and the menu looked promising, but unfortunately the food didn't match the expectations. It tasted like the chef accidentally seasoned everything twice. It was borderline edible and we left some of the food, because it was too salty and oily for us to finish it. Both deserts we tried were good though.

Food and atmosphere are wonderful but service in this resturant is over and above. I always feel so well looked after when i visit, and it has become my fav place to go when celebrating. Thanks so much all! It is appreciated.

Expensive, but if you want a special treat and excellent Turkish tapas this is the place to go.

We were recommended this restaurant by some friends. We arrived at the restaurant and our initial greeting was good. Shown to the table, the head waiter explained how the menu worked, sharing dishes if you like or large plate for yourself. We ordered our food, when the dishes arrived the young waitress did not know what dishes she was serving us and took one of our plates and cutlery. The food was well presented and tasted delicious. When we asked for the bill it was literally thrown on the table and the young waitress just walked away. We had to ask the head waiter to pay. We informed him how the bill was presented to us and seemed very apologetic, however he returned very quickly with the card machine for us to pay. This let us feeling very disappointed with the service at this restaurant. I would NOT recommend this restaurant for the dining experience as there are many others restaurants with far better customer service. I really wanted to give this restaurant more stars but felt it was right to share our experience.

Hidden gem🌟with relaxed atmosphere🎶 Enjoyed a delicious tapas meal this evening with my girlfriend and her sister. Would recommend the prawns, the hummus, mushrooms with feta and the pan fried halloumi! The staff were friendly with good energy. Will come back some day!

Easily the best Turkish food I’ve had! Everything was so tasty and unique to try. Staff are very friendly (shout out to Abraham who has been great every time we’ve been), and while the price is high for St Albans restaurants, the quality of the food and drink fit the bill. If I had to critique, I’d say the view from the window is bad. A brick wall, commercial bins, and white flood lights aren’t particularly the vibe. Perhaps the restaurant will put up a curtain in the future (or may have done since I last went). Highly recommend!

The menu was clearly explained by the management, small plates, light bites and larger meals. The atmosphere was loud and noisy, everyone clearly enjoying an evening out. The bill was unexpectedly high.

I'm not sure how we've missed going to Tabure since it opened in St. Albans, but it's our loss. Great tasting food (my wife is now searching for their recipes online) and a friendly atmosphere made for a good night out with friends.

My wife and I visited Tabure last night. Expectations were high after my wife visited with friends a few weeks ago and said it was fantastic. It did not disappoint, the food was on point, atmosphere was great and all round a definite 5/5. My favourite dish was the Lamb tava. Perfect level of spiciness for me! There is plenty of the menu we didn’t try so we will be going back!!

I love this place, great food and service. Make sure you are cautious on what you order as the portion sizes are not massive but they don’t claim to be! It ends up being quite an expensive evening out but worth it!

How often do you get a perfect restaurant experience? Tabure delivered one for me and my family: a warm welcome that was heartfelt and authentic, ambiance that made us feel instantly comfortable, a menu that was diverse yet balanced with something for everyone, service that was friendly and attentive. And finally ....the food? Each plate was more delicious than the previous. Incredibly yummy and satisfying. When the bill came I was happy to pay because it was worth every single penny. When was the last time you experienced that in a restaurant?

Lovely food but unfortunately was left with a sour taste after they charged us £15 to bring in a cake for our mum’s birthday! They did not tell us at the time and only saw this later on the bill

First time eating here and I must say it was a pleasant experience. Gul the manager on duty is a credit to the establishment it felt like we got a private service from her and her wonderful team. The food is amazing and I will recommend.

We were due to come to the restaurant tonight but unfortunately one of the party was unwell and we cancelled by email at 2:11pm. No one acknowledged my email and the next thing I knew we had been charged £40 as a no-show fee. I called the restaurant to explain and I was completely dismissed by the lady who answered the phone boarding on rude. Didn’t want to listen to me at all and kept saying restaurant policy. Surely there should be some exemptions!!! Such a shame as it would have been our 2nd visit as we enjoyed it so much the first time thought we would come back. However after this I will certainly not be coming back again.

I booked this place few weeks ago, as our plan had changed so we had left message for cancel the booking one week ago.To my great surprise the restaurant charged us" no show" penalty. When I called them to challenge my unfair charge, the lady told me she did sent me email to ask me confirm our booking.But the truth is I NEVER receive any reminder by email to ask to confirm booking, otherwise I will definitely click it .Also we presume the restaurant already got our cancellation message.So it's really unfortunate for us to get 20 quid penalty charge .I'm sure the restaurant definitely filled up the slot that night.

Tasty food, friendly staffs and amazing atmosphere

We have eaten here on numerous occasions and always had a fantastic meal. The food is fresh, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. And the service is always top notch. Have to also give a mention to the manageress, Gul, who always takes the time to greet us and make sure that we are completely satisfied. Would highly recommend!

I usually doubt a place that’s almost 5*, however since visiting, I completely get it. The place is unbelievable, the aesthetics are just *chefs kiss*. On top of that the food is unbelievable. Between two of us we ordered one large plate, one small plate, one side and a bread and dip and it was absolutely enough. We also finished with a desert which I wish I could eat everyday. Every dish was presented well and tasted sublime. £70 for two people including a drink each and service. It’s definitely a more luxury place, but worth it for a treat.

Booked to have dinner here with friends who unfortunately had to cancel due to testing positive for COVID on the day of the meal. Contacted the restaurant by phone and email as soon as we were notified (6.5 hours before our table booking) stating we would rebook but nobody from the restaurant bothered to contact us. Within 30 mins of my email my credit card had been charged a £40 no show fee yet their terms and conditions state they will “only charge if no notice is given.” I called the restaurant back to complain and said we would try and find some other friends to come with us and still attend if they wouldn’t refund the money. The manager was supposed to call me back within 30 mins but never did. Very dishonest management with appalling customer service and no consideration for sudden illness. This restaurant would prefer people who are ill still attend rather than assist them in rebooking. We would definitely have rebooked once our friends were well again but now I wouldn’t give this restaurant water if they were on fire. Awful place. Stay well away.

Really lovely people who not only serve you but look after you. The food was absolutely wonderful, taste 12 out of 10 I had a Sunday Roast ( Chicken) . Cannot complement this Restaurant highly enough.

Our waitress was perfect...warm, friendly, not pushy and gave great recommendations from the menu and quantities for our group of 5. Excellent choice for vegetarians which is a bonus!

It was an extremely wet Tuesday night and the centre of St. Albans was deserted, so we were relieved to see a decent number of diners at Tabure on arrival. There is a nice ambience at this spacious restaurant, with its subdued lighting and muted colours. We shared tasty cheese fondue and grilled aubergine with tahini and garlic dips to start - they were flavoursome and served with some excellent pita bread. My sea bream wrapped in vine leaves main was perfectly cooked and presented with "smacked" cucumber. All the side vegetable dishes are served with added ingredients and dressings - we had sweet potatoes and spinach. They were fine with the plain fish but there might have been rather too many flavour competing with each other had I chosen one of the more spicy mains. There are some interesting options on the short wine list and we enjoyed the bone-dry Verdejo wine we chose. Service from all three staff who attended to us was excellent.

Food even better than before the revamp and it was incredible then. Hands down the best restaurant in St Albans IMHO.

If you like to be disappointed, you are welcome there. The good things are the atmosphere and the manager. The food wasn't good. In that case it was good that it was in such a small portion. The wine was a really cheap one.

Great food but terrible service also tables are too close together and not enough space on table to put more than 2 dishes water bottle and wine glasses.

Such an unbelievable dinner at Tabure - small portions but beautifully done. Highly recommend the beef kofte, chicken thighs and roasted cauliflower and babaganoush! Drinks were also very reasonably priced and service was very attentive and helpful for recommendations. Would highly recommend to anyone!

This place is only for people which recognise and appreciate the quality. I am very impressed with the overall experience, flavour's of the food are poetic. Interior is designed to cherish your eyes in the same time. Definitely will be going back there and recommending this place to everyone !

Brilliant service and delicious food. We wanted a restaurant where the service for a table of 8 would be good and the atmosphere relaxed, Tabure provided exactly that, everyone had a great evening.

Fantastic evening. Food was delicious. Service was excellent and a special thank you to Gul and Handam who were so friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening thanks to them both.

We were very careful to research times before coming out. Both Google and THE DOOR of the restaurant say “Sundays - closed 22:00”. We arrived at 20:44 to be told by a very unfriendly staff member that they were closed. Apparently, the kitchen closes 90 minutes before close (at a restaurant??) which is ridiculous.

If you're tired of the usual Turkish fare, this restaurant is for you. The recipes are absolutely amazing, and really bring out anatolian flavours that you can't find elsewhere. Add some very courteous service and a warm atmosphere and you can't fault this place.

Tabure offers something quite unique, the cuisine is a cross between Turkish, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, with hints of British flavours and all encompassed in a relaxed, fine-dining environment. Particular highlights were the Aubergine Kumpir, Sultan's Risotto and the Cyprus Potatoes. Exceptional food and presentation, however, the jewel in the crown, really is the service and that, from the manager, Gul. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome as we were celebrating a special occasion and nothing was a problem for her and her team; she even looked after our daughter and kept her busy/entertained! Very much look forward to coming back and trying the rest of what the menu has to offer and meeting the team once again. Our only regret is that we did not find Tabure any sooner.

A lovely dining experience. The yummiest 3 dip starter I have ever had! The portions are not the biggest sp order tapas style. I wish the risotto was with risotto rice and not bulgur. The prawns and fish were divine.

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in St Albans. Food- So tasty, original and filling! Lots of options for vegans/veggies but also meat eaters. Service- Exceptional, so professional and welcoming, very relaxed. Drinks- Cocktails were really good! We were visiting family from London and will come here again when we return!

The reason for low stars is , they accept a booking , made on the day , but don’t tell you that it’s not a TABLE booking but a seat around a plastic barrier that is the kitchen , I don’t want to eat a meal at a bar type seating and look at the chef ! I cook enough during the week . If you can’t give someone a table please say on booking that it’s for the kitchen VIEW ! Unfortunately we had to walk out

Incredible cuisine and service. Easily my favourite restaurant in St Albans and superb for vegetarians. Eclectic flavours fused together with tremendous heart and soul. High quality ingredients and twists on recognizable dishes through which they have upped the ante. Wonderful team who have always been incredibly hospitable and warm whenever we have been - they even remembered some of our prior conversations after a couple months of not having visited - a mark of people who care and that are genuine. Many thanks and recognition should go to the host manager, Gul, and those who took us on the culinary journey Agil and Milena, to name a few. Standout dishes: Fava bean hummus (gorgeous freshly baked pita) Labneh Aubergine kumpir (surprisingly delicious) Cyprus potatoes (what superb and technically outstanding potatoes!)

Menu with complex flavors. Modern revisitation of Turkish cuisine. Fabulous. Two negative notes: for that price I expected at least tablecloths, in European and Mediterranean style. Not the unhygienic British one where the cutlery is placed directly on the table. Furthermore, if they make you eat at the counter in front of the chef who prepares the dishes, they should reduce the price.

Went as a group of four and had a great meal, lots of different meals and all said their meal was fabulous. Service was terrific even though they were short staffed that night, hats off to them as they made the evening special.

Came here for a meal of small plates and sides, a bit like tapas. The aubergine is an absolute must, and the truffle mushroom feta dish blew me away it was so flavourful. Their Aegean mess and helva chocolate brownie desserts also hit the spot in a major way. Staff were super helpful in helping us choose dishes and really attentive whilst still giving us a relaxed eating experience. Having a grill in view of the dining area is a great plus. It fills the whole place with some amazing aromas. All in all we had such a good experience here and would fully recommend it to any avid foodie.

Absolutely top notch night out. From the incredible service by one of the family (thanks for all the recommendations!), to the amazing wine and cocktails. Then the food, just incredible. All served to us right in front of the charcoal grill. Some of the best Turkish food I’ve had in memory. Highlights were the butternut squash and the halloumi. But also every dish we ate was incredibly cooked. The chef on the charcoal grill was an absolute master. Couldn’t fault a single part, will be back again asap!

Food pretty good but service not great. One of the managers here is rude, defensive and has that special skill of making customers feel like they are nothing but an inconvenience. I don’t understand such hostile behaviour from a person in a customer facing role. Left feeling patronised and mortified by her behaviour towards our family, because I had chosen the restaurant. I won’t be returning to the St Albans branch.
